    I’m 67 and I remember that iconic photo from ALL the magazines. I still get tingles when I see it now. You are just as breathtaking now as you were then. Your photo symbolizes a whole generation of young teens and 20s and now you are still a beauty icon for my generation. You’re sweet too. Keep bringing us more lessons like when you started your career in beauty. Thank you, Heather. I’ve been a subscriber to your channel for a very long time.

    I just watched this video and it made so much sense--I'm 67 now and I don't even bother trying to do makeup on my eyes to address the droopiness because nothing seems to make a difference. But I'm going to try doing exactly what you did in this video because wow, what a difference between the
    "do" and the "don't" eye. Thanks!

    At last a good tutorial for hooded, crepey eyes from someone who actually has these problems. I'm so sick of hooded eye tutorials from 30 and 40 year olds who don't have hooded eyes. Thanks very much. :) BTW, you look amazing for 61.

      Hi Melanie, thanks for the comment. I totally agree that the video world needed someone who works with makeup artists and her own mature look for video tutorials. My eyes have certainly changed since I was in my 30's & 40's. Thanks for saying that about my age. There is a magic of makeup for sure and soon I'll get into my skin care regime. i'm so glad you're finding these videos useful, that makes my day!, Heather

    Great tips Heather! As a professional makeup artists (worked with the biggest names in the biz: models, photographers, designers, etc.) I have a few tips for you as well dear. Don't pump your mascara (it pumps air into the tube and makes your mascara go bad quicker) just twirl the wand around inside the tube and then pull it out and apply. Warm toned eye shadows are also great for your eye color and skin tone. Try some taupe, soft neutral browns, and cinnamon..they will make your own eye color really pop!!! Cheers, M.

    You are a wonderful and positive makeup instructor! You took the time to show us the technique to open up an eye. But, you also showed us techniques with your other eye that many of us use that are not helpful and why. That was very important as many of us probably use the same ineffective techniques over and over again and then wonder why we don’t look better.
    You took much of the picky criticism from viewers (in my opinion) so well and in stride. It made you not only a beautiful person on the outside but a beautiful person on the inside. So, if we were all paying attention, you taught us more than just about eye makeup. 🌺

      d sipe, I have one hooded eye so the difference between my two eyes is even more dramatic than Heather's. A makeup artist in a department store once asked me if I had had a stroke and that was when I was only in my 50's. After seeing that Christy Turlington also has two very different eyes, I finally accepted it and am okay with it.

    A little tip I learned for my downturned, hooded eyes is to only go halfway in when lining the bottom of your eye. So start at the outside just like you did but only bring it to the center of your pupils maybe just a tad further it keeps the eye nice an opened without closing it back up by bringing the liner to the corner this is what I do on the bottom lid.

      Everyone, why jump all over @Bobby Joe Williams If she's grateful and pleased at compliments, why shouldn't she enjoy them?
      If someone compliments you (however it's worded) and you feel complimented, then I call that a positive thing. It's just like an insult that misses its mark: if someone insults you and you don't feel insulted, it has failed its mission to make you feel small. It's like it never happened. Disparaging a compliment can erase the positivity of it, rendering it non-existent as well. Why do that to anyone?

Why did they not tell me then when I needed the confidence? - all the best.

      Hi Ria and thanks so much for sharing.. Perhaps they were jealous when they were younger and have now grown out of it. Dogs give so much unconditional love and I'm so glad you let us know about the 2 rescues. Poor little Hurricane was in a cage for months before we found him. That's why he always has 400 kisses LOL. Take your time with the makeup. Put the eyeshadow on lightly at first and then increase the shading if you want to. Thanks so much for subscribing and welcome!

    Loved your video on droopy eyes. I am 75 years old and still wear eye makeup if I go out even to get groceries. I always use brown/beige instead of mauve/pink and if I was going out for an evening I add mauve on top of the brown on the outside corner to brighten things up. I never wear eyeliner at the bottom but I do on the top to open up my eye and I use it like you do and of course mascara is the finishing touch. I will look into using hilighter in the future. Thank you for being down to earth and showing the before and the after.

    Fun video 😊 just a tip - once opened, it's best not to pump your mascara wand. Pumping forces bacteria caught in air as you pump. Once you shut wand back inside ... wellll 😨
    Not pumping wand also helps to prevent premature drying up of tube. What is your favorite mascara btw? 👄💜💜

      Hey Carolyn, thanks so much for the info. What you say makes perfect sense! Maybe that's why my mascara dries up so quickly. Do you find powder eyeshadow dries and crepes your eyes?

    • @lovingourage
      @lovingourage  7 років тому +4

      I find that powdered eyeshadow is so much better than creams. The powders stay put longer.I don't find them drying, just like foundation most have some kind of moisturizer in them. Sometimes if it crepes a bit I can use my fingers and smooth it out if it's a long day or a damp tissue to smooth. Sure you're taking some off but it looks so much better. I also at all costs put my makeup on last before I leave the house, and extra hour or 2 helps to keep it looking fresh, Heather

    I followed your techniques for eyeshadow for hooded eyes. It looks good. I had to remind myself not to lift my eyebrows when putting it on because then when I relax, shadow is in the wrong place. Hi Connie, I either use a collagen cream or coconut oil above my lips every night. (collagen cream if you don't have 2 hours before bed to let the coconut oil set in. ) I will put a link at the bottom of this comment to what I use and where to get it (just scroll down the page to get the info and links) I've never had injections and don't plan to ever get them so consistency of application every night is the key. It's also never too late to start. Little Hurricane also has a short video on this channel on the day in the life of him. It was simply made to put a smile on people's faces. Hi Monica Lemmer. Look in the mirror and try a bright awake look with your eyes. Do you see an area on the lid where you could put a natural beige light eye shadow? Make sure it's just a bit just above the retina of the eye and that's all. I hope it works for you. It will just give you the little bit of brightness for when you're the most expressive during conversations. I hope this helps. Heather

      In addition to addressing dark under eye pigment, could you also address loss of volume under the eyes? I’ve had dark circles my whole life. I’ve found the industrial-strength ;) concealers that address that issue. What I can’t seem to find is a way to address the loss of volume that accentuates that issue further. Concealer only covers the dark pigment - not the loss of volume. Any ideas? Thanks for the fun videos!

      Success! Two days in a row now! I bought an inexpensive eyeshadow palette and have had some fun with it. I kept going back to the mirror to see if I was seeing things. No eyeliner for now. Thank you for that tip. ;) My big mistake was putting the eyeshadow too low but just a little higher it's, well, like magic.

    Hello from Canada! Wonderful tutorial 👍
    I'm a new sub! My question is..and forgive me if you've already been asked this...I have extreme "crepe" on eyelids.. I can no longer use the frosted eyeshadow that I've used all my life. ☹
    So I just stopped wearing eyeshadow.. I'm assuming u r using a matte eyeshadow?
    Do u have any videos or tips on crepey skin?
    ✌💟
    P.s.. Hi Hurricane! 🐶

    • @lovingourage
      @lovingourage  7 років тому +2

      Hi back from Canada, yes I'm Canadian too! Thanks so much for subbing, it means a lot! I gave up on frosted eyeshadow years ago. It's a matte look that looks more natural. My eyes aren't too crepey so I haven't done a video on that yet. I would suggest something similar to what I said to Danelle, using no eyeliner and putting a matte beige/cream eyeshadow on the lid and continue with a lighter brown (instead of purple) matte eyeshadow that swooshes out at the sides of the eyes to give the downturn an upswing. Don't use too much eyeshadow and not too dark and blend it upwards with your fingers so it doesn't look fake. Take a look from a bit of a distance (as usually people that look at you are) and you will probably see your eyes more upturned and the beige eyeshadow hides some of the crepeyness. Let me know if it works for you. Heather

    Hi, I'm 61 too, and my eyes ayre really hooded. I am even thinking about surgery. I NEVER put eye liner because it makes my eyes look smaller and I never put make up under the eye. Very important are also the eye brows. My stepdaughter is "une esthéticienne" with lots of diploma's and second price of Brittany. She gives me very good advise. I cut my hair short ; and I think you should cut yours too, makes many years younger ! Sorry for my bad English. Kind greetings from France !

    • @lovingourage
      @lovingourage  7 років тому +5

      I don't know if that is your photo in your thumbnail but if it is, you are gorgeous! We each have decisions to be made on our look, carefully consider the surgery but if you feel it is best for you, go for it! If that is your short hair it's fabulous for your look. So happy the world of UA-cam allows us to communicate, best wishes! Heather

      Marie, I am 63 and I agree with both of your suggestions. She also picked her best eye for the makeup she liked best. I don't think she blended her liner well. There is a little fatty deposit under her eye brow right by the nose. She totally neglected to address that and just stopped with the
      purple which emphasizes it. At the end she says "same pose" but the problem is different eyes. The cat eye is her droopiest eye...cheater...😜. I don't like to criticize, but I feel on a tutorial, the public needs to hear a differing opinion if there is one.

    New sub, I'm 58 and have very hooded eyes. Brown makes me look like I have dirty eyelids so what color should a brown eyed person wear? I love pinks and greens but I'm not sure they are good for the hoods?
    I love your yorkie! I'm a dog lover also and the puppy kisses didn't bother me at all.

    • @lovingourage
      @lovingourage  7 років тому +2

      Hi Charlotte, Have you tried a soft brown (almost a dark beige)? Watch out for anything that has red undertones in it though. I suggest you go to a drugstore or mall makeup counter and have them apply this on your eyes before you buy. If the brown is too dark it will look like dirty eyelids.
      My little Yorkie was in a cage for 4 months before we rescued him, he's forever giving kisses LOL, Heather

    Thank you very much for this video - I am almost the same age as you, and it is a relief to see someone my age do a REALISTIC makeover, taking a NORMAL amount of time and not using hundreds of products - very manageable! Many good tips indeed! I just have one wish - perhaps a little more lighting in the next one? I LOVE watching you, perhaps because you validate the way I do my make-up. I do powder my lashes, curl and mascara with lashes that are naturally long and a big lid. Shadows that can be used wet or dry are a fav of mine and I lay the side of my eyeliner brush at the end of my eyeliner line for a flare. At 62 that gives me a nice "cat". For all the women who say they don't like make-up or using It, they NEED to watch your videos. Always thorough and well done, growing older gracefully, not agefully lolol😙👌
    Make-up at our age makes us look younger, evens out skin tone, our skin looks brighter, and it's a good thing to take pride in the way we look!
