Mr. Gilmour is making some of his best music ever...but isn't all of it...of course. He's also reaffirming his place in music history... ...at the top.
Casually pulls out a 90 year old instrument, complains that the plug is in the wrong place and uses it on an album because he has it laying around. Gotta love Gilmour. Gilmour's love for lap steels goes back a long time and they've popped up all throughout Floyd and his solo work. It doesn't surprise me that he'd covet the original and that he'd get his hands on one.
Gilmour is very renowned guitarist amoung top 5 in the world.. India cities rock fans likes him a lot and huge fan followers My first experience with David play is with TIME track DSOTM Such a marvelous person aswell .
My friend in Laguna Beach CA now in her 80s is the daughter of Paul Barth who with his drinking buddy George Beauchamp created the horseshoe pickup and the original Rickenbacker Frying Pan on the kitchen table of Barth’s mother Irma Dopyera. The house in LA is still there but I have never published it’s exact location in respect for the privacy of the current owner. Barth’s father Martin married Irma Dopyera, of the famous Dopyera family. Martin, Paul and his brother Carl worked with the Dopyera brothers at the National factory where Paul used to spin the disc’s for the resonator guitars. I’ll eventually fill in the gaps in the history of the origins of the Rickenbacker Frying Pan, it’s fascinating. Barth worked at Rickenbacker until the mid 50s, where his knowledge was in high demand, he supported Leo Fender, Les Paul was a regular dinner guest, Barth designed a whole range of guitars for Magnatone, created his own range of Barth guitars. Set up Bartell guitars in Riverside where his guitars were played by Hendrix, Zappa and The Beatles. I regard Paul Barth as the forgotten founding father of the electric guitar, an underrated and often ignored instrument designer. Would be delighted to share more with Mr Gilmour about his Frying Pan. More at www.findingfretless.com
Thanks for taking The Pink Floyd to the next level and being a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. Your solo work is great too. Soldier Field Chicago 1994. I will never see a better concert. The mist gently falling during Wish You Were Here. 🎵🇺🇸🇬🇧
Hi David I've been trying to talk to you for so long because one time you sent me a private message about like your contact on Telegram and then I lost that comment cause I acidentally deleted my comment and I don't know how to talk to you

I've settled with a Martin travel guitar. Small guitars are soo convenient and handy. I may never buy another "regular sized" guitar! It's great seeing one of my legendary influences play small guitars. My first concert was Pink Floyd in Atlanta, 84, I think. Kudos, Mr. Gilmour!
David, in addition to being my favorite guitar player, singer, etc., you would be a great narrator for just about anything. I'm building a vocal booth for a podcast, and I hope to get into voice acting - your voice is everything I could hope mine to be!
You know Dave you could move the jack. What's another hole in a 37 Ricky? Showed the black strat no mercy that's for sure! Looking forward to the new disc.
Longest pre=order I have done for a record, chomping at the Bit for that Brit music, won't you come and Play in Montreal again, it has been years David, maybe we will give you back a stolen amp, lol.
Polly sounds lovely, and thoughtful,I know Polly loves you, and I love you too,,my son was a fan in the 70s” I was to busy with children, but the love of life turned me on to you two years ago, and I’ve never stopped listening,❤❤❤

Polly has given this man so many great things. The Rickenbacker Frying Pan, The Hendrix Strap for his Black Strat, and a bunch of kids.
and the lyrics to a lot of his songs
I think she was also the one who told him to sell "the mausoleum" house he used to live in before. Oh, and all the lyrics for his albums.
And a whole lot of happiness

Very cool! And after a session, you can use it to fry up some eggs! I kid!
This Gretsch falling over gave me a heart attack, but he's a guitar god, so who am I to say anything...? :D
Please add a Midwest show whether it’s releases Saint Paul Minneapolis or Madison, Wisconsin or Chicago or Green Bay or Milwaukee

cool guitar!
I have the Rickenbacher....yes....ch....later on Rickenbaker...
Made from "Bakalit".
Monster Sound. Monster Pick Up
That output jack is in a weird place. Could it have been for a left handed player originally?
What a lovely man...
That guitar itself is a work of art and it's being played by someone who plays guitars like Rembrandt painted on canvas.
We are waiting for Dark and velvet nights
See you in November at Madison Square Garden. All the way from Virginia. Can't wait.
What an awesome gift!
You are a lucky man David!

Beautiful Sound ✌️

Even though that guitar is from 1936, it still has a great sound!

I'm curious as to what guitar David played on "Short And Sweet", from his first solo album? It sounds like a 12 string of some sort.

From great family comes great ideas and music. My best regards to your wonderful family.
If you have that guitar you have to go crazy on it like Jeff Healey
I would love to see Rick Beato interview David Gilmour. It would be incredibly interesting.
this gentelman can take sound from anything
I would have liked to hear him play it a little more... :-)
He is one of the best guitar players thats has ever lived.
Also don’t know what the cost was they’re pretty rare
The way he laid that gretsch down made me almost faint
