Ive always been a non religious jew. Thought i had great ideas and was very smart. I felt deep anxiety fear and worry all the time. I was called to the bible. Soon i realized almost everything is out of my control, God gave this life to me and I need to humble that voice in my head that tought it knew it all. My heart is yours Jesus! Thank you for saving humanity! May your kingdom spread and deepen. My Lord my God that has given me unconditional Love❤
I had a similar realization. Went through life thinking I was too smart to acknowledge God and - even if He indeed existed - too righteous to need His grace.
Awesome! Welcome to the family! We will all celebrate together in the eternal kingdom and it's going to be glorious. The hardships of this world were meant to drive us to God, not away from Him. Congratulations sir on understanding that Jesus (Yeshua) is indeed the fulfillment of the Jewish scriptures. I love Him too! Blessings to you and yours. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nailed it! The problem common to humanity from Day One is rebellion. I've asked people a similar question: if God walked in here today, what would you say to Him? The response is usually accusation. Well, "Let God be true and every man a liar." 😏
@rachelm7525: “If God walked in here today, what would you say to Him?” God, why are you so cruel, evil, narcissistic, and bloodthirsty? Why did you punish your chosen people to cannibalise and eat the flesh of their own children? Why did you kill so many babies, children and women? Why did you create evil and boast about it?
_"They want to be God."_ That's it. We want to be our own gods and goddesses, we want to decide what it's moral or immoral, we want to create our own rules and find "our own internal Christ".
When I hear they want to be God all I hear is that humans make different moral choices that they should have to back with logic or reason and not just say... God wants it

Jordan: As a former atheist for ten years before coming to Christ in 2002, this was my exact situation. This video was short but simple and so well explained, thanks. The only addition I might consider is that while my main reason for rejecting God was indeed my own desires and autonomy, I also had a false picture of God that I had created myself or from others to reject, so even if Christianity was true, I wouldn't have wanted to accept that false god I had created or borrowed from culture or other atheists. For me, learning about the gospel and reading about Jesus firsthand for myself in the New Testament not only showed me my situation, but it gave me a more correct understanding of God's heart for me and HIs will and ways than the one I had falsely made up to reject. I still think the first issue (sinful desires and autonomy) is number one, but learning about the gospel and God through the life of Jesus sure helped to change the way I thought about what a life submitted to God through Jesus would look like, even with all the challenges and sacrifice it can bring. Still, great video!
Perhaps you can go to other skeptics UA-cam channels and tell your story. I always wonder how the others would react when one of "their own" becomes a Christian. See you in heaven some day!

I would argue that to achieve happiness and content is by helping other and leaving behind a positive experience in other people lives. This can be done with a God or without.
It absolutely can. For a mentaly preserved human (exc. Psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists to name some). However if the material world is all there is helping others is beyond moronic. Bcs "selfish gene/s". Also, that "positive experience" without supernatural is merely a byproduct of an organic system tending to grow and procreate. There's no will or reason to it - it's no more happiness inducing than gravity, or magnetic force. It's just somewhat more complex in term of variation in intensity, frequency and direction. I'm quite an unorthodox Christian as I believe that genuinely philantropic and altruistic ppl will be saved regardless of their possible lack of faith, but they'd definitelly be ppl who've spent their life acting irrationaly if not faithful. 🤔

Here's one for you Most of the time evidence isn't the issue for people. They don't want Atheism to be true because they don't want to give up their sense of purpose to a universe who isn't in control. They want God. They want God over their own lives, so sometimes just asking the question can help clear the decks of any objections and not only help you understand where the person is coming from, but it can help them understand when they have to admit that they're really not in it to discover what is true. They want to believe what they want to believe. I really can't imagine most people saying that they wouldn't believe something if it was true, but maybe Frank just surrounds himself with a different humans than I do idk
No Isaiah 53 has me pretty convinced Jesus is real as well as some actual supernatural experiences with the demonic and things that go bump in the night that athiesm could never explain.
@@jadedrac0 At best, Isaiah 53 bears some resemblance in places to a story that came later, written by somebody who had access to the earlier story. It's not very convincing to me, even when coupled with a translation error that is you'll often hear with it. Why does it convince you?
@ well first off because it’s not a stand alone prophecy. And secondly it’s not a broad stroke brush of a prophecy it’s very specific. A suffering messiah would be pierced, by his stripes we are healed referring to the cat of 9 tails whip that lashed his back. Buried in the tomb of the wicked a rich man. Jesus was buried in a tomb of a rich man named Joseph of Arimathea. Btw here’s what I mean this isn’t stand alone this prophecy is about Jesus’s betrayal Zechariah 11:12-13 New International Version 12 I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”-the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord. Now i cross reference this with the story in the new testament and compare Mathew 27 3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.” 5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. So Zachariah predicted Jesus would be valued at 30 pieces of silver, it would be thrown back into the temple and used to buy potters field . Yeah uh no not a broad stroke prophecy. There are hundreds of prophecies like this I could go on and on all day long. Also like I said before Ive personally experienced ghosts supernatural encounter with my former atheist friend that a pure naturalist worldview can’t explain.
I have a better question. In 1929, Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe are expanding, how is it possible that Jesus mentioned the expansion of the universe, 28 times in the book 'Pistis Sophia' which have been in the British library since 1785?

I’m speaking as a non-believer: the problem I’ve encountered with a number of Christians is that after I say yes to the question, and you give me evidence and resources, my continued doubt and questions are met with accusations and assumptions that “I don’t want Christianity to be true” and “I don’t want God to be real.” This is despite me insisting on the contrary being the case. I’m starting to suspect that it’s because many Christians are afraid of the problems and insufficiency with the evidence they provide, and the questions and challenges that come with it. Basically, as much as I hope I’m wrong, I’m starting to suspect that the only reason Christians say these things is because they want it to be true. I want it to be true, too; but I try to think critically and achieve a certain level of certainty. If Christianity were shown to be true, I would become a Christian. I’ve been trying to seek the truth and see if it’s true. Although I’m an unbeliever, I’m not an atheist. More of an agnostic, I guess
Matthew 7:7,8 speaks directly to what you are experiencing, doubting but seeking as well. God knows who you are and He knows you're looking for him. Keep going! And thanks for your honesty.
You’ve hit the nail on the head. Christians WANT it to be true. That’s why they believe in the first place. They then falsely believe that anyone else who doesn’t believe it must NOT WANT it to be true. This of course is false but they have been brainwashed into this black and white mindset.
In the beginning in Genesis. Cain and able both had been shown by Adam how to sacrifice. Able gave his the right way. And was accepted by God. Cain however didnt give his best. And his offering was rejected. And yet God spoke directly to Cain. And told him that if he did right, it would be accepted. And offered him repentance. But cain did not want that he went and killed his brother. Because he wanted to. Even though he regretted getting punished. He suffered the consequences of his decisions even though he knew what to do in the first place.
Non-Christians can’t just force themselves to suddenly believe that Christianity is true. You’re conflating doing what is right with being convinced of a philosophical position.
Please elaborate on some of your points for me... as this story has always bothered me. Where does the Bible say that Cain didn't give his best? Or was offered a way in which it would be accepted? I've never seen that in Genesis.
@perilousrange he had to know how to do it. He had watched Adam do it. Able gave his and his offering was accepted. Probably by fire. It doesn't say that but there are several examples of how God answered with fire if it was accepted. To Abraham. To Moses. To noah. To Elijah. So Cain knew what to do. But his offering was rejected. He did not give his first or his best. And that being said God would have if it was. The first fruits or first born sheep. But go read this story. God even goes and speaks to him. Himself. And tells Cain. If you do well will you not be accepted. So God gave him a way to repent.God was giving him grace to repent. To fix it. But it says he never did. He was jealous. And instead of doing the right thing. He did worse. But I will give you another example. Go read about Aaron's two sons. Nadab and abihu. It says that offered profane fire. They knew what they were supposed to do. They had been shown. They chose to offer something in a way God had not commanded. God is Holy. Will remain Holy. And sin separates us from Him. And as a bonus. One of the ways the ac will decieve when he comes is with fire coming down from Heaven. The book of revelation states this. Probably when he goes into the third temple and the world is asking for a sign. And he gives them one. Hope I explained it enough but if not ask me another question. And I will try again. All of the patriarchs knew how to sacrifice. They had shown each other. Because when it says they called upon God. Tbey were doing an animal sacrifice. Many examples of this. Noah knew how. Abraham. Issac. Jacob. Levi. Moses. I would
@perilousrange i would guess that they taught their sons. Noah and shem and eber was alive the same time Abraham was. If you want go read jubilees It was found with the dead sea scrolls. It has many details in it also.
@@gradyjohnson7853 I re-read the passages in preparation for my original reply. I couldn't find any reference to "He did not give his first or his best". I'd offer a similar concern regarding "strange fire". Folks often speak in terms of "they knew what they were supposed to do", but from my readings... It's never made clear. It seems to be a series of learned behaviors based on those that have been punished previously. Nothing clearly defined.
Let's help many believers get real, with this simple question. If you reached the conclusion that God did not exist, then would you still worship God on a just-in-case basis? That is, would you still worship God just in case your skepticism happened to be wrong?
It's impossible to reach the conclusion that you cite, because universal order comes only from intelligence. That is, design and the creator. The properties of God can be discerned through negative theology; by necessity, He holds all good qualities and so, He would not be a deus otiosus or an evil deity.

Science exists to explain all that natural stuff - only divinity is incomprehensible. "It's eternal" - that's the thing, it's not. Philosophy, religion and science all prove and agree that the universe had to have a beginning. "Why does it need" - because it is fine-tuned exactly to permit life. Calculating the properties of fundamental forces allows us to understand that if even one constant among many was higher or lower by a gopher, life would not exist or stars would not exist. Stuff like ATP does not come randomly into being, it's too complex for that. The information in all kinds of life is NOT random; experiments reveal that most organisms would be severely impaired or fail to exist at all if even one gene is disturbed (such as mutation and breeding experiments on fruit flies). Maybe the doctrines of Christianity that were formulated from things that Jesus never said are the reason people are leaving or avoiding Christianity? If people see Jesus without interpreting and overriding him using the writings of Paul and Moses no one would reject him. 🙏
This is the standard Pauline apologist argument. People don't believe in God not because of lack of evidence but because they hate/dislike God and his rules. It conveniently dodges the issue of dubious evidence for God. In fact, in my experience, most people who do not believe in God is because the evidence for God is dubious and so they 1) choose to believe in some other deity or spiritual belief, or 2) don't believe in God at all. Why do apologists try to claim the issue is with attitude towards God as opposed to evidence of God? Because it gets around the problematic issue that the evidence for God is dubious at best. As a result of this insufficient evidence, billions of people have been condemned to eternal agony. It doesn't have to be so. A creator of the universe could establish his existence to the satisfaction of scientific rigor with the blink of His eyes. Billions more would be saved. But instead God does nothing and as a result, millions get eternal agony every year. Why would a "loving" God do this? That is why apologists want to divert the issue from whether their is sufficient evidence of God to a "you just hate God" claim.
the video's argument is based on flawed reasoning, misrepresentations, and oversimplifications. the core issue is that it attempts to dismiss all non-Christian perspectives as simply being motivated by a desire for personal autonomy, ignoring the many valid reasons why someone might not accept Christianity. the proposed "key question" is ineffective and does not reveal the supposed "moral objection to God."

["I see an awful lot of Christians claim to know the inner mental workings of non-believers, and to speculate in such a way to make those unbelievers seem inferior an dishonest. Who wants to bet they will argue that question too. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil

@lawrenceeason8007 you might , but frank has video where he has asked this question and their reply was it depends on what his rules were and other things
There’s another side of the coin: Dostoevsky’s The Grand Inquisitor, or even Voltaire. Plus, asking if atheists would become Christians if they found out Christianity were true presumes too much. Don’t we know lots of people who might say they believe in the truth of Christ, but one would never guess they were Christians?
The reason that practicing sinners get agitated when they hear the gospel is that they're dedicated to their pleasurable iniquity and refuse to part with it, and to yield to authority.
@lawrenceeason8007 please read the section in Genesis that talks about Cain. Cain knew what to do. He had been shown what to do. And didn't do it. Then God even spoke to Him and told Cain. If you do right you will be accepted. Cain just upped the stakes and killed his brother. Because he wanted to.
Some people in Jesus' time saw Jesus do miracles and signs and some even saw Him raised from the dead, and still didn't want to follow God. It's true, evidence (proof) is not the issue with many people
This question is terrible. As an atheist, the word "christianity" might mean something very different than what Turek means when he says it. He assumes everyone agrees that within "Christianity" is contained certain traits of god. Like all-loving or that god that wants to know you ect. But many atheists do not take that for granted. They might be of the opinion the christian god isn't good or at least all-good. So i can see when asking this question to an atheist. They might say no. Not that they would say no to Tureks version of an actually all-loving god that is perfect, lovey-dovey ect. But to what they understand Christianity to be. I, for one, would not become a christian if the christian god actually caused the flood and drowned everyone on the planet. Because such a god is not compatible with a good god (in my opinion, and gods own moral standard). But an actual all-loving god that wants to know me and doesn't do these terrible things... Sure, i would become a christian if that is Christianity. So if you ever ask this question. Please make sure you first agree on what "Christianity" means in that question.
If you want to know why someone doesn't believe your religion, ask them why they don't believe. Asking a completely irrelevant question and drawing baseless assumptions from that is just dishonest. However, if someone already believes in God, and just doesn't believe in Jesus (i.e. he's a Muslim or a Jew), there is no rationale reason for him not to believe in Jesus once you show him it has to be true. That would make no sense. Why in the world would he not want to be Christian if he knows it's true, assuming he already thinks there is a God?
I think often its not that we don't want there to be a God. Its that the biblical God has abhorrent behavior and we would be couldn't honestly worship him if he was real.

@CrossExamined Thanks for sharing. It starts reasonable but the second half becomes increasingly more painful to listen to. Do you really believe that a toddler dying can be justified as it will allow a preacher to rise 500 years later? Is this what you would tell the parents? In the end, given that I first thought about the theodicée 30 years ago there was nothing really new in this. Suffering builds character and is a result of free will - only in some cases. It starts adding up only if you believe in life after death, but there is no indication that we will experience anything after death.
Eh... but something being true doesn't inherently mean that people will believe that it's true. I'm a christian and if you asked me if I would believe in Islam if Islam was true, I'd say no... so what does that mean?
Only if evidence is the issue can you maintain that people "don't want it to be true". If there is sufficient evidence for your claim, then reality will force people to deal with it, even if they don't like it. But if people can ignore your claim, then apparently you don't have sufficient evidence to make them confront it (whatever "it" is). For example, if your claim is that water exists, nobody can rationally act as if that is not true, even if they didn't want it to be true, because of the overwhelming evidence for the existence of water. But if your claim is that unicorns exist, anyone can rationally act as if that is not true, regardless of whether they would want it to be true or not, because of the paucity of evidence. Same with religions and gods.
Christian, believe they go to heaven when they die, and the rest of us go to hell to be tormented forever and ever. But the Jesus of the bible has said: that all the dead, the righteous and the wicked are still in their graves waiting for the return of Christ, the first resurrection John 5:28-29
I might figure out that it's more of a heart problem by asking them if they're familiar with the stories from the Bible. If they are, then it's simply a matter of asking them what they think of certain stories.
Maybe most believers ignore the evidence against god because they have a heart problem: you couldn't stand no heaven for them and their loved ones and no hell for their enemies.

The actual issue is you ask a Mormon or Jehovah Witness they’ll say you need works in order to inherit salvation…. Why can’t a person just believe and that’s all ?
Depending on how one interprets scripture, you can be saved by faith alone Ephesians 2:8-9 Then you have passages that indicate works are required James 2:24 Thus, a principle difference between orthodox Catholic and Protestants
Does that align with the entirety of scripture? If not then it’s a non issue. Most issues and contradictions people point out in the Bible disappear when you properly exegete. It’s the eisegesis that creates all the problems that anti-theists love to say are why they don’t believe.

Most of us could swallow that a divine creator, created everything millions of years ago and just left it up to every creature to live their best lives. If it was TRUE, of course we would all be Christians for we would have no choice. Hopefully he will clear up all the useless suffering of the people that loved him without fault, while evil people prosper. If he's divine, he shouldn't need constructive criticism from his creations though.
"Constructive criticism" - man, people worshipped literal demons because God wouldn't grant their evil desires! We can't criticize God, not when He originally gave us paradise (which we wasted) and, then, to save us all from irreversible damnation, sacrificed Himself on the cross. Everything is our own damned fault and I'm man enough to admit that.

What a pile of nonsense. What makes you think you can speak for all the atheists in the world. I don’t care whether god is true or not. But my brain tells me there is not a god.
Get this my Christian friends: believing something exists and worshipping something are two distinct acts. You can ask yourself a similar question: if God was evil, would you worship him? So why does Turek assume if his idea of God was real, everyone would immediately worship that?
Because his idea of God is that he was not evil. There is no rationale reason anyone would not do what he is supposed to do if it means being saved vs burning for eternity. It's not possible to prove this but if it was, why in the world wouldn't you follow it? It's a silly question
@nothingbutthetruth613 The rationale: if one finds that God not worthy of worship. Unless just pretending to worship is enough. Is that what you're saying?
@@gergelymagyarosi9285 Right. He's asking based on his belief which is Christianity and that would be a God who is worthy. The bottom line is it's a silly question and nobody would answer that they would not follow it
@@nothingbutthetruth613 Did you notice how you did not engage the argument? Which is: the god Turek believes in is morally reprehensible, he is just not seeing it.
@@gergelymagyarosi9285 But that would be irrelevant. Whether you agree with him or not, it doesn't matter. That being said, if you are truly shown this, and in that case, you were also shown that whatever this God does is for the best, you would not think it was immoral anymore. You would immediately realize that your finite mind and limited capacity to understand the bigger picture would mean nothing next to a God who knows all.
As a former atheist, I found my disbelief was from a lack of humility. When God broke through, I realized that I could bend the knee to God, but not to anyone or anything else. I don't want to speak to other atheist's disasters...I'm just convinced that people would rather bend the knee to addiction, power, fame, sex, money and to evil for the sake of evil. In this respect, humility makes you strong, and I think those who don't want to be humble assume humility makes you weak.
I often hear stories from people who say they used to be atheists, yet when pressed on the matter, none of them can present any good reason why they changed their minds. So what was your story? Down on your luck and looking for hope? Drug addict who needed to put responsibility elsewhere? A rebellious teenager from a religious family who came "back"?
Beautifully stated! All humans are extremely finite and imperfect, thus without humility the imperfect human will live a drastically inferior life in all sorts of ways (especially following imperfect human-made belief systems like atheism).
How do you know that evidence isn't the problem most of the time? I mean even those who don't believe but heard and areca part of the current religion they are in like most are just likely don't care to put a lot of time into evidence for other religions like Christianity but they got everyday life and living they do like their family for generations. When people are not raised as christian and christianity is not around them everywhere, it does not mean the bible is just a collection of fairytailes and they don't even have a motivation to study it properly to look for other problems it could have. First, I wouldn't call it fairytale even though I do not believe it and there is arguably good evidence for it. People being raised not as christian and christianity is not around them doesn't make it any more true or false of religion. And people don't have enough motivation to study it properly to look for problems with it, assuming it has problems which again is another discussion, but it is true that many don't take the time to care really. I do not find eyewitness testimony, especially in this case, to be resalable enough but they have manuscripts and many witnesses and testimonies form other sources, so that is still something that points at least slightly in the direction that it could be true. To say Fairy tales is accurate, in secular societies things like creation in Genesis 1, garden of Eden, the flood or resurrection are just mythological stories on the same level as Perseus and Medusa or Théseus and Minotaur, I can see how Genesis has the context like its not suppose to be taken literal and I guess can be called "fairy tale" if that were true. The Bible is clear? Really? Your holy book is contradicting itself on almost every page. One minute God wants to do this and the next minute a mortal human managed to change God's mind. The God of the Old Testament is an evil maniac but in the New Testament Jesus is rather a softy. If you claim this is unchanging behaviour, you're using doublespeak.
@Eddieshred Just like mainstream christians, you're reading it wrong. Just look at how many times God gave Israel a 2nd chance. Not only them, but the pagans nations sin had to become so great before He became angry. Literally, centuries would go by before His wrath would come!

The evasion of responsibility is a central aspect of Christianity, so it's no wonder they prefer entrusting all things with their supernatural father-figure.
On the contrary, wanting to "control" your own life with no principles or responsibilities is called childhood! Adulthood is recognition of things like duty and need over one's own wants!
@ Moslems say that Allah says the Q'ran is true. Parts of it are. You struggle with the difference between 'knowing' and 'believing'. I guess I'll just have a party bucket and leave.
This is a bad argument. What about asking a Christian if Christianity is not true and they don’t want to believe it because they want to have their life governed. When you can replace Christianity with any phrase and get the same point across, your argument falls apart.
There's free will so no one is being controlled by anyone. If you want to live your life separate from God, he's not gonna hold you back. Christians willingly choose to follow God because his son died on the cross for our sins and then rose from the dead and defeated evil for good. It requires obedience on our part, it wouldn't be love if we were controlled by God.

@ the point is, many feel proof comes before faith. Think of it like a person starting a new business. They may be weary of their potential for success. But, they have faith in their plan. Faith is the harder item to truly obtain. The proof? Well, that is all around us all day and everyday.
@@itsJPhere In the new testament both English words faith and belief have been translated from one Greek word πίστις. They are the same thing. In English however, faith is often understood as trusting in something without any evidence. That would be the irrational leap of belief/faith... not the Christian faith. The biblical Christian faith/belief is supposed to be a rational evidence based faith/belief. Christ and the apostles gave evidence for our faith. Creation gives evidence for our faith. Our immaterial spiritual nature is evidence for our faith. So to answer your question...you get faith from the evidence. An irrational leap of faith without evidence can fail you. If Jesus Christ is truly who He claimed to be, and His sacrifice is real, then that is the most important truth in existence. But if He is not who He said He was, then everything He claimed and did, along with my faith, is entirely meaningless. I think the question implies that a person could know with 100% certainty that Christianity is true, but the reality is that God still requires us to have faith. It’s certainly not a blind faith thing. There is a lot of evidence to support it, but aside from some kind of supernatural encounter with Jesus, the evidence can’t get them all the way there. Thus it seems like a gamble, to some extent. I’m not sure if It’s the best way to put the question because of this. It’s not necessarily a bad question, but maybe not a great one either.
So many people claim there is evidence, but I'm yet to see anyone present anything that actually justifies believing that any gods exist. You mentioned that it isn't a blind faith, but the rest of your comment seems to indicate it is.
Dr. Turek claims that _"Jesus is the truth."_ If he provides sufficient objectively convincing evidence for that claim, I can rationally accept it. However, nobody has ever provided sufficient objectively convincing evidence for any supernatural claim, so this is not going to happen. Dr. Turek also claims that believing or faith is not a matter of the head, but of the heart. If that is so, then we cannot choose to believe or have faith, just like we cannot choose to love or hate or will anything that we consider to be a matter of the heart. But if that is the case, then how can a just God condemn us for something we have no control over? Such a God cannot be called just, or good, or loving.
How disingenuous. Evidence is the problem. But not the only problem. If in fact it was true, why would anyone want to worship such a jealous and vindictive god.
The problem is you are asking a hypothetical question which nobody can relate to since there is no evidence of this nor will there ever be. Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgment as to the reality of any particular god until sufficient credible evidence is presented. My situation is that *_I currently have no good reason to acknowledge the reality of any god._* And here is why I currently hold to such a position. Below are 11 facts I must consider when evaluating the claim made by certain theists that a particular god exists in reality. To be clear, these are not premises for any argument which _concludes_ there to be no gods. These are simply facts I must take into account when evaluating the verity of such a claim. If any of the following facts were to be contravened at a later time by evidence, experience, or sound argument, I would THEN have good reason to acknowledge such a reality. 1. I have never been presented with a functional definition of a god. 2. I personally have never observed a god. 3. I have never encountered any person who has claimed to have observed a god. 4. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 5. I have never been presented with any _valid_ logical argument, which also introduced demonstrably true premises that lead deductively to an inevitable conclusion that a god(s) exists in reality. 6. Of the many logical syllogisms I have examined arguing for the reality of a god(s), I have found all to contain a formal or informal logical fallacy or a premise that can not be demonstrated to be true. 7. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 8. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 9. I have never knowingly experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 10. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed appears to have *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 11. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have been presented have either been refuted to my satisfaction or do not present as _falsifiable._ ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the reality of any particular god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. I answered it. Just because Christianity is true doesn't mean I would have to follow it or agree with it. Analogy, if you knew a baby was gonna be born and that baby would grow up to kill millions. Christianity means different things to people. There are so many Bibles and so many denominations. There's no real answer to the question since no one can agree on what Christianity even means.😂
Your question is not difficult to answer Mr Turek. And I will tell you, it is most definitely evidence…and logic…that prevents me from having confidence in your claims of a god.

It absolutely can. For a mentaly preserved human (exc. Psychopaths, sociopaths and narcissists to name some). However if the material world is all there is helping others is beyond moronic. Most of the time evidence isn't the issue for people.

Touché, Frank.
Btw here’s what I mean this isn’t stand alone this prophecy is about Jesus’s betrayal
Zechariah 11:12-13
New International Version
12 I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.
13 And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”-the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.
Now i cross reference this with the story in the new testament and compare
Mathew 27
3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”
“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”
5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left.
@jadedrac0 Sure, to clarify I think Frankie-poo is just being a bit silly saying most people don't care about evidence. No shade on you

If you want go read jubilees
It was found with the dead sea scrolls. It has many details in it also.
@@gradyjohnson7853 I re-read the passages in preparation for my original reply. I couldn't find any reference to "He did not give his first or his best". "Deeply mysterious" - as someone whose expertise in science is considerable, I can confidently say to you that when someone tells you that the universe is "beyond us", they're trying to con you.
Going into biology, researchers are forced to admit that life begun as a massive information infusion, that it has complexity and functional specification (we see these things in stuff like languages). Stuff like ATP does not come randomly into being, it's too complex for that. The information in all kinds of life is NOT random; experiments reveal that most organisms would be severely impaired or fail to exist at all if even one gene is disturbed (such as mutation and breeding experiments on fruit flies). Any decent calculation of probabilies about any of the things I've cited reveals that your magical atheist faith of self-spawning primordial chaos is utterly improbable, that it would require tons of miracles in a row.

They do that because they are dogmatic in their thinking. The Bible teaches (in Romans among other places) that if people reject God it is because they hate God and his rules and they want to sin etc. etc. Because they believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God, in their minds that must be the reason anyone does not believe in God. The reason that practicing sinners get agitated when they hear the gospel is that they're dedicated to their pleasurable iniquity and refuse to part with it, and to yield to authority.

“Si c’est vrai, ce sera une calamité, car cela ferait payer de pauvres malheureux qui n’ont rien”
If you want to know why someone doesn't believe your religion, ask them why they don't believe.

It makes a little sense for an atheist to say even if Christianity were true, he would not follow it since as Frank says, he doesn't want there to be a God.
So which God do you believe in that does not exhibit abhorrent behavior? The God I worship does not owe me anything. I don't think it's abhorrent that the God I worship gave me the gift of free will. The free will to worship Him or not. What greater gift could I ask for?

I understand the dream but I also realize that it is only a dream. There is no evidence whatsoever for God and there are strong indications against the existence of God, such as the great cruelty present in the natural world.
The evidence is everywhere. Just your ability to think and ask the questions is evidence. Life on this planet and the factual recorded and preserved evidence in God's word...

What aspects of the NT do you believe are true and which do you know are true?
This is a bad argument. What about asking a Christian if Christianity is not true and they don’t want to believe it because they want to have their life governed. When you can replace Christianity with any phrase and get the same point across, your argument falls apart.
Does anyone see that this is a strawman argument? i.e. Knock down the false premise that skeptics don’t want to be controlled by God.
It is absolutely a fallacious argument.
It's their only way to be heard. Logic and evidence are their worst enemy.

This is so true and I love listening to Dr Turek. My go to question for most is "Do you have children?". My response, "Then proof isn't what you need, you need faith".
What is faith? How do you get faith? Is faith reliable or not, can faith fail you?
By that standard you can have faith in (believe) anything.
If God exists, the rational faith can save you.
The question is whether or not you accept the evidence God gives.
What God? Seen the followers. Some good some bad, just like real people Some very bad. No different.
He can't provide sufficient evidence, so he attacks the person asking for it.
I can provide sufficient evidence that you suck. Still looking for evidence about the excistance of God? Poor soul at this point you made a choice. And it is not due to lack of proof. Its just that you suck so much. However Jesus still loves you. 🎉

You missed the point of the video. He didn't "attack" anyone. He's trying to ascertain they're motivation and sincerity in finding the truth. There's no point in taking the time to prove anything if someone is not open to receiving it. You obviously have not seen most of his material as it provides mountains of evidence for God's existence. So the fundamental question still remains, if you were shown the truth, would you believe?

If it were true why I should worship a petty god which condones slavery, genocide, misogyny, rape, genital mutilation, animal sacrifice, infanticide, etc etc The Bible or any other holy text has no inherent authority or meaning. We are on a truth quest. The evidence led me out of faith and that hurts people like you because we won’t buy into it and line your pocketbook. Our human origins had a humble beginning and we are born whole and unblemished without any so called “sin nature”. I don’t do “fun/destructive” things. I take care of myself and those I love because we are a social species who desires for fellow man to thrive. You asserted Jesus is the truth without proving it and equate believing it with having a moral upright life when in contrast it is self righteous behavior. Prayer does nothing and you don’t know my heart…
Sir, if you think Jesus Christ condones those things then you are mistaken. If you read the sermon on the mount, there you will see His morality, and it’s far above what is here today. He’s not a mean God condoning rape and genocide etc He’s a kind and loving God who humbled Himself, came down in human form, was tortured, and killed just so that we could be absolved of our sin debt and live with Him. @@TheoSkeptomai3absolutely, He’s showing me more and more things that I believe to be true about myself, Him, this world etc that aren’t true. In this way, I am constantly reexamining my beliefs and do infact owe it to myself to do so, as truth is extraordinarily important. And truly looking into Him is something I wish I did sooner. If Jesus Christ is truly who He claimed to be, and His sacrifice is real, then that is the most important truth in existence. But if He is not who He said He was, then everything He claimed and did, along with my faith, is entirely meaningless. Luckily the evidence points in my favor, and I suggest everyone takes the time to adequately examine Him and seek the truth about Him. If you asked me a few years ago what I believed about the world, God, our purpose here, etc, my answer would have been radically different than it is now. Take it or leave it, it’s your choice, but Jesus Christ is Truth, and has changed my life for the better. I was lost, and He found me. And so I encourage you to seek Him.
Dr. Turek claims that _"Jesus is the truth."_
If he provides sufficient objectively convincing evidence for that claim, I can rationally accept it.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgment as to the reality of any particular god until sufficient credible evidence is presented. My situation is that *_I currently have no good reason to acknowledge the reality of any god._*
And here is why I currently hold to such a position.
I have never encountered _vice versa._
11. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have been presented have either been refuted to my satisfaction or do not present as _falsifiable._
ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the reality of any particular god.
I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgment until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstantiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._*
I welcome any cordial response. Peace.
Very thorough, good points. As a skeptic myself I can relate to all of this. Hopefully people can see from this list that it's not based on some kind of fist-shaking defiance, it's simply not having seen a strong enough case for theistic/religious claims.
