I like how these have been put together because I’m pretty sure Luke’s lightsaber in ROTJ was green just because they thought him having a blue one against the sky on Tattooine would’ve been hard to see back then..
Actually they didn't think that, they tested it. It's pretty hard to imagine because because digitalised versions have improved the films so much
That's the real world explanation. But as Star Wars expanded, they made up in-universe reasons. Same with Mace Windu... Samuel L Jackson just wanted a purple blade because it's his favourite colour. Lucas allowed it, and so they came up with an in-universe explanation
It was actually blue because they thought giving Luke another blue saber would confuse the viewers cause his old one was blue
And I'm pretty sure the only reason the death star had a weakness was so the rebels could blow it up.
There's a difference between cannon and behind the scenes. A lot of lore and such comes from limitations in film making.
Als he did it because he wanted to show it wasn’t just another obi wan, that Luke was very different
“Cyan is a color crystal only seen in Jedi Fallen Order.”
KOTOR 2: “Do I mean nothing to you?”
Fallen Order: Canon - KOTOR: Legends
Wasn't Luke's og saber cyan
@@pedromiguelalmeida4446 KOTOR not being canon is really sad to me but what about Jedi Power Battles?? Plo Koon has a yellow saber and that game is why I fell in love with Star Wars as a child
I recall watching a documentary, bonus material from the Phantom Menace DVD. Sam Jackson asked Lucas about light saber color. Lucas said (paraphrasing) “good guys are green or blue, bad guys are red.” Sam said “Can I have purple?”, Lucas shrugged and said “yeah we can do that”
Remember, artists make aesthetic choices.
Yeah that doesn't mean you can't give "canon" reasons for asthetics choices, specially with something like lightsabers that lore has been written, rewritten, erased and written again xD
Also fun fact sam actual lightsaber prop has engraved "bad mother f***er" in it, which i think irs fantastic
He wanted a purple lightsaber because, he wanted to know where he was on screen during any given fight scene.
Grape soda colour
5:12 "We have red, the indicator of the Sith."
*Shows Kit Fisto with a green lightsaber*
Ah yes, Kit Fisto, my favorite Sith Lord
😂
I like to think Orange might mean a great sense of loneliness, or being one of the last of one’s kind, not belonging to an order anymore. It would explain Rey and Cal, but got me stumped for Yaddle
Yaddle and yodas species seems very rare and few and far between. So that sense of loneliness could make sense for yaddle
the only legends color saber i thought was fascinating was the orange or bronze saber specifically used by Lowbacca... (chewey's son)
that one i thought was always really cool... because up until that point there was no wookie jedi...
It should also be noted that the darksaber may be stronger, since it made the beskar spear glow as if it was starting to melt, whereas Ahsoka's lightsabers didn't have that effect.
well that's the conundrum...
... there is still only speculation on exactly what is up with the dark saber...
True. Also, the mando dark saber has nothing to do with the color of the saber. Black isn’t even a crystal you can find. Black is exactly like red. The saber becomes corrupted and turns black. If red means rage, Black means despair. Whoever wielded that dark saber at one time was tormented by someone or something.
@@GeneralGouda the saber was created black by the first mandalorian, Tarre Visla
FINALLY!! a reliable guide to the meanings of all the lightsaber colors!
He does this all the time
I'd go with either blue or cyan. After hearing the descriptions of each lightsaber color, does anyone else think that a cyan crystal would have suited Anakin better? I could also see him wielding a purple one if he were more centered as a person.
The original Anakin (Luke's) lightsaber was cyan.
My favorite color is definitely amethyst. I love the idea of a force wielder like Mace Windu or Revan being able to utilize both sides of the force in balance.
When I played the Star Wars RPG, I created a character that wielding a single, violet colored blade, as a grey (maybe dark) jedi.
Just as a writer, I think it'd be fun to have the Darksaber crystal have one of two origins. First and easiest being that Tarre found it in the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore. It grew out of a beskar deposit. Second and more out there idea is that in Rogue One, it was said Stars have cores of pure kyber, and Tarre may have gotten his from a black hole.
I actually wrote a story with friends set in the old republic of Star Wars and we each made a character through who we’d do chapters and such from, mine was actually a Jedi shadow with a yellow double saber (the first of his kind actually, so perhaps the first and POSSIBLY the only to naturally imbue a kyber with a yellow color). It’s such a cool and unique type of Jedi and I love seeing them get more love and popularity/exposure.
I love this
The Yellow Lightsaber 💛 is rather mysterious yet exciting and stands out the most, from other colors of Lightsabers. Are you going to sell your Jedi Shadow stories, in publication, or will it stay private amongst you & your friends?
My Darksaber theory is that the crystal is some form of Dark Matter, perhaps condensed over time in a Black Hole in the Maw-Cluster. then harvested by useing the Force to collaps the Black Hole back in on it's self. thus makeing the Maw-Cluster even more dangerus than it was.
That's Live.
I get that KOTOR is Legends, but it has such a great variety of lightsaber colours. You pick your class, either Guardian, Sentinel, or Consular, and the starting crystal colour is based on that. So in the times of the Old Republic, Jedi would typically have either green, blue, or yellow, yellow being more common than it was at the time if the films.
Legends: lightsaber colors vary based on what kind of crystal you choose with many crystals having special effects along with rare colors
Canon: mood ring
I still like the idea of an extra ornery Sentinel turning a yellow saber a touch orange as they imprint on it. Like a natural wood flame color.
I've always theorized that The Dark Sabre was made with lost technology. It looks diffrent, works diffrent, and even behaves diffrent than both Jedi and Sith weapons. Maybe since it was made on Mandalor during The Old Republic there was a unique material that only they knew about used. Maybe there's not even a Kyber Crystal in it and it instead has some kind of crystalized beskar for its core.
Crystallized beskar is such a badass theory for the darksaber's crystal dude
This was actually really cool. I love it when there's even just a little bit more info able to be learned in this universe. And that can especially go for when it comes to anything connected to lightsaber lore.
Me: Explaining all the different colors of lightsabers and what they mean.
My sister: Yeah, but is there any pink ones?
Darth Vader's lightsabers similar to Anakin's in terms of design, but if you look closely it's like a mirror design. The way it's arranged is like exactly on the opposite side to the way it's arranged on anakins and it's designed to be smaller and more compact version of it
Great video! Thanks for this! I personally like the blue, cyan, and amethyst blades.
This man knows more of star wars then probably George Lucas himself
Cool video, just so you know, Cyan is pronounced “Sigh-yan” not “Ki-an” ❤️ Keep up the great work!
It’s pronounced differently in different accents and languages my guy.
I choose to believe it was just a Kyber + Cyan pun :P
Personally, I would go with for a cyan crystal, but one with a more greenish hue. But lore wise, I would like of it to be my second as my character explores the galaxy and becomes wiser and more connetced to it
Would love to see one reviewing all colors in existing in legends as well, that would be awesome
I didn't know that pink lightsabres had made it into Disney Star Wars, so yay for learning something 😀
I'm a big fan of dual-wielding; one pink, one purple.
Before Disney, the Sith made their red blades by growing a synthetic crystal in a geological compression furnace - insert carbon, start the furnace, meditate on the Force and the crystal to attune it. Takes about a day and defaults to red. Growing a synthetic crystal of other colours was a bit more difficult, but still perfectly possible. In 'Shadows of the Empire' Luke uses a compression furnace to make a synthetic green crystal, while much later in the Legacy comics, the Imperial Knights make synthetic white crystals.
If memory serves, naturally occurring red crystals were pretty much limited to pieces of the Kaiburr Crystal from Mimban (in 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye' ) or harvested from kinrath eggs on Dantooine (in KotOR1)
fire, thank you for this video 💪
Loved this updated video
I always thought of the orange lightsaber as representing the wielder finding an offensive balance in the light side of the force using the light to enact righteous judgement on their enemies without intent to kill. Evidence being yadle using a unique force ability to slow the vitals of an opponent and plo koon using the ability conveniently named force judgement, light side force lightning
The color of the crystal is important, as they note, in KotOR and SWTOR, what they add to the lightsaber. In KotOR, I preferred dual wielding single blades. In the primary hand, that was the attack Saber. In the off hand was defense. In SWTOR, it is based on class. The crystal can be any color, and exactly what you need. Need a bit of mastery? This one will work. Crit? This other one. Endurance? That one there. The color can be across the spectrum, and even have two colors. I like the purple/black myself. It wasn't until Phantom Menace that crystals had a lot of meaning. The blue was good for indoor use, because the green screen didn't wash it out. The green wasn't supposed to be used in RotJ, but because the blue was being washed out by the sky, George made it green.
I like to think that senubai (if thats how you spell it probably not lol) got his white crystal from healing eiher his former teachers crystal or one of his former padawans, maybe they got too close to the darkside and started following the way of the sith and blead their crystal, after he defeated them he healed the crystal and kept it as his main lightsaber maybe something happened to his original one during the battle. It would be awesome to see in a comic or animation.
So I did do some research with orange and I love the legends explanation which has two meanings one being that one is kind hearted the other is that of a crystal that was once red has been healed and changes from red to orange
Love the video! Did they ever give any lore reasons for Viridian or Bronze lightsabers? Or did they just leave it at, "more colors for KotOR II?"
Yes please do the legends version cause I know it’s gotta have plenty of crazy colors
I'd probably want a darksaber crystal, but I'd want something more on par with a proper longsword. Partly because it, and the speculated values attached to it, remind me of the Emperor's Champion of 40k, but I also like Mando culture and history, and have more of a background with longswords than most other actual weapons. Preferably a crossguard as well so I can actually make use of deflectional parries without excessively risking my hands.
Yesss please make a list of legends lightsaber colors
the Dark Saber is hands down the coolest still
got one for my lil girl, she loves it
This is a fantastic analysis within an interesting and fun video. my favourite colour and concept is black. the darksaber to me is the most interesting of all. However every time I do a lightsaber colour test I answer all questions as honestly as I can with what im given. I get perple every time. I hope this speaks of my nature in reality but how really knows. I would love to see a video on legends lightsaber colour. I would suggest anyone take a light saber colour test as it really is fun if nothing else. My sweet wife, a Chinese chef who has virtually no intrest in star wars took one of the tests with me and got the pale blue colour. I told her it was a rare colour and she love the meaning as presented by the particular test she took. Now she thinks she is all powerful. She has a small blue toy lightsaber ever time we disagree she grabs it as I go for my black series darksaber we clash blades the she force pushes me back and force grabs my blade and runs me through with it. ha ha I think she pays more attention to star wars than she lets on. Well have a great day and can't wait to see what's in the next holocron. take care from Helcat.
While I'm very fond of my SWTOR black and yellow crystal, I think it'd be neat to have a double yellow lightsaber with a hilt made from obsidian or some other black stone.
it's sai-an cyan, i mean soft c not a "k" sound
I want the legends crystals to be added to the archives for knowledge that is unknown is a weakness and will allow for one to be surprised.
i made my first lightsaber at savis workshop last thursday sep 28th and i got the protection and defence hilt and i purchased a yellow cristal
and i got the purple one that they give you the chance to choose in case you havent purchased you own at the store
I personally would pick Indigo as I find it the most relatable to myself. And as far as I know, it has never been seen before in Star Wars until Jedi: Fallen Order.
This guy is a master of making videos he's already made......over and over
I'd go with either a silver or white kyber crystal in a light saber or the dark star saber but then there's the crystals that enhances the force abilities and gives light sabers different properties.
One of my favorite crystals is the krait dragon pearls.
is that still canon?
@@pedromiguelalmeida4446 I'm not sure but the krait dragon pearls ate featured in Star Wars Knights of the old republic.
@@jclowe735 sure, I agree and I even like it more as explained in legends. But still it's extended universe, not canon
Yes, I would certainly like that video; you should also create an avatar UA-cam channel called avatar The last Airbender explained.
NGL I would love to see the Legends colour lightsabers covered in a similar fashion :D
It’s probably a good sign that I’m already forgetting the Sequel Trilogy, and I could be wrong, but didn’t Rey end up with a Yellow lightsaber made from her staff at the very end of the final movie? If so no mention of Rey using Yellow. Come to think of it, there was no mention of any sequel character. Maybe that was intentional…🤔.
yes, is yellow. but mixed with orange, imo. it's not the same shade of yellow like the ones used on sentinels spikes and lightsabers
🔥 video
So Cool
The darksaber represents honor and duty… yeah I can get behind that.
Also theory: what if the crystal itself is crystalized Beskar.
Yes legends lightsaber video
I’ve heard of a special kyber crystal that made light sabers that only stun - it was one that had to be found in a different place. Does it have different colors or just one?
just a thought for orange, it could be that it was a red crystal that was only partially healed
I'm a mix between blue and green. I'm a sword fighter at heart, but I also love to try to keep the peace. So, I probably would wield a blue lightsaber and a green lightsaber. Plus, I love to dual-wield.
Yellow for sure gotta be the coolest one, it’s the one I chose in Fallen Order as well
Can u please do a video on all star wars metals in cannon and legends
I think orange is someone who was connecting to a yellow crystal but still had the dark side in them slightly corrupting it and would lead to it being passed down like the yellow today and that would be why yaddle had it cause it may have been passed down or ploo Kun may have got his from a crystal in his planet
I think its similar but just when a user fails to convert it to a red crystal so orange acts as a halfway between crystal. Also meaning its not natural just like red or dark saber
@@novasky2046 fair enough the plookun thing could also be right cause the storms were powerful on there so the storm could of effected maybe any little amount of kyber crystals there
about Red Lightsabers, I prefer the ''Legends'' one, it makes more interesting, a Sith creating his own Synthetic Lightsaber, thta they believe to be more powerfull
but they should have made that both cases exists, some Sith could choose to ''Bleed'' a Jedi lightsaber, others create symthetic ones using ''Alchemy'', that would make Red Lightsabers have at least some diversity instead of just 1 kind, since Jedi have multiple options... the first Dark Jedi for example, could have made their Lightsabers Bleed by ''Accident'', discovering that new kind of Lightsaber, them after their exile, and meeting Pureblood Sith they would learn to create Synthetic Lightsabers too, since they would not have access to new crystals, and to have more soldiers/Sith warriors they would need that, leaving 2 ways to have Red Lightsabers in Canon
Legends saber color video FTW
Purple 👍 thank you 💓 😊
Hell yes, give us a non-cannon list!
I think why green and blue light Saber are the go to is because of the fact most crystals are from ilum where the time of yellow pink and orange are from dantoine
Please do the legends list for the meaning of lightsaber colors
I vote for a Legends color saber video as well please
The pink light-sabre warns of danger. If you are walking around with your light-sabre on, wouldn’t that be redundant ? This kind of reminds me of the Robot Chicken episode that made of Spider-Man’s “Spidey-sense” that went off for everything…
I've made a green, it spoke to me lol I want orange next. Love master Plo
Yes please make the non canon colors
I've heard one theory for Yellow. the Yellow blame is a result of Jedi being more in touch with the galaxy and its people and perhaps as a result of them having more attachments that the modern era Jedi never allowed hence why they don't ever seem to produce a modern yellow blade, which explain also why Rey's at the end of TROS is yellow because she has attachments and is dedicated to her friends and loved ones. Also with the blade of the Darksaber, could it be the result of a rare crystal found only on Mandolore or the fact that a Mandolorian is the one that imbued it, the mindset of a Mandolorian is quite different to most after all. or perhaps its a result of the Mandolorian Iron that makes up the hilt of the saber itself.
It's funny how Dave filoni added the yellow even tho it's been around for years in star wars games like Kotor and Jedi knight but that's probably where he got it from👍. My fav color of lightsaber is viridian which is yellow green 👌
like ashoka's shoto lightsaber? love it
I chose green and white! (When I was at disneyland but they fit my personality)
I remember watching this channel when I was like 8. Good times.
PURPLE.
edit: dark saber as well.
I love the black saber
What about black sabers like starkiller can use in force unleashed or that you can see of the teaser cover of high republic
Star wars is way more lore heavy than I ever could have thought
Mace window likes them grape lollipops 💀
I would love the ledgend colour break down

Absolute legend
Orange was offered in KOTOR 2 when you’re talking to Atton when he asks why you don’t have your lightsaber anymore while traveling from Paragsis to Telos
This man rlly said kaiyan
One color that wasn’t mentioned was Bronze. Freddon Nadd wielded this color.
Finally
Pink or White. In KOTOR 2 I used the white one as soon as I could get it and it looked awesome.
Orange is an awsome color for a light saber
I’d have the cyan in the form of the permafrost crystal
I would love to have a black crystal that gives off a blue glow (think “black lightning”)
Do all legends light saber Color please
The light saber colors I would choose are blue, green, yellow, purple, orange, and white. I’d only use 2 at a time though (likely purple and yellow).
I would use green just like my favorite Jedi master Qui-Gon-Jinn.
Finally, something that’s better in canon than in legends in my opinion
I have always liked Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber hilt and blue blade. Since blue is my favorite color, I would hope that I could turn my kyber crystal blue.
The Blue Lightsaber Blade Was Used By Jedi Guardians And Usually Represented Advanced Force Users
@Cosmic what
I feel like there should be a color representing playfulness, innocence, or naivety, or perhaps chaos on the more extreme side. Perhaps someone that fits in line with neither dark nor light side, but just "is". Like an uninformed child, they just "do things" without understanding the consequences of their actions. They dont have a reason for why they do what they do.
i think white is my favorite saber color. but i find orange to be the most interesting most likely due to its obscurity.
Cyan- pronounced Si-ann. I manufacture toner. Cayenne is a pepper.
I thought Yellow Sabers meant there was a Balance in the force, and ones who weld the Yellow sabers are the ones who brought Balance to the force and Galaxy.
another thing i thought what should have been really cool would be for sabers to shift between two or more colors... or even phase between colors or even all the colors in any timing... like a rainbow shift type effect.
Hmm if there is a more internal turmoil with a person, where their heart isn't set on their own ideals yet and what kind of person they are, it's very possible that a blade could shift between 2 colours. "The seventh jedi" episode in the star wars visions TV show shows a former jedi who had been corrupted by the dark/fallen jedi around him had a red blade, but when fighting against a new apprentice he had a turn of heart and it showed his conflict by turning his lightsaber more and more purple as he settled on changing sides and no longer being an enemy. I thought it was very good how they showed imprinting on lightsabers in that episode.
@@spartan1347981 well what im talking about specifically is a color filter lens shifter of some type that would allow a lightsaber user to have more of a mechanical technology of some sort that the color could be adjusted on the saber itself.
for instance a devious use for this would be if a Sith (which notoriously uses red saber colors to change the color to blue or green to have some non force sensitives to appear to be jedi as a method of infiltration, or if there is a video hologram being recorded, could have it appear to have the look of a jedi, but in reality they are sith... or vice versa...
that would be one useful function, but just being able to change your color at will or have a cycle of rhythmic colors to just look cool.
@@ZenRyoku hmm it could be handy, but the colour is determined by the bond between the crystal and the user influenced by the force, its not something you can just "change the colour of" even mechanically. There was a sith who had a lightsaber with 2 crystals in, 1 red and one blue, and could switch between them through different ends of the sabers hilt, allowing him to go undetected in the jedi order as the sith lord they were searching for, for a time. Or maybe some form of mechanical switch or access port to easily change which kyber crystal is being used in the saver hilt could be made? Other than that I very much doubt it's possible to obscure or change the colour of the blade that's produced by the kyber crystal
@@spartan1347981 yes thank you for that. i am fully aware of how saber colors are formed...
but what im talking about is a possible lens of some type that could be theoretically installed that much like a light prism could in fact change the color of a saber based on the frequency of the light emitted itself.. and it wouldn't even be that difficult to perform... you could i suppose just take an already formed color crystal and shape and smooth it to the point where it would change the spectrum of light that appears when the saber is ignited...
... you could even go as far to fabricate a lens that is not made of kyber crystal to achieve this effect.
@@spartan1347981 any color that is within the visible color spectrum can in fact be changed to project a different spectrum frequency of light with little ill effect
In one iteration the orange was called fools kyber.
