One of the most terrifying parts of X-treme's development was how one of the developers got so sick that he was told he had six months left to live. Luckily he survived after the cancellation, but I can't believe someone almost DIED over developing a Sonic game.

He then went on to sue Sega (and maybe Sonic Team) when he saw the similarities to their latest racing game as he was not credited or incentivized for his contributions to what would become Sonic Riders
Vision Scape (creators of Sonic Extreme) showed the prototype to Yuji Naka, and he was impressed. Vision Scape sent documents of it to Sega, but they never responded.
@SF Productions whoa 😦 so many cancelled sonic games, so waste potential for Sega 😕 but they did right thing to cancel the another one because sonic is a alone hedgehog but he's has friends and also he's no siblings 🤦🏻♂️ Sega messed up big time 😭
You're incorrect about the Sonic Riders/Sonic Extreme info... It absolutely was pitched as a full game, with the idea being "Sonic Tony Hawk".. And it had almost nothing to do with the "Sonic Riders" we got, besides Sega seeing this American prototype and deciding to steal the idea, cut out these developers, and make their own "Sonic on a board" type game..

X-treme could of been a good game but it failed...
Well, that gameplay of rubbing the screen to make Sonic run is literally a mini game in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games :)
