You can't beat well built equipment that stands the test of time. For us as far as chopper boxes go it's Meyer's. Ours are 40 years old and still going strong.

I sold a few of those in the late 80's and early 90s, and they were great wagons!

I can’t believe how good these wagons still look. We had Gehl’s and no room in the machine shed for them.

I can't think of another family owned dairy farm that is as nicely set up as yours. Your dad has made sure almost everything is shredded, he was smart to not buy a lot of things brand new and let someone else take the financial hit. So many farmers are riding around in 80k pickups and 2 million in equipment sets out in the weather!!

Just watching these many farm videos here on UA-cam, one can sure tell which farms keep up on the maintenance of their equipment and the ones do nothing and wonder why it's broken all the time. Keep up the good work Kip!! 🚜

good JOB Kip, enjoy your videos. your pride shows, in how well you keep your equipment, dirt and your home. you can always tell a good farmer by how well he keeps his house & equipment. plus, you're a dairy farmer and that makes it 100 times more difficult to keep things clean and in working order. good job.

Great video! Thank you for taking such good care of your silage bag! I help my dad run a silage bagging business and it breaks our hearts to see plastic and feed every where, but you do it perfectly! Great job!

Matthew, what is the latest technology you see in silage bagging? Reclaim the plastic? Some sort of auger unloading system? Maybe some type of zip lock closure etc,?

Nothing really new, just bigger baggers and fewer small farmers. Some states will recycle it, but they limit the amount they will take and they are pretty particular how clean it is! I have only seen auger unloading system for small grains not silage.

Hello from Rosholt Wisconsin, just a thought, with all those beautiful chopper wagons you might want to number them 1, 2,3,4 ect... It might be easier for maintenance reasons. Anyway great videos I love watching them looking forward to everyone you put out. 👍👍

Wagons collected and experts on them like PEZ/baseball card collectors. That's fun. My brother and I were pulling out our father's corn planter yesterday and had to work around his 1960s AC silage unloading wagon. Most implements at the Age brands were made by smaller companies who basically painted them with every brand color and logo stickers. You probably know which supplier factory made your wagons or the main parts for them.

It seems that a lot of people would rather buy new, rather than repair. Your attitude is noteworthy. Use something until it wears out and then repair. Of course, you know what ultimately happens. You know your work and what is most efficient. I wonder why people buy "junk" and then they need to replace the equipment when they cannot get parts. What happened to "quality"? Thanks for sharing your day. 😊

Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Wow. You have got some silage wagons. I totally understand why you are collecting them since not made anymore. Plus lot of farmers do not use them anymore. Equipment that is not made anymore is hard to find. You have a wonderful collection of silage wagons there. When you need them you got them. They all look pretty darn nice. Great to have them. Keep collecting them when you see them on a sale Bill. Thanks for showing us Kip.
You are really wet yet. Here in Iowa and parts of Minnesota it has dried up and some farmers are planting now.
All the rains and snow you had left you wet. Hopefully it will dry up soon and you can get to seeding and planting corn soon.
I see the cows locked up to milk. Couple of questions. How soon do you lock them up before milking and how many are you milking a day?????????
Wish our our farmstead still had a silage wagon, would make a deal with you.
You silage bags are doing great. Keeping the silage fresh.
About it I guess. Thanks for everything Kip. Thanks for telling us about the silage wagons. Was interesting.
Thanks. Take care and be safe.

    Steve.

If it were me, I would take that oldest wagon and dissasemble it. Then I would have all the info needed to self make all the body parts for the rest of the wagons. It could also give you a test bed for self building replacement parts. Or testing things out. IE buying off the shelf chains, gears, pullies etc and see how well they work.
