I have played war3 few times over, but never really got into hotkeys not even for building etc. . .you guessed it I'm not an RTS player:D
so after all these years i have decided to finish the game on hard. . .yes, clicking on everything is just too much hard work to stay fun.

@@CrowBoomer yep, I am not new, I been around from a very long time. I still suck at the game can't beat the AI at the lowest difficulty possible. I think if I get some hotkeys I well play better. And also I have to make good decisions. Its just the AI sends the first batch of units then destroys like have of my units then they build up there units even more and I get annihilated on the 2nd - 3rd round of them bringing in units.
@@CloudfulGaming focus on leveling your hero fast kreep early and fast (youtube human build order)
when you meet them focus on killing their hero first
(for killing enemy hero the rifle unit with the long range upgrade is useful if you have 6 of them make them target the enemy hero.. move some foot soldiers behind enemy hero then make them attack him so when he gets hurt and wants to escape he gets blocked)
they loose moral when you kill their hero
buying some items helps.. like in your arcane volt there is this heal friendly units item.. get 2 of it before you meet your enemy
key for humans I think is magic units from arcane volt and the blacksmith upgrades

I think you forgot to tell that by ctrl clicking a unit it targets all the similar units. Or I just didn't see it, anyway figured it out myself thanks for the great guide

Fine job on this video, WTii. For someone who has played the game on and off for over a decade, it's amazing how much I don't take advantage of some hotkeys (and don't stick to one choice for my 1-0 key binds, slip on my "shift usage in general",etc. - especially because I go for such long periods without playing and have to refresh in general (all the more so due to my being ancient, probably) Thanks again - you're my fav WC3 chan - the game has almost TOO much potential for different types of play - it has been and I expect it to continue to be the most timeless RTS aside from its counterpart, Starcraft.
Thanks Simon for the kind words, Warcraft 3 is just an awesome game to play still even to this day because IMO nothing has beaten it so far RTS wise, I'm not sure if it ever will. The game definitely has tons of potential & we are just waiting on Blizz to get off their ass & at least HD the game as well as make it accessible to Bnet app.

What a crazy stuff u gave us, i already tried your tester map and it works very well for me. i made dozen of battle between abo and knights stuff like that just to see and before i noticed i had spend 6 hours on it. If you want to select one unit you dont need to leftclick the others out you also might double click the unit
Thanks for all your videos sir. They are all a big help. Is there anyway you could make a video with the camera aimed at your keyboard while you are playing a match so I can see how you are rolling through the micro?
Maybe in a future setup, atm I don't have the proper equipment or support for it. During this video, I used my webcam and that was stuck on the end of a long ruler alongside part of my wall. Not an ideal setup~ Not to mentioned it fell off multiple times before recording~

Not sure i understood the question, but after shift left clicking on the unit, u have to press control and the hotkey you had before to unselect one unit

So wait you can bind Keys by Ctrl+ (any key)? I always thought it don't exist in Warcraft 3 since it isn't shown like in Starcraft 2 XD

I have been playing since 2012, and i wondered why i was so slow at times, so i watched one of your gameplay videos and thats how i found out that hotkeys exists, honestly i dont even know how to react to me being so dumb
Very very very very useful video for me, thank you a lot m8 . Still can't handle big fights because of the lack of exp i got but with this grouping , polymorph, clouds and stuff i'll learn one day. And just one question, which is the easiest race a new player can practice on
Tough question as all races are very unique. I started with Night Elves myself. If you just go DH & archer/hunts it's not hard. They get much harder if you try to master the tier 2/3 units
i have a problem when i group a unit like i want to change the unit number from 2 and i accidentally press 1 and 2 then when i try to press 2 the first unit still the same like i want to disable group from unit 1 to 0 like i want to remove groups unit any help?
Thank you so much for these videos. Just got back into WC3 after a long time and these have helped a lot. I just have one question regarding micro. Basically in a medium/huge battle things can get quite chaotic and it can be really hard to find smaller units and even if you do manage to spot them it can be very hard to say, death coil a dying ghoul. Do you have any tips on how to do this efficiently. Right now I have DK on hotkey 1 and melee on 3. I've been trying to shift add the DK to the melee and heal by clicking on the dying ghoul on the HUD list but I'm usually too late and I've lost the unit. So do I just need practice (I definitely do, haha) or is there a better way to micro manage?

As for the micro, what you said regarding adding the DK with the ghouls temporarily is what I would have suggested. Aside from visually being able to see the injured Ghoul's health bar amongst the battle & accurately click your coil onto it (quite challenging indeed) there aren't many other effective ways of achieving this aside from combining the Hero with the unit hotkey group.

No way to re-bind buildings etc, inn you're own preference? I play AOE2 alot, but would like to give War3 a propor chance (played it before alot, but nothing serious), just don't get how to keybind...Like say I want to have E for blacksmith building. You can do all that inn AOE2.

Well I would suggest this hotkeys guide first then whatever race you enjoy playing, watch the guide for that then practice :)

hold shift then b (build) then f (farm) you can do it multiple times.. like que 5 fatms ahead.. then while stil holding shift click on trees again so the worker goes back to work when he finishes building farms

Is there a way to remove a unit from a group by only using hotkey ("shift + click the unit" is too slow in the heat of battle)? I know "shit+#" will add unit to existing group. But shouldn't be logical to have a similar hot key to remove unit from existing group?

I would love if you could make a video where you play a short game but with the camera on the keyboard. Are you using custom hotkeys now? The game is very complicated, just this video isn't enough for someone to learn to beat a normal computer. I think...I tried beating him today but I can't...He's so aggressive and I can't even make an expansion before he comes with 5-6 soldiers + hero and beats me up. Maybe I fight back, but he comes back later with an even bigger army...

I don't use custom hotkeys, you just gota play a lot for the muscle memory to do most of the work
So I can't seem to get any custom hotkeys to work inside RoC's official single player campaign. No problem getting custom hotkeys to work in a custom, LAN or BNET multiplayer game. Is it that hotkeys do not work inside Bizzards campaign's? I feel like that must be highly unlikely...

Nice tutorial m8. This will guide me through my quest of boredom xDDD.
So I already know the hotkeys pretty well, but I have 1 very MAJOR issue. I can hotkey everything except my the use of the items in my inventory. the Numbpad 78/45/12 Do not work to use my hero items and i have no other way to use items other than to click on them. How do i set inventory hotkeys? Its literally the only thing I cant figure out and its holding me back terribly
Also, I dont use reforged btw, if thats relevant at all
I use Lesco's Warcraft Toolkit www.dota-utilities.com/2008/08/some-useful-utilities.html for my Inventory hotkeys
I open it, click on Inventory Hotkeys, set them to F1/F2/F3/F4/F5/F6 and click Activate
I get annoyed WC3's hotkeys, that's why if I make custom WC3 maps I often edit them to be far less all over the place. The few people who have actually played my maps seem to prefer it to, though that is too small of a player pool to make any claims, but just thought I should throw it out.

+Ofek Flesh The building that produces the unit controls the pathway that unit takes using the Rally Flag.
Select the building then right click onto the location you wish the unit to go & when they are produced they will go there.
Remember you can hold left shift whilst placing the rally flag to add additional locations the unit will move too after the initial rally flag position

Imagine U've got a archer's army, and you want to stealth a week archer and focus fire with the rest to a unit. What would you do? if you hide and then shift click te week archer its time wasting but if you left click the archer who is hidden, then to reselect your army is a nightmare cause u can't drag-select without selecting again de week archer, so what would you do?

How do you build multiple buildings with multiple builders selected? For example, i have 5 workers selected and i want to build 5 barracks, each worker building 1 barrack. I could not do it with control or shift, yet i see you do it a lot.
If it's the same building, shift won't work unfortunately, I don't know why, but you need to not hold shift and build them instead 5 times with the 5 peasants selected

How do you undo or remove someone from the group that you binded? For example if I have the Tauren chieftain binded at the number 2, how do I undo that?
> You select control group 2 by pressing 2
> Hold Left Shift & Left Click on the Tauren Chieftain to remove him
> Then Press LEFT CONTORL + 2 to rebind the remaining units in control group to 2 without the Tauren Chieftain

How do you make a loop-assignment? For example when scouting with a shade (undead) it's a bit lame to shift-click 35 times, also this would end at a certain point. Isn't it possible to have him keep running in a circle in the opponement's camp without having to shift-click all the time?
Shift-Click is the key unless you are just going to patrol between 2 points
Well the question is to keep e.g. a ghost (undead) patrolling between 2 points (like in the enemies camp)

+ShreedZ bots will give you the time to practice and learn/perfect a build order & creep pattern. Players won't be so patient, take on the players when you are ready.

In the last minutes you mentioned i can add units to a group with shift + "any key" can I also kick them out ??
The way I am used to kicking units out is by
1. selecting the group they are in
2. hold left shift + left click on the unit (or their portrait on the bottom)
3. re-assign the group to the hotkey preferred.
For example,
1. Select Group 2 (4 footmen in this group)
2. hold left shift + left click on the 1 injured footman of the group
3. re-assign the group to the hotkey 2. (Ctrl+2)

In the Warcraft 3 World Editor: Advanced > Gameplay Constants > Food Limit (100 > XXX)
you can also do that with things like wisps building a tree, while you build another unit, and then dicontinue to build the tree. or by playing dark ranger and using her ultimate to exceed the 100 food limit.
i press my abilities with q w e r and none of them is working i have to click them on he screen
I thought maybe I can ask here. I got a bit of a problem. For some reason I can't use CTRL for grouping but instead have to use SHIFT and when I do that group is grouped until the last thing in that group is dead and then it disbands. I cannot use that number for grouping something else only adding. Does anyone know how to change this?
