You wouldn't need AWACS - or the F-35Bs given the attacking F-35s were coming in at 47,000 feet! At that altitude the Type 45s would track them easily at 230+ miles - and the dogfighting was all done at about 90 miles - within the range of ASTER 30. The so-called modelling in DCS is atrocious.
Cap said we have 4 destroyers, we actually have 6. Still, mustering 4 in one place would be extremely unlikely. When we operate CSG’s we tend to do so with other nations. As we have done in the past such as 1 type 45, 1 type 23, 1 astute sub, 1 US Arleigh burke and a dutch frigate. Also a couple of RFA ships.
Watching this as a brit... I'm just glad we'll never have to go up against stealths apart from the Chinese (maybe) and the SU-57 (not as stealthy, allegedly) Great fight though, seen a few say it but would the British and USA not go full IR missiles in a stealth v stealth fight? Or do they think the short range capabilities of the fox-3s as well as the potential threat of 4th Gens to be worth keeping them?
Cap … no … no … having the British fight Americans in 2023 is against all of the laws of man and nature! Seriously though, people know that the British military and the American military cooperate with one another but they might be surprised just how close that cooperation can be. In the 1980’s I worked at Edwards AFB. At that time the F-15 was America’s (and the World’s) premier fighter. At Edwards there were several F-15 test-bed aircraft for testing advanced new technology. I saw a British RAF Group Captain climb into one of these highly sensitive F-15’s, taxi out to the runway, take off, and disappear into the wild blue yonder. There were no escort aircraft of any kind that I could see. I wager that there were very few other pilots of other air forces besides the RAF that would have been entrusted to fly that test-bed aircraft back then, let alone fly it without an escort.
@@92HazelMocha Why do you say that about the AIM-260? I believe it is being developed to have the same form/size profile so as to fit into existing internal weapons bays such as the F-22/35

I believe The JATM would have a more advanced seeker head and less likely to drop lock compared* to The Meteor, considering its meant to destroy 5th and even 6th gen fighters... definitely a missile problem😅 I still absolutely dropped The Like👍 This was great!👍👍
Do the JTAMs go too fast in shorter range engagements that they’re not agile enough to track and chase aircraft? They are designed for longer range engagements where that initial burst of speed isn’t such a problem, but rather maintain speed later in the engagement.
How have you modelled the surge sortie rates of the Nimitz vs the QE class? It's my understanding (from a friend who worked on the QEs at BAES, and from a USN lecture on the Ford class design studies available on YT) that the QE can physically launch deck parked F-35Bs at the same speed or slightly faster than a Nimitz if it had to. Transfer from hangar to deck is slower, and where the Nimitz really shows its superiority in size and crew is the over 2x surge sortie rate in 24 hours. The Ford is even more impressive.
And the highly automated QE will have something break - as the catapult/arrester on the Ford probably would too - Nimitz for the win in actual combat conditions!
There shouldn't be a chance CIWS getting 0% pk on these subsonic LRASMs throughout all your naval battles, considering they worked just fine against harpoon and sometimes even supersonic ASMs. Either the damage model is bugged or targeting is bugged. Presently LRASMs are just console kill and when they're out there's 0 suspense left.

I wonder how well, or if at all, this simulation models the electronic radar countermeasures of 4th and 5th gen aircraft?? I know the stealth is modeled pretty well, but is something like the F35 radar countermeasures modeled as well as the stealth?? Are things like data links taken into consideration?? I love watching these videos.
@mstevens113 Alot of it is known. Even if the exact specs aren't released its widely known what the capability of current technology is. While only the DOD may know exactly what the capabilities are it shouldn't be hard for a knowledgeable person to approximate the abilities of the tech that is known to be utilized. This wouldn't create an exact model, but it could get close.
Im pretty certain all new missiles in development are going to feature dual seekers with an IR component specifically because of the proliferation of 5th gen aircraft.
Can you tell me how to make the same loss statistics in the right-hand corner as in the video? Is this a custom mod, or can it be downloaded somewhere?
Do we (Brits) even have a carrier born AEWAC??? Or do we just use air force Poseidon's and similar? In terms of heatseakers, dont f35s have sensors that detect them? Not sure if thats intergrateable but something to keep in mind ig
Ours would be the incoming Wedgetails which would have to come in from the mainland, or a Crowsnest Merlin, which wouldn't give as much range as the US Hawkeye.
Merlin HM2 with Crowsnest - a surprisingly capable platform. Carrier-only though as the toy town Royal Navy only had the budget to buy five - two per carrier and one spare. The Frigates and Destroyers have to make do with Lynxes with much less capable RADAR installations.
Yup, In reality the Brits would have zero chance. As it stands today, the new Royal Navy Carriers can't operate alone in a contested environment because they can't carry E2D AWACS and their sortie rate and launch weight are too small. Plus lack of air refueling capability means they don't have the strike range of a US Carrier. The RN would have been better off with one Ford Class carrier, instead of two ski jump carriers.
Merlin HM2 with Crowsnest is at least as good as a 2000s-era full on AWACS plane. Only the QEs have them though as the pathetic RN could only afford five!
Could the angle of battle be hindering the AWACS’s ? Reposition plus escorts to give them more support maybe the drone system if possible to assingn with out human for just escort and shielding
You may have 6. But I highly doubt a country that's not even willing to spend enough money. To create a destroyers with enough VLS. Cells gonna have 6 working ships at 1 time.
The only thing I would say is the Qe carrier can hold up to around 54 f35 aswell as 4-6 helicopters at absolute maximum, so really in a war if it’s like this we would have 48-54 f35 as we would. Only deploy one carrier in this situation so we can deploy as many as possibly, some sources say we can have 70 aircraft but we can’t 60 aircraft at absolute maximum.
Next time do this, but launch the Americans mixed, instead of just A/A first and A/G second. I bet you could have taken the carrier out before a bunch of the F-35s took off
Because DCS is a joke - the entire air to air battle was well within the range of ASTER 30 - Type 45 can track F-35 perfectly well at 250+ miles - let alone 90!
something that will give us a real edge and give us our true naval power in this game is if they add the Perseus FC/ASW or FOSW, whatever you want to call it. the type 45s will probably carry 16 Perseus and 32 aster 30s in their 48 sylvers, and 24 sea ceptors in their own silos. then the type 26 would probably fill its 24 mk41 with 24 Perseus or maybe slightly less to add some sea ceptors. either way, it will make our outcomes alot better. Our F-35s would also be able to carry Perseus for an airborne anti shipping capability. We will probably have F-35C+drones soon as well if project Ark Royal goes ahead.
also do you now see how broken LRASMs are? Nothing seems to be able to to stop them even though ship based point defense missiles should at least be able to stop a few.

Placing CIWS aft gives greater arcs. It is the logical place for anti-air weapons. Consider the Bristol against T42.
Love seeing the underwater capabilities of the F-35 at 51:49, a testament to its advanced engineering!
How could this happen you ask? One day in a joint naval exercise, the US Navy threw bags of tea into the sea
Yes, the tea sure did cause an issue to be sure! 😊
With these JTAM seeker issues it amazes me that they won't have a hybrid IR/EO system fitted to assist in guidance when fired against stealth targets.
That was a great one, loved it, thank you.
Also a couple of RFA ships.
never understood why there is no CWIS on the front of american ships. you would think there would of been at least 1 fore and aft at a minimum
Watching this as a brit... I'm just glad we'll never have to go up against stealths apart from the Chinese (maybe) and the SU-57 (not as stealthy, allegedly)
Great fight though, seen a few say it but would the British and USA not go full IR missiles in a stealth v stealth fight?

Loses tailfin.
Keeps flying.
What a champ.
I don’t believe it’s possible for short range missiles (9x, asraam) to be carried internally by any of the F-35 models, only on the wing tips.
It's not. Additionally the UK F35's won't have meteor until at least 2027 and US F35's will never carry aim260.
@@92HazelMocha Why do you say that about the AIM-260? I believe it is being developed to have the same form/size profile so as to fit into existing internal weapons bays such as the F-22/35
@@92HazelMocha Indeed, with the current cuts to support Ukraine it might be 2030 before we can afford to upgrade to block 4 (required for Meteor) - assuming the trimmed fin version even works! The British forces are a run-down joke.
is the flir cube thing modeled in game? cause to my understanding it giving a decent aoa should be able to track the signature of an aircraft. now. how does that help with radio guidance? idk.
51:44 lmao those new British Submersible F-35's!😆👍
5:30 ive always preferred this way lol fight to the death! Lol so tired of people complaining about how its not realistic! Hb whats fun and entertaining! Good call Cap! Please apply this attitude more often, not saying go crazy with it bc a level of realism is important for Wargames in a sim however i think a good balance is most important ;)
55:17 a wall off Helicopters just hovering in wait??
A good balance of fun and entertainment with a level of realism! Pretty much sums it up lol and coincidentally you guys already seemingly* have that mentality😁✌
19:11 Lmao I kno I was just talking about ppl complaining about realism... I believe The JATM would have a more advanced seeker head and less likely to drop lock compared* to The Meteor, considering its meant to destroy 5th and even 6th gen fighters... definitely a missile problem😅
I still absolutely dropped The Like👍 This was great!👍👍
Do the JTAMs go too fast in shorter range engagements that they’re not agile enough to track and chase aircraft?
They are designed for longer range engagements where that initial burst of speed isn’t such a problem, but rather maintain speed later in the engagement.
Also factor in the stealth having an impact too, makes it easier to lose track
Brilliant work as always, and I really hope you're doing OK.
jolly good show you guys, thank ya so much. keep-um coming . . .
Thank you all love this
There shouldn't be a chance CIWS getting 0% pk on these subsonic LRASMs throughout all your naval battles, considering they worked just fine against harpoon and sometimes even supersonic ASMs. Either the damage model is bugged or targeting is bugged. Presently LRASMs are just console kill and when they're out there's 0 suspense left.
that's because the CIWS is radar guided, hard to get a solution on them because they are stealth, harpoons and supersonics are not stealth.
The issue is that its radar couldn't track them so it was relying on the EOS which is not nearly as accurate for targeting purposes.
@@GageEakins at ranges that close radars should be able to track them
@@GageEakins At 15-20 km ranges, the radar of the Type 45 should've been able to detect and track them, possibly even further for the AWACS.
@Mr Supercap.... soooooo what happens if the QE has a full complement of F35s? come on you know you want to try it 😁
Def Brit win!
To be fair… I hate seeing us go against our British brothers. Great video.
Likewise the other way my friend. Our Carrier groups are perfectly made to complement each other. 🇬🇧🇺🇸💪
Only American seeing British as a brother. The British don't think like that
@@redblueyankee8343Don't worry, the majority of Americans do not see the brits. As this comment put us, we see you guys as exactly what you are. Partners with similar interest as us. Not brothers or cousins
All i know is the uk definitely has the best looking navy just wish we had more of them
Navy is all about looks 😂. Can’t get chics without it!
@@dexlab7539 he girl, you seen my boat 😂
You should do a follow-up of the British carrier trying to get hime and being intercepted and attacked by another US carrier group.
type 31 frigate?
Is there a posiibility, to get hands on your improved Aircrafts mods for private personal use only? I´d be curios to try.
F35 v f35, would being loaded out with more fox 2s be better than fox 3s?
What was the wager? Do the British get their colonies back if they win?
Does the QE not have a short-range defence system?
I think it does but did not fire.
Ahh, I see Cap answered that one when he said the Super Hornets are using active radar jammers, I'll take that as a yes.
How can it? Is not like the details are released for public knowledge! 😂
Should Zimba be Knighted? Sir Zimba?
The American carriers have the EA18G Growler for electronic warfare?
Im pretty certain all new missiles in development are going to feature dual seekers with an IR component specifically because of the proliferation of 5th gen aircraft.
I wish the Europeans/Brits would hurry up and put an IR seeker on Meteor. The Russians have IR versions of R77.
Can you tell me how to make the same loss statistics in the right-hand corner as in the video? Is this a custom mod, or can it be downloaded somewhere?
A guns only dogfight would be problematic given the f35b & c don’t have cannons?
F35C does have a gun if I'm not mistaken it's the F35b that has the gun pod
Yup, In reality the Brits would have zero chance. As it stands today, the new Royal Navy Carriers can't operate alone in a contested environment because they can't carry E2D AWACS and their sortie rate and launch weight are too small. Plus lack of air refueling capability means they don't have the strike range of a US Carrier. The RN would have been better off with one Ford Class carrier, instead of two ski jump carriers.
Merlin HM2 with Crowsnest is at least as good as a 2000s-era full on AWACS plane. Only the QEs have them though as the pathetic RN could only afford five!
@@LondonSteveLeeI agree, the crow's nest. A wax is comparable to American a wax. But it's not anywhere near on the same level.
Could the angle of battle be hindering the AWACS’s ? Reposition plus escorts to give them more support maybe the drone system if possible to assingn with out human for just escort and shielding
AI in DCS do not deploy countermeasures against IR seeker missiles if they are fired at a target outside of 10 miles / 16KMs. Do not know why though.
Did you say Frying Dutchman, the all you can eat seafood place in The Simpsons?
Great memory!
@@grimreapers Just dont ask me what color shirt I wore yesterday.
Just for fun can we see the team try to land an A10 on an aircraft carrier- in bad weather- fully loaded?
Can u simulate a fictitious invasion of a major city by a rogue PMC?
1814 we took a little trip, we hucked LRASMs at the QE and she did indeed take some hits.
Cap: "we've only got four destroyers" - we have six.
You may have 6. But I highly doubt a country that's not even willing to spend enough money. To create a destroyers with enough VLS. Cells gonna have 6 working ships at 1 time.
This was another fun one to watch!
This will be no contest.
Why are the brit f35s always firing at f18 at max range, they should be getting close to increase pk
The only thing I would say is the Qe carrier can hold up to around 54 f35 aswell as 4-6 helicopters at absolute maximum, so really in a war if it’s like this we would have 48-54 f35 as we would. Only deploy one carrier in this situation so we can deploy as many as possibly, some sources say we can have 70 aircraft but we can’t 60 aircraft at absolute maximum.
yes you did my video request THANK YOU
Yup
Is it the tea tax again?
Also: no MALDs?
Good thing we are both on the same side.
Next time do this, but launch the Americans mixed, instead of just A/A first and A/G second. I bet you could have taken the carrier out before a bunch of the F-35s took off
Agree but want a good hour long battle so will prefer AshP to be at the end.
Why didn't the Type 45s do anything during the air battle?
Because DCS is a joke - the entire air to air battle was well within the range of ASTER 30 - Type 45 can track F-35 perfectly well at 250+ miles - let alone 90!
How can I get the script for the money loss thing
When did the Royal Navy acquire legit AWACS for their fleet?
For stealth on stealth surely better to load them all up with fox 2s. Radar-guided not really working in this scenario.
something that will give us a real edge and give us our true naval power in this game is if they add the Perseus FC/ASW or FOSW, whatever you want to call it. the type 45s will probably carry 16 Perseus and 32 aster 30s in their 48 sylvers, and 24 sea ceptors in their own silos. then the type 26 would probably fill its 24 mk41 with 24 Perseus or maybe slightly less to add some sea ceptors. either way, it will make our outcomes alot better. Our F-35s would also be able to carry Perseus for an airborne anti shipping capability. We will probably have F-35C+drones soon as well if project Ark Royal goes ahead.
The type 45 is not likely to carry any, given its role as an AAW. The type 26 almost certainly will though.
@@cj64343 the new fc/asw or fosw missile coming out in 2030 is being built by mbda for the uk and france to carry in their sylvers.
Aren't half the aircraft on Lizzie US Marine Corp😅😅😅😅
also do you now see how broken LRASMs are? Nothing seems to be able to to stop them even though ship based point defense missiles should at least be able to stop a few.
Did you say we had 4 Destroyers? Maybe active at all times, yeah. But there are 6 in class
Wow didnt expect what i said to actually get applied, yay ... although probably a bad timing to implement it when fighting stealthy missiles...
Yeh, every small change can have a large overall change to outcome I notice.
Cap, could you simulate having half of the air wing up before starting the sim?
