I think the hardest part in the real combat is how to detect drone early enough, while there are so many other things going on.

As a Russian citizen who's against the war please let me express my opinion. There are many types of drones and they carry different type of shells and explosion. When you hit the drone, his last geo position will be used as a target point for mortar fire.
Second. FPV drones. They are fast as hell and have a huge maneuverability. The person who would be carrying a shotgun, will be target number one, and probably will be wounded or even KIA.
Third. Some drones drop 82 mm, 120mm mortal shell, and they could do it from 100 meters above you and even higher, so it's hard to hit that small objects. And several other reasons.
Don't get me wrong. Who can shoot steady and accurate always has a better chance to survive, no doubt about it.
Laser radar or mm band radar, low power, can detect them well far enough away to deal with them without alerting your enemy, at least until the drone dies, then it is time to move. 30 cal minigun slaved to the radar would have no issue hosing it down. High power laser even more so. You are right about how effective these new toys are but I assure you smart people around the world are working on cheap effective countermeasures. No such thing as a stealthy propeller. That is their weak point. And some people are building flying cars based on the same multiprop system. I can see a flying car losing one engine and plummeting to the ground like a winged duck.
@@Dannysoutherner well, it's understandable. But that's another level. You could easily spot them all and intercept like Anduril and other companies do. On top of that, you could use a jammer or drone rifle and even capture them. But all of that is possible without shotguns, miniguns and etc.
@@Dannysoutherner For all type of radars, lasers, drone busters you need a source of energy...Think about if in the trench you have any? And you are wounded? In this case you are an easy target for any drone, even slow going too.

You don't have to ask permission to express your opinion. Also, you are stating facts, not opinions, you're 100% correct
First you have to hear or see them. I am sure Ukrainians and Russians are trying their best to shoot them down, but it is the speed the low noise and the fear of everything else that keeps them from shooting them down efficiently. Some drones are even sneaking up to a couple of meters before sending them to the backrooms plus the impaired hearing through artillery, grenade and rifle fire is making it worse.
However, training is better than no training.
Not really... most ppl getting attacked just seem to try and dodge them. It takes discipline to stand your ground and use your weapon, even though this is the best chance u got!
That's why they are training on this. To be disciplined in combat u need lots of training.

@@kungfreddieThere’s mixed success with small arms. I think a lot of the time they survive by dodging the smaller fpvs too, there are a lot of variables.
The problem I think for them is saturation. If you’re spotted by one, 4 or 5 rally. Overwatch and some loitering. I’ve seen them target one dude 7, 8 times (because he kept running and dodging). Also relaying your location to arty. So you can’t stand and skeet shoot all day. Gotta move. A long way in a short time.
What about kamikaze drones? They’re not just gonna hover…
I think the point is to develop a set of tactics and procedures that have radar guided guns targeting drones and have the solider with practiced skills to take down such a target. Defense are layered, right? You practice and practice, then do war games so there is a skillset available at the forward unit level. Just MHO.

Dann scheißen sie sich beim ersten Fronteinsatz gegen FPV-Drohnen nicht in die Hosen. Well, he shot down multiple skeet-shoot traveling at 60 MPH.
Also, no quadcopter on the battlefield goes 140kph. The industry standard Mavic 3 Pro and Air 3, which are the top of the line go under 50 MPH.
And no, "Soon they'll use race drones" is not a valid argument, because by that logic, soon they'll use mini kamikaze interceptor drones that launch and ram the enemy drone passively, and without command. It already exists.
Finally, this is being done right now as we speak with shotguns in Ukraine, so any criticism of it's validity is invalid. The US is just imitating them for testing and experimentation for the new battlefield.
Definitely better ways will be invented no doubt though.

Not all drones are kamikaze. Some are for reconnaissance
Fpvs maybe, this probably works for the annoying ones dangling frags and running reconnaissance.
FPVs are primary used to attack tanks otherwise its usually recon which is unarmed and slower

Dude what's funny is russ has developed underbarrel shotguns for their ak platforms that have a 4-6 inch barrel on them to help with drones. While underbarrel shotguns are not new the need for a longer barrel to make it effective to more than inches is hilarious

It's funny how, time and time again, clay shooting has formed a key part of aerial defence training. Air Gunners and fighter pilots during WWll were given clay target shooting instruction in order to calculate lead on a moving target. Even back as far as WWl it was appreciated as a useful skill if a pilot or gunner had done much game shooting with a shotgun.
Today, the basic principles hold true for that 'last ditch' close contact, drone strike training. I would love to have a crack at a drone target! In civilian terms.....a fun challenge. Clearly it's a little more serious for military personnel!! 😊

These guys will get a lesson in real war if they ever get to the frontline.
That has applied to everyone that hasn’t been to war for all of mankind’s existence.
This is the first real bad conflict since WW2 so no one in the last 100 years knows what "real war" looks like. But America has been in conflict of some kind ALL but 27 years of our existence including the "real wars" that went on. War and violence is so glorified in our country that the second we are not fighting someone else we think about fighting each other. So yeah I think we can handle a couple tier 2 militaries like Russia and China.

とはいえ小さなドローンを発見できる距離と有効打が届く範囲を合わせて50ｍ程度が限界になるのかな？
その距離まで近づかせてくれる -マヌケな- オペレータが居るかどうかですね
小型ドローンは低空飛行も可能ですから発見するのは困難でしょう。あるいは数百メートルに高度を上げて接近するして爆弾を投下かもしれません。また、接近したあと急加速することも可能です。
クレー射撃のように発射口が分かっていて軌道の予測が出来る訳でも無いでしょう。
射撃の腕を上げることは悪いことではないでしょけど戦場で様々なドローンに対応するのは難しそうです。

あんなおもちゃみたいなドローンでは
①航続距離が短い（近くからしか飛ばせられない=操縦手が近くに潜んでいる）
②武装がほぼ積めない（爆弾でもそんなに積めないから打撃が与えられない。せいぜいガラスを割るか、兵士にケガを負わす程度=脅威ではない）
③電波障害に弱い（強力なECMかけられてはそもそも飛べなくなる）
④多数を同時に運用できない（同時に使えるチャンネルがすぐパンクする=編隊飛行なんか夢のまた夢）
他には
編隊飛行などの多数の運用はできない（視界がそもそも狭い）緊密な連携なども取れない（パイロット同士の連携の訓練でも日にちがかかる）
爆弾や燃料なども詰めないから、そもそも打撃力がない（できてせいぜい嫌がらせ程度、窓ガラスにカミカゼアタックレベル）
遠距離ミサイルの方が効率いいだろ…
クレー射撃して、鵜とか鴨とかの狩猟をすれば、1番の練習になると思います。
ドローンの操縦も、クレー射撃もするけど、おもちゃでも結構なスピード出るし、急停止や急旋回しながら接近されたら当てる自信はありません。鴨でも外すのに。
実際に撃墜するのなら、電波妨害しながら、動きがおかしくなった所をバードショットで撃ち落とす。
そんな感じでしか撃てないと思います。

I would think defensive drones programmed to take out attacking drones would be the way to go.
defensive drones would have to carry an awful lot of tech, making them expensive... drones don't actually stay in sky for very long either. So you'd have to have 1000s of rotation.
It's pointless. The only effective means to stop this is having effective jammers. If not you're sitting ducks regardless if you have a 2000$ shotgun. Theres a reason why Russia and ukraine aren't enlisting the help of trap shooters. Theres no point waving a shotty around at a drone that's 10x faster than a human can follow with a rifle/shotty..
Jammers and or emps are the only future. Destroying all "ground bases" electronics is the only way to get these fpv drones out of the air they'll need troop jammers (part of a soldiers kit) and reaper jammers circling the battlefield doing 360 degree jamming, which will destroy all contact on the battlefield for both sides. I have a feeling conventional warfare is likely to revert back to older styles, like Nam, ww2, Korea... the only way to protect soldiers will be jamming everyone's signal, drones are just too effective, and cheap, in large scale combat to not completely iraticate
@@jlo7770 I saw some of these drones are flying by analogue to get around the jammers, it's an arms race, and they're always one step ahead. You could also fly them by wire too - which again would get you around the jamming.

Now try it against an fpv drone diving right at you - thats what they should be practicing for

there's a reason why so much is being poured into EW jamming equipment or things like M-LIDs, because the rate things are going some emergency shotguns aren't going to be enough to shoot something the size of a human hand travelling at 150km/h
im not trying to be a prick or knowitall, i just hope our militaries are ready for when russia pursues the expansion against its neighbours that it's be proclaiming it will over & over for the last 20 years - i dont want our generation or our children getting slaughtered because we're not learning from the war in ukraine

Just like they have multiple ways of engaging jets, but SOP when they're diving in and you have no cover is to shoot back. Might not seem likely but a platoon shooting at a specific target has a high probability of at least hitting it and they're doing 140kmh before they leave the ground. Just because we train for one possibility doesn't make it the only option lmao

it's all well & good saying a platoon's concentrated fire vs 1 fpv etc. but you can see in Ukraine it doesn't work like that.
1 a platoon isn't just bunched like this, they have to have much spacing to avoid artillery, there are teams advancing, supressing, doing all kinds of different roles that need to be done against the enemy in front of them
2 it's obviously heading to a direction where drone attacks are a squadron of fpvs hitting targets at once - this is already begining to happen as drone warfare is more integrated - the more ordinance brought on a target, the less concentrated the defensive fire, the more likely the drones are to get through

Spotter drones will be too high to see visually or hear. Automated systems are needed, maybe lazers. The solution is not at hand just yet but people are working on it.
Love it! Every fighting unit even down to squad level can easily be trained to be their own AA system against drones.

I find it hard to shoot flying objects with tactical style sights on the M1014, I tried it with an A300 shooting clays. Ultimately hit more with bead or the notch sights on my Saiga
I'm very surprised there's not a miniature version of the Phalanx system that will do this.

As a pheasant and waterfowl hunter with 50 years experience I can tell you if you're good enough to hit a drone with a shotgun on a at will regular basis you need to be on an Olympic skeet or trap team
Only wayvI see that as a viable anti drone defense is using 12ga 3.5" shells loaded with 600 #9 TSS pellets to give you a large enough and dence enough shot pattern to be effective and still you will have to be under 60 yards to be effective
Better off developing a fully automatic weapon system that fires shells loaded with either 100s each of flachetts or 1ks of pellets
Most drones are about the size of a duck or Canadian goose but flying significantly faster making for a very difficult target to hit by a shoulder fired weapon with only human hand eye coordination aiming it.
Kevla string is very light and would jam almost ever propeller.
In order to be accurate FPV drones fly very slowly, typically. Just check out some videos.

Don't worry bro, if China goes off in the pacific there will be a lot of countries helping out I think. They're effectively surrounded on all their ports and in the beginning of conflict their oil pipe lines will be severed, and the southern countries will block any ships coming from the middle east. The Phillipines were smart to renegotiate their position on having us bases in their country, you'll have the best trained armies in the world helping you and every other small country in the pacific out.
I see mass conflict with china/north Korea vs the rest of the pacific Islands being a horrible idea. Just look at the 3 lines of defense the US has in the pacific. China would have to hit every base and every ship simultaneously with a whole lot of firepower to knock the us out of the fight. Us should start the "pito" the pacific version of nato. Pacific countries allied with the us and the us's allies would be a massive deterrence to China/North Korea doing anything silly in the pacific.

Reality is cheap and massively fielded drones changed the face of war and no anti-drone system has been proven to match up. You either have to spend a lot of money (radars, ECM, jamming, laser, etc.) to have something moderately effective against them or actually overwhelm your enemy by fielding even more drones. Whoever is able to produce more and cheaper military-grade drones will have an advantage. I’m looking at you, China.

Much more difficult when there's a swarm of them, and as others have said, they're moving.
A more long-term solution would be counter drones with the ability to physically crash into them but strong enough to survive itself.

The main problem is that drone-pilots will see you first with mavic 3 and will do attack by fpv drone. And you will have only one short chance to survive this attack or even will not have a chance.
So, hidding from drone eyes must be first especially from thermal drones.

@@calciumoxide3385 Any gun can shoot at drone if you see it first. The problem is not how to shoot a drone but how to discover it first and soon enough to react. Thermal/optical sights can only cover in their FOV while radar has trouble to tell which is the drone due to them being small and flying low.
After watching numerous videos of fpv drone attacks, I am certain that trained 'anti-drone' gunners, armed with proper weapons can eliminate most FPV drone threats! Have you ever shot skeet?

Agreed, most were NOT maneuvering. So it made them an easy target. Also, notice this was all day time, where is the video of them shooting them down at night? Those guys skeet shooting, talk about reaction time. The speed of those when they come out is damn FAST.

System like this should be last ditch though. By the time you can see them you are already in big trouble.
Just make an automatic turret like phalanx but with 12gauge, or something like an AA12. Its really crucial to prevent this from speeding up and spot it early, so I think digital tracking systems are necessary for that.
Small fast drones using terrain will be difficult but you gotta start somewhere with training. Interesting to see skeet shooting in the marine Corp and I like the humvee replacement vehicles , look better thought out . Keep up the great work , God bless the troops

逆に”飽和攻撃しないと”効果が出ない状態にできるのであればそは迎撃の効果が出てる所為でもある。
いくら単価が安くても膨大な数を供給運用するのはそれ相応に難しくて
そこに個別のドローン対抗手段が出てくれば低価値目標であっても攻撃コストが上がっていくので
攻撃手段としてのドローンにも当然限界がでてくる。
実際既にウクライナだけでも毎月1万機のペースでドローンは投入し消耗してるけど、対抗手段と装備が時間の経過と主に充足してきて以前ほどの戦果は出なくなってきてる。

Drones biggest threat to any military is its price/performance characteristics, which means enemy can send a drone pack instead of a single drone, which is hard to detect in the first hand. Even if the drone itself doesnt carry any bomb or whatsoever it can detect your position for artillery fire or air strike, and would be undetected from hundreds of meters altitute if not thousands. So shooting it with shotgun may work in training but i bet will be useless in an actual fight. Not to mention there are different types of drones, some of them not bigger then a few inch with minimal sound, so drone threat can be beaten if only you can detect it before it detects you.

They need some type of sound system that will pick up the noise and bearing of the drones. Someone with big ears on in the platoon. Similar to the anti-sniper system of Vietnam. Nice to have type of proximity round that will explode near the drone. Probably deploy some anti drone netting. Glad to see them training with shotguns and skeets
Guys , imo long range drone detection systems should be a important thing. Tracking a drones video relay and sending a explosive counter drone needs to be very Hi priority.

Laughable at best. You only have to watch footage from Ukraine. In most instances, the troops on the ground don't even see the drone coming and what about those dropping grenades from height. Still, if it makes the grunts feel safe, can't be a bad thing.

People hunt ducks from pretty close distance. At that distance against a drone you are dead in seconds. Also ducks are super slow.
Drones will swarm attack. Some will get through. Directed pulsed energy weapons at distance will be required. Inexpensive kinetic weapons (guns) can be used close in for those that penetrate but will ineffective at distance.
A drone is a camera platform. It’s so high up and far away that you can’t hear or see them. They also do 40+ mph and are very maneuverable. They can fly above the clouds. They use telephoto camera lens so they don’t have to get close.

@@Rumwhiskey at the moment, i don't think there really is a viable way to counter it. Like the "cope cages" and turtle tanks, this is just stopgap measures until you have an actual countermeasure. It's better than nothing, but not ideal whatsoever.

Every major country needs to devise a way to get 500$ drones out of the air their only option right now is bulky "jammer guns" and small arms fire. The army over here did a test recently, they simulated recent combat conditions for 1 day. They lost about 90 percent of personel in 1 day killed and wounded, Shotguns are not the wonderweapons.
You realize those tests are meant to exercise failure conditions? Those scenarios are designed to stress test a unit to its breaking point, see what breaks and how to fix it. That will never correlate into real world situations. Anyone with a basic understanding of implementation and strategy will recognize that. You don't build a strategy with simple theory. You have to put it into practice, then you have to stress test it to the point of absurdity to know where the weak points in the strategy are.

They're having a really hard time hitting stationary drones. I don't think the mark 1 eyeball is going to be very effective. I think radar guided guns and directed energy weapons are going to be the future.

Drones don’t hover in the air & wait for the enemy to shoot them down…. if the enemy drone is NOT disabled within 4 - 5 seconds of engagement the operator is dead & the method is useless. Has anyone got a suggestion here? Put it out there….

あんな小さい的に当てるの無理じゃねと思ったけどクレー射撃の要領もあるのか、戦地はともかく少し前の護衛艦や空母を撮影されたみたいに市街地が近いと難しいよね。
実際問題として迎撃のために撃った弾の地上への付随被害のリスクが高いから、安易に迎撃でき無いってのはデカい 特に平時の市街地なんて非常に困難
まぁだからレーザーやマイクロ波とかの迎撃手段をみんな開発導入しようとしてる。

Glad to see our military is "taking notes" on the Ukraine war and learning some lessons!!! This is a "watershed" moment in war, like WW1 was and this will be the future.
The drone cameras have great zoom capabilities. They can identify the type of weapon each soldier is carrying far out of range of a rifle, much less a shotgun. Radar will have to locate them and electronic interference or flak type rounds will have to take them out.

UAVとか高度のもっと高い所を飛んでるなら小銃でも無理だろうし、前線の歩兵分隊が偵察ドローンに遭遇したら？って状況なんだと思う。
とりあえず自分達の手持ちの小火器での対処訓練だから、偵察ドローンを潰す訓練は有効なはず。
高速の軍用ドローンはコストも高くなるので対抗手段もそれなりに高コストなもので割が合う。ジャミングなり火器管制装置備えた対空兵器なり。
民間用ドローンは低速だけど安くて数が揃うから高コストな対抗手段では割に合わない。安くて低性能で数が多いドローンへの対抗手段としてショットガンはよいと思うよ。なんといっても安いから。

現実的に難しい・無理なのは同感。
こうすればいいと訓練させて兵を安心させる目的もあるのではないかと思う。

効率を考えて ポンプ式でガンガン行ってますが、 できれば 水平2連なんかで 左右それぞれの銃身の絞りで 距離を分けて
2発で落としたら ビール一杯おまけ とか景品付きでやったら 楽しそうですね

いやウクライナでも似たような方法で結構墜とされてる。LMGの掃射とかで墜としてる。
ウクライナでは民間用ドローンに小さい爆弾乗せたり偵察に使うケースも多くてその場合はこんな感じだよ。
高高度かつ高速なものは軍用でより大型、高コストになるので数が揃えにくい。
安くて数の多いドローンには安い対抗手段が望ましいのでショットガンは有用だよ。
ウクライナで１０万機投入して戦果１００両程度みたいなので、阻止不可能なんてものではなく、
ほとんど阻止しているけどゼロに出来ない取りこぼしで深刻な損害くらっている
が実際のところじゃないかな。

I have wondered why it took them so long to go back to skeet shooting training. That was standard for initial training of gunners and pilots in WWII
