Jakob is the greatest mid distance runner of this generation. Haters act like you can reasonably expect someone to win and set records at every race. Like bro can’t even get sick or have an off day without the haters talking trash. Then they don’t give credit when it’s due, going completely silent when he dominated the 5000m. I believe the 5000m was his target race this year anyways considering he’s said that some day he’d like to win gold and set records at every distance up to the marathon. Wouldn’t be surprised if he takes home the 10000m gold in 2028.

@@nickwilsonxc I’m not a hater. He worries too much about the Diamond league in an Olympic year. He needed that gas he expended in Monaco trying to break the WR. It’s not hating to say he’s exposed in the 1500 without pace lights and rabbits.
If the 1500 wasn’t important to him why try to set a WR so close to Olympics? Why so much trash talk going into 1500? You talk about silence after 5000. The “metric mile” is a marquee event in track like the 1”00 meter dash is, they always have been. It goes back to guys like Bannister and Jesse Owens. 5000 is not at that level. I was super excited 13 minute barrier fell it was not a global sensation like 4 minute mile barrier. The “mile “ metric or imperial is iconic.
Now suddenly you claim Olympic 1500 wasn’t important because…well Jakob didn’t win it.

Too many of Jakob's 'fans' seem so desperate to overlook his failures in major championships over 1500 metres. He broke down on French TV during the games what could have been done to beat it. I don't want to hurt your feelings or offend you and Hichem's WR will stay there until if Jakob beats it but Hichem was likely doping. No one can conclusively say anything and his WR cannot be removed. But if you've followed track and field enough and know the 1990's and the early 2000's were the EPO era (EPO was virtually not even tested until the early 2000's) and how he switched to the 5000m after EPO testing become more commonplace and advanced among several other facts, it's very suspicious. He ran so many fast times in very short periods of time with such little recovery that it's absurd. EPO testing was introduced at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and even in 2002 it was found to only be about 50% effective.
But then again the same thing applies to many in that era like Morcelli, Daniel Komen etc. At the end of the day, these guys still trained like freaks and performed brilliantly, it's just that the doping helped enable it by better recovery etc. It's just how the sport is I guess, although it seems to be better now.

El G run 2:26.xx in 2003, he never switched to 5000m, he run only like 3 races in 5000, one of them was when he got his legendary doubles gold in 1500/5000 beating no one but bekele and kipchoge, hicham is the king of 1500 and will always be, you cannot accept him running 3:26 saying he was dopping and at the same time you find those european an american guys running super fast timings normal, and you are very naive if think that those guys are clean, they are taking the most beautifull drugs that hicham couldn't have

    • @alansamuel2454
      @alansamuel2454 2 місяці тому

@@esa3di I do consider him the king of the 1500m despite all I'm saying cause at the end of the day he's never been conclusively found guilty and plenty of others also have a lot of suspicion around them. What I am saying thought is that EPO was literally not even tested then in what today is known to be the EPO era.
And look at how many times he went sub 3:27 compared to anyone else even today. Every other athlete to break 3:27 has only done it once with the exception of him even Kiprop who was found to be doping.
And I'm not saying the current field is 100% clean and spotless by any stretch of the imagination and I don't have any problem saying plenty of Western athletes were and are likely doping even today. The BALCO scandal, Salazar and many others are enough to show the West is also very dirty as well. But testing is at least existent today for EPO and other stimulants (I do know loopholes always exist) vs an era where it literally was not even tested. And Jakob started running with his brothers as a very young kid, with systematic and progressive training and more than a decade after has done sub 3:27 once.
I can't and honestly don't even need to say more beyond this. If you stick to thinking Hicham was clean, please by all means do.

@@alansamuel2454 it s not correct to say that he did not tested for EPO, he was still runing till 2004, and got consistently tested and found clean, and yet he run 3:26:xx 3 times after 2000, and few other 3:27, what i can confirm about him, is that he have the best runing form ever, his lighter in weight with very long strides and biger thighs, he is geneticaly superior and more gifted than Jakob and to tell that Jakob started to run as a young kid is spotless because El G too started running at a very young age like most o other athletes, no mater waht you say there is always a double standards regarding natoinalies of atlethes, because no one can say anything about Jonathan Edwards super jump from 90s for exemple.

What an absolute thrashing! Ingebrigtsen about 15 metres clear of Hocker. It simply proves to me that Ingebrigtsen would have won the Olympic 1500M title had he stepped off the gas in the first lap, doing it in around 56 seconds then cranked up the pace from there, with each lap progressively faster. He would then have run sub 3:27 and the others would have been left floundering in his wake. Coe and El Guerrouj - two of history's greatest middle distance runners in my book with better finishing kicks - made similar simple mistakes in the heat of battle at the Olympics. Hocker gave the excuse that he was recovering from the post-Olympics “blues” and his hard efforts there. What about Ingebrigtsen? He also ran a heat and final of the 5000M in Paris where he toyed with his rivals. (Let’s be honest - Ingebrigtsen’s clearly a better 3000M, 5000M and later a 10000M runner than a 1500M runner, where his raw leg speed is inferior to Hocker and probably Kerr and a few others). If he remains healthy and uninjured I would not be surprised to see him run sub-3:26 for 1500M (far from easy), sub-7:20 for 3000M (a foregone conclusion given his superb 2 mile world record), sub-12:30 for 5000M, and sub-26:00 for 10000M. That would make him the greatest distance runner (middle or long) of all time in my opinion. The 3000M Silesia race in a few days should be a cracker. Given decent weather conditions, his full recovery and good pacing I have no doubt he’ll take at least 1.5 seconds (and up to 3 seconds) off Komen’s very good world record.

Many studies claim that nowadays the Moroccan would probably run 3'24"-3'24,5" and that the Norwegian in 1998 would have run 3'27,5"-3'28". As we know track and field is not arithmetic, but looking at the average results of the 1500 m competitors one cannot avoid noting that they have decreased of a couple of seconds.

Jakob has been pretty clear about his goals. He wants to be the greatest runner of all time. He is aiming for world records - and has identified 10 he wants to beat. After his 3000m record he still has 7 to go. I think he definitely cares about the big championships too, but he seems even more interested in these records. Being the all time best is a bigger thing than winning a certain race. If Ingebrigtsen can (at some point) become the 1500 meter record holder, I don't necessarily think that would stop him from wanting to beat the other guys at the next olympics. But at the same time, it might be expected that he then might shift his focus a little bit to reach his bigger goal - the get the remaining 6 world records he wants - all the way up to the marathon. It's a bit like Sifan Hassan's project, just with (possibly) even bigger ambitions.

I do not understand why so many commenters cannot bring themselves to express a positive opinion about one runner without also denigrating one or more other runners.
I am also struggling with times recorded in so many events. It seems like the new shoes are lowering times by at least 0.1 seconds per 100 meters and more likely by 0.2 seconds per 100 meters. Still, thus far, the existing world record for 800 meters is now 12 years old, and has come down only 0.20 seconds since 1997, whereas the world record for 1500 meters was set in 1998.
This might not devalue new world records, while noting the current world records for 800 to meters, predate the new shoes.

      @@osgubben
There are studies that show significant improvement in running efficiency with the new shoe technology. I have seen nothing to contradict that, although the extent of benefit seems to vary; something in the neighborhood of 1% for middle distance races seems to be consensus. That would turn a 3:30 into ~3:28 and a 1:43 into ~1:42.
By “vitamins” you of course mean PED. Although always possible the current records of 3:26.00 and 1:40.91 are chemically enhanced, you need to cite evidence beyond your belief, hope, or desire. So far as I am aware, such evidence does not exist.

The other runners a,way are getting Jakobs pacing after the pacers are finished. In the Olympic he admitted going in his own trap because his legs felt better than expexted, and he understood the big mistake at once he had the time on the first lap, the plan was a bit slower start in the Olympic, for a progressive finish, but after that first lap he knew the progressive running would be difficult, alone in front you cannot do any wrong pacing to succeed. I think, if Nuguse and Jakob agreed to cooperate in the pacing the two of them would battle for gold and silver, because they both benefit of the same race program.
