I will say i was surprised -‘when my rosacea was under control i could tolerate o.o25 thrice a week. Now that I’ve smashed my barrier again, I’m back to square one. But great video! Thank you
A tip for those with extremely sensitive skin that doesn't even can tolerate straight azealic acid: the Geek&Gorgeous aPad Serum. It contains a azealic acid derivate and really made a difference for me. I think it's a great start for those who can't tolerate anything.
I wish I had the possibility to see a dermatologist because it really is worsening my depression and anxiety... I barely come out of my house because I'm too embarassed of myself... I use Azelaic Acid and listen to Drs on youtube but I know without medication or treatments I won't see that much of a difference
Your's has been the most comprehensive, yet detailed and understandable Rosacea treatment option. Thank You Dr Sam! Took loads of notes and will be better versed when I see my GP and then a Derm. Rosacea now covers nearly all skin below the eyes to chin - but only AFTER breast cancer Chemo, had a perfectly clear face during chemo.??? Interesting eh?
I’m loving the Brightly serum! I ordered a bottle for my daughter and she loves it as well. She is dealing with skin darkening due to hormone changes and I am fighting milia as a result of a C02 laser procedure. We are both seeing positive changes. Thank you Dr. Sam.
I thought I had a damaged barrier, leading to redness, but I've been simply moisturizing with occlusives for nearly a month now and I am still red on nose, cheeks, and forhead.
Extremely useful! Many thanks; really grateful for your taking the time to adress this topic! It is indeed not discussed a lot. Curious however how it seems like you don't refer to azelaic acid as a treatment for rosacea flareups, but rather an ingredient to help in the management of it. Is my understanding correct that azelaic acid doesn't help much during flareups but rather in the aftermath of them?
I had difficulty following this. Perhaps it's the accent barrier. I didn't hear licorice mentioned. Do you recommend licorice root extract for skin redness?
This is so ironic, niacinamide and azelaic are two of my worst triggers (and mechanical exfoliation.) 10% niacinamide is pure hellfire on my skin, and combined with azelaic .... You can almost hear the Prodigy's "Firestarter". >< I have no issues with any AHA's, not even high strength in office peels, and 0.05% tretinoin is just a walk in the park. Diluting niacinamide down to about 5% in the evening and 2-3% in the morning works fine for me, and after i started using Apothaka's "Skin Quenching light moisturiser: urea, sodium PCA & ceramide complex" before Azelaic (Finacea 15%) is working like a charm!
I have redness and broken capillaries but my skin isn't sensitive to anything in particular. I don't get more itchiness or burning than anyone else does. My skin seems to have average thickness. Does this count as rosacea? Is couperose the same thing as rosacea?
Hi ! My skin is tolerating well Retin A 0.05 % and Azelaic acid 15% in the morning for a year now , my question can I start using both Azelaic acid and Retin A at night together?
My skin HATES hylauronic acid. Not matter how occlusive of a moisturizer i put on top of it or it's in it dehydrates my skin like crazy, and I've tried a couple different products and forms. Glycerin is so much better.
As by dr v it is very important to top up moisturizer after using hylauronic acid. Otherwise it dries up the skin. Hylauronic sucks up water, if not using fatty or good moisturizer it will suck up water from skin and that leads to dryness.
Hi yall..I have very dry/ rosacea/ seborrheic dermatitis on my face and my dermatologist has me mix in am soolantra with vaseline mixture is tsp of soolantra to 1/2 tsp of vaseline but I found it was drying my skin so I added medical grade hyaluronic acid that is formulated by my dermatologist I only add a drop then I goin in which super rich moisturizer that has alot of good ingredients also formulated by my dermatologist then sun screen tinted 50spf my skin stays hydrated...at night I use ketoconozole qith vaseline 50/ 50 but I use vitamin c cream with a drop of hyaluronic acid then ketoconozole qith vaseline 50/ 50 then super rich moisturizer with 2 drops hyaluronic acid I use retinol around my eyes...only time I can use retinol is summer and I have ro go extremely slow like once a wk for 2 wks then twice a wk for 2 wks and continue till I know how much my skin can take my derm told me that 3 times a wk is actually good enough to reap the benefits because hers products are medical grade and I start on lowest strength only use it when my skin isn't all flared up.....I feel for u ladies that suffer from rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis because it's very very tricky on how to use products I think God he lead me to a knowledgeable dermatologist who knows what to do and how to keep my skin under control ive delt qith this since 2008 and u can't tell I have rosace or seborrheic dermatitis unless I get flared up....stress is a culprit for me and with cooler weather my seborrheic dermatitis flares up at times...im 48 and I don't have no wrinkles around my eyes or on my face I also use Cerave hydrating cleasner night only splash water in morning when I cleanse my face I use cotton rounds and go gently to get of excess moisturizer and sunscreen.....Its hard thing to have skin troubles it does get depressing at times cuz I see ladies who are my age and look so amazing and can use what ever that want why we rosacea suffers have to deal with this but God helps me through it and he had healed my skin more then what it used to be its on God's time....so God bless yall

So if I use a gentle cleanser, barrier protecting mousterizer and sunscreen, BUT I also want to incorporate vitamin c and my azelaic acid into this, where do these two go in the routine? Is it cleanser -> vitamin c -> azelaic acid -> mousterizer -> sunscreen? I was told by the pharmacy tp wait 15 min before applying anything after the azelaic acid, what do you reckon?
I use azelaic acid, niacinamde, a low dose retinol and 6%mandelic acid, but have never been able to tolerate Vit C. What antioxidant can I use as an alternative? I have my redness under control, but every time I try Vit C my skin freaks out. I have both ocular and ERT rosacea, not papulopustar, so acne and bumps are not an issue.
If you have dry skin, I can greatly recommend the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum from Paula’s Choice. It is so calming, so nurturing, and contains an excellent mix of quite powerful antioxidants.
I have got what looks like two blackheads on my face. I have them investigated and they are not blackheads, they are blood vessels that have come to the surface. Can you give me an idea why this would happen and how to treat them please.
Hi Sam nice n thanks plz u just perform how to layer it one by one or which are the things can combine together ❤ I'm Photo sensitive n rosacea case pigmentation aswell irrigation. As usaud morning vit bn vit c isn't a poor combination. As well add hyaluronic acid with love heart 🧡
Love your videos! And help me to better understand why and how. In Australia Azelaic acid is only available over the counter as a medicated ceam. I can only find either non 10% AC with other acne ingredient or 20% AC. Is 20% ok or too strong? Thanks in advance!
I'm struggling to tolerate any sunscreen. The best one I've tried so far is Neostrata Sheer Physical Protection SPF 50 (based on one of your videos) but it still irritates my skin. What is the most gentle, least likely to irritate the most sensitive skin, sunscreen you recommend? Also, how do you recommend treating milia on rosacea skin?
I've got really sensitive reactive red dry skin, and flawless SPF 02 causes no issues, it's out of stock so I'm using IS Clinical SPF 50 tinted and that has minimal ingredients & is equally brilliant
I personally like Elta MD Elements (tinted version) and Colorescience mineral sunscreen spf 50 tinted. I used to use Elta MD UV Clear tinted but wanted all mineral ingredients. The Elta MD Physical one was too chalky for me but the one called Elements has been great...

Thanks for the info Dr Sam! If you're phasing in a prescription retinoid, should you keep using prescription azelaic at night or switch to just morning?
The best thing I’ve done is to stop using products. Slash your face with water in the morning, use a little Nivea or plain moisturiser and don’t do anything else! My skin tone evened out after 2-3 days of just leaving it alone. Soon as I washed it with a face wash (to remove makeup) and used serums and multiple creams, it became red again.

Thank you for this video!! Seriously! This is exactly what I've been looking for but no one talks about rosasea and antiaging

Can I just say I realized that I've been binge watching your videos for almost 3 hours now. I have learned so much. Thank you!!!!

hi there! wondering what your thoughts are on the below...something I've heard in passing and the quote I found sums up my concerns with retinol use. I've recently realized I have rosacea and your videos have been helpful!
