BIONICLE Animation -- Pohatu's Arrival (Fan-made)
Вставка

- This is more of an experimental vid, but a bit of nostalgia played a part in driving me to try and make it as well. That, and the fact that we never actually had any official pictures or clips of Pohatu's assembly. Consider this a stand-in.
EDIT: Yay, 100 000+ views. - Фільми й анімація
I love how Pohatu's easygoing nature shines through in the animation here. He doesn't look too distressed by waking up in shambles, is only mildly annoyed to see some of the wildlife sampling his lungs, and prioritizes what is basically footwear before ever realizing he also needs his mask. And then when the cap of the pod is too heavy, he just works smarter rather than harder and kicks up the stone beneath the cap.
I Believe You Mean rahe(?)
@@JayThresherShark There are animations
@@ivarramirezpaulsen8212 Rahi are all the cyborg ish cratures inside the gsr
But there were organic animals in the endless ocean planet before
In the lengends of mata nui video game , he just throw a rock at gali for no reason like bro woke up and choose violence
Lungs are mentioned at points during the the Piraka arc, like when Thok begins to suffocate after Irnakk brings his armor to life, and also when Irnakk blasts Zaktan with a Zamor. There's also the Mask of Underwater Breathing, and the MNOG II had air-bladders, which they wouldn't need without lungs.
Good points to bring up.
Also the “Bio” part in Bionicle literally stands for “biological” so yeah it totally fits
I remember thinking this was strange back when I first saw it and didn’t know much about bionicle lore, but now that I do this is probably the most canonically accurate depiction of how the toa reconstructed themselves, and it still matches the 2001 style perfectly
You can tell from the comments just how deeply the community loved this Lego series. I can't believe it withered away.
Phenomenal job. What a beautiful animation. Great tribute to a great loreverse.
the community is still here! :D
How could their love wither away with a series like that?
@@cathleenmoyle1476 The series withered away.
This is nostalgic, disturbing, and awesome at the same time.
Disturbing?
@@KristheDUMBASS this man literally made himself organs and stuff while building himself together, that shit disturbing.
@@joxyver Yeah
Yeah when the veins start putting toghether that made me scared
I love the 2001 stuff thrown into this. Like the bird. Or the idea that the Toa didn't get their colour until they put on their mask, shown only (IIRC) in a single picture of Tahu assembling himself. Or how much this really has the same feel as those wonderful old Tahu/Onua videos.
I also quite like the fact that those pointless shoulderballs and Pohatu's "shoes" were shown in detail. They're the little things that made him unique (that and the fact that Artakha put his torso on the wrong way round)
Oh, Artakha!
Really only missing the little pegs on his legs
@@CloakedPerv nah, that was only for pohatu nuva. my pohatu mata model didn't have it.
@@White-qw8xe just Google TOA pohatu, it has two black technic pins on each leg :0
@@CloakedPerv my comment was wrong. I just looked at my pohatu figure and it had the pins. sorry.
People never really liked the brown toa, pohatu to be specific, but for some reason, he was always my favorite.
According to who? I always thought he was cool, but my favorites were Onua and Tahu.
SimplyJay kopaka was the best (he was like batman)
No one bought the brown Toa cause they didn't really like the color, why do you think lego went from brown, to yellow and orange?
pedro pusso muro
Kopaka may have been my third favorite.
Yoshimitsu II
They didn't switch to yellow and orange until much later. Brown was one of the main colors for the majority of the series run, and will be again for the new sets.
For a fan made animation, that was really impressive. I love the way you had his muscles and lungs form, as they are meant to be partially organic. It was also a nice touch when that little bird thing started biting his lung. Awesome job!

@@biohazardcombine1909 its good
SimplyJay He didn’t make it. He recorded the clip no hate!
I mean, he is biomechanical half organic, half robot
@@jaydenbuilds7086 Oh? Well, props to whoever did
Wow! That was nicely animated! I've seen the canon clip where Onua literally pulls himself back together, but your version shows both the mechanical and biological regeneration. Seeing Pohatu's lungs grow back was morbidly fascinating. Man, Toa are pretty resilient if they can do that.
TheStarryArcher1213 why is your banner cowbelly... lol
Yeah, that was awesome. It really shows how detailed these beings are.
Love the attention to detail; especially how his arm seem to shiver for a moment when he picked up the rock :b
Very well done! :)
Really shows they have muscles!
That subtle touch added a lot
Synthetic melt
You managed to represent their organs while keeping the style extremely faithful to the sets.
Awesome, just awesome, and definitely how the movies should have looked like.
+RobertNestaTravaglio
Right? The bionicles in the movies looked NOTHING like the real sets... I mean, c'mon.
I'm glad Gali didn't have the right mask in the movie because her nuva mask sucked
RobertNestaTravaglio but that ending though
Cool car 161 ex
Genos I like it
Nice!
I like the mixing of asthetics between the pieces on the actual toy, and the muscles and organic touches from the first 3 Bionicle movies.
I’ve always wondered why they needed to “breathe!” They’re biomechanical!!!!
Exactly, BIOmechanical that means that even they have mechanical components they are biologic life forms
personally i find this very strange 🤔🤔🤔
The name is on the lines of biological and chronicle, but it sounds like mechanical as a complete coincidence but fitted
This is the greatest! I love the old simple 3d animation! Just like Tahu's birth, but more detailed with the muscle fibers and longer run time! Can't believe it's taken 9 years to see this!
ya know I could never determine in the lore weather or not they arrived dismembered like this, seems kinda freaky, and is somewhat at odds with how their bodies are structured in mask of light.
According to the books, they were indeed partially disassembled when they reached the island.
Titanoverlord
I know this is an old video but how can i learn more about the bionicle lore?
Gable Check out BIOSECTOR01 (BS01) and also ask for a list of media in chronological order on the BZPower forum (the largest BIONICLE fan forum.) The TTV Boards is also a great place for BIONICLE fans. I would start with either Tale of the Tohunga on Gameboy or the famous Mata Nui Online Game though :)
@@ryans-archive Nah, their parts disassembled due to lack of the way that they stayed in the water for too long, according to the books like Vrahno said, they are completely were non-assembled and they did not have organic parts because in the comics they were the same as the original toys.
Didn’t expect to see the bio mechanic aspect in clearer picture.
Dude, that is so freaking amazing! From one Animator to another, you rock!
Note: Bionicle was my childhood.
I like how you mimicked the 90s/early 2000s CGI graphics ascetic
this is really cool. the organic parts are really well done
I did not expect this to have been made by John Carpenter... For real though it's actually great there's a good sense of style and character here; when his elbow trembles as he holds up the boulder is a nice attention to detail. I could easily see this as having been made as a mid 2000s Nickelodeon show or something
Thanks for the kind words! I have been working on another Bio-related animation since like September. It's gonna be about three times as long as this one, and it's approx 75% done. Hopefully, it will be to people's liking.

…Bionicle should have hired you… you mean Lego.
Vikrinox It wasn't. This was made by the video maker, and first posted online 2012. It's a fan animation. You may be thinking of the old Onua assembling animation made for the game The Legend of Mata Nui. Or maybe Vrahno sent this into LEGO in 2008, but I doubt it.
See, this is a Bionicle animation done RIGHT. I'm not saying the movies were bad (except for the 4th), but this is fucking good. I highly hope you make more.
Glad you liked it! And no need to hope that I make more, because I already am making one. I'm working on the last scene, so it should be finished within a couple of months.
It will have a very different tone than this one, kinda similar to the old Flash animations, but I hope people won't mind.
Vrahno I'm not putting any specifications on you. Keep up the good work.
Vrahno what is it called?

I was at least 4 years old when Bionicle first came to stores around my home town. I have to say, this hit me where i feel the most. ❤️
This video brings back so many memories. I used to watch it over and over as a child, I just wanna say you made my childhood so special and filled it with magic and imagination. Thank you
Revisiting this in December 2018...
I feel like it's been ages since I first saw this animation, but to this day I can still appreciate all of the attention to detail that went into this, as well as the unique squash-n-stretch that you don't often see in Bionicle-related works.
The nostalgia... This is incredible. Perfect job making him bio mechanical. Really love his arm shaking when he picked up the rock.

Also, I love the emphasis on how they're BIOmechanical. Too bad a lot of 'fans' still think they're robots :/
Stone Keyboard I agree a lot with the last bit of your comment. How can they be fans if they don't know one of the most important parta of the lore?
Stone Keyboard yea bionicles are mechanical outside and organic inside (its similar to insects having endoskeletons)
You don't determine who is a fan just by knowledge alone. If they love something, they can love it. Not everybody needs to know everything about something to enjoy it.
@@samjupin1156 Right? There was some gatekeeping going on, glad you intervened.
They should be robots. If they’re so gappy how do they have organs
I really like that Pohatu shows muscles and other organs. It was the right decision, since it was necessary to show that Bionicles are not just robots, but biomechanical creatures.
This is just awesome. It's got way much more detail than the videos LEGO did in 2001 for the Toa.
Incredible! I love how you showed that he is not a mindless robot but a powerful, biomechanical entity in the piecing-together scene and the usage of the Kakama at the end. Looks akin to the opening of a film.
I'd love to see your versions of the Toa Mata, Mctoran, and Rahi, used as unlockable aesthetics for the eventual Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui.
i honestly love the attention to detail and it really reminds us about how the characters in bionicle actually look like, metallic exoskeletons with flesh and nerve under it, not just a bunch of robots.
2019 and it STILL looks good!
Have I ever mentioned, how beatiful the whole thing is? How curious and gentle the awoken pohatu is, how we can see the creation of life, or rather its vessel, in real time? Vrahno is certainly a creative mind and a skilled pair of hands.
lmfao
Eww. It's so organic and gross. I love it!
Coming back to this to say it altered my brain chemistry as a child and i am now working on a little art project to explore this image of what "bio mechanical" means in detail. Something so unique about the way organic is woven into mechanical here
Such an awesomely sound way to animate a bionicle and show the organs as well!
love the fact you made pohatu look bio mechanicle like all the bionicle beings are
The nostalgia... I watched this in when I was 10 years old, before I even had a youtube account. I always thought this was an official animation from Lego and was mesmerized by how smooth the animation was. Seeing this again 10 years later brings back a lot of memories.
this is FANTASTIC! you really put a lot of character into the animation! thanks a ton for making this XD
Durge, is that you?

He's no man he's no computer he's POHATU TOA OF REGENERATION! (had to)
Ah, this brings back memories. I'm always glad to see others have as fond memories of these stories as I do. Well done on this animation by the way, sometimes the frame rate is a bit low but all the animation and rigging seems really solid!
That last bit at the very end with the dragon was a nice touch as well. ;- )
I remember watching this when I was a young child. Wonderful that I managed to rediscover it.
this truly is awesome, showing that Bionicle is about bio-mechanical beings, not just machines
I always saw them, similar to bugs
Pohatu was my first Bionicle ^^
Hey me too!
Me too guys
Mine was Lewa Phantoka.
Seeing this I remembered Tren Krom being the first "operator of Mata Nui". Those biological parts look like Tren Krom mimicry. Amazing.
I remember watching this as a kid, and it still holds up
wow.....this is bloody fantastic. I never expected to see such detailed organ animation in a bionicle video of all sorts, but this is not only animated wonderfully, but also has a very clear and interesting take upon the bionicle anatomy. Great job, clearly a lot of nostalgia went into this :D
This is my favourite representation of bionicle. It's one of the few animations to show them as both mechanical and organic living creatures
Bionicle just got creepier and awesomer
Mackenzie Rayne how?
Kmpisces (Home to:Five Nights At Jerry's) guts
Says the guy with a five nights at Freddy's mechanic monster as his profile pic! 😜
Mackenzie Rayne
Mackenzie Rayne yeah true but in this pohatu can't talk sigh laugh none of what he does in the movies
I cant imagine how much time you spend doing this, amazing!
This is amazing! Dont think you wouldnt be able to do the other Toa's! Incredible how you put in the organic elements. Please keep up this wonderfull work, I wish I could support you in some way! Miss Bionicle so much, specially the Toa Mata/Nuva storyline.
i still think pohatu shold be the world cup mascot
that was the greatest thing i have ever seen.
I always imagined the organic regeneration process taking a while to occur. Also, bird took poop.
Wow! Love your spin on the crash site scene! Works really well with them being bio-mechanical. Great work!
dude good job a little creepy but good job man
Love it! Pohatu Mata and Nuva are the best! Never understood why they didn't make a tv show of the Mata Nui story and the Metru Nui story.
The Toa Mata didn't get anything because they were the first things. They were lucky to get games, because they hadn't had the funding. The Toa Metru had their own movie, though. What I wonder is why the Ignika and Mahri basically got nothing; they had the BEST story! Sure, it was dark, but that was part of the beauty of it.
SoniKzone Agreed. The ongoing three Nui story following the Mask of Life when everything started going completely wrong were a few of the best years, regardless of how the sets were (I'm looking at you, Mistika Nuva).
SoniKzone
At least they got books.
@@Mist2 I mean to be completely fair, there was already a precedent set (that no one complained about) changing the models of our characters slighted. The 2006 Toa look nothing like their 2007 counterparts and no one complained, but no one complained because they looked cool.
Mistika didn't have that cool factor imo, they look like the Stars Piraka :/
Man, dude, this was awesome. Absolutely stunning animation. I'd definitely like to see more stuff like this!
When I first saw this years ago, I thought it was something officially released by the Lego Group. Even at 7 years old, the animation holds up rather well. Whenever I think of the toa assembling themselves, this is the clip I think of.
Wow I like the organic feel I mean they are biological (Bio)nical
remember, the canon reason the toa look like robots is because they were in their pods far longer than they were supposed to be, and their flesh and meat rotted away
Wow, this is truly incredible. You've made a masterpiece. Keep up the good work!
Good work. This impressed me very much. I very much like the style you went for in terms of the model, and the scenery, and whatnot.
nice animation
Nostalgia
This is really awesome. Adding in the organic parts (and the rahi eating the lung) is a really nice touch.
The atmosphere throughout this clip is astounding. Awesome work, dude.
Can u do the arrivals of the other five toa?
This animation gave me an idea:
What if one made a stop motion animation with Bionicle figures and used clay or something to represent organic tissue?
Holy shit. This is the best thing I've seen in a long time. Dat Nostalgia Feel....It feels really good. I love you even more for this. Just love how close it looks to the one with Onua and still takes some bits from the films. This is just too damn perfect.
I keep forgetting the bio part of bionicle, but it's honestly one of the coolest parts of them
Potato is best.
Could you make a video for each of the toa?
Birdistheword628 I'd rather devote my time to making something more interesting, something "new". I mean, seeing the Toa assemble themselves would be awesome, but making the same animation six times would be a bit of a chore, I think.
Birdistheword628 there's already ones for Onua and tahu
Beautiful. Just Beautiful. I love that fact that you put a lot of emphasis on the fact that Pohatu is also organic and not just mechanical.
I have no words to describe how amazing that was. Also, it's nice you showed the Kakama mask's power.
That Was disturbing
what program you use for that vid?
+Scorpion__PvP Blender for animation, Sony Vegas for editing.
+Vrahno ok tnx
I love how you pointed out the biomechanical aspect of the Toa :D
This video is truly a piece of art!
I love the detail you made by adding that muscles like things in the limbs of pohatu, for a fan animation this is far beyond the good
Body's upside down, 0/10.
Wait this was a fan animation? Not some forgotten studio thing from like 2002? Nevermind, 12/10 this was awesome!
The body's upside-down because it's _Pohatu._
There's something extremely unnerving about this video. I think there was a little too much detail, and the part with the Rahi biting at his lungs ma have been a bit much. ._. .
Correction: That bird isn't a Rahi. Rahi are creatures created by Makuta, and that bird, well, it's just a bird.
SpaceMuffin It depends on what canon you follow honestly. Unless I'm wrong, this is based on the organic bird commonly seen in the opening for The Legend of Mata Nui. However, in the same opening that was redistributed by Deep Brick from the beta CD, the model of that bird was replaced with an actual biomechanical Rahi.
Either way, this was meant to be one, this model was just a placeholder or something.
The Earl of Muffinslap You're thinking rhakshi
Meh, nearly a decade and I fatfingered the proper spelling.
The Earl of Muffinslap Rahi are basically animals. Rahi bulls, Rahi cats, etc. The Brotherhood of Makuta, before they turned to corruption, were supposed to create all of the Rahi/animals for the Matoran Universe, until Teridax took over and they became warmongering.
You know what I consider this very animation canon. Because of how well its made! Wish we could see the other toa's assembly aswell:D
I loved watching this video as a kid and it still holds up after 10 years
From all these comments, the animation, the love we still have for this franchise still reminds me that Bionicle is still alive and well. That we as a community still come together as brothers and sisters to tell our amazement and love for this. We are the ones that continue it's story, now and forever. The greatness of bionicle will never die
HIS TORSO IS UPSIDE DOWN
Damo's Stuff lol
*Damo's Stuff* I'm not sure if you're trying to make a joke, but the torso piece was upside-down in the original set.
Its supposed to be.
Damo's Stuff It was like that in the set too, to give him a more strongman bulky look.
dude that's DURGE

I realy hope youw ill do more of these Vrahno, you make great work of bionicle
wow, the accuracy with this is amazing! You done good!
I like it it’s kinda gross I mean the heart is 🤮🤢
do you mean the lungs?
I guest a lot of effort went into this, I respect you for that.
Ah yes my favourite part about Bionicle is when a tiny dragon was eating the Toa's lungs.
I like the overall concept of the designs, I like how the robotic body is more of a shell holding organs and such, and it does a good job of portraying Pohatu. While I think a graphical touch up could be added, It still was cool to see. Nice work!
too damn amazing. Plus its my favourite character. I love all the organic liberties you took too!
The legend lives on...

And this adds one VERY important detail that the movies, games, comics and animations all seem to be forgetting (or ust taking for granted);
