What an impressive man, 3:47 indoor mile, 7:23 3000, 12:38 5k, 26:31 10k, and now a 57:30 Half. These are all crazy achievements, either world record, within a few seconds of a world record, or a top 10 all time performance. The versatility he has across so many distances, and the decade long longevity is absolutely insane!
Happy to see Kejelcha get the spotlight. Such a phenomenal athlete with phenomenal range. And especially after his own federation screwed his 10000m at the Olympics.
Yomif Kejelcha also ran a 1'500m indoor when Samuel Tefera broke the indoor 1'500m world record before Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Yomif Kejelcha was just off the indoor world record of Hicham El Guerrouj finishing second behind Samuel Tefera.
Phenomenal performance from Kejelcha - I'd like to see how he fares in the marathon because some of these splits are unbelievable. Also great to see Mateiko coming in second, remember he paced the first 30k of each of Kiptum's marathon majors - glad he's still delivering after losing a close friend and training partner
Kejelcha's stride has always been thing of beauty like he's flying. Absolutely amazing his mile record is 12. fastest ever. But still 5min 30s faster half marathon than Ingebrigtsen
5:35 because the official 15k record was run during the Zevenheuvelenloop (Nijmegen), which is a really tough course. It literally means the "seven hills run". No wonder that 15k splits can be faster than that, especially considering that they can have a net downhill (if the last 6.1km has an uphill again so that the entire halfmarathon course is flat)
In fairness Kajelcha has been concistently near the top for years so it's great to see him run so well and break the record. His times from the 1500 up to half marathon are crazy.
I love how I was literally thinking about the half marathon world record yesterday wondering who and what will be the next time to set a new world record for it and then literally the next day it gets broken. I also find it interesting how I’m half French and my name is Etienne and in the top 10 finishers of this race theirs literally a French guy named Etienne in it. Truly remarkable
Dude chill with the hyperbolic titles, it was damn impressive essentially because his pacing was horrendous and he dropped them early but improving the wr but 1 second isn't "crazy", and also you use that type of hetoric for every single title so it almost didn't process this was actually a huge performance
Thanks Japan for. The greatest baseball player in history is in the World Series. Japan won the world baseball championship 🏆. Comment often. And bring friends with you. There is no reason Japan is not a world class running power with a unique running training science center Your current pin point landing on the moons has improved rocket science to the point that a Japanese astronaut may be the first person to run on Mars. I've run in today. It was raining all way, just non stop. Puddles were all over plus headwind. Anyway, I enjoy the race and it has been my second time. The weather truly sucks
Anyone who's ever laced up running shoes wants to be able to do what Kejelcha just did - push yourself so deep into the pain zone and endure it longer than everyone else.
These sub-58 minutes clockings should make transition to Marathon easier one would think. Kipchoge, Bekele or Kiptum weren't even close to this time yet produced fast times over 26.2 miles.
@@gordonbenjamin3570The OG’s point is that a male journalist questioning Chepn’getich to her face when she broke the WR in Chicago was a misogynistic move.
It is almost completely flat, only a few metres of hight difference throughout the whole city... good temperature (not too cold, not too hot, not windy)... and track layout includes long straights
I don’t know the full HM record history but this is a small margin to beat the previous record. Ruth’s record run, whilst I hope is valid, is so much faster than the previous record which which on one had ever even come close to. It is right we check anomalies with the innocent until proven guilty approach but still with enough skepticism. I think her coach also had a suspected history in doping. People are right to at least question it.
Kiplimo needs to come and take back his world record. He had a bad pacing strategy when he ran his 57:31. Ngetich was impressive. Came very close. But unfortunately...
More than 80 Kenyans on the world athletics banned doping list. Less than 10 Ethiopians. Both east African countries putting in the same elite performances. Doesn’t add up.
Apart from doping, in the last few years many bio hacks began to be applied to athletes, and that explains, in my opinion, the explosion of stratospheric times even from guys who have been competing for a long time...

Personally I ain’t complaining, I never sleep either to watch his vids 😂

I'm really happy for him. Kejelcha usually pushes the pace from the beginning and gets outkicked by someone else. Now, that's his moment of glory.
💯. Happy for him from Kenya. 👏🏾👏🏾

Congratulations to YOMIF KEJELCHA! It's your time to shine ✨️.

Una locura los tiempos de estos atletas. En cuanto a Keyelcha salió a buscar esta carrera de principio a fin. Realmente espectacular.

so amazing for someone to do a HM in that time period, lets wait till someone does a sub 55 min HM

🙃
That guy may have been a pacer for Agnes.
@andrewmurphy2289 I believe it was one of her pacers checking back to see if she was still keeping up because she was starting to struggle.
