I’m 6 weeks postpartum, and pregnancy was really hard on my skin. No acne issues, but there were lots of textural changes (maybe due to cessation of salicylic acid and retinoids) and the constant vomiting for the first 20 weeks contributed to broken capillaries. Now that I’m breastfeeding, dry skin is a huge issue particularly around the hairline and mouth. Thanks for acknowledging the struggle of adapting during a difficult yet joyful time.
Helpful. Thanks. I’m curious to see your post-pregnancy video next week. As someone who has 2 kids, each nursed for a year, the hardest thing about skincare substitutes is that (with a small break in between nursing the first and pregnancy with the second) I’ve been either pregnant or nursing for 5 years now!
Thanks for this video! Can you recommend a specific product containing Azelaic acid please? I used to use the Paula's Choice booster but I believe that contains salicylic acid too. The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid seems to be out of stock everywhere. Any other suggestions would be so appreciated!
I'm currently 9 months pregnant. I used the PC's azelaic acid booster and Dr Sam's Brightly through most of my pregnancy, but then I got diagnosed with rosacea. My doctor prescribed me Finacea 15%, and I am so happy with it! It's also a lot cheaper. 👍
Geek & Gorgeous aPAD serum contains a really interesting azelaic acid derivative and I have had a noticeable reduction in my rosacea symptoms after using 2x daily for a couple of months. Used PC AA previously, but this is just so much more affordable with a v nice texture.
On amazon, you can get a 10% azelaic acid serum by Cos de Baha. Its mosituring and is a aloe vera base. My mom, her friend, and I have noticed that skin redness and inflammation has gotten much better! Also its like $13
Great tips! This is the first video of yours I have watched, and while I loved the info, the dinging noise was so much louder than your voice that I almost couldn’t finish the video cause it was hurting my ears. I’m using headphones so that is part of it, but I am hoping that the audio isn’t so jarring on the rest of your videos. Cheers!
In the context of pigmentation and heat , should at home led masks be avoided as well during pregnancy? Also what about ipl and microcurrent home devices ???!
Dont use microcurrent devices during pregnancy, most companies that provide such devices specifically note on their website that it should not be used during pregnancy
Hi Dr. Thanks for your video. I'm 5 months pregnant and my keratosis pilaris has gotten worse on my legs and arms. Is it safe to use my amlactin 12% Lactic acid lotion?
Would you recommend a woman (33 now) who might want to get pregnant in maybe a year or two, who is still dealing with bad hormonal acne, to start Differin - or better wait a few years? I have already bought it but am scared to go through the purge phase, and then have to redo it all after pregnancy? Would you say it is good to start now and then substitute when the time comes? Would it be easier to go back to using a retinoid afterwards, or would I need to start all over again?
Hi Dr Sam, thanks for this great video! I saw you suggested neostrata sheer physical sunscreen during pregnancy in your previous videos. However, I heard that Butyloctyl Salicylate is not safe during pregnancy so that would be great if you can share your thoughts on this ingredient! Thank you!!
Hello doctor, love your channel and all of your content 🤗❤️ but I gotta tell you the bell sound is so loud 😭😅 would you please consider lowering it or replacing it with another sound? Hugs from Atlanta, USA.
Wow,I have learnt alot from you doc. Please next videos you make on skin issues when describing how they present please include other skin colors so that some of us who are not white can know how this conditions will present on our skin..eg hyperpigmentation and others that cause the skin to change colour.Thank you for the knowledge you are impacting in us.
@@DrSamBunting Just difficult to find products with azelaic acid in Canada, and there are restrictions on ordering it and bringing it into the country. Could you suggest any products?
Niacinamide can be used during pregnancy. It is also included in our moisturiser and daily sunscreen if you wish to use this active without having an extra step in your routine ❤
No thats not true. Most dermatologist would advice you to stop using any forms of vitamin A (retinol/tretinoin/accutane) at least 6 months to a full year before trying to conceive. That 6 months to a full year would be enough, would not cause any birth defects if you use retinoids as a teen; as long as you dont use it in and right before the prenancy period

Yes. Thank-you!
👍
Moisturize Twice a Day.
Exfoliate Occasionally, Not Every Day
Don't Overthink It.
Would it be risky to wear the 2% salicylic Acid masque by the ordinary? What about cerave SA cleanser?
I'd recommend azelaic acid-based products instead - and you'll get more efficacy from leave-on products.
