A comment was made about the ship having twin propulsion and twin gearing. This would be part of the result of my first thought when first looking at this fantastic ship. There were two super size ships that were taken to the shipyard, configured so that they could be married/spliced/enjoined, to give us the end result. Fantastic..just Fantastic!!!
I just stumbled across this while looking for something else. I was Master of this vessel for three TODs in 2010/11. Also its sister ship Genmar Vision for one TOD in 2013. Last I saw they were both under new ownership and being used as floating storage near Singapore.
The largest vessel I served on many years ago was around 260,000t deadweight. This one is 312,000t deadweight and the size is somewhat daunting.. It does have twin propulsion systems and twin steering gears.
0:28 Well at least they gave it twin screws. It's amazing how many supertankers were built with single engine/screw. Seems like false economy to me. When maneuvering those things you need all the help you can get, I would think!
Nice video, but really you imagine we all can understand your language? Please write subtitles in English; this means respect for who watches your video 😃

Wonderful use of visuals and music on a very interesting ship.
It used to be Stena Victory and then sold to General Maritime and crew managed by NMM. It also have a sister ship w/c is Genmar Vision.

Another big one at 1:03: "Berge Stahl" moored at the iron ore terminal (L: 340 m, W: 64 m)
Not many ports can handle a ship this big
It's so huge, how would they ever know if it had a leak or a fire until it was too late ?
once upon a time i work onboard this wonderfull vlcc... what a nice experience
Find me a job there? :)

There used to be an even wider tanker called Nanny, King Alexander and later Sea World, it was 79m wide... but its scrapped now...

Was für ein Monster.
Ultra Large Crude Carrier, a wonder to behold.
For the Captain & Crew
this tanker :
Only 7 feet under the keel !
LOL, I read it as "German Victory" and thought, TOO SOON. :-)
Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, BMW won. :-)
The problem with Germany is they don't know how to win a world war.
They do try. Credit for that.
@@timothyspearman9347 Yes, but they do know how to win the peace.
Genmar HAS the same letters as German. One wonders....
King Alexander tanker. 80 meters beam. The first.
That thing has some serious beam. Imagine the water displacement entering a harbor.

This is an OIL tanker? How frightening. If it leaked that much oil into any ocean. Catastrophic. VERY BAD IDEA.
