1 point I do give Sonic Generations 3DS is that it has one of the best remixes of Big Arm I've ever heard.

I had the Wii version of Unleashed, sadly my disc stopped working 2 or 3 years ago. One of my favorite memories with it is when I had a sleepover with my friends, and when I showed them the scene of when Sonic stretches his arm to grab the ice cream that Chip dropped, my friends were so confused that one of them said "Elastigirl?". That quickly became an inside joke between us that still lives on today
Actually, I enjoyed Lost World for 3DS. It has smoother controls, WAY better use of wisps, level design (despite some mechanics) are actually better and without any desserts and casinos (if anybody will say about city in Sky Road, then i will answer: that's all in the sky!). Also the game is impressive for 3DS standarts: when i played the game for the first time, the graphics are great, and also realisation of completely round planets is awesome. The rank system is not only for Time Attack, the craft system from Rush Adventure, where you can create RC vehicles (which you can transfer to Wii U!). You collect Red Rings for extra levels instead Super Sonic, and that really challenging exclusive for 3DS Hard Mode. Boss battles, especially Final Boss are way better, they have more attacks and aren't that easy. I had no problems with gyro controls, it was actually funny to spin around in special stages and tilt device to move.
Whatever you say about this game, you can't change my mind, that the game was really interesting to play
Having recently played Lost World 3DS I was surprised by how much I liked it. Dogshit gyro control aside, it was basically just a tough version of the base game with more experimental levels. Sure, some of it doesn’t pan out as well as it could have but for a 3DS demake I was fairly impressed
PS2 Unleashed and 3DS Generations/Lost Worlds is still the only way I got to play those games. (When I got Generations, I thought it would be similar to all the videos I saw, actual 3D levels, not all 2D.)
Speaking of 2D and 3D, Lost World on 3DS was basically what I was looking for. The special stages are bad, but the main game was perfect for me.
3d levels like HD gens had would've been mind blowing to have on the 3ds omfg
Is it possible to make it work on the 3ds? Probably not, but at the very least it would've been a neat novelty
The final boss in Unwiished plays very differently from the HD version. Instead of rushing at Dark Gaia as Chip, you just play punch out with Dark Gaia. Then you do the running bit with Sonic, and then Super Sonic directly fights Dark Gaia without that big shield thing that Dark Gaia does. It's interesting.
Wii version of the final boss is honestly better, imo. I’d much rather have a 1v1 with Dark Gaia than watch Chip do all the action.
It certainly makes a lot more sense and is better thought out pacing-wise. In Unleashed, you sloooowly go towards an enemy that is weirdly far away and just spams attacks you can do little about in practice. Then, dude just charges up standard lasers in a melee-fight(Who does that?). It also feels a lot more sensical for Sonic to actually hit the eyes at the end of each section rather than miss them and then having presumably climbed up to them off-screen.
It actually looks like both fights complement each other:
You get closer to Dark Gaia as the Gaia Colossus (Unleashed HD) > Fist Fight, Punch Out style (Unleashed SD) > Quick Time Event Fight (HD) > Sonic runs on the temples towards the eye and homing attack it (both versions) > (Repeat everything twice, but only in the HD version, in the SD you just need to run as Sonic to the other two eyes) > Transform into Super Sonic > Run towards the barrier avoiding rocks and getting rings (HD) > Defeat the Snakes to destroy the barrier while Chip fight against Dark Gaia inside of the barrier (HD) > Fight against Perfect Dark Gaia itself, avoiding more rocks and avoiding his attacks, going on each eye to damage it (SD) > Final Quick Time event to hit each arm to free Chip and defend from the big laser (HD) > and then go for the central big eye and defeat Dark Gaia (both)
I have some major bias for Sonic Unleashed on the Wii. It was one of my first sonic games, and I barely knew how to play it, but I spent hours on it as a kid. It definitely is kind of hard to control, but I‘m very used to it at this point lol. It‘s my favorite Sonic game! Though, I literally had no idea that there was an HD version for other consoles until I bought the game recently again. 😂
Man this brought back some memories I also recently replayed unleashed for the wii and it was a trip certainly not perfect or as good as the hd version but it just kinda made me happy, and oh boy sonic colors ds was something I could actually say was a good game and well made. I also 100% agree colors ultimate should’ve brought that super sonic boss fight in some capacity
Lost World 3DS is really overhated in my opinion.
Honestly Sonic Colours DS is one of the BEST Sonic Games Ever. And I'm glad Nathaniel Bandy Agrees.
If you think about it, if you have a 3DS, you basically can play, what I call, the Rush quadrilogy, which is Rush, Rush Adventure, Colors and Generations.
I just got Sonic Generations on my 2DS ( why does no body act like the 2Ds exist, it’s the perfect blend between a DS and a 3DS for cheaper 😢) and I’ve been having lots of fun. Great level design and bosses are good too.

New2DS is boring to talk about because it is literally a New3DS without 3D, which you can just turn 3D off. Original 2DS only differenciates itself negatively by not being able to be closed, so it is less practical to play and carry around.
"It costs less" is really not much of a gimmick to be mentioned specifically, that is like mentioning the original Wii, the Wii Rev 1(That has less internal space and removed GC-features) and the Wii mini seperately, even tho there is only a need to mention "Wii" once.

Sonic colours ds my beloved
As someone who likes Lost World 3DS, I think its mainly to due to how Sonic controls compared to the Wii U. Sonic just feels slow and floaty on the WiiU, but I still like the console version. The 3DS level design is a bit all over the place I got used to it. Honestly I think if the level design had been more field base and less bottomless pits and gyro control, it probably would've been more well received. They had field base boss fights in the snow and jungle worlds, so they could've used that layout for the stages.
I used to not know that the xbox and ps3 versions were different (unleashed), I just bought the Wii version😂
Ah generations 3DS, my childhood Game. Still love it, I went through the game again a while back and it notified me that I had completed the game over 30 times.
I remember getting sonic lost world for Christmas one year and I completely missed the fact that there was a run button in the 3ds version. I played HALFWAY through the game until I realized it. I dropped it after that cause I was more frustrated then anything

Actually in Colors DS you can choose to have only Sonic, Tails, and Eggman in the story if you avoid all the optional missions.

Honestly imo both the Wii version and the ds version of sonic colors are Canon because I think that the ds version story Happens off screen during the Wii version story. Can't say the same for the other.
To clarify Dimps didn't make UnWiished they had ONE guy on level design & the rest was ST. All if not most Dimps sonic games mostly use Dimps for programmin cus ST were low in number(split teams for several games that aren't all sonic), ST still directed & designed these games themselves.
Yeah that was pointed out a few times 😅 I guess it makes sense since the level design is really the only thing changed about the Wii version

As a Lost World 3DS fan, i have to tell you that nearly all that "filler" as you called it can be skipped by busting out some sick parkour moves in 3D or on a repeat playthrouh after you've unlocked all the wisps, using those in levels they werent in before

@@SFproductions1 counterpoint: Sonic gameplay is meant to be mastered by finding the quickest route through the stage by any means neccesary and then using your muscle memory and reflexes to execute said route

Characters on Colors DS seems interesting, cause on one hand, Eggman did build an entire park built on multiple planets, you would think there would be more life there than just some robots and captured wisps. But then again on Wii, didn’t Sonic and Tails sneak in on the elevator, then was the park not open to the public?
The Wii version of Unleashed was my first experience, I liked it more than the HD version as collecting medals were based on scoring than finding them in random places. Also liked how the boost was more optional than required
I first played Colors on the DS, I never fully experienced the console version until playing it on the Switch
The 3DS version of Generations was a lot of fun, wish that it had more representation of the handheld titles
Fun fact: Sega considered the 3DS version of generations to be a port of the console versions, but they made the port have different levels instead

Sonic Unleashed on Wii is pretty Beginner-Friendly version of the Unleashed on 360/PS3 in the sense and that it was made with an younger audience in mind and with a far less frustrating Eggmanland.

I own Unleashed Wii, Generations 3DS, and Lost World 3DS
I have a lot of nostalgia with Sonic Colors DS as it was my first ever Sonic game. Even though it’s inferior to the console version, there’s still a lot that I like about it from its fun gameplay to the DS sound chip styled OST.
LOVED. Sonic Rush. The music was immaculate. Fucking still play it
Unwiished, my beloved. Gaia Gate > Entrance stage any day of the week. I am still thinking about the potential of a fanmade Unwiished Ultimate, because...come on, the greatness is literally right there, just out of reach. Make the side-missions non-mandatory, give every country besides Eggmanland a second or even third daytime act based on the leveldesign they literally already did(which they put into the missions, because they didn't have time to make it full acts), etc etc.
It's basically the same old Sonic-effect. Devs do a decent job, but then fans in hindsight see 30 things they could have easily done better. That is especially true here because a few omissions and cutbacks were because of the hardware, yet the experience they made transcends said hardware. It is not one of those bootleg-esk downwards conversions that only makes sense on its original plattform and would otherwise be redundant, this could easily coexist with Unleashed if given the remake-treatment.
6:24 Tbh, the biggest differenciator between Colors and Colors DS for me is the final boss fight(which may or may not mean nothing because I never played DS). The presentation just got to me in a personal way. In the Wii game, the second phase is just kind of a repeat of the first phase and the Final Color Blaster is the most boring thing ever. In DS, it's Sonic being saved just in time from an instant death-laser and pushing through it and every moment of it is as perfect as DS-visuals can be. That type of hype scene is what gives me life as a Sonic fan, lol. Just sucks that it is stuck in SD without upscaling, I would lose it if it got better animation on a modern plattform.
9:02 On a similar note, I wish the originally planned Gens Wii wasn't replaced with Colors. Like, man, it could have been so interessting, assuming they would have done it in Unwiished-style and gave us a storybook-stage. But hey, I guess we got Gens 3DS instead! That started its life as a cashgrabby PSP-game that was whipped up in no time, then got ported to 3DS, strangely got cancelled in its prior form(was the PSP just too old by then?) and in its endproduct did not even have the production values to include the cutscenes and NPC-characters...or new leveldesign for some stages, iirc the classic era stages in particular are mostly ripped straight from their originals.
12:03 "If you want to play the game, then play this other game". Lmao, nice. I never played this either(Unwiished is the only one here that I played already, I play to play all of these eventually tho) and one critisism I heard that is interessting is that the lack of camera control messes this up a lot in its 3D-sections. I wonder if a few years into the future, someone will mod the game to include support for the Circlepad Pro/N3DS C-knob. I mean, people polished Secret Rings controller mappings and de-kinected Free Riders, so it is certainly believable.
I've played all of these and I have pretty mixed opinions about them.
On one hand I absolutely love Sonic World Adventure (Unleashed if you will but I prefer the Japanese name and this is the version I own) for the Wii and Colours on the DS, but on the other hand I find Generations 3DS to be a mediocre game and Lost World 3DS, despite its good controls, is my second least favorite 3D Sonic game.
For some reason, the PS2 version of Sonic WA has better werehog controls compared to its Wii counterpart. You mash square to attack normally and you press triangle to attack with both hands, while the classic and GC control schemes emulate the Wiimote + nunchuck controls (Classic - y: left hand, x: right hand; GC - L: left hand, R: right hand)
3:33 I like the gaia temples and medal collecting more in the wii version. If they fixed up the medal collecting in the HD version I'd rate unleashed higher, even tho it is my favorite sonic game to this day

Lost World 3ds is a great game especially on the unlockable levels and the hard mode is cool as well I put a lot of hours into this version
Also, there was a flip phone port of Unleashed iirc

I honestly wouldn’t say sonic colours ds is a downgrade. I think that its better than the wii version. I do wonder if there’s a hack of the game that introduces the trick system of the rush games.

I have all of them and boy I say the UnWiished version (WIi/PS2) was decent amount of timing despite with a stiffly controls, the DS of Colors is good of a gameplay but I’m sometimes used to the recent gimmicks, the 3DS of Generations (usually was supposed to be psp as well but got cancelled) I played it back in 2016 boy it was short but I enjoy it sometimes (I prefer the console version), and Lost World got me to stress out a lot and the controls are that slippery
How do they forget ports that are extremely easy to remember. Like come on, I remember Colors DS, Generations 3DS, and Lost World 3DS better than console ports.
Umm… Actually, Sonic Unleashed Wii/PS2 was made by Sonic Team. Dimps was responsible for the level design. :p

These aren’t really ports or remakes, just reimaginings.
I DID play Sonic Generations on my Xbox 360, until the console broke and I resorted to 3DS gameplay, the bad thing about the 3DS is the online mode tho, idk how he didn't mention it.
I didn't use the online mode because im pretty sure it's no longer working lol

The homing attack for classic is on generations Xbox and ps3 but you need to have every red ring in Classic Planet wisp don’t belive me? Try it yourself (you won’t wanna know how mad I got while getting them)

I actually perfer the 3ds version of lost world mostly because instead of levels that don't fit to a world instead most of the stages fit with the zone except sky road stage 1,2 and it's extra and oh yeah red rings unlock extra stages which is just harder variants of an existing level with slight changes but i think the 3ds version holds up in my book and i think it handles the challenge half and half so yeah but it's my opinion
I will like to hear every one opinions about all these game and my thoughts are these:
Sonic Generations 3ds: its really fun in my opinion although i will like the handheld levels in this game but its pretty fun plus water palace is here
Colors ds: super fun im mean do i need to explain everything about this its super fun blasting around with the boost
Sonic unleash wii or unwiished: very intresting game thats pretty fun tbh no moon collecting the controls aren't the best but still ok to control and the stages are pretty decent and fun to speedrun
Lost world 3ds: very very hard but because of that theres level i wanna speedrun like the final level before the bosses just slaps so hard and finding short cuts are nice to fine plus looking for red rings is kinda fun although frozen factroy act 3 sucks but act 1 is awesome

I prefer the Wii version of unleashed and only got the HD one recently.
I didn't really have any issue with the 3ds version of gens & lost world exept the dropping gun robots in radical highway in gens on the 3ds, sure i agree they are inferior to the main version but i still like them
This is my biggest sonic hot take but I like 3ds sonic generations over the bass game
I remember getting both 3DS Sonic Generations and 3DS Lost World. The Generations game was tolerable but started to get stale after a while, to the point where I didn’t want to play it anymore (thank mission mode). I remember trying to play 3DS Lost World but almost died of boredom! I had a massive wave of disappointment; it was like Dimps took the tube planets from Mario Galaxy and arbitrarily slapped 20 of them together with crap item and enemy placement. Also the competition/multiplayer mode sucked and wasn’t in 3d. Just Awful.
When I finally played Generations on PC it was amazing! Still play it today. Can’t say the same for lost world PC though; it lives up to it’s name because I lost interest in that game world about 10 levels in.
The DS version of colors is solid, but the void wisp is annoying to control

I do hear a lot of people hating both Colors and Lost World, but when someone hates on Generations, their opinion is very often not received well, at least the times I saw this happening. At best I can see people calling it disappointing for being way too short or not as good as Unleashed's daytime stage but that's it

I swear no other franchise has this weird cycle of changing which game to hate.

Some time ago people hated the Adventure games, then they hated Unleashed, then Colors and now for some reason Generations?
And on the opposite site people used to hate Unleashed and now a lot of people started loving it (which is fine let them have their fun).
It´s just so bizarre.
@@supperwolf People still really hate Colors (Imo Generations isn't even hated half as much as it, and with reason, Gens absolutely wouldn't deserve it) and Adventure hate was more of a thing by journalist and general public rather than Sonic fans

Btw, the Unleashed case is different because the love for it is far from new tbh, it was game that started hated and simply got more love (And, absolutely, deserved, Unleashed is my favorite 3D Sonic game)

As for the Wii version, I'mma be honest, I don't think it's very good. Does it deserve all the hate it gets? Eh, depends, for me personally, I found the gameplay to be just as boring as Forces', for the most part (But that's just me probably)
