    • @titaniummechanism3214
      @titaniummechanism3214 3 роки тому +2

      It's pretty obvious I think. AMD is ok with OC, as long as lower-end cards can't be OCd to be as fast as higher-end-cards. Then they limit the clocks. If you can OC the 6800XT to be as fast as the 6900XT, why buy the higher end card?

      @@titaniummechanism3214 🤔 "If you can OC the 6800XT to be as fast as the 6900XT, why buy the higher end card?"

      @titaniummechanism3214 3 роки тому +1

      @@shaneeslick Yeah, makes little sense. And yet AMD does limit the clocks. And has done so in the past as well. And that's the only plausible explanation I could come up with.

    • @shaneeslick
      @shaneeslick 3 роки тому

      @@titaniummechanism3214 I've heard that reason in videos & seen it in chat but it makes no sense to me,
      GPUs are not like a R5 3600 to R5 3600X that have the same Die, higher level GPUs have more 'Processing Units' like R5 to R7,
      like when some people were saying "Don't buy a RX5700Xt, Because you can buy a RX5700, Flash the BIOS & then give it a Huge OC & get close to the performance of a RX5700XT" yeah, but if you are happy to Flash the BIOS to a risky one for RX5700 then just get an Unlocked Power Limit BIOS & OC the RX5700XT & you get even more performance

    hey Buildzoid, wouldn’t you mind rambling about caps?
    Like why capacitors are judged by their origin country (like if japan can’t make bad caps)?
    Or by manufacturer, as if all nichicons are great by default, and elite is trash .
    What caps are better suited for specific kinds of work and etc.

    • @krazybonnie5523
      @krazybonnie5523 3 роки тому

      the origin thing was an issue in the past because many Taiwanese electrolytic capacitors had issues with failing due to bad solution inside them
      however, modern polymer capacitors don't suffer for this at all, pretty much all pc parts use polymer capacitors rn, so capacitors don't matter that much, certain polymer capacitor have better performance characteristics(like esl or esr)[like the molded polymer caps] but it mostly doesn't matter as long as u have enough capacitors for it to function.

      MLCCs (tiny colored ones) are high speed low energy capacity and less stable under heat and used for signal filtering (VERY cheap).
      Tantalums/Polyester (Big Black or Yellow orange) are REALLY stable and good for power management in hot areas (EXPENSIVE though).
      Electrolytic (Big round metal cans) hold a lot of energy so they are used for supplying power/supplying power. They are heat sensitive and can explode when they get hot and as they age they hold less energy. They are still pretty cheap though.
      Then there are those (brown) "chicklet" gum looking square ones with the rounded corners and they hold REALLY high voltages. They are used in power supplies and in quick discharge situations like a camera flash or in CRT displays.
      Big (Yellow) Flat Squares with sharp corners are the same just slightly slower discharge than the chicklets. Used in mains voltage like wall adapters. Used for safety/protection.
      Big-Small round electrolytic non metal cans. These are general purpose through hole capacitors and hold a good amount of power but are not very stable or heat resistant. They are Average in every way possible which is why they are so common. They are mostly throughhole because they are so heavy that they would rip pads off the pcb otherwise. The metal cans are basically the same but surface mount.
      There are a few other types but they are less common.
      Hobbyists still use some wax caps because they are used in old radios but they age and go bad after a while and need to be replaced.
      There are metal foil caps that look like shiny through hole resistors with a red line or a mike and ikes which are extremely precise like 0.25% or 0.1% they are used mostly for precision applications and only hold small amounts of power. This is what allows them to be so accurate because a little more or less metal foil only makes a small difference in capacity.
      Hope this helps.

Both showed clocks up two 2514 MHz while playing and clocks were over 2400 MHz. I did not touch the OC switch, i used it out of the box. How does this happen? Did the UEFI of the MB OC the card? I never cared to much about OCing myself, just bought OCed Customs.

      1. This Merc already achieves 6900 XT performance. I tested it against the 6900 XT and found equal performance, or performance in the MERC's favor.
      2. Silicon lottery gold 6900 XTs on LN2 could hit 3GHz.
      3. 3080Ti is a ways off since 3090s are higher margin and a 3080Ti would be a cut-down 3090. Dies have been found with certain product numbers crossed out hinting at 3080Tis being changed back to 3090s.

    guys, i upgrade my pc every 10 years. now im used fx 6300, which ryzen 5000 series for next 10 year if i want play all game smooth, some multitask with programming ? and how much ram do i need 16 or 32 GB ?

    • @glxblrt
      @glxblrt 3 роки тому +2

      Shouldnt matter that much which Ryzen 5000 chip you choose. Just pick whatever is in stock and fits your budget, since you can always just drop in a higher skue chip, when you (maybe) run out of threats in future. That is the beauty of AM4 platform. Futureproofing for 10 YEARS into the future is kinda foolish now, judging by how much gains hardware has gotten in just couple of years.

    • @Paddydapro

      10 years ago folks were using 4 or 8 gb of ram. If you start needing more than 16 over lifespan of system then used ram will probably be pretty affordable. If you need 32 gb today then get it.

      I owned a red devil 6700xt and now a xfx 6800xt merc. Both are good/ amongst the best out there, not a apple to apple comparison(6700xt vs 6800xt) but Red devil run a bit cooler and quieter, xfx however are more attention to detail with thermal pads on the back of the PCB to take advantage of the metal backplate(non on RD 6700xt). XFX merc 6800xt was $200 cheaper in Aus hence me getting it over the RD.

      I think it must be something to do with logic breaking down but even if that was the case, let the users find that out - unless once the logic breaks, the whole card just bricks completely. In which case, it would be understandable why they just dont wanna risk it.
