    • @JasonSmith-pe5py

Much of the national media WAS disrespecting them-but almost everybody has fallen into line to a large degree-now that theyve won. And some Denver fans/media acted like NOBODY nationally has been giving them any respect. Jokic did win 2 MVPs by relative landslides...thats national media voting for it.
Sure some people like Nick Wright,& Kendrick Perkins were ridiculously unfair. Expecting Jokic to singlehandedly beat near champ Phx in 2021,& eventual champ GS in 2022-missing Murray,MPJ,& 2 other rotation guys in both playoffs-when those rosters wildly overachieved-even winning a series in 2021,& somehow winning 48 games-& making the REAL playoffs.(not play in KAT) Meanwhile their boy-Embied still has never got to even a conference final-despite never missing his best teammates in the playoffs...Jokic made a WCF in 2020. So there was a lot of ignorant national people spouting nonsense for sure. The worst probably being Perkins idiotic stat padding comment. And his insinuation that Jokic won 2 MVPs cuz hes white was 1 of the dumbest statements ever.
But some Denver people went too far the opposite way. Painting every national media member with same broad brush,as if NOBODY gave them any respect. Bill Simmons,Charles Barkley,Kenny Smith,Zac Lowe,JJ Redick,Ryan Rucillo,Jalen Rose,& many other national people have been on the Nuggets & Jokic for YEARS! Did all those people pick us to win the title this yr? Some did, some didnt-but that isnt hating. Reasonable people can disagree on whos gonna win the title-but still give respect where its due. Thats not hating or disrespect-those other examples were. Hating is some of the hypocritical nonsense weve heard-holding Jokic to this ridiculous playoff standard without his best teammates-while not holding Embied accountable for even a worse playoff resume-even before this playoff run.
There are still a few morons,& Embied honks-like Chris Maddix running around trying to diminish their run a little bit by saying they didnt have to play Milwaukee,Boston,GS,or fraud Philly,& Embied(as if its Denvers fault those teams lost). But even he clearly conceeds the Nuggets were by far the most dominant team,& Jokic did have an amazing,& great run. The only question for debate now is was it a historic,Alltime run by Jokic,& the Nugs. The biggest haters have taken their come upance,& swallowed their medicine,& crow. Nick Wright,Perkins...guys like that have admitted Jokic is the best player now,& the Nuggets proved them wrong. To keep any creditabilty they had to conceed a lot of ground,& have.
Narrative has now changed forever-whatever happens in the future-this Nugs core have become "made men" to a certain degree-thats what happens when you win a title. There is a certain level of criticism-theyll never have to face again. Doesnt mean every media member on earth is gonna pick us to win 4 straight titles or something-that isnt hating either. Not everybody will even pick us next yr-but right now the Nuggets are consensus favorites,& mostly getting full respect. Like the Avalanche in 2022-whatever happens from here on with this core-nobody can ever take away that title-now its just a matter of can you add to your legacies...but they are already secure to a point. Finally now Embied is getting heat as people realize-gee our MVP pick is the 1st MVP EVER-to not even have reached a conference final. And pretty much everybody conceeds Jokic is the best player on earth today-with only Giannis in the conversation-for now. Almost everybody conceeds-,even the biggest Embied shills-that he is out of this discussion FOR NOW-til he at least makes 1 deep playoff run.
Things can,& will change as teams,& players accomplish things in the future. It doesnt mean Jokic is the guaranteed best player on earth til he retires no matter what happens. But does mean he,& this team have reached a certain level of achievment that makes them immune to the most unfair of the criticism. With 2 WCFs,1 title/Finals MVP,& 2 reg season MVPs-Jokic is now viewed almost unanimously as a top 20-25 player of Alltime-with the chance to move up the list if he accomplishes more in the future. That is totally fair.1 title doesnt mean hes top 5 yet or something-but he has a lot of time left in theory. My point is-there was some unfair disrespect-but thats mostly done now. Not everybody on earth will credit them as much as we want-but its a different conversation-much lower levels of magnitude of "disrespect" is even possible from here on out. Even Jokics biggest critics had to eat crow,& conceed alot of ground here-they had no choice in order to keep any creditability.
But some Denver people have a complex,& still want to run around, looking under every rock for "haters." Get over it-Im not gonna waste time making sure everybody thinks we are the greatest team of Alltime or is picking us to win 6 titles,& Jokic to surpass MJ next wk as greatest player ever-none of thats true yet anyways. They& he still have work to do in the future to reach the loftiest of levels. But the floor of his,& their legacy has been drastically raised with this run. As somebody who works at Ball arena-Im enjoying this title-working the Finals was amazing. And winning the NHL/NBA back 2 back is so rare in modern history. Im gonna enjoy that-both the Nugs,& Avs cores are smashing successes now-WHATEVER HAPPENS in the future now. Both just ran off DOMINANT 16-4 runs,& theres not a lot of criticism or nitpicking that can be leveled at that-as most their critics now conceed...ENJOY IT DENVER-STOP LOOKING FOR NATIONAL BOOGEYMEN CONSTANTLY!

@@JasonSmith-pe5pyI’m not reading all of that but I skimmed it and you’re right for all of it. But I think a lot of the disrespect we saw towards Jokic was absolutely blasted on social media and it’s all we saw. From what Kendrick Perkins said to the whole narrative that LeBron would be the first player ever to come back from a 0-3 deficit. There were a lot of media members rooting for Jokic and that’s why he got his 2x MVP’s but what I believe got us Nuggets fans riled up was that the media’s disrespect towards Jokic was everywhere we looked. Casual NBA fans/non Jokic fans had to look far and wide to find videos explaining how great Jokic was, but the disrespect towards Jokic was always right there in front of them. Obviously, now the narrative has changed and most people see the Nuggets as contenders. I think it would be funny to get a whole compilation of what the media has said about Jokic throughout the years just to look back at but I doubt that would happen.

@@JasonSmith-pe5pyyeah, of course they would give MVP to Jokic because he was clearly those 2 years the best player in the league than everybody else🤣clearly. If some people say Embiid, no... Embiid was never better player than Jokic these 3 years. Not even this year. Jokic this year finished regular season with the best per in the league, best +/-, he easily led the league in winshares, triple doubles amd true shooting %. He was dominating this year in regular season, media just gavr it to Embiid because Embiid never won MVP before.

the problem is that Americans don't like teams, they like individuals, they like egoists, that's how they take money, that's how they do business, because you can sell an individual expensively but not the whole team, and Denver denies all that and now nobody is interested because they haven't learned to teamwork, and teamwork is a recipe for victory..

It's funny how people call themselves experts, I had never really seen jokic in the Denver Nuggets play, because I had stopped watching the NBA regularly about 6 years ago or more, I just didn't think it was that interesting anymore because of all the teams making these bogus super teams, then somehow I was watching some old-school NBA on UA-cam and jokic highlights just happened to come into my feed, so I watched it not really expecting much. After I watched it, I was immediately blown away and realized that this guy was a basketball genius, as soon as I saw that I predicted them to win the NBA Championship because what I saw was possibly the greatest offensive basketball genius in a very offensive oriented NBA. I also realized that he like; Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan was the type of player that made every single player on his team more dangerous than they have any right to be, they don't need to create their own shots, they just need to move and he will find them and they just need to be aware that anytime past could be coming their way.. these so-called experts are nothing more than political puppets who are given different narratives to stand behind, maybe some of them understand basketball better than others, but the only one that I saw that knew what he was talking about was actually Sir Charles, he called it from the beginning of the season and he called it correctly.

Everyone doubted me back in 2017 and now my friends tells me how did I knew they’ll be good in the future. It’s simple… Murray and Jokic is like 2k twos lineup! 😂literally once I saw jamal making faders like a shot creator and Jokic making passes and shooting 3 with a OP post. I knew there… all they need is decent reliable pieces around these two and it’s a nightmare matchup!

easy to say this in hindsight. But really. Who were the nuggets and their team when this began? This is not some celtics 08 or Heat 12 scenario. This team came from nowhere and built around a 40 odd pick who helped his team became allstars.

@@monalisa-bs4zsI kinda agree with you. But, with jokic as your front guy, it was a matter of time. Jokic always does good(individualy) in the playoffs. Kcp and brown were instrumental, but murray was the missing piece.
Now we know that with a good group of guys around jokic, the team becomes a championship team.

Congratulations Denver Nuggets on ya first NBA championship 🏆.
List of teams that won their first NBA Title from the Year 2023 down to 2006.
    Denver Nuggets 2023 🏆
    Toronto Raptors 2019 🏆
    Cleveland Cavaliers 2016 🏆
    Dallas Mavericks 2011 🏆
    Miami Heat 2006 🏆

Also teams making their first Finals appearance should be mentioned as well:
2006 Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks
      2007 Cleveland Cavaliers
      2019 Toronto Raptors
      2023 Denver Nuggets
The fact 3 of those 5 teams succeeded the first time (granted 2006 somebody had to lose) holds value as to the teams not letting the moment get to them (outside of the Cavaliers) so I think we’ll wind up seeing more teams making their first ever Finals appearances and titles in the near future, Memphis (if they ever get it together) could be on that list possibly now that Denver has won theirs.

They said similar things about the Spurs, it was bs then too! Every team doesn’t have to have 3 super stars and if they do it can be organic, they don’t have to be “showtime” or vocal leaders in terms of media popularity, euro stars are just as good as ours, and the Heat earned their spot by winning so as much as a Denver vs Philly matchup would’ve been great, Miami did the work and Denver was the better team. Idk how anybody can like basketball and not like Denver or think they were a top team with a top star other than having bias. And the team was deep, that’s why they won. The more ppl shit on Jokic, the more he stands out, the more he reminds me of a Duncan fused with Bird. Give them the credit they deserve, give Jokic and Murray the credit they deserve.
