  • I’m talking about the word ‘Should’ and we need to stop saying it to ourselves. In this video I talk about why we need to stop saying 'should' as well as providing some alternatives that will help us to have more positive self-talk.
Don’t forget to tell me how your week has been.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this - I hope to see you next time.
Please subscribe to my channel for more videos about mental illness and leave any questions or comments you may have in the space below.
Take care and I hope you have a safe, peaceful week.

Welcome to my UA-cam channel where I’m hoping to educate people on the different types of mental disorders to provide an understanding and learn ways to cope. I also vlog about my own experience of living with mental illness, as well as sharing other aspects of my life. I want to raise awareness of mental health problems and mental illness, so I hope my channel helps you and others.
As with all my videos, I'm trying to explain everything as clearly as possible and provide examples from my life to help you understand. I might not get everything right every time, but I wanted to give it a go, and I hope it will be of benefit to you. This Vlog is from my perspective, but I do appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience as myself - we are all different after all. I have also tried, where applicable, to reference everything correctly, but we are all human and make mistakes - please stick with me.

Hi Gem! You're looking and sounding a lot better than you have been in recent weeks. As far as the weekly check-ins go, I've been struggling a bit. It's becoming more and more obvious as the weeks go on that the S.A.D. is kicking in big style. But I'm hanging in there! I'm glad you've covered this topic because what seems like my whole life has been governed by what I 'should' have done! I've referred to these things as my 'Shoulda Woulda Coulda's'. And you are so right! They are not helpful! They add pressure to an already difficult situation. Anyway I just thought I'd acknowledge that I've watched your video. Lots of love. Ash xxx

I should be better by now is one of mine :( I put a lot of pressure on myself mentally. But I don't even know where I'm going. I spend my time alone because of discomfort when I do get out, even for some shopping. It's been years now and I've been in those traps Gem, where I feel there's no way out :( I go to a centre to do activities, recently started going again since a year ago. Was there before for years. Feels like starting over. I have probably got to 50 percent which is brill. Trying to overcome social anxiety. It feels absolutely draining at times. Like being so flat and tired but still can't rest. Good vid :)

Hi Anthony, I hope you're ok. Your therapist is right about the stress monkeys, we need to go with the flow. I find it very hard to go with the flow. I totally get you with the guilt and self destruction, the s word is very powerful. Sending hugs x
