- Join us on part 2 of our journey, as we continue on to the confluence of the Jacks Fork and Current River. On our final stretch, we encounter springs, a massive cave and an epic landscape!

@t bone fisher To the best of my memory, we did about 12 miles the first day. We hit the cave on the second day after a couple miles. So, just under 14 miles from the South prong access I believe.
Shannon County Missouri is a beautiful Place. I will be there in August floating this river.

@@AVAJourneys I've been hunting and camping and canoeing all my life never did a canoe/camping overnight though going to start this year have a couple of questions I have some classic army zero degree down mummy sleeping bags how do you think they would fair in a hammock I like the idea of being off the ground the hammock provides rather than the pup tent I use , also in context my wife and I where camping on the current I live in Doniphan not as pretty here but we where actually stalked by a mountain lion to the point we had to leave. There was no fear off us at all. I know some people don't like it but I would really suggest carrying something for self defense against hogs they are mean in the right situation

Most folks use an underquilt and/or an insulated pad. We recommend an underquilt. As far as the wild life, we've certainly had our encounters. When feasible, we usually bring a firearm.

I grew up on all of these rivers, black river, blue springs, elephant rock. Steelville on the hoozah river, tell ya what if you haven't been to Bull shoals, that make is an ABSOLUTE beauty body of water. I'm new sub and love the content, thanks for taking the time to share the beauty we have here in MISSOURI, I travel and do the same thing, but no camera,

Reason it's called Ebb&Flow is that the water will flow really good then after awhile it will slow down to a trickle for awhile then start flowing good,there use to be a sportsman's club community right there before the Riverways took it

We just finished a trip on the Greenbrier during a winter storm. Windchill hit 9 degrees. Was certainly an adventure. We'll have that video up soon enough. As always, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching! Stay warm!
Alley springs is named after my families namesake. In the second floor of the mill there is a picture of the Alley family when my Grandfather was about 4 years old.

Jacks fork is a spring fed river. It's so cold you wouldn't want to swim in it until late July early August. Missouri is a beautiful state.
It is indeed! Missouri water ways are incredible. As of this writing, we are on our way to run the Greenbrier in WV. Winter run! Stay tuned!
Southern Missouri is stunning. Northern Missouri is like Iowa and N. Central Illinois, as flat as a board... except around Hannibal.
The far Southwest part of Missouri is more mountainous as one gets closer to Arkansas. The Southeast part of the State is granite rugged, but the hills are more rolling than in Northwest Arkansas where the Ozarks are really mountainous with much taller peaks than in Missouri.

evidently you did ! jam up cave used to be a military medical station where planes would literally fly into the cave. if you’re brave enough to swim past the spring all the way in the back and climb up a narrow and dark waterfall you will find a path that goes all way on top of the cave as well as open into another room that i have found carcasses in. let’s just say humans aren’t the only ones brave enough to explore
i crossed (along with 4 other buddies) the spring in my trunks and with no t shirt 😂

This river looks amazing. I really need to do this, but not sure I really want to do 48 miles. Perhaps I can split it up, but not sure of all the access points. Would require some planning.
It does require a bit of planning. There are plenty of camping opportunities along the river. We're used to covering more than 20 miles a day, but everyone is different and has thier own preferences. Plan it and execute. You'll love it!
Yes I just need to find someone who will do it with me, I don’t think my wife would be up to that long of a trip 😅. You know I thought the Buffalo River had the best bluffs out of any river I’ve seen in the Ozarks, but I would say this video makes me think Jack’s Fork rivals what I’ve seen on the Buffalo. The only problem with the Buffalo is that it isn’t spring fed enough to maintain water levels.
@@natesambo9759 Both rivers are incredible and somewhat seasonal, depending upon where you put in. They're unique in their own features for sure. We commonly contact park services, for recommendations and also permissions, when performing areal photography.

Where are some good places to put in at or easiest to get to put ins and will outfitters take my Kayak for hire
We put in at the Prongs. You can put in higher, but that’s only with sufficient water levels. We always take out at Two Rivers. Anita with Two Rivers Canoe rental will take good care of you. Excellent outfitter. Tell her we said hello!

You definitely need to! Tell you what, contact Anita at Two Rivers Canoe Rental. She and her crew are awesome and will provide all the information you need. They offer personal kayak transport, as well as rentals if you do not have your own. Depending on water levels, the Prongs are an ideal place to put in and are near the headwaters of the JF. What a beautiful part 1 & 2 video of a beautiful river. Thank you so much for sharing this. I would love to float this and have a few questions 1. What time of year is the best time to float this? 2. What is the warmest month to float this? 3. I have a 9’ one man pontoon boat, would this be ok to use? 4. Is there shutting services? 5. Was it hard to find camping spots along the river? Thank you for any information you can give.
Good morning! The river can get pretty busy from late May through August, with August being of course the hottest period, next to July. There are many services in the area. We would definitely recommend Two Rivers Canoe Rental. Anita, who runs it, is fantastic!
In our opinion, the best time to run it is late April or May. Water levels are usually high enough to start at the Prongs. Make sure you check the forecast frequently, however, to avoid flooding. The river can rise quickly.
Camping spots are plentiful. We hammock camp often, and were able to find plenty of trees
Gravel bars are common as well, if you opt for tents. I've not run in the boat you've described, but with recommended water levels you should be fine. Please let us know how your trip goes!!
