By chance I came across your show for drug store makeup. Followed it over and over, wrote each item and purchased what I needed for my 80 year old face. I needed a brightness that looked good but not overly done. It was wonderful. If l could send a photo I would. I'm so happy with the clean look and it really gave me a lift. Literally. Thanks Loretta
Hi Dominique! I am one of your younger viewers and I am currently finishing up my 4th year of medical school. Since finding your channel and listening to your message I have become more confident in myself in multiple ways. I recently purchased your book, and I am looking forward to reading it soon. I sincerely thank you for all of the empowering and inspiring content you create.
Love the side-by-side demo! Such good info. Switching gears here, I found Rotho eye drops at Target. My eyes are so sensitive and some the eye brightening drops really sting. These are cooling drops and make the whites look great too. I follow up with lubricating drops for added moisture. I think I've found the one. 😁
Congratulations! I am just retiring from 25 yrs as an oncologist. I agree, she is inspiring and gives all of us confidence! Good luck in your career! It is an honor and privilege to care for patients.
I am 71 yrs young and love how you share all your tips and tricks. It is a challenge to know how to properly apply makeup as we age to NOT make ourselves look older than we are. Thanks for this informative video. I am ready to put my face on the right way. Bless you!
Wow! In my opinion, this was your BEST make-up tutorial for 50+ women! You explained so clearly how and why. I am excited to start using your techniques tomorrow morning. You are truly a blessing to me and my struggles with dealing with the ravages of time. You helped me realize that as a 55 year old woman in 2022, I need to start wearing my make-up differently. Thank you for your help and for enlightening me. I am eternally grateful!
@@lorettabell7447 i used to get lip plumping lip gloss from a doctor's office that did laser, fillers, etc.. It was quite expensive, but I think it did help a bit. I say used to, cuz I've moved to a small town and can't get it here.
This was just what I needed! I'm 56, and now realize I was doing myself no favors with my makeup application. Thank you for so clearly showing what proper makeup application can do!
Even on “wrong” side… you still look beautiful! But yes I totally see why you do the “right” side… makes so much sense! Thank you for yet another great video! You are a true inspiration! 💕
Thank you for doing this video. I am 74 and have always been concerned about using to much eye makeup. But my eyes have never really look right. I am happy to say that using your suggestions for eye makeup in this video i have actually been getting compliments on my makeup
Yup. Me, too. I also learned to "trust the process." When I applied the shadow in that 'lift' colouration, I thought, "Oh, my god. This looks ridiculous and I'm gonna spend the next 20 minutes taking it all off and starting again." When I got to the end, though, I was amazed and have done it this way 3 times now. Love-love it. And, yes, compliments from friends and spouse! :-)
The eye difference is just astounding! Just “found” you today and I am obsessed! 51 years old and never really learned makeup. But in the last 3/4 yrs I’ve gotten into great physical shape and feeling good about myself. So glad to find your channel ❤️
You are absolutely the BEST at explaining how to apply makeup for us "older" gals and giving the reason why you should/shouldn't do something. As a lifelong makeup junkie, I have learned SO much from you, especially with how to apply eye makeup. I was never happy with the light shadow on the lid and then a darker contour above. I did my eye makeup exactly how you explained and it came out great! I have the life back in my face again! You are amazingly articulate, beautiful, and such an inspiration.
I will be hitting 50 in 2 years. I concentrated on my skin not my make up. I do scrubs 3 times a week ( baking soda coconut oil and olive oil paste scrub) Facial masks after and diy oil mixtures on damp skin. Always apply your oils on clean damp skin. I hope you try this rout as well. Your make up will go on much better. I hope all my beauty vids are viable for you to check them out.
Just found you (sept 28,2022), I'm 60. Just started watching some videos. Your explanations and examples --ARE GREAT! DOWNLOADED VIDEO AND SUBSCRIBED TO YOU ALL VIDEOS! THANK YOU DEARLY!!
New to watching you tube videos, your comment about wait till we her lip hacks, lol, will that be in these comments? Thanks! Prob confused you with my question, have a Great day!
I have been doing my makeup the way you did it on "the wrong side" and I couldn't understand why I never get that wow look but I keep on buying makeup. People always asking me if I'm tired but I slept for hours. This is so informative.
Thanks so much. You are naturally so beautiful and have a great shape to your face. I am 71 and not so naturally beautiful, (never ave been) no nice cheekbones, baggy eyelids, etc. I would love to see you apply makeup the right way on some older women who have bags or dark circles under their eyes, wrinkles and somewhat droopy skin. I wish I had learned more about skincare when I was younger. I was never a makeup girl so all these tips are new to me. I’ve subscribed but would love to know if you do ever do such a presentation. Thank you again, you’re wonderful.
I'm one of your little baby viewers, just out of college and going into fashion design, and your channel always feels so inviting, like I'm hanging out with an auntie and she's teaching me all her secret tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
I love your videos so much! And I especially appreciate how your "wrong" side mistakes are actually mistakes some of us make, and not just obvious, over-exaggerated techniques that everyone knows looks bad. I mean even your "wrong" side still has appeal. It's not horrible. It's just that your correct side is so, so much more beautiful and soft. What a difference, even on a face as strikingly lovely as yours! 💖
I agree. Dominique doesn't need a thing on her beautiful face, but what she does with make up just accentuate her natural beauty, and that is what we should do. Not try to change our facial features.
Oh Dominique, this video is outstanding! I am 62 years old and have always loved makeup, but know I need to up-date products and techniques to make myself look my best. I agree 1,000 percent about going with a slightly darker/warmer foundation. I figured this out several years ago. I have been moving toward using lighter blushes and lipsticks, but your video really shows how much better those colors look than darker tones. I don’t mind making good investments in higher end cosmetics if the products do what I need them to do, but I can see my techniques really need some tweaking. I’ve always had trouble with my eye brows and I am going to try your brow product and techniques. I can’t thank you enough for this ! Makeup really gives me a boost of confidence and as I am getting older, I can use that boost! I appreciate you, your channel and your followers for being so inclusive and supportive of each other. Women really do “hold up half the sky” and we deserve to look and feel great all our lives. Thanks again, this was wonderful!
So enjoyed this video, I’m 81 years old and needed to see these changes in old ways vs new ways of applying make up, thank u so much learned something new at my age🤗💕
I legitimately gasped out loud at how much better the darker IT foundation looks! Your technique is brilliant. Very discerning eye. You have a fan for life. Beautiful work, thank you!
So happy to see a experienced and talented makeup tutorial for someone my age!! My skin and lack of feeling good about myself has suffered due to my 3 years of chemotherapy and immunotherapy Cancer treatment. So Turning 65 is such a blessing for me , I had prepared myself for death and stopped caring about my looks and self care especially after my husband of 40 years passed last year😢Have to admit I was stuck in some the 80’s bad makeup applications.Especially since the 80s and early 90s were the years I worked as a model .. Some people say it’s only makeup but it goes so much deeper. Thank you Dominique, I have learned a lot and you have inspired me to celebrate and focus on myself.❤
Hi Jolaine, I love your name. My name is Joan Rolaine. I have never heard your name before. Maybe I will change mine to Jolaine. Haha. God bless. Love from Arizona
🙂Seriously I had exactly the same thought. No matter the mistakes : You are beautiful with the right and even no make up. Thank you for educating us here. It is very inspiring. 👍🏿
I love how you did the comparison from the two sides. So many do the same kind of video but on the bad side they overdo where it looks so bad. You make the "bad" side look just like common mistakes! Really enjoyed this.
OMG, Dominique, I've been doing it all wrong! I am 75 and I love makeup and wear it every day. I learned so much from this video, i. e. darker eye shadow, less light shadow under the brow, lighter lipstick. But please tell me it's OK to put a touch of shimmer mid-eyelid 🙂I'm gonna tell my viewers about you on my channel - I hope that's OK. You are so young and beautiful and I've been watching you for some time. I really respect your views and opinions on just about everything. Take care, big hug - Lo xo
Yesss it IS ok to use shimmer eyeshadow, no matter your age. You can even use a beautiful soft highlight on your upper cheekbones too. Don’t let anyone say you can’t wear shimmers….you absolutely can. Shimmers are beautiful, especially in the summer
Lo, I'm 75 and Canadian as well. I just watched your "hot day makeup" video and I, too, love Marcelle cream blush. I think your makeup looked great - maybe a lighter lipstick would look nice but everything else looked great!
@@susanbanton6338 Hi, nice to meet you! Thanks for your support. Yesterday I went through all my lipsticks and threw out a whole bunch that were waaayyy too dark!😃 Lo. xo
Sooooo good! I was an artist at MAC and then for TV & Film for many years. You nailed this. Don’t be afraid of light peach glowy blush ladies. Also, if you’re still oily at all know that your face powder and foundation may oxidize depending on the brand (this means you may need a tad bit lighter).
So I have a medical condition called Dysautonomia, and it causes my face to get really flushed red and sweats (I can't cool my body temperature). The problem I have is the sweat beading up under the foundation, causing it to slide. The redness is always there. I'm constantly having to blot or use a fan to dry my face. Primers and setting sprays don't really seem to help. Any tips 😢
@nikkiflippy007 there are several brands that sell antiperspirant creams for face or anywhere on the body. They are very effective even very sweaty men swear by them
I have been watching your makeup tutorials for a while now. Love them! My husband just came home and saw me watching one and said “By the way, just so I can say I have said it, I think you do a great job with your makeup”. He has never commented on my makeup before. Kudos to you Dominique!
I just got recommended your video and I’m in love! 😍 As a 45 year old woman that has been a makeup fanatic since I was 16 I’ve had to learn that over time my makeup application has to change. What looks beautiful on my 23 year old daughter may not translate the same on me. I’m always so excited when I find women around my age that enjoy makeup and can teach me how to adjust and improve my application. I love to draw and paint, for me makeup is just another artistic medium that I love and has the bonus of helping me feel my best. It’s not about vanity, it’s about including something in my life that gives me confidence and makes me happy. I’m just so excited, I now have a heap of your videos to binge watch while I do my makeup 🥰 thanks Dominique 😊💙🇦🇺
I took your advice a while back and stopped with the lower eyeliner, then for some unknown reason I started again - maybe trying to relive the 80s? HA! I watched this video and then today I used your eye techniques and I am loving it. Hopefully I don't relapse - maybe I'll just get some leg warmers and call it a day. Thank you for doing this - you look amazing and you are an incredible role model.
Thank you so much! I am 67 and I have not worn makeup for about 5 years! My daughter is getting married and I discovered my old products and techniques no longer work for me! Thank you for all the tips, especially the one about matching your chest because I discovered quickly that matching my facial skin made me look pale and sickly. Update: I tried again with a warmer shade foundation that matched my chest. Shortened my brow length, and changed from shimmery eyeshadow to the colors you recommended and did my eyeliner under the lashes. Overall, I am much more pleased with the result. A lot of it was that the shimmery eyeshadows amplify all the wrinkles in my eyelids and around my eyes! Thank you for all your help
Thank you for doing this video. I'm 65 and have been updating my techniques over the past few years. I especially enjoyed a refresher on the contour for the cheeks. I struggle the most with picking the right color for contour and also getting the correct shade of foundation in a store. Keep up the helpful work you do for us. I appreciate you.
Another great tutorial. Thank you, Dominique. A tip I learned from a sales girl at Ulta years ago, is to also use the Urban Decay eyelid primer on or around your lips. It keeps lipstick in place and helps to prevent spreading.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I am from Australia and am 82 years old, Fortunately I have always looked after my skin and that is paying off at my age. I have learned a lot from you about applying eye makeup, Your tips all make perfect sense and I will be following them in future, Thank you once again and I will be following you in future with much interest.
Beautiful! As always! I'm 71, and I have aged by 5 years 1 year into retirement taking care of my elderly in laws. I've had a lot of volume loss in my face from cancer treatment too. I'm sure going to try these techniques, but too much damage has been done.....so the love I have inside will have to be my canvas.❤
really enjoyed this - thiank you very much. I am 79 years young - people say I look 60 - used to be a jazz singer / performer . . .and you still taught me 'stuff' . . I have just forwarded your video to muy 13 year old grandaughter who LOVES make-up . . she may as well learn it right, instead of on Tic-Tok! Thanks again Nancy Marano - NJ
I lived in Houston for 15 years watching you on the news. I later found you on UA-cam and was so happy to see you had a channel. I've been subscribed for 7+ years. This video is one of my favorites by far. I'm 55 and having to change the way I wear makeup as I age as well. Your tutorials are always informative and the applications are always spot on. It's the little pointers that make the biggest difference. I have learned so many things by watching your videos and wanted to thank you. It's so good to see you happy and full of life. You're the best!! Hugs!!
Omg this is why I was not feeling good after doing my make up!! I was doing it the wrong way as I’m in my early 40’s the good way works so much better!! Thank you
I haven't worn makeup for decades, but I'm dabbling a bit and trying to learn again. This video was great! I can't get over how much your bad side looks like the 80's!
The side by side really explains placement, color choice etc. I've seen a number of videos explaining how to apply shadow on aging hooded eyes. However they all show the how to choose color and apply correctly without the added impact of what not to do! Love what you share, but this one is simply spectacular! Thank you!
What a great tutorial. My mother always told me I was heavy handed. 😆 I’m using your tips and I only wish she was here to see the difference. 63 and learning. Thank you!
Thank you so so much for this video! I "lost" myself for over 10 years and havent worn any makeup. I learned makeup back in the 80s when i was in high school. As you've pointed out things have changed dramatically!! The last few months I have been slowly trying to figure out what I need and its just so overwhelming. Not only is my face completely different thanks to age but none of the products I used to use are available anymore lol. So I have gotten some of the basics but had absolutely no clue how to apply them. You have taken us step by step and that is exactly what I needed!!!!!!!!!!
Are you my clone?? 😂You just wrote my life (except I only lost myself for 9 years). I’m so glad you’re doing better, too. I hope you find yourself and find joy.
Thank you, Dominique, for this detailed and helpful video! I am a mature "true autumn" woman with auburn hair and dark amber brown deep set eyes. Everytime I am helped at the cosmetic counter, the artist convinces me I need a vanilla or ivory matte shadow on my lid. They remind me light comes forward and I need the lighter shadow to compensate for my deep set eyes. I point out that my eyes are not hooded at all, and in addition, that I think I need some subtle warmth on my face, pretty much everywhere. Every one of these shadows I have purchased, even those with a soft sheen, look SO chalky on my freckled and warm skin tone. I look tired, lifeless, and older. Thank you for confirming that my own instincts are right. After watching you video I purchased a cream lid shadow in a soft copper and I love it on my lid. By the way, you are beautiful and a fantastic "teacher," as well!
So thankful I found your channel. Your makeup tutorials are taking me out of the 80s and teaching me how to apply makeup properly! Absolutely LOVED this side by side comparison!!
I love this tutorial! So informative and great details. I’m retired (61) and stopped wearing makeup when I first retired, then recently started wearing a bit, even just on stay home days. What a difference in my confidence and attitude! I wouldn’t normally want to put this much makeup on, just for special occasions, so I wonder if you have a “bare bones” approach for casual days? That would be so helpful!
I played this in front of the mirror as a step by step tutorial. Play - pause - 10 sec rewind - lean in for details - do what you're doing - play again to be sure I got it. Then go on to next step. I did it on only 1/2 my face, the other half I left just as it was all day - mascara, tinted sunscreen, and some tinted lip gloss. I have been going minimal to avoid looking silly - I know it's too easy at 53. Even though I have watched many of your videos and have assimilated some of the tricks, I don't seem to remember it all as one process. FOR ME, THIS VIDEO IS THE BEST MAKEUP ONE YOU HAVE EVER DONE! The why behind the what, shown as you tell us. Looking in the mirror, "all that eyeshadow in dark colors" no longer scares me!! I was thinking for my blonde lighter skin self it would just look too makeup-y. Thank you 🥰🥳
My goodness Dominique, I wonder who else could’ve pulled this off, that is, demonstrate right and wrong side without the aid of a split screen, then manage to look gorgeous on both versions!😅😅 I can see how much fun you had doing this, it was such good fun to watch and it was an eye opener, pun intended! Thank you so much, Dominique, we love you more than ever!❤️
Thank you for showing the differences between the “wrong” and “right” application on your face. For me, it was a great visual understanding rather than just an explanation without the visual effects. You’re the best!
At first I thought the “bad” side was ok, but once you put your hand up, the good side was just beautiful and had such a soft uplifted look. Absolutely beautiful. I stopped wearing makeup for a minute because I just hated the way it looked, but not now! I love the way it looks. Thank you.

I am 71 and loved this video! I retired and moved from Houston to now living and working at the Grand Canyon. Thank goodness for Amazon so I could order the products you suggested! No stores around here! Groceries are 150 mile round trip! Good to see your channel now!
I just tried one of Dominique's makeup tips. Wow, was this amazing. I put rouge on my upper, outer cheek, just where she says - unlike where the Sephora girls told me to put it - on the apples of my cheeks - and for the first time in my life it looked natural. I'm going to try pore minimizing primer next. I found some at the drugstore today and I'll buy it soon. Thank you Dominique. This was the most helpful makeup tutorial I've ever found. Wish I had found it sooner.
Since discovering you a year ago, you have helped me tremendously with skin care, makeup tips, clothing and so much more! You are such an inspiration to me Dominique. I’m almost 54yrs old and I want to age gracefully. You’re stuck with me watching your videos, posts, etc. Don’t ever stop beautiful friend ❤️ Thank you SO much!
Wow - my goodness - I started out thinking I wouldn’t learn anything from this video but I have to admit I make nearly all of the “mistakes”. I will definitely take this on board and apply your methods going forward to achieve a much softer result than I am currently have. Thank you so much.
Thank you! The side-by-side is so helpful. Really enjoyed this and will be watching a second time so that I can correct the mistakes I'm making. I look forward to your videos every Thursday afternoon--keep 'em coming!
This is the best makeup video I have ever seen. Your videos are a tremendous help to me. I've never worn much makeup at all. I'm now 54. My skin has changed so much over the last 2 years that I now feel like I really need makeup. I will feel so more confident now that you have taught me how to apply (and not apply) it. Thank you so very much.
Just bought a new brow pencil yesterday. Lightest blond. Tried it out and It looked way too dark and awful. I should have been drawing little hairs like shown. Glad I checked out this video.
Thank you. I appreciated this tutorial so much. I am 44 and have stopped wearing makeup because it wasn’t making me look or feel better. I needed this. Super helpful. I can’t wait to put some makeup on tomorrow and see how it goes!
I love this. I was starting to get frustrated with how my makeup was looking after all the years. I had no idea what or where to start to do it differently. Thank you, I will be going to this to keep me from going back to old habits
I cant thank you enough. Your wrong side is exactly what I was taught aged 18. Now at 53 I knew it was wrong but couldn’t find a simple make-up how to change it. Thank you, I can’t wait to try it.
Amazing how different the “bad” side is, how aging, droopy & unflattering it is!! Thanks for taking the time to instruct us in your youthful-looking, uplifting, anti-aging makeup techniques!! 👏👏👏
I love blush on the apples of the cheeks. It’s so pretty and youthful when done right. I do like these videos, but not when it’s done so drastically wrong on the incorrect side.
Thank you so much for doing this Dominique. This is so true that how we used to apply make up may not work for us anymore - and I realized I am making a lot of these mistakes you have mentioned. This was very helpful - thank you so much 😊💞
Everything she says and does I can see. Her choices are right on and she explains them so well. I am so glad she does two sides of her face. It must be a lot of work, but I can see how much better her "good" choices look.
I am so beyond happy that I found your tutorials! Both of my daughters are very talented with their makeup but I think that talent skipped a generation because I have made every mistake you pointed out! That won’t happen anymore. Thank you for taking the time to go step by step and explain proper techniques.
So, have been following you for some time. I have adjusted my skin care based on some of your skills. And last week while at my bible study with a group of women who I have known for 15-20 years; one of them told me I looked younger. I had no makeup on and I contributed it to my skin care guru - you. So thank you... I am in your age bracket - I think I have 2 or 3 years on you but it is nice to have my skin care noticed... Thank you.
Thanks, Dominique! Foundation choice is so relatable! I finally realized this past year that my foundation color was too light. I struggle with shades as a fair neutral and many foundations oxidize so I always erred on the lighter side and compensated with a little bronzer. I finally found a shade that is deeper (not warmer as that doesn’t necessarily work for me). Where it made a huge impact was around my mouth/chin. The lighter foundation just emphasized that my skin isn’t as taught as it once was and made me look OLD! Just like the shadow trick, a deeper foundation helps recede the looser skin and neutralizes that area. (So does smiling 😊 and yes, primer is a must!). Thankfully I did not over tweeze my brows so have a pretty good handle on them and I definitely know the shadow placement on the “right” side works best every time… but… black eyeliner…is truly harsh no matter the placement with my blue eye fair skin coloring. Gray, brown, navy or plum provide definition and more flattering. With your complexion, eye and hair color, black is ideal!
Yes. Black isn’t good for everyone. Personally I look a lot better with a brown eyeliner. I use liquid liner and do a little ‘flick’ of a wing at the outer corner 😁
Thank you, after discovering you earlier this year I feel transformed! I have never really bothered with a full face application just mascara and face powder generally, but you have inspired me to go out, treat myself and really focus on making the most of my face. Even my husband (who loves the way I look anyway ❤️) says he loves the way I do my makeup now. You are an inspiration, keep doing these wonderful tutorials making us 50 somethings still feel as good as we did in our younger years. Cheers Dominique, best wishes Karen from Manchester, England 🇬🇧😘
I have been doing a lot wrong in my makeup application. I did start wearing makeup in the 80's and learned those mistakes from then. Thanks for the updates!!
Hi Dominique! I agree with everything you say except for the tightlining vs. liner on the top of the lashes. Tightlining, in my opinion, closes the eye, making the eyes look smaller. It darkens that pink rim, and thus the closing effect. If you freeze frame your face just after you have completed the tight line, and compare both upper lids, you'll see what I mean. Your eye looks larger on the eye with the liner above the lashes. It looks smaller on that with the tightlining. To be fair, I am not looking at the lower lid line on the 'don't' side! Can you believe how hard it makes the eye look! Agreed, shadow is a better choice. Just my two cents, but thought you should freeze frame to see what I mean. Let me know your thoughts!
I agree with you ! I feel the wrong eye looks more open and brighter therefore larger , where as the the right eye actually looks smaller and closed due to the darker shades on the lower lid . Everything else though on the right side looks flawless . 💕
The left eye does look more open. Also it’s better to clean mascara off the face with a cotton swab vs. pulling / wiping it with your fingers. In Mistake #4, I prefer concealer vs. shadow primer. Most are way too creamy for my eyes.
Yes I agree- freeze at 19:07 and I see- - eye looks way smaller on right with it - I mean I am a total fan of tight lining and also I thought the light shade is good on lid-
I also think the "wrong" side eye looks more open due to the dark eye shadow on the "right" side. I have never been a fan of the dark eye shadow. I wonder in 10 years what we'll be saying is the "right" way to apply make up.
I think you are a great teacher. If I may, my feedback is that the eyelash extensions are distracting and heavy. We want to lift the eye as we get older and the extensions look too artificial and almost give the eye a downturn look.
I have watched a ton of make up tutorials for women with who dies… I absolutely love your video… You explained it well… Without overdoing the make up… Like so many thank you
I am 39 and I love your style! Your makeup tips are spot on and I even use them for my age. I get told all the time that I don't look my age. Thank you for your honesty, real life, and positive vibes!
It's a joy seeing you able to laugh about what you've learned from. ☺️ The tips are always great, but your uplifting attitude is what keeps me inspired! Hope you're doing great! 🌻
I would love to see how you would take this daytime makeup and freshen it up to create the nighttime look. Not starting over but just adding to fit to make it more applicable to nighttime lighting.
Hey Judith, Im a Dermatology NP AND make up artist. Most women over 50 apply too much make up. It makes you look older and your trying to hard. THIS make up actually can work at night as well. however, you may, play up your eyes with a med blue eyeliner on top lid and beautiful lushes lashes. eyebrows not too dark. Do not line your bottom lid on the inside, makes your eye look older and more closed. A very light touch with foundation and sponge if you need to even out skin color. No dark lipstick and just a shimmer on your cheeks. Sorry but this lady on other vids puts too much make up on. Remember she is also a beautiful woman where most of us do not look like that, Hope that helped.
You will find as you continue to age, drawing the lip liner all the way done to the corner will show the natural sag of age (unless medically filled). Stopping it before that corner will give the appearance of a more youthful appearance.
One of the best videos you’ve ever done! Sad to say but my makeup techniques fell mostly on the wrong side. No wonder I always look tired and sagging face! Thank you for this video! Also I’d love to see you show us how to target and diminish the look of lines around and down the sides of the mouth area. Especially for someone with deep lines. Thanks! ❤️
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial 🥰 I am 65 years young and decided I deserve to feel beautiful. I’ve never wore makeup but after a very stressful and hard year the mirror told me everything!! I wish you all the blessings you deserve!!! Pray for me on my new journey into beauty 😝
I'm curious how you'd do the "correct" side with gray hair? I'm 67, recently retired, and transitioning from med brown colored hair to natural gray hair. Most of my hair in the front and front sides is now gray and I'm really liking it!. (I had an all over foil to get rid of some of the brown and it's helped in that transition). I've read that darker lipstick colors are good as the gray hair kind of washes out the face (it's definitely different for me to see myself as no longer that brown haired girl but instead very gray). I'll also check out your other videos in case you've already addressed this for us gray haired girls :)
Hi Debbi, you may want to check out @TammysAgelessBeauty. She's recently transitioned to natural gray and looks stunning. She's shared some great makeup tips to go with her new coloring. Happy Holidays!
Wow, Dominique, I learned a lot in this tutorial! I'm 49 years old and thought I had a pretty good reign on makeup application; it turns out my eyeshadow techniques needed an upheaval! ;) Oh, and I just finished your book....so much wisdom and inspiration!! Have a great weekend!
,beautifully done. I'm 80 this year with good skin and find your videos so helpful! I've been using only moisturizer but can see the value of a light, correctly coloured base. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video! My eyeshadow application resembles the incorrect way… I’ve not had the courage to take the darker shadow above my crease line but this visual helps me to see the difference- so dramatic!! Thanks- and you are so beautiful, even the incorrect application doesn’t take away your beauty.
Thank you Dominique! There are many wonderful lifestyle/makeup tutorials for us women in our 50’s here. But this is the second of your tutorials I have watched that has completely transformed the way I apply makeup at this point in my life. I routinely get complements now on how great I look as opposed to years of feeling faded and unnoticeable. What a confidence booster! You are beautiful inside and out and I so appreciate your straightforward, honest, confident approach to life and your viewers. Thank you thank you!!
Lovely! The eyebrows in particular are EXCELLENT. I’d also throw out that some people may find a lipstick that is almost the same color or slightly darker than their lips can be ultra flattering. I’d call it a “your lips but better” shade! “Nude” often refers to a beige-peach, but that’s not nude for everyone. What is nude for YOU will vary!
I typically dont leave a comment, but the way you spoke to us, it made me teary for explaining so well . I have subscribed to your chanel for years, but it was fisrt timei went back over a year, congrats on your new charter , happy for you ❤
By chance I came across your show for drug store makeup.
So wonderful to have you here Shelby, and congrats on finishing med school! What a big accomplishment! I'm cheering you on..
@@leslieportis thank you for sharing this! I use lumify and found they sting sometimes. I will try your recommendation !
Lovely to hear

I am 71 yrs young and love how you share all your tips and tricks. It is a challenge to know how to properly apply makeup as we age to NOT make ourselves look older than we are. Thanks for this informative video. I am ready to put my face on the right way. Bless you!

Im 67 yr old woman who really enjoyed your tutorial. I needed an update in my daily routine. You targeted many areas of concern for me. Thank you!
For all of us ladies who learned the old way of application THANKYOU for showing us the new, improved method!

Lol yeah, same. I was fast forwarding through and I thought, "oh this must be the good side". I was wrong. She's incredibly beautiful.
I was going to say!
She's so darn stunning either way!! 💕
I totally agree with this comment. I rarely wear makeup but, when I do I feel like I am learning all over again. Thanks for teaching me.
I thought she looked like the “older” Judy Garland on the left.
I tried the eyeliner and eyeshadow tip. What a difference. Will follow this rule from now on. Now need to learn the blush tip.
Me too!
I do scrubs 3 times a week ( baking soda coconut oil and olive oil paste scrub)
Facial masks after and diy oil mixtures on damp skin. Always apply your oils on clean damp skin.
I hope you try this rout as well. Your make up will go on much better.
I hope all my beauty vids are viable for you to check them out.
Check out her lip and liner hack here. It's lifechanging!!

Such a sweet comment!
I love your calm voice. You are the Bob Ross of makeup tutorials.
Hey dear how are you doing…?😊.
I am a 56 year old woman with extremely hooded downturned eyes and I am a real makeup girl. I loved this look. I tried it tonight and it looked great.
Hey dear how are you doing…?😊.
You’re actually so beautiful that the “Mistakes” still look beautiful on you. Thank you! I love this!

🙂Seriously I had exactly the same thought. No matter the mistakes : You are beautiful with the right and even no make up. Thank you for educating us here. It is very inspiring. 👍🏿
I thought so too!
Great question!!
Yesterday I went through all my lipsticks and threw out a whole bunch that were waaayyy too dark!😃 Lo. xo

You undersell yourself. This was a MASTERCLASS! 💋
For sure!
Do you consults?
Donʻt forget the BIG HAIR!!!! The 80ʻs live on....Love, Claire.
Thank you so much for showing how to to. I am 66 years now and need another way to do my makeup. Pia Meriam from Denmark
Duly noted... thanks for that. Had no idea. 💄♡
Great tip, TY! "... eyelid primer on or around your lips... keeps lipstick in place and helps to prevent spreading."

Beautiful! As always! I'm 71, and I have aged by 5 years 1 year into retirement taking care of my elderly in laws. I've had a lot of volume loss in my face from cancer treatment too. Just turned 40 this week! I’ve been watching you for a few years now and preparing for graceful aging. I appreciate you so very much.🙏💙
Great video - not just, “here’s what to do”, but also, “here’s why”. Thanks!
I’ve been following too many 20 year old makeup videos. The difference is huge!! Thank you and I’m sooo glad I saw this. 😊
We need an updated video on "clothes that age you"pleeeeease!!!

I find less is more as I get older. These are great hints for us mature gals. I’d have never thought about some of these things.
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing!! That must have felt nice to hear..

I 2nd this!!!

Absolutely agree.
I agree, I think it makes the eyes look droopy and tired.
I have watched a ton of make up tutorials for women with who dies… I absolutely love your video… You explained it well… Without overdoing the make up… Like so many thank you
Thank you! I have watched many tutorials for "older" women, and I can say yours has been the best so far. Easy and informative.
Very well done thankyou...im a nearly 60 year old goth...but will still use my dark eyes and liner and a more nude lip
I am much older and darker skin and Dubai and Indian ethnicity - I am struggling doing my make up. I love watching you. XX
You will find as you continue to age, drawing the lip liner all the way done to the corner will show the natural sag of age (unless medically filled). Stopping it before that corner will give the appearance of a more youthful appearance.
That makes sense.
Thanks! ❤️
Thank you for these reminders! It is so easy to slip back into those old looks!
Thanks Becky -I’ll definitely check that out! Happy holidays to you too!
Don’t know why you don’t just keep the brown hair
@@beckygomez9074 I've checked out TammysAgelessBeauty and love it - thanks again!!
@@debbiwigen-noble7207 You're most welcome. That's awesome! So glad you did! Good luck with your journey! Happy New Year! :)
Oh my gosh, the mistakes I have been making. This video was SO enlightening. Thanks Dominique!
I know you love changing your hair, but this current style is so “signature”. It’s just perfect on you and so unique. ❤️❤️❤️
Aw, thank you Heidi!
Yes totally agree and the color! It’s powerful.
Well I love how highlights look on you as well😉
,beautifully done. I'm 80 this year with good skin and find your videos so helpful! I've been using only moisturizer but can see the value of a light, correctly coloured base. Thank you!
How did I just find you?! This video was so informative and fun!! I’m 32, but will 100% be trying all these techniques starting tomorrow. ❤
How is your make up journey going now?
Thanks so much for this video! My eyeshadow application resembles the incorrect way… I’ve not had the courage to take the darker shadow above my crease line but this visual helps me to see the difference- so dramatic!! Thanks- and you are so beautiful, even the incorrect application doesn’t take away your beauty.
I liked the side by side comparison. It was helpful seeing the results of the two techniques. I got to re-examine my foundation color now
Thank you Dominique!
