Your consistent persona is what keeps me on your channel and it will definitely keep me in the future as well. To me your authenticity proved itself. While you may not be in higher tier by subs but honestly I find your advices and perspective valuable on a advanced level and that puts you in my opinion among those that have high subs. I don't doubt in your success.
Subs is just a matter of time and dependent on UA-cam's push. Any channels with a large following is always due to YT pushing their channel (at random imo). I always choose to focus on what I have control over and see if I craft my own way to success. Just beats hoping for success.
When I first saw your videos, I thought you just deserved more subs and views haha. Some people are just haters man... We will just keep doing what we're doing and have fun
subs and views are all in YT's control. I've seen it myself before, a simple push by YT brought in 3 years worth of subs and views. Honestly, no matter how much we think how great our content is, ultimately if there's no push, there's no views and there's no subs. But again, nothing I can do about it so no complains from me :)
Retired! Don't Give Up: As a new channel I need to focus on my quality, and how i come across, to the viewer, yes being natural in front of the camera is vital but that also takes time, and although i prefer a script because i tend to forget important things , i have learned to record them later and edit them in. But scripted is noticed right away. Natural is always better, if only i can learn not to use the phrase "'ya know" i think i cut out several minutes in one video. lol Success will come and it will be earned and as you say once that tipping point is reached viewers can always go back and view some pretty good videos. thanks Kevin
haha, mine is scripted if you can't tell. I hate thinking about what to say or what not to say or what to edit out later. I like to keep my recording short and packed with info. It helps me in editing too, speeds thing up a lot. If you don't like scripting, perhaps consider doing point form to ensure you have what you want to say covered in the video.
Thanks for another thorough sharing. It's so true that consistency is important, and I think it's also because you consistently reflect on what you do. Therefore, there are improvements over time. Keep up your good work.
Interesting comment about niche Kevin. For example for me -as a coach I coach my clients on 360 success which entails mindset, productivity, career clarity , healthy habits, parenting , relationships, personal finance -so my videos do cover those various topics because they all are relevant to my coaching program. Difficult to say how it will impact my channel as I started two months ago but I plan to stick to those topics for now
You can probably find a common ground for all of the topics. Part of running a UA-cam channel involves having a good mindset, productivity, personal finance and management. I cover these topics from time to time but I use UA-cam as a way for me to sent these messages across.
I like your chill vibe and how you come across as genuine while also explaining things in a good way that’s easy to understand with examples showing what you mean. I don’t think I will consistent in creating my thumbnails or titles though because I like to experiment but my channel will be about philosophical and poetic monologues or dialogues so there will be a consistent niche. My name explains the rest, it will be like brain substance being all on the floor. I like to read and listen to create from that for myself but I think it would be strange if there wouldn’t be at least thousands of people all over the world that wouldn’t be interested as the years goes by. I hold myself to a pretty high standard as a perfectionist, it’s okay if I need to study experts in cinematography for months, play around with editing tools and prompt the AI for months and then take some weeks to make a good video as long as I can be proud of it and view it as a masterpiece. I like how the movie ”Waking Life” is made and I’m inspired by it but the graphics are too noisy for me, the dialogues need more depth and there need to be more action keeping the attention. So I’m already competing mentally with actual directors and I think it can be done thanks to AI. But soon I guess UA-cam will be flooded by AI-videos from all sorts of creators which is why I think I have something unique to provide as I search for depth packaged in beauty, rather than things happening on the screen for pure entertainment. What happens on the screen will be filled with action, surreal things and beauty. But the focus is on my thought provoking monologues.
I’m right at the start of my UA-cam journey (proud of 9 subs hehe). While it can be super disappointing at the start, I always try to remind myself that most big UA-camrs are YEARS into this. I won’t give up until I’m useful at least to one person. Thank you for your insights. Your authenticity is what makes all the difference here.
Thankyou Kevin, from David at Neutral Bay. Very good advice. I like how youve re defined "consistency" into a more practical useful manner. Thanks again.
Nice advice. Thanks. I am beginning to realize now that building UA-cam community is not as easy as I had thought... especially for visually impaired creators like me....

@@KevinChee the breakdown of various aspects of consistency beyond upload frequency is eye-opening, or should I say, humbling! Thank u for the hard work!
Hi Kevin Thank you for your video my channel is small but for me its about the dream i had just having my own channel that was big enough for me i sing on here but don't want to be a broken record any tips will be glady appreciated 😊
that's a great dream. Lots to improve for sure but if you are serious about it, consider having a proper backdrop, full body video. Singing is not just voice but also involves body movements, that would be the first thing I improve.
I started my UA-cam channel a week ago. I just started, I don't have prior experience with UA-cam, I don't have any video equipment and just using my mobile phone and laptop, and I just started to film and publish. Not caring much about the returns on the short run, but looking forward to stay consistent and gain experience along the way. I guess to start, to be consistent, and to always learn and better your-yesterday-self is the key to success.
Lex Friedman early vids were all over the place, Ryan Trahan, Mr. Beast, Super Eyepatch Wolf... same. Once they learned how to youtube they took off but with a consistent theme each. They say it takes 7yrs on yt before u blow up. All of the aforementioned creators took right around that long. That's why it's so important to use yt to sell a product u make. Selling a product has the highest ROI.
Ya. Those titles. Give a hoodwink. Duck and dive. Lately there are channels which I watch less due to anticipated title deception. They'll come to learn with decreasing watch time hours. Or, will they?
Hi Kevin, I don’t know if I asked you this before but I don’t mind doing your captions the ones for the deaf because when you have a strong accent UA-cam doesn’t always understand what you’re saying. And the captions which are for the death will come out wrong if I’ve already asked this then I apologise, but if you want me to let me know.
I really appreciate your advice Kevin plus I'm abit in 2 worlds cause I got my first copy right strike on only one song out of alot of songs I have sung I didn't know how I got that cause I upload all my solos from my singing app smule now I don't know what is or what isn't copyrighted as I don't have a working laptop any tips Kevin
This evening I had youtube remove 30% of the views from my latest video & cut my click rate in half. Do you know why this sort of thing happens? Are we able to contact youtube to correct this? It was my best & most difficult to produce video to date, makes me want to make simpler ones so I can just do a bunch of them...
Hey Kevin, I don’t know if I asked you this before I don’t remember I have a brain colander but the UA-cam subtitles do not really do well for people who have an accent. And it has occurred to me but I don’t mind doing your subtitles. The closed captions not the ones that are on screen, because the deaf need to know what you’re talking about and I have heard another guy who has a very strong Israeli accent and I know what he is saying and I can understand what he is saying even when he gets the occasional word wrong because this is his second language But the bot doesn’t it occurred to me that I don’t mind doing your captions because the generated ones are a bit trash. If I have already asked you this then I apologise but if not or if you would like me to please let me know.
hey. I do have my entire script for the video so they are my subtitles if I need to use it. I just don't upload them, never really look into it but this is the first time I'm hearing about auto-caption done by YT. I will consider adding my own captions in the future so thanks for bringing it up.
That's my experience as well but I have seen those who can get thousands of views easily but gained no subs from it. I would say it depends on the video style and niche as well.

Hi
This isnt a small channel?
I don't know, you can do your own research by asking channels below 10000 subs what is their definition of a 'small channel'
Dude please get a hair cut.
well this is a first
Great video but Graham is a terrible example, dude scammed his audience and he recycles his videos every 3 months
you'll need to define your definition of scam
