End sexism. Not just only in India, but the whole of the human species needs to understand that any form of discrimination is barbaric and must be uprooted from our conscience.

Pregnancy, being walked on, periods, cramps, cravings, being emotional, depression, being raped or molested, being called a slut or a hoe by other females, being called fat if they eat, having to do their hair every morning, having to put on make-up to feel beaurtiful, being stressed out, being insecure. Women go through alot and that's not
even half of what they go through. Don't put a Girl through more shit, she already has to go through alot. Respect Women.

STOP BLAMING THE VICTIM!!! There should be more focus on how we change men's obsession of sex and to teach men how to control their urges, instead of focusing on what the women is doing wrong. WE NEED TO CHANGE THE DISCUSSION to MEN: the question is what is wrong with men's psyche that they feel they can assault women physically and verbally, why are they sooo obsessed with sex that they cant control their urges. But of course in a male dominated culture, the discussion is controlled by men, and I guess men are too coward to point their fingers at themselves ~ What a shame!

Education is not awareness... we are not educated in school, we are moulded to becoming slaves for the economy of the country... does anybody talk about what it means about sex, sexual difference awareness... it not equality that I would fight for women, but to see us as what we are and respect it...

  • @cannesberges5870

Rape is not the only problem in India...another huge problem in India is the fact that many men(from all socio- economic backgrounds) feel like they have a right to "eve-tease"(verbally as well as physically harass innocent females..e.g. making lewd remarks or pinching/grabbing female body parts)....i used to take that shit for granted in India but having travelled overseas and having lived in North America for almost a decade, I've come to realize that shit is ABNORMAL & must not be tolerated

@usman you're doing EXACTLY what the video is about. You're making it the womans fault. Do you honestly think that if a husband rapes his wife, she can just leave? There's probably physical abuse and mental abuse going on as well. They're probably scared for their life, with good reason! Perhaps more would leave if India had a law against marital rape, but as they don't, it adds up.

It's not always poor Indian men who rape. Rapists come from all backgrounds(rich, middle class, poor, educated, uneducated, hindu, muslim, sikh, christian, buddhist, jain, etc). One summer at the age of 15, i remember a well dressed upper-middle class looking Indian man in Delhi was making lewd gestures at me as i was walking past him to get into my car(in which my mom was waiting for me). I was dressed in regular fitting jeans and t-shirt and had done nothing to "provoke" him at all!

It is a violation of human rights when women are denied the right to plan their own families, and that includes being forced to have abortions or being sterilized against their will. If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, it is that human rights are women's rights - and women's rights are human rights. Let us not forget that among those rights are the right to speak freely - and the right to be heard.

Rapes are out come of highly suppressed sexuality in India. Problem needs to be addressed in psychosocial manner government increased punishment for rape criminals recently which would not help much.
Its patriarchal society interaction between men and women is a taboo , huge sexophobia outside marriage, courtship before marriage is taboo local movies portrays women as seductresses which men have no access before marriage. Economy doesn't support independent survival of young adults they fall back in to grips of patriarchal control.

Her features were dainty, her small slender wrists climbed up to become the delicate shoulders that beckoned him. Her skin was like peach-tinted cream and he need not have touched her to experience the melting softness of her body. Her perfectly oval face was austere and her manner a little haughty. Her expressions had delicacy as well as a particular strength that did not abate her femininity. It seemed that the world had stopped.

Man is defined as a human being and a woman as a female - whenever she behaves as a human being she is said to imitate the male. Sex pleasure in women is a kind of magic spell; it demands complete abandon; if words or movements oppose the magic of caresses, the spell is broken.

I am not assuming any number. I am only asking questions. It is common practice in many nations for a government to lie about the number of crimes. It's embarrassing, but the first step towards solving a problem is admitting there is one. Not only that, but if you were raped, would you want to tell anyone? Just because the reported numbers are low doesn't mean it's not happening. With rape the number is usually higher than is reported.

Marital rape being not illegal is surprising..But more surprising is even if the data of high % of domestic violence is there, yet u'll hear persons relating to the authority protecting women rights saying that he can never digest that an woman can ever tortured for dowry or domestic violence. And if u r against the domestic violence or dowry torture and leaving ur husband then u r not eligible to get maintenance for living and u'll be left for begging if u have no social or financial support.

rapes are not justified society needs to be lead to a workable solution and media has a huge responsibility in doing so, taboo should be lifted over the fact that a human being is also sexual being, lack of sexual expression leads to suffocation that comes out in unfortunate manners such as rape freedom of open interaction between young adults and freedom to exercise consensual sexual choices should be part of basic human freedom, these values are often ignored but they are very fundamental in psycho-social development of a healthy sexuality in young adults. india has a sports ministry devoted to promote healthy physical and mental development of youth but sexual development is as important which is often undermined by socio cultural factors , its time as a society we start discussing these issues openly.

I absolutely agree. The number of rapes reported in the United States is definitely lower than the number of actual rapes. I know people who have been assaulted but never reported the incident. It happens everywhere. There are problems all over the world and I don't see why we have to argue about which country is best. To be honest, I would love to visit India someday. The problem I see is when you try to deny the problem exists and do little or nothing to try to stop it.
