This video has honestly put my mind at ease a great deal. I graduated high school two years ago and currently starting my journey to become a surgeon. I constantly felt like I was behind because i didn’t immediately go into school. or that i would be too old once i reach medschool. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been binge watching all your videos they’re very insightful!
Thank you! I appreciate it! Thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe:)

Thank you, yes age is just a number!
Me too! 40, I was a fashion model for more than 15 years but I have been missing than human connection.
Such great advice from Dr. Judianne Kellaway. I loved her tip to put personal growth information under extracurriculars. Such a great video, as always!
Thank you for watching!
The fact that Dr. Webb goes out of his way to make videos like these for us, thank you sir.
And thank you for asking about age. I needed to hear that

Dr. Webber. Lol
Good video though man!
TheCodFather 🤦🏻♀️ I’m happy I’m not the only one...
Thanks, Dr. Webb. I guess I kind of pictured the admissions team as a group of stodgy old politicians laughing and toasting brandy while flinging applications and dreams into the fireplace :) The dean seemed very relatable and nice, tho!
Quantum Crash 😂
Doctor, can you also make a video with residency program director if possible ? Thank you!
I will look into this! Thanks
Awesome video Dr. Webb this is a great video for pre meds to see how the behind the scenes people really think. I loved it and keep up the awesome work!

Really good video. Thanks for posting.
idk why i’m watching this i’m a sophomore in high school but ig always have to be prepared 6 years from now 😂😂
Great interview!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for helping me find an answer to my conundrum: While I am a US citizen, my parents are NOT. And they live outside US. We've no home/ other property (car, etc.) in the US. I completed my entire high school outside US. I am now a pre-med sophomore in a US school. While I don't have a Driving Licence yet, I'm registered to vote in the state I study now. When I apply to a public med school, how will you decide my "home state"?
Great information!!!!
Thank you for watching!
hi doctor webb. I learn a lot from your videos. Thanks for the advice and tips. Have a great day! Dr😄
Thanks!!
This is super helpful! ❤️
I don’t understand why by applying later, you have less of a chance... If the university put a deadline and you apply before that, shouldn’t all applicants be treated the same way?!
Because spots are offered through the cycle. So fewer and fewer seats are available. Kind of like first come first served. When seats are filled, they are filled. 🤷♀️
This is awesome!
Thanks!
Where can we get a hold of an application to see what we need to work on?
Thank you!
No problem! Please let me know of any other videos you would like to see or any other suggestions to improve the channel! Thanks for watching!
Dr. Webb
Lady, "Just get a better score on the MCAT"
Me, "Yeah...sureeeeeeeeeeeee"
I appreciate all you insight into the medical school/residency life and process. Just wondering; do you have a video on how much you, or an attending have to pay in insurance a year? Insurance I mean by the malpractice insurance. I’ve always been told they charge you outta the butt for it.
I dont but this is def something I can make a video about in the future
Do applicants who do not get into an American Medical School ever apply to any UK Medical schools?
At the beginning of the video, she spoke of rolling admissions. If I were to take the MCAT in May, after my spring classes are over (I will have finished my junior year as of May 2019) would that put me at a disadvantage since I could not apply early? Would you recommend taking the MCAT during April while I have class, potentially lowering my scores, over taking the MCAT when I am free in May?
Also, on another note, I am a physics student and have participated in particle physics research for a little over a year. Should I consider also gaining experience in a biology/chemistry lab as that is more applicable to medicine?
Thanks! Love your videos!
Take the MCAT when you’re ready to take it. I cannot stress this enough. Also, this is just for Texas. AMCAS doesn’t submit until beginning of June, and you can submit without an MCAT score. Remember, your application will take three weeks to transmit. My school is n=1, but I know a lot of classmates who submitted on the last day.
Aaron Scarpa totally agree!
Thank you so much Dr. Webb this gave me a boost of confidence, but I also have a question; does attending community college the first 2 years before transferring to a 4- yr University negatively affect your application to medical school as far as rigor? Thank you! (Also have other questions, is there any way to contact you via email? Thank you Dr.Webb!)
Hello,
Thanks for the question. You can definitely start off at a community college and then transfer to a university to finish your degree. In fact, that's exactly what I did. I started off at a community college and then transferred after 2 years. I recommend this way to:
Save money. Community colleges are cheaper
Smaller classes: this way you can get more 1:1 time with your professors and get to know them. This can become helpful when applying to medical school and you need letters or recommendations. It's kind of hard (but not impossibly) to get a letter from a college professor when you are 1 out of 300 people in a class
More flexible: They offer far more night classes than other universities and more schedule options.
So, I hope this helps! Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! My email is overcomingtheoddsbook@gmail.com
Im not sure if you already have but if you havent please subscribe!
Best,
AJW

Hi Dr. Webber, what other areas can i build-up in order to compensate for my average nursing school GPA?
Hey Dr Antonio, I've had a few set backs in my life and I'm still thinking whether i should do medicine..... That is my dream, passion and ultimate goal but one thing stopping me is my age.... I feel I'll be much older than other people if I do get accepted and I might struggle..... Have you got any tips and any word of advice?..... Thanks.....
Very informative video, thanks for the advice
Thank you for watching!
Can you interview a hospital admin , program director

Dr. Weber?
Thank you for the great video, Dr. Webb. What study plan did you use for the MCAT?
I have been telling the world for 50 years that medical care is a necessity, unlike the arts/humanities/entertainment,
and that we can therefore never have enough doctors & nurses and therefore nursing and medical schools should allow
everyone in who wants in. And governments should pay the schools and the students to teach & to learn all this knowledge.
Not my fault things are not this way. I have no control over that.
Can a student who had finished pre med in Barbados gain admission to Canada to start the MD degree?
Is there allow undergraduate student of USA but are non-citizen.
If I were to be a physician, I want to be a family medicine physician. That is like a good vision. Actually, I like the family medicine field. You know like in the past, there were physicians in the past that travel to homes and help people with their illnesses. That is what I want to do even as a RN or/and NP if possible. 🙏🏻🌻
I also want to help people thru medicine. 🙂💓
Maybe I can go to medical school like the dean in the video. I still confused why RN wouldgo to med school though 🤔
That sounds like a good plan! Keep up the great work!
It seems like knowing Spanish is important for this school.. I don’t think you get admitted to this school without knowing Spanish. pls correct me if I am wrong. Any non Spanish speaking students got admitted ????
Texas is unique in med school applications. 85% of those matriculate are going to be Texans. So much for diversity.
Y am I here...I’m going into gr 10...but I’m already panicking 💀
Does it pay off to shadow a doctor abroad
Amaka Ijeh Amaka how are you ?

Dr Webber??? lol oy vey!
Don't believe her. There is a cut off depending on race and age. Chance favors the prepared mind.
I am visually impaired (eyesight is 20/200 in weak eye not corrected) can I still become a doctor?
And thank you for asking about age. I needed to hear that
