Played AOM in the beginning days casually offline vs normal bots with even 10k ressources cuz I was a dumb kid and couldnt handle much more then only spamming myth units. Now im getting into rankeds, learning my micro and macro and now playing around 1.1k elo raising. Youve took me there. And this video also will improve me further, people like you are always a gem in any community!

So fun fact, when you talk about swot analysis its actually derived from Sun Cu, Art of War. Which is a great circle from war strategy, to business, and back to war. ;)

Hey Magic, great content as always! But I have a minor suggestion for your intro cinematics: You can use camera triggers (see for example Husksuppe's tutorial on a custom main menu screen where he uses them) to get really smooth camera movements, including turns, tilts and whatnot. Would really up your intro game! :D

Not sure what you changed on your mic, but it's peaking in this video, and it sounds much worse. Almost as if the gain was doubled or tripled.
Also while I'm at it, maybe I'm alone in this, but I think these videos are better without the background music. Or you could make it AoM music?

i agree i love his videos but this is the first one where he changed the voice, theres was no reason - his voice was always perfect and crystal clear. and not a fan of piano background music either, listening to you is interesting enough magic :-)
Thanks guys, feedback received. Something went wrong in this video not sure what exactly, I switched from adobe after effects to DaVinci for my editing software and I probably have something incorrectly turned on/off.. let me troubleshoot it and find out what went wrong.

I was actually thinking about it! The unfortunate thing is I don’t have that much time right now to moderate and respond in the group as often as I should so I was still thinking about it
Ty! Box formation can be useful when you have a manticore+army and you want to protect the manticore from a ball of hersirs coming in. Can also protect archers if youre expecting a surround.

I actually liked the old logo, it felt more.. personal, direct or down to earth.
It was your choice, not a brand thing and that made the distance between you and the video watcher/community feel smaller.
Not that I dislike the new one. The new one is great too and I undesrtand the reasons behind changing it.

I like to use the hot key for ranged units, Calvary units. As well as make controlled groups. Pretty much any unit that I can use as a counter or raid I like to have a hot key for. And then infantry units I just lump with military units hot key. Hero’s I also use as my mouse button. It’s super handy when playing as Norse to stop the centaur spam. Great video! I still have to finish setting up my hotkeys.. there are so many options it can feel a little overwhelming lol

I really love your videos they are very informative. I would love to see a video on how to make a good army composition for Loki (or the Norse in general (or just in general)). I usually struggle against Greek cavalry and archers.

Pathfinding is such a pain in Retold. Babysitting every unit and vill to make sure he follow the orders given. And yet even though you have to command one unit or vill to do one task he actively do otherwise. Iam so flustrated
you get use to it over time, don't give up !
Great video! Can you do a guide about matchups and what to do in certain scenarios? For example how to play as Odin vs Set? Or what to if opponent is building second TC early on?
I know that you can't do every match up, but general video what are offensive gods, what are defensive and how to play with them will help us a lot!

Constructive criticism: Unfortunately your audio was peaking all the time, I don't remember that being the case before. You probably had your microphone a bit too close on this one? Otherwise great content and would absolutely like to see an advanced video.

if rally point of your production building is on the unit of one of your contol groups, all new units from this building will automaticly join this control group

New logo is good, but hands needs little more polish to look more natural
I really like your videos Magic, keep going. AoM is the most difficult RTS I ever played imo, too much things too learn. What do your recommand for a beginner ? Focus only on 1 god ? I try to learn, rewatch my games, but I can't do many games and I really struggle to play after a pause of 3/4 days (BO, maps, building positioning, units, ressources, etc.)
My progression journey was sticking to one god for a few weeks and then moving onto the next, watching replays and having friends or players better than you walk you through your errors is definitely very important too, imo the best way to learn at the start is to mimic the pros until you grasp the basics!

the intro is hilarious
in most games that hit and run technique is called kiting. thank you for the great videos btw. u have helped my win rate in 2v2s so much. I went from pretty much always losing and always being the reason my team loses to like a 50% win loss rate and I'm not the only reason we lose now LOL. If you have any tips on how to deal with people doing centaur spam it is the reason I lose a lot of my games. i play as hades most of the time with a Freyr/Loki as my 2v2 partner. Normally early game ill scout and try and harass one of the enemies villagers with my minotaur/Ajax and rush to age 3 while my duo builds an army and then we underworld pass into the weaker enemies backline and kill them as fast as we can. it works really well for us normally but when people play centaurs and micro them well my only answer early really is Achilles and even he just dies normally cause its hard for him to close the gap vs them and then they just nonstop harass my villagers delaying my progress significantly. any tip would be amazing! thank you again for all the guides and everything. keep up the amazing work

It’s an additional menu for Norse, in the UI box it’ll be located in the build menu for “show additional military hotkeys”
This is INSANE
With the select all button, how do you stop it from selecting the Pharoah? Especially when playing Ra.
Use select all idle military. It won't select the Pharaoh
@Slyzor1 what if I'm in the heat of battle and I want to select all military especially the ones being rallied from my barracks?
@@Yojimbo991 Then you use "select all military" and don't care about the Pharaoh. Or you can deselect him. Or you can rally your barracks on top of the fight and still use "select all idle"
Get "Select Pharaoh" hotkey and click it right after and stop it from moving.
I think the devs will fix this at some point, but as of right now the only way to avoid this scenario is as slyzor stated, either use all mill and deselect the pharaoh or use select all idle mill hotkey
I know for a fact you know a lot of streamers. And that you are friends with a lot of said streamers.
Not sure if just settings on audio is wrong or your mic broke but I hope you are aware some viewers might be first time viewers of your content. And if they happen on something like the bad audio of this video it might turn them off entirely from looking at your other videos.
Just a suggestion, talk to your streamer friends to help fix audio issues. Might just be quick configuration or settings or worse might be time for an upgrade and investment for better audio.
I hope you take this suggestion as criticism with good intentions.
Wish your channel and brand to grow bigger moving forward as I am starting to watch AOM vids and you are one of the better ones on UA-cam.

I know AOM Retold is just a month old but the more people see the game thru channels like yours the more daddy Microsoft will invest back into AOM with updates and tournaments so I'm rooting on every streamer and UA-camr to make this game grow.

I like the swat analysis very good and helpful :) but selecting all military units or like selecting all ranged units in my opinion is a bad habit in the long run this should not be as good as someone using 2-4 control-groups for his army and microing them effectively - obviously this very, very high level for the average player using all military/archers is very good and will make them improve by using more army and using more effective

Hi guys, especially IamMagic. I have a question, my friend goes greek and builds an army consisted of around 10 dinos and the rest only archers. I played set, and just couldn't reach the archers, It was more than 60 archers...
I just wanted to find out how to counter that. (I often win with early attacks but 1 game lasted long and I had nothing to do against those archers)
The first step is to clean up the Dino’s, make sure you make tons of priests and kill those before they get close to you. Once the Dino’s are out of the way you have many options, for example slingers if he’s really only making archers, or camels if he has no infantry to defend the archers, don’t forget you can add your own myth units too, the avenger and the scorpion man are great to use!
3:30 first thought was: U are getting pushed by way more units, ur a up in eco and he used pesitlence at u.. Why not using ceasfire to get the time u need to build units?
This is just a demonstration build, it wasn’t a real game, I was in the editor!

I don’t use it much, it’s nice for some scenarios when you want your tanky units to eat most of the projectile fire but I’ve not found many use cases for it just yet

If i select 20 of my counter archer units and right click ONE of my opponents 20 archer units, will my counter archers focus that ONE unit? Or will they focus the group?
One archer unfortunately, the key is to right click while holding down shift on multiple units, it’s a bit cumbersome I know
