I’m going to try, THANK YOU!! 🙏🏽✨My husband is Nigerian and says your ch has the closest recipes he recalls in childhood. I have my Egusi and Okra soup down!!! 🤤Looking for some new Nigerian traditional soups and recipes to add to the regiment, I noticed this soup doesn’t have a lot of stock like the others? Keep it More think ? All I need is fresh Periwinkle 😳
Ngozi, I hope I didn’t butcher the spelling of your beautiful name. What a mouth watering soup 👌🏾 I’d pair it with steamed white rice and totally tear it down 😋 well done and thank you for sharing 😍
Can you check with an Efik or Ibibio lady that you never use onions when cooking Affang soup. Reason is that the onion takes away from the unique aroma and flavor of Affang leaf. Well, you don try but next time just take away the onion, not even for seasoning the meat that will go into that soup. That you would be overwhelmed by the powerful flavor of this miracle vegetable!
Adora, thanks for taking your time to leave a comment. I know the ibibio's don't use onion for dishes like atama, afang and a few other dishes but as a lover of onion I couldn't help it. I would have mentioned it but it skipped me. *my bad*
Waterleaf is always very dirty, it doesn't have only sand. My main problem is the dirt and not even the sand, although i don't like sand nor need it in my soup
Goat meat and cow skin don’t have the same cooking time . Have you come across a tough goat meat ? The less tough ones does not have the same cooking time with cow skin talkless of the tough goat meat .
A salad spinner will be perfect for getting the water out of the leaves
I like the soups it composed to gran the leaves if I want to cook it
Salivating 😋
Weldon I will try this later looks yummy thanks

Hello buami. Yes you can substitute with spinach. That's what I mostly use use when water leaf is not in season. 😍
Waterleaf is always very dirty, it doesn't have only sand. My main problem is the dirt and not even the sand, although i don't like sand nor need it in my soup

Please please never you add onion in afang soup. Ask Calabar people how to prepare it.
