No matter what you think of assassin's creed, you gotta give credit to their world building and environmental design.
Adnan Khan I do❤
Yeah i agree, i may not like the new gameplay and the new rpg aspect, but i love the world.
Everytime
Yeah you re right. But this doesnt decline the fact the franchise must get a creative rest to accumulate new ideas.
I think that’s their downfall sometimes they spend too much time world building and then they run out of time to debug the game hahaha
The only reason i am gonna play this game is because i wanna tour ancient Athens just like i did with Ancient Egypt. Ubisoft are masters at world building.
Levi Anthony
Why can’t both be
We all gonna do that exact thing
As long as you don't take them at their word: this is NOT how Ancient Athens looked like. It is about as realistic as "Troy" or "300". The Persian-looking Odeon is especially infuriating, given the time and history. You've been warned.
Pity they couldn't be bothered to build their worlds right.
Hahahahahahahahahah! You have no idea what world building is, do you?! Hahahahahahah!
As an Athenian, watching this video gives me the chills. It's simply brilliant
Same.
Watching this video makes me feel I wanna visit Greece
I love Vietnam, you should do it at some point. Attica is full of ancient ruins filled with tons of history. Just like all of Greece, actually. You should also visit the greek islands, ancient Olympia, Delphi, Crete (Knossos etc)
I've already make some plans to visit Italy in the future and wanna go back Vietnam, now saving up money for that. But Greece is sure on my list, although no plans.. I did pre-order the Odyssey Pantheon Edition :)
Italy is awesome. The mediteranenan countries are all awesome. Spain, Southern France, Italy, Greece, Croatia.
How ubisoft makes thier games: "hey, where do we want to go on vacation?"
Domen Kay where do I apply if that’s the case. 😂😂
That worked for me, I went last year to Italy and I couldn't stop thinking in AC2 mostly when I was in Florence lol
Well than I hope this year they will want to go to Japan or the war museum in London, first or second floor (I mean that they will do a game on WW1 or WW2 or Japan)
accurate!
Guess they don't like Japan
Came back 3 months later. Just to say. Odyssey restored my faith in ubisoft
I know Ubisoft has done a lot of bad game wise but its honestly turning into one of my favourite companies for games
@@owentracey1929 They won me over and reinvigorate my trust with Far Cry 5,Origins,and Hopefully Odyssey when I get to it. Already one of my favorites. Can't wait for New Dawn. Hope they give the AC and Far Cry some more time instead of annual stuff.
Origin is the reason I play this game.
@@yunix2396 do it, it's brilliant and underrated because people have a gripe with Ubisoft. They patched out most of the "incessant" grind to proceed threw the story and just added new game plus like yesterday. It's an amazing game and I hope Ubisoft can keep nailing it like this in future titles. New Dawn was a step back in my opinion due to it lacking content but we will see where ac goes from here!
@@Boskibro Sure.
I just got New Dawn, but I got it for the story and Saw Blade Launcher. I'll see for myself if it lacks. Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂
I live in Athens, and this looks pretty darn accurate. I can only imagine the work put into the environments.
Its beatufull indeed, but not historically accurate
I feel the need to mention something I realised about Assassin's Creed Odyssey a few days ago. Many people are complaining that "this isn't an Assassin's Creed game" and "you don't even play as an Assassin" etc. I was thinking about this and tried to figure out the main reason for Ubi shifting to a full RPG with this game, and I believe I've figured it out. Assassin's Creed Odyssey ISN'T a game about the Assassins. OR the Templars. It's a game about an uninterested third party that could end up on either side of the conflict. I believe this is the kind of story the developers wanted to tell, as the motives/means of the Assassins and Templars have always strayed into grey areas, and so doing a story about the Peloponnesian War (Odyssey) a time when there were no organised Assassins or Templars but when the exact same argument (freedom versus order) was more prominent than it has ever been in human history, they've created an interesting sandbox where they can say to the players "hey, if you actually had to choose, would you be an Assassin or a Templar?". Obviously this is just conjecture on my part, but at the very least it's what I see the game as being about. :P
Actually the name of the franchise was never about the Brotherhood of the Assassins but a system of beliefs of a given person that has a mind set of an Assassin (which may or not may be an official member of the Brotherhood). See, the name is Assassin's Creed, in singular, as in the Creed of the Assassin. In this meaning, creed is a system of beliefs, instead of a group of people. So it's clearly not about the Brotherhood, because if it was, it would be in a plural from, Assassins. So the name of the franchise would be Assassins' Creed (with the apostrophe coming AFTER the s, not BEFORE).
In short, you can't say this game is not Assassin's Creed anymore because there's no Brotherhood, because it's not an integral part of the franchise, right from the beginning.
The very beginning of the series was with the brotherhood in the holy land, sure the fight of freedom v order is integral and the beliefs held within the Assassins and Templars supersedes the actual organisations but you cannot say that a factor like the assassins that have been the centre of all the games mostly as protagonists or (as in Rogue) antagonists can just be swept away and that that is all fine and dandy. This game ill see as an impressive romp in history but not a wholly proper ac game.
The name of the very first game is Assassin's Creed in singular as I explained above. Yes, all the games had the Assassins and Templars organizations in the center of the conflict. But all games were never about them, but about a person immersed in that conflict. So, let's say, just for the sake of variety, they are doing a game without those organizations. It's a different game from their predecessors? Sure. It's not an AC game? No, because since the first one the core aspect of the franchise was the person and not the organizations, so it would be a valid entry even if it's different from the others.
It's like saying Rogue is not a proper AC game because you play as a Templar where all other games you played as an Assassin. Or AC3 is not a proper AC because you start playing as a Templar and then you change historical protagonist, and you never had that in previous AC games.
Im not saying outright that AC odyssey is 100% not an ac because i haven't seen the plot yet, however it feels off, no matter how thematically similar it is. Honestly it feels like a test game seeing how well mmo rpg mechanics work in ac.
I don't feel that is off, but I agree that is different and I think every game is a test of new mechanics. They tested new things on Black Flag, Unity, Origins etc. What works they continue, what doesn't work they change. By work I mean sell, or being critically acclaimed.
Ubisoft has replaced History Classes for more than a decade now
Michael Abia Hope they'll continue for the next decade.
i wish they had an optional flashcard minigame which gave eg furs as a reward to help us learn the history. It would make the game even bigger & better IMO. i might actually do this on Twitch somehow
i use a software called supermemo everyday & it makes it very hard to forget eg _Leonidas fought at Thermopylai against the [...]_
I think ubisoft is the best history teacher
Besides the world itself, there is barely any history in these games. You wouldn't actually be able to tell fact from story
@@corneliusnowicki5363 What is a game without the world? And what do you expect, a george washington simulator?
The whole point of the game is that you're in a modern world and get to step into the past via a VR machine with a character and story created for your entertainment. The real world in the game doesn't know the creepy stuff Abstergo is doing, or how they even make the Animus possible.
No one is talking about the amazing details in this game, the time and love poured into the world, they are just talking about how they want a cowboy game and how much they hate each other.
@Levi Anthony it won't. There has been no game that could outmatch AC's world detail.
Witcher 3 didn't have so much details as the newest AC games, but CDPR managed to make the world and it's characters feel more alive than AC Origin's Egypt. I hope they improve that in Odyssey.
TheAllegiantTraitor. That is not true. Every NPC in ACO has its own daily routine and things to do. There are many proffession for different NPCs. You can even *MANUALLY* watch how NPCs make *REAL PAINT.* Does Witcher 3 have THAT level of detail? Like bowlers and stuff? Everything like that is in ACO. Everything is Manual there.
@@danielantony1882
Witcher is 2 and half years older. Not sure about the budget. However, in witcher you can actually influence the world around you. AC is more like a movie where you have a minimum impact.
@@danielantony1882 Say that to Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studio or Rockstar lol
When they turn their attention to Asia it’s gonna be dope!
Assassins in form of Ninjas fighting the industrial revolution and the abolition of Samurai?
It's gonna be accused of cultural appropriation.

Ancient China or China 1800's is screaming their attention

It looks beautiful. Looking forward to exploring Athens in this game.
Michael Wighton
Can't wait to explore Athena. 😉
Can't wait to explore Kassandra.
Michael Wighton I live in Athens and I admit I can't wait to explore ancient Athens as well. :)
And Spartans.
Maybe we will see Leonidas
l would love to see mount Olympus and climb it. If I could see the home of the Gods.
Loving the music.
ClarkusMarkus that last song in the end!
"Legend of the Eagle Bearer" from The Flight :)
TilmitderBrill'
The part towards the end sounds like a remix of that music, possibly for a fight.
Yup and that Ezio's family reference is neat too!
Sounds kinda the Witcher III like
This game has got me so exited. the graphics and gameplay look gorgeous and the fact that its in Greece
Its very challenging to build places on ac Odyssey because they need further optimization and host platforms to build ac Odyssey.. Ac Odyssey was build for the current gen console in mind.. The pc version is a port version of the console....almost all 3rd party developers now a days are using console as they're base hardware to create game especially rockstar, i really don't know why they choose console... Pc needs to wait for the console peasant all the time...because the next Generation of gaming will not move if the console will not move on... That is why mod exist because console are very slow to keep up..
How ubisoft teaches me history is more effective than how they teach history at school...
By far my favorite AC game the way they built the map, the graphics and in general the gameplay was amazing
I've been obsessed with ancient Greece all my life. To have a game of this quality and magitude capture history in it's living form is a dream come true!
I’ve never played any of the Assassins’ Creed games but I think it is awesome how they recreate (as best they can) the past visually, and you can virtually move through these places. How many gamers have developed an interest in history because of these games?
As a Greek, the artistic design, placement and ambient graphics (plants, gardens etc) are so realistic, I feel so immersed that literally the smell of those plants and the environment is coming to my brain. E.g. when running around the the various Acropoli in the game, the smell of warm rock, dry olive & pine wood comes to mind. The design team really went miles, congrats guys, really, awesome job.
Thank you UBISOFT! Respect from GREECE.
Respect to Greece. I feel like it's part of the tree trunk from which the branch of London grew
This game blew me away. The detail is incredible. I couldn't stop playing it. Amazing job!!
I hope the world is as amazing looking as Ancient Egypt from Origins.
The Illuminati
It'll be even better.
No doubt. Just a bit concerns that it will feel TOO familiar. Origins had 3 different architectural influences;Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Yet it all kind of felt the same, minus the Pyramids, of course. The Egyptian temples were the same, albeit with slightly different layouts and statues that made them slightly 'unique', all the Roman citadels were the same and Alexandria and the small city (though the size of a village) with the colosseum felt the same. Hopefully Sparta, Athens, Delphi, Dolos, Thebes (hoping), Iolcus (wishful thinking), Ithaca, Thessaly (shout out to Achilles), Salamis, Crete (really just pulling at strings here) and Thessaloniki will all feel unique. Pity Mycenae was already destroyed by this time setting. That would've been a sick place to visit...
You Know Those Dudes?
I really doubt we are getting that much
Well it looks exactly that and is filled with seas and is suppose to be bugger
sigh I don't know, it feels the same to me.. I hope it's not the case
Getting to be in Ancient Greece is the main pull for me. I probably wouldn't buy it if it wasn't for that.
Γεια σου (Αρχαία) Ελλάδα!!!🇬🇷
@@BioHorse thx for the translation
Translation : Hello (ancient) Greece!!!
People saying this looks like a dlc for Origins need to remember that AC Brotherhood was a fantastic game and it was basically the same game as AC 2 plus these same guys commend Bethesda for Fallout 76 which is also awfully similar to Fallout 4.
Doctor Sam But the manor difference is that While brotherhood continues the story of Ezio the new game builds a new story entirely...
it continue the story of layla hassan dude -.-
Ac3 = Blackflag = Rogue
Ac2 = Brotherhood
Should've just enjoy it
People are hypocritical twerps, it’s common.
Doctor Sam Brotherhood had something that no Assassin's Creed achieved again thereafter... The Followers of Romulus. It was so sick when you fought them and the spun around like angry ninjas with those dual daggers. Such a pity we never got such skillful foes again...
This is the most visually pleasing game I've ever played, and the music is perfect too 👌
Just huge props to these devs, wonderful rebuild of an ancient world that was honestly so much more beautiful.
Athens was the most beautiful city in the world

Ofc not. Persia Egypt Babylon.

Ooo baby that little melody of the main theme at the end was epic!
I'm absolutely in love with this game. Everything looks so gorgeous.
I will be spending a lot of time in Photo mode, just like Origins.
Why man u liked photo mod aha
Now playing this in 2020 and I'm appreciating all the hard work Ubisoft put in
I've been to athens this summer and i really loved it, looking forward to visiting it in its prime in this game!
This video has sold me on the game. Love the Ancient Greece setting!
I’m glad I chose to buy this instead of origins. Odyssey has been such a fun game, plus the visual aspect is absolutely beautiful, jaw dropping, and yes the game has a very warm feeling to it. I haven’t loved a game like this in so long.
Thanks for the immersive experience you gave us.
Always appreciate the research Assassin's Creed does, especially when it comes to architecture and the environment.
Just remember "They say of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is... that there are no straight lines"
Interesting fact. There are myths that say that the statue of Athena, that was made of gold, was built inside the Parthenon. Some say that it stood by the entrance alone. Still. Nobody knows for sure.
Being an architect and an enthusiast of ancient Greece, the graphics are incredibly stunning, the historical contents are super appealing to me. I wish there is a way to experience in VR headset. Although I rarely spend time playing computer games but this one makes me want to try.
This is beautiful and excellent! Thank you for recreating. Altc
5:43 - if this is the statue of Pallas Athena and therefore we are looking from the entrance (Propylaea) at the front of the Parthenon, there cannot be a sea in the back. We are then looking inland and are supposed to see Mount Lykavitos and parts of ancient Athens.
It’s all shrunk down
AND THATS THE TOP IN THE SCALE OF AMAZINGNESS!!!! I live in Athens and not just that, I study history and I m so thrilled with the beauty of the city my ancestors build. For years I played the Titan Quest game just to be as close as I can to "that place". Then I go and visit the actual temples and other ruins and I get goosebumps. Dont get me wrong, I love every ancient civilization, its just that Greece is the epitome of worldswide civilization.
I cannot say enough congratulations for the team who build this game. You re absolutely outstanding.
Psychopathis you're so true
what an awesome time to recapture, i appreciate the thought that was put into this game
I love wandering through the game watching the beautiful scenarios and the architecture of every place, watching the NPCs doing their everyday work is fascinating
Hugely impressive. I'm going to get the game, largely due to this incredibly authentic environment. Simply astonishing!
Hats off to the directors and creators that created this masterpiece.Cant wait to try it out! 😍
I've learned more about history through assassin's creed than i ever did in my history class
Thank you, for the game, but most of all, for producing such a persuasive and intelligent representation of what ancient Greece used to be. I have been in Greece many times, teasing my imagination thinking how those ruins used to be innovative constructions. Now I will have to go back and see Greece in a sort of new augmented reality, thanks to you. Great work!

Man the fact that you created ancient Greek dialogues so accurate give me goose pumps. SImply details that make the game amazing. !
Amazing work ! Respect!
Can't wait for this game man, we've got GOW NG+ next week, spiderman and tomb raider next month and AC odyssey and RDR2 in October, lots of great open world single player RPG games coming during the next 2 months and i love it! my wallet on the other hand.. not so much...
Who care about Wallet when we have a beatiful games they deserve our money for how they work
man, this comes out on the 5th of october, then red dead comes out on the 25th!!! going to be a fun two months!
Too bad for Battlefield V (they deserve less sales for their arrogance though).
Got 70 hours into Origins and their world building is nothing but amazing. Totally blew me away and can recommend to anyone sitting on the fence. A wonderful experience, especially in 4k on the X1X or PS4 Pro.
The more i see the more excited I am for this. I've wanted something like this for a long time.
so beautiful
lol my history teacher actually loves ac bc it's so close to real history, and this video proves it once again
I can't even imagine from an art design standpoint how difficult it must've been to recreate any ancient city as historically accurate as possible
As a game artist I'm just in complete awe of this entire game. Every little component, every little detail on the textures, the landscapes and the watershader as well. Just gorgeous!!
How can Ubisoft be creating amazing digital achievements like this, while other so-called AAA developers (cough Bethesda caugh) can't even compare.
Incredible work. I thought Origins was spectacular. This is something else. I don't care if you arnt an Assassins Creed fan. You can't help but respect historical reenactments like this.
I often just stop and look at the painting's on the temple walls and things going on around me. Even if I have four bounty hunter's tracking me 😄
Total amazingly. Ubisoft goes far and beyond in the world building design. Every detail is just amazing. Well done Ubisoft
This is much appreciated

Buying it because of Athens
So many videos on Odyessy, I really need this game to be released, like....today!
I actually toured Athens in 2018 and it was a great visit.
So many amazing games just around the corner! RDR2 is my main focus!
GTA V Movies I agree! Odyssey is my number 2 though. And spider-man... and battlefield V... Hmm don't have enough money :P
CrADrafgo really dude, don’t buy battlefield. It’s the same recycled garbage content only it now has a battle royale! Nothing new or no innovation. Don’t give those people your money
DarkDoTz I could literally say the same about FarCry, or even Assassins Creed! The games are all kinda the same, just new features and Improvements.
DarkDoTz Bruh why do people expect every game series to reinvent the wheel. I understand franchise fatigue but why overhaul your entire franchise when it wouldn’t result in a better product. In fact, Bf V has done a lot to make the experience more hardcore and team focused by changing the way squads need to work together. This isn’t a major renovation of course but is a proper sequel that builds off the ideas of its predecessors. There’s now no 3D spotting, less starting ammo, squad revives, reinforcements, and squad “streaks” that require points earned by the squad working together. I’m not drowning in excitement for the game but it kinda grinds me the wrong way to see people shitting on what’s looking to be a solid departure from previous bf’s
GTA V Movies and like myself, you are probably ecstatic for the movies we will be able to make with RDR2's Rockstar Editor!
I’m Greek and I’m really thankful for this art that you made!🇬🇷
My first assassin's creed game in a long time. Last assassin's creed i played was still on the ps1. And damn if been missing out so it seems. I have been to greece 5 times and the amount of eyecandy and atmospheric world this game has really makes you feel emerged in greece as the player.
Born and raised in Athens, I can do nothing else but give it up for Ubisoft! Pristine work! Mad props! Thank you 💖
Υου are making great work ! Congratulations to all Ubisoft team guies ! All Greece we love you
Not sure if you can live up to Orgins and the masterpiece of Egypt, yet cant wait to see what youll have to offer

Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt are probably the 2 most beautiful (and packed in mythology) civilizations of all time. I trust that they wont disappoint

Assassin's Creed is the only gaming franchise that has contributed to the real-world learning when it comes to history, even more so since the reboot with Origins and Odyssey (discovery tour). This is in itself, is the most admirable and respectable thing. May they keep making these games for all times to come.
