In most of the bands you mention as all-female Japanese bands the average age is nearer 30 than teenage. Many of the bands started about 10 years ago. Many school girls take up playing music in High School. Everything from brass bands, western style orchestras, jazz bands and pop / rock bands. When they leave school / college / university some stay in the music business developing their skills. End result hundreds of excellent female musicians.
.....and exhale! 😋 Haruna (drums) only has two speeds STOP and LIGHTSPEED. And Midori (blonde) and Miyako (dark) are a two-woman shredding machine! Your reaction made my birthday - thanks. 😁
Excellent reaction! Band Maid has two songs all in English: "Don't Let Me Down" and "The Dragon Cries". I'll leave a link to both below. Fair warning: the lyrics for "Don't Let Me Down" are pretty explicit. "The Dragon Cries" has captions burned into the video. That said, I'd have to agree to disagree about lyrics making or breaking a song. One thing I've learned by getting into these J-metal bands is you can get lost in the music and the emotion conveyed in the melody without knowing the lyrics. Band Maid doesn't have any bad songs, but the ones below are not their best ones, at least in my opinion. So you're really depriving yourself of some great music. Maybe start off with those and see if you wanna go further down the "pigeon hole". Keep in mind Japan has been fans of US, British, and European bands for decades without knowing the lyrics. I figure it's their turn now. In any case, looking forward to the next reaction! Band Maid - "The Dragon Cries" - ua-cam.com/video/skEkpogsmE0/v-deo.html Band Maid - "Don't Let Me Down" - ua-cam.com/video/0YGwUhg2XNk/v-deo.html
Yes, their guitars are normal size - they are really tiny! They say that's the reason why they dress in white, so everybody can see them on stage (tip: they have a lot of humor too)! And yes, size definitly doesn't matter - they're some of the best metal guitarists/drummer/bassist presently no matter the genre. Asami, their singer, is a former r'n b/gospel/soul singer (and she was mainly a chorist - would you believe?). This song is about the magic that happen when the right persons met and form something bigger.
Here in an interview they explain their look. ua-cam.com/video/s48Jrd21qFE/v-deo.html And I don’t much care, but this band is exceptionally small. Gacharic Spin (aka Doll$Boxx when they have air raid siren Fuki) have 2members under 5’. BandMaid averages around 5’2”. But in Lovebites, the guitarist with the black Dean (Dimebag, explorerish) guitar Towers over the other 4, at 5’2” possibly the only one over 5’. The singer claims 4’10”, and the drummer is only 4’9”! If you keep your eyes open for it, it’s very clear in s few scenes of their newest video “Golden Destination” ua-cam.com/video/Hiv45KdDVno/v-deo.html This gives a clear shot of what I mean by towering 5’2” instagram.com/p/B7KTi-hFI6V/?
HAHAHA Thank You for posting, awesome video. I said Dam during the first time I heard this solo as well. Love this band. Electric Pentagram is an incredible album.
I really enjoyed y'all's reaction to this song. I appreciate you trying to introduce your wife to metal music. I try hard to keep introducing my Korean wife to metal, but she just isn't into music nearly as much as me. Asami, the lead singer, studied ballet growing up which explains here floating around like a graceful butterfly. Her background before joining this band was singing R&B and Gospel music. But she has a voice built for metal. I love the guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who effortlessly swap back and forth from lead to rhythm and back. The drummer, 4' 9" Haruna, must be an alien on speed. Miho is without fanfare playing a great bassline throughout their songs. This is just one of the many amazing songs they do. Miho and Haruna founded Lovebites and were members of the band Destrose before it broke up. I would like to suggest a couple of more bands. The first is Mary's Blood. Check out the MV for "Marionette," due to sound quality over the live vids on UA-cam. Sakis is the best metal guitarist that you will hear in Japan and she is world-class as well. The second band is Fate Gear. Like Lovebites, Fate Gear was founded by members of the now-defunct band called Destrose. Their version of Destrose's biggest hit, "Headless Goddess" is amazing. They have a steampunk theme, and mix power, symphonic, and thrash metal with just a small dose of death metal thrown in. They are a fun band.
First time I've ever listened to J Metal. And honestly, this is pretty damn nice! At first I found the singing a bit weak, but then came the Chorus, and a slight chill went through my spine. And I thought "Ah, there it is!" Sounds like this band at least, fits into the power metal genre quite well. Also, awesome to see an all female metal band. Those seem to be...rare to say the least.
🤘❤️🤘 Lovebites is great!!! I do recommend a Heavy Rock group also from Japan called Band Maid!!!! Try the song Domination live from February 14 2020. Also Don't You Tell Me live has a fantastic breakdown in the middle that further displays their skill!!! 😁🤘🤘 And Dragon Cries (recent video) is all English!!!! 😉
Not a J-Metal but a perfect song for you and your wife: Battle Beast - Black Ninja. It's a female fronted 80's-90's vibe metal band. A beautiful voice mixed with bad-assness.
Well, there are so many awsome female musicians in so many bands in Japan. I'm really not able to decide who is playing better and with a higher quality. But....I have my problems with the voice of the most singers. They have to high voices and it does not fit to the music they are making. That is one of the reasons, why I prefer Bandmaid and Mary's Blood. Miku from Bandmaid realized very soon exact this problem with her voice and good luck, they found Saiki. She has a deeper voice, although she can sing also very high, a good example is Puzzle, it shows how varied her voice is. Eye from Mary's Blood is also not that high, but she has not that variance as Saiki. Anyway, I also listen to Lovebites, Aldious and Cyntia ( sadly no more exsting, hope Yui is dong well ). The important thing is, enjoy the music you like, thank God we have such a diversity.
Big fan of Lovebites, the first and the third albums are both great. As you say most songs follow a similar formula, but they are still different enough to be enjoyable. One all female J-metal band you left out is Galmet, but they are in a slightly different genre and to be honest pretty much impossible to sing along to. Great band though, no longer active I believe.
Very good reaction, love me some J metal. For something else different metal from around the world THE HU Mongolian throat metal, not English but cool SONG wolf totem
I’m actually on the opposite side of the spectrum as rock and metal is the one genre where I often don’t bother with the lyrics, as I focus more on the instrumental melodies. Infact lyrics most times take away from my immersion as they confine my imagination to what they are talking about. This is probably why I never had any issue with Japanese rock or any other language outside English for that matter. I fell in love in my very first day and never looked back, and over the years have discovered one amazing band after the other. You might be surprised to know that Japan has the second largest music industry in the world after the US. Its just that on top of a language barrier, they also weren't promoted much outside, not even through digital/online means including the likes of youtube. Infact they have very strict copyright laws that even ban phones in concerts there and only in the recent few years have they started officially releasing their music online. The rock/metal scene is esp. huge. And while the rest of the world sees frontwomen in rock as a novelty, all female bands have been a thing there since the early 1980s. Also, thanks to their impressive concert culture many western artists and bands have managed to remain afloat through the years owing partly to the huge concerts they get to do there frequently. Japan is a paradise for rock bands moreso in today's times. Does not fit the music according to you. That's an important distinction to be made.

The music is awful but since its a metal ofc the rift , shredding and solo is awesome for a woman its. 6/10
For a woman? Misogyny much, what a dumb comment.
Haha.. u should try listen their other song
You'd better correct 'for a woman' to 'for high heels' IMO
Awful? I guess you have awful taste in music, rather.
