When I first saw this it was on a 1949 Zenith Black and White console television in a wood cabinet. The picture tube was round like an old round oscilloscope. This is an amazing color transformation. I was just age 7 when I watched this on broadcast network television. Later that year my dad purchased a new Magnavox Color Television which just came at the right time when most television shows were broadcast in color and my dad had a job working at a nearby television station.
And captain of the Titanic in "The Time Tunnel". This is also not the first time Mr. Rennie and Mr. Harris worked together. They were both in a TV version of "The Third Man".

Loved Michael Rennie I wish he had become a bigger star. Loved him in the Day the Earth Stood Still. Any chance you could colorize the scene where KLAATU is shot and Gort appears zapping the weapons, tank, howitzer, etc. I know someone said the opening credits and added new real pictures of outer space. And another where the ship arrives. I can't remember off hand if it's all the same video.

This particular show will and does bring back in memories. When I was in 3RD grade me and some other of my class mates would hang around with each other during recess and we always talked about the show, Lost in Space but there was one particular show that was my #1 favorite and it was the man with the cane, this particular show. But at school me and my (friends) would pretend that we were in the show and I was the man with the cane that put out alot of power. I would imitate him to the "T" .I seem to remember that clear as a bell.

I agree with the comment that it breeds new life into the black and white episodes. However, the black and white episodes of Lost in space should be colorized in the same way that Bewitched and other black and white episodes for programs that were later shot in color have been colorized, however, not with this program.The software being used here is not providing enough variation to make the colorization look realistic. The uniforms are not the colors that they should be. There is software and colorization that can make this look nearly real. But this does not.

Although the colors were vivid, the skin tones were way off, and most of the time, they had blue hands. Their motions were jerky, and everyone was given the same eye color. On the plus side: MICHAEL RENNE!😊

Is very interesting to watch this. I have seen it hundreds of times during my life and can quote every line. It seems to bring out a more interesting depth of shadow in the backgrounds then from the original. This is true Lost in Space as was the majority of the very first season in black-and-white. Sadly the second and third seasons were mirror fanciful shadows of what this show could have become. Still a classic.

I was 6 yrs old, I got excited when I'd hear the theme music at the begining, I didn't like Star Trek too much but I liked this one. Think it was on Tuesday night at 8:00 each week.

Did you colorise this? Because I’ve seen a few examples that look identical with the same washouts. It’s from a online colour program that can’t interpret reds very well.

I was about 5 or 6 years old when this aired on TV originally. To me it was the scariest episode there was. You have to remember back in the 60s it was much easier to scare people than it is today. We have become desensitized to violence and Gore. The seen that stands out to me is the one near the end of the first part where all the monsters are let loose and the camera shows their feet and nothing else leaving the ship. It gave me nightmares. Later episodes became cheesy and didn't even scare me back then. It became the monster of the week and almost always centered on Dr Smith and Will. Funny thing is in the beginning Dr Smith was a cold-blooded killer, not the bumbling fool that he later became. The TV station got so much hate mail about the first version of Dr Smith that people wanted him killed off. Since he was under contract they had to change him and make him likeable.

The black and white is always cool but colorized versions add depth that wasn't there in B&W.

Colorizing something meant to be B&W is a betrayal of the art itself and the vision of the producers. B&W also heightens the fear factor.

You can tell they had trouble adapting the color grading for this.
