Bionicle Animation - The Makuta Arrive in Karda Nui (And Thanks for 100 k Subs!)

- I would have called this another "animation quickie" but as usual, animating it was anything but quick. At first I just wanted to show off some new 3D Bionicle models and find interesting ways of showcasing the characters' shape-shifting abilities, and the idea ballooned into this little scene or vignette. I will make a standard 3D turnaround video dedicated to the models later. With these, I finally have models of all the regular 2008 Phantoka and Mistika characters, plus a couple more.
Immense thanks for all my dedicated viewers who have helped me reach 100,000 subscribers. After a long wait, UA-cam even sent me one of those Silver Play Button awards. This achievement still seemed so far off just a few months ago. Of course I should also give my gratitude to all the niche media franchises and their loyal fan followings that I have piggybacked on -- Lego Bionicle, the Godzilla brand, Transformers (to a degree) and even my old videos about prehistoric documentary series (which I still like despite not having made anything new about them for a decade or so).
Though practically all of the content I upload here amounts to derivative fan work rather than fully original material, I do hope that they offer some entertainment or bring back fond memories to viewers who are interested in the subjects I have listed. I realize that my Bionicle-inspired videos are not the ones that get the most attention, so it might seem odd to have this be my "100 k sub special", but it just so happened that I received the YT award as I was finishing this clip.
And yes I used my real name on the plate (I don't think I've ever kept it a secret, I just didn't really ever bring it up) since I never liked my YT channel name and never use it in real life. I won't change it though, since it's the name most people know me by online.
This is why Karda Nui should've had it's own Movie.
Along with Voya Nui and Marhi Nui.
I think a fan movie may have done it more justice, they should have used the graphics from the commercials yoo
Yeah all 3 time periods deserved a film, plus it would have been awesome to see the final Battle between Mata Nui and Makuta Terridax.
Gotta love how 2006-2008 were the most exciting and climactic years of Bionicle, and we never got films for any of it.
But hey, we got The Legend Reborn at least, right? :')
@@sanctumscream372 Well that's the thing, too much stuff, too many characters, and a hell to animate. For Metru / Hordika they already cut so many things.
I was thinking the same thing.
That shot of the swarm of Makuta moving out gave me chills. Excellent work!
Yeah same. I am actually thinking of getting the 2008 sets now
The way Antroz takes off and Vamprah silently glides in the background.... ominously fluid. You can feel their effort.
Marvelous Vrahno!!
@@imbored394 You're not the only one
@@imbored394 I want to get Antroz.
I know! Only thing is I don't think Krika, Gorast, and Bitil were insects yet, but idk if they were bats either. I forget if the team arrived at the same time, same place. I thought if they did they split off immediately and it was going down to the swamp that mutated those three into insects.
Seriously, the scene of the Makuta flying is glorious! I love how much you've improved since Roodaka in a Bar
Where can I see that? I always wondered what people ate in the Matoran Universe because food is talked about but never seen. I've actually written an entire list of Matoran cuisine that I imagined in my spare time (sad, I know), together with alcoholic beverages. I imagine Roodaka would only go to a very high end bar in Metru Nui where she has her own booth and anyone sat there has to move when she arrives. Or maybe it would be a dead end bad guy saloon on Voya Nui where they serve Vortixx Vodka which is illegal throughout most of the Universe.
Destralian wine is a claret, manufactured on the continent of Destral. It is a popular vintage and a favourite among the Makuta. Makuta Miserix had Destralian claret distilled in his personal vineyard, in the protosteel walls of his chateau in the armoured-spider infested Valley of Karnax on Destral. After Makuta Teridax had overthrown Miserix and taken over his residences, he celebrated with a two thousand year old bottle of Chateau-de-Karnax.
@@tombarter3287 nice.
According to the wikia, the Vuata Maca Tree's fruits provide energy.
And the video is in Vrahno's channel, though it's a non-canon gag animation test, but pretty funny nonetheless.
@@Garmagic2yFhenrakh9 Sounds like the Matoran would use Vuata Maca Juice as a kind of Red Bull. Maybe mix it with Madu Vodka! Drink it out of the shell with a little umbrella in it. They could have parties by the Great Sea like in the Caribbean.
@@Garmagic2yFhenrakh9 Vuata Maca juice was an energy drink consumed by the Matorans, often mixed with Matu Cabolo Vodka and served in a coconut shell during Matoran parties on the beaches of the Island of Mata Nui. Matoran were also known during their time in Metru Nui and on the Island of Mata Nui for their production of Matoran Ale, which was served in various establishments throughout the Universe, as Matoran were the most widely spread species within it. Metru Nui was divided into specific districts. Convi-Metru was the entertainment district to which the working class of the city were drawn during their recreational hours and contained The Bohrok's Head, a popular pub, frequented by Lady Roodaka of the Visorak Horde, in order to gain information. Convi-Metru's upper levels boasted the Metru-Nui Opera House, of which Makuta Teridax was a frequent patron. The glitterati of Metru Nui also frequented Po-Plaza, a large plaza circling the peak of the highest mountain in Po-Metru, built around the utmost tip of Metru Nui, where the Vahki were built. Huge statues and colorful banners decorated the grounds, while restaurants and shops were built into the plaza walls. Amongst the popular sites in or near Po-Plaza were the the Universal Museum, and the former Turaga Hall, before Turaga Dume, for unknown reasons, made the Coliseum his place of residence and the centre of of government for the Turaga. Po-Plaza also boasted the Enua, the most prestigious restaurant in the universe, which was co-owned by Lord Pridak of the Barraki and reserved specifically for the wealthiest and most powerful residents of the city. One would often have to make reservations a decade in advance. However, being the co-owner and prior to the war of the six kingdoms, Pridak was allowed in whenever he wanted and had a specific booth reserved for himself. Anyone eating and/or drinking at and/or had reservations at the times he visited, were forced automatically to leave.
This actually looks like a scene from a movie with a decent budget, the Miramax vibes are strong and the character interactions are great. Best not to rehash what everyone's saying and just reiterate what a talent you are, congrats on 100K and I hope these animations lead to a very strong career for you.
Omg callan
i agree with you callan! vrahno's talent is fantastic, and i love watching his videos! his animation is great as well!
CallanLoF Omg! Why are you here, Callan?
@@Matoro0902_The_Wise Cause I'm a BIONICLE fan and Vrahno's beautiful work unites all fans of this franchise in praise.
He could REALLY work with the guy who made the miramax Inika and Mahri animations!
The way Chirox's chest spikes and other bits transform when he spreads his wings is such an interesting and subtle detail.
Love Mutran's body language, really captures his character
A huge congratulations! 100k is well deserved, and your animations are fantastic. It's always a better day when you publish one. Thank you so much!
Hey Eljay should I get 2008 sets?
@@imbored394 Sure, there are quite a few good ones.
Eljay Johnsen ok I might have to get the smaller sets first because I am running low on money. The 2008 sets do look amazing so yeah definitely gonna spend my money on the 2008 sets.
Thanks for the compliments and for your support!
The way it all moves is fantastic! It’s fluent and has that look to it that really makes you nostalgic for the old movies
Excellent work, can’t wait to see more!
Saw this on Reddit and as soon as I clicked the link, I knew it was you Vrahno.
Holy hell, this is absolutely bloody fantastic. I'm at a loss for words. This is truly incredible work. Mindblowing. You need to form your own production studio man. This kind of stuff will create a long life for you. Well deserved 100,000 subscribers. Keep it up.
EDIT: This makes me want to buy Mutran now. Should have gotten him when I had the chance back in 2008!
Good idea, I already ordered Vamprah and Bitil. The only problems are the brittle 2008 joints tho.
But I'll be using them for MOCs anyway so it doesn't matter for me, I can simply use other joints...
I was able to get Chirox not too long ago.
Hello TheShadowedOne or should i said A Dark Hunter that has a tail as his third leg.
@@greatmiru2064 Curse you Teridax! And that's a stigma! It's a third leg! Not a tail! LOL.
@@TheShadowedOne1 YOU thought you are second to no one? YOU you second to ME!
So, we’re all agreeing that 1:13-1:22 is the best shot of the video, yeah?
Totally, it's really kino.
Holy crap this is incredible! Just the way each Makuta flies is so well done. I’d love to see close ups on some of the other models as well as an Icarax model sometime just to round out the group,
I love how they're comparing their mutations on the rahi as if they were MOCs xd
What are MOCs, please?
@@Javert2012 My Own Creation. When you create something new with LEGO
1:18 I love how when they all fly by, Krika just jumps and seems to be rapidly descending compared to the rest since he is the only one with no flight capability. 😂
That's a cool interpretation on the Makuta ability of creating (or in this case altering) rahi!
The best part about this whole video is the fact that not one word is spoken, yet we understand everything the Makuta do. An outstanding demonstration of "Show don't tell." Phenomenal!
This is incredible! That shot where they all fly off in the distance in particular was just badass! I get major Miramax movie vibes from this. I was always sad this storyline never had a dedicated movie.
If Bionicle was still alive and going im pretty sure LEGO would have hired you for a Bionicle movie/Short - Amazing Work!
Very nice! This warms my heart good seeing some old classic Bionicle.
This was amazing! The characterization is spot on, and the way they move feels exactly how they would in canon, right down to the use of their mask powers (such as Krika and Mutran). And it looks gorgeous! That part with light framing them from the front in particular looks beautifully done!
Congratulations on the 100k subs, may you have many more in the future ... At the end of the animation he should have said: "This is how BIONICLE Mistika and Phantoka starts".
This is honestly remarkable! Bravo my friend, bravo!
That moment the other Makuta flew by... just awesome... and krika being the one jumping like a grass hopper
...
POST MORE EVEN THO I KNOW ANIMATIONS TAKE MONTHS OR YEARS
Congratulations on the silver play button! You deserve it. These videos are amazing AND inspiring. Thank you for helping the flame in the Bionicle community stay lit.
So much personality without any dialogue! Fantastic work!
I love the fact that you put in the details of them modifying the Rahi. It makes me happy to see so many talented people keeping bionicle alive.
The style of animation, sound design, and general vibe just feel so much like the mirimax films.
These animations that you've done from all the way back in 2010 to now are so impressive I'm genuinely in awe, they evoke the same feeling in me that I feel when watching any of the official Bionicle movies. If there's ever gonna be a huge project to make another Bionicle movie, having you work on it would be just as good if not even better than all the people who worked on the original movies. God wouldn't that really be something to have if not movies then maybe like, short episodic series of the rest of the Bionicle story arcs? If I had the resources/time/whatever it takes to make that happen I would in a heartbeat, and you would be one of the first people I'd reach out to.
Holy crap this is beyond impressive! No words can describe how amazing these are, I'm impressed.
Imagine what the makuta sets could have been with cloth wings. Antroz’s massive wings look incredible here!
How in god's name have I not found your channel until now? This is absolutely spectacular, this is truly what I'd expect from a movie adaptation.
Everyone: fly
Krika: boing
Masterfully done. Those winged animations are fluid and eye catching as heck.
Yeah I had to do a double take and check if this was from some commercial from lego or a discontinued animation project they had. I was blown away and made me get all excited in the same way I did when I was a kid watching the movies!! This is actually amazing and I hope to see more!!
I love the subtlety of Kriika just leaping, like, how does this dude fly?
Holy shit is this really cool; the work you do is truly spectacular man. Can't wait to see what's next!
The part where the rest of the makuta come flying in is the number one reason why I watch this over and over again. Excellent video!
OH MY GO-O-OD!
PLS MAKE BIONICLE 5 MOVIE!!!
This is fantastic! Amazing job!
I love the Mutran vs Chirox dynamic, and everything else from the comments :)
This animation and seeing Tohkann’s Island of Doom and City of the Lost short animations really give that Miramax Bionicle feel!
This is beautifully done!!
YO, please make more of these! this was absolutey amazing!
I like how they fiddle around with a rahi beast. Nice touch exploring their original purpose.
We love how Krika uses the ancient art of Jump Good.
Another thing: I discover that Mutran and Chirox can be easily get mixed as each other
Yooo, that was amazing! I love all the body language. Mutran's walk off the cliff was hilarious.
The best animation so far dude keep up the good work DONT EVER let bionicle die in your heart!
This looks as good as the Bionicle movies from way back! Awesome work!
Holy smokes!
This is amazing,
The animation looks incredible great job.
Holy fucking nostalgia dopamine rush this is amazing.
How do you not have more subs?!
I refuse to believe you only have 100k
2 years later and this holds up like gold
Man, it’s like my old toys coming to life. If you make a Mahri animation, I’d be roped in like a Disney fan
As someone who grew up on Bionicle, I have to say. This. Is. Absolutely. Amazing
*doubles over laughing* This is pretty much how I picture a bunch of Makuta reacting! You got it nailed dude!
All I can say if you had started a patreon I wouldn't be surprised if people wanted to support you in making full bionicle movies of the years that didn't get any
Wow... i truly miss Bionicle thanks so much for this one
Late to the party but absolutely amazing work man! A sub well earned
bro why does this have better animation quality than some of the movies, also now i want a series with the interactions of all the antagonist factions
We need some voices for this, it's fucking glorious!
One small lore inaccuracy: Gorast, Bitil and Krika were mutated into their insect forms by the mutagen leaking into Karda-Nui only after they arrived at the lower half of Karda-Nui "The Swamp of Secrets".(So lore-wise at this time they wouldn't look like the actual sets though even if you did know that it is undersatndable why you used theese models as coming up with new ones from scratch would not only take a long time but people probably wouldn't even recognize them)
I have no problems with this video other than that small nitpick.
Inaccurate, actually. Krika, Gorast & Bitil had already assumed those forms specifically for Karda-Nui, to adapt to its swamp environment. All the Pit Mutagen really did to them on a physical level was disable some of their 42 Kraata Powers, including shapeshifting. The only true mutation on the level of the Barraki-like transformation you seem to think they underwent was Gorast’s stinger, which was already part of her Swamp adapted form, but became functional. Krika’s unstable tangibility *could* be considered a physical mutation in that vein, but it didn’t really transform him or anything, it just made him phase in & out of reality.
That looks incredible!
god I could just watch this over and over
I LOVE the way you made Krika use his mask!
I got chills when all the Makuta flew across screen.
Fantastic job!!!
Wow, this looks amazing!!!😄
Incredible, i wont expect, to see this!!!
Ok, I'll say it:
How dare you make me yearn for the good ol' days back?
OHH SHHEET! Bionicle?! I haven't seen this franchise in a HOT minute, and all I have to say is...I'm old..goddamn it.
Still, really cool animation. Keep up the great work!
This is surprisingly great quality
you got that classic lego goofiness going. nice!
Antroz shoved chirox like " move your metal behind we've got work to do "
this is amazing work!
AWESOME! Great work
Bionicle lives thanks to enthusiasts like you!
Now, there is no excuse for there to be no movies from 2006-2008!
Maybe not this year, but someday, THERE WILL BE A FANMADE BIONICLE TRILOGY. YOUR VIDEOS ARE PROOF.
Seeing Krika fly by invoked an emotion I didn't know existed
Incredible work!
Phenomenal as always.
This looks incredible! I also quite like the detail of all the Makuta flying by while Krika uses his mask of repulsion to propel himself forward.
That scene when they all go flying by, that's the stuff that dreams are made of... well for Matoran, they'd be bad ones.
Okay, that was just AMAZING
Я просто обожаю биониклов, и верю, что они когда-то вернутся, либо сам стану делать 5 часть биониклов хд
I would actually like to see a feature length of this side of bionicle we never got, with the final moments of the G1 after the mask of light film and I honestly would wait if you were to perform such a task. Even though you may not but still, it's pretty good to where I'd actually watch an hour feature film if you ever did that :)
Dude, literally movie budget level. You need to be patreon
I love how Krika jumps
I want a fully animated and voiced movie for 1,000,000 subs. :D
Lol, I heard a door-opening sound effect from Lego Star Wars when Mutran and Vican(?) jumped off and took flight.
Why did I get a notification so late. This is incredible.
Congratulations
Wait this isn't a repost of a scene from a movie? Boy you are great at this.
I miss these toys.
dude this is awesome, I didnt know this existed
someone voice act this!!
this is beutiful.
This is really good.
My favourite Anti Toa Team
Awesome, Greetings from Colombia!
Actually amazing 10/10
OH MY GOD THATS BEST THING I VE SEEN IN MY LIFE
Our boi has done it again
