Mate have to say your video's are bloody amazing. I've been following for a year or so now and I always love watching a new episode. I love how much your project has not only enriched yours and your families lives, but also so much wildlife has been supported and is thriving because of your efforts! Well done, and congratulations on the new member to your family! My only request is that you keep making videos for the rest of your life, because with all these trees you've been planting and extra work your doing, I really, really want to see what this place looks like in 20-30 years!!!! It's going to be paradise! Cheers from across the Pacific.

These kind of habitat projects are CRITICAL and I’ve seen more and more of them on UA-cam and it’s just so heartening. We need to restore places like this to help bring back entire native ecosystems in the world, and every time I see them flourish it’s emotional 🥲

Big congrats on the new addition to the family! I don't know if you're already taking into consideration with the prawn pond, but you're definitely going to want to take measures to keep those raccoon from gaining access! There's nothing those little bandits like better than a captive all-you-can eat shellfish dinner! One of the best ways is to dig the sides of your pond straight down to your five foot depth, because although they'll swim and even swim down a bit, they won't go deep diving after vey expensive bait!

That is a very good point!
I have had an uncountable amount of Raccoon sabotage to my crawfish traps I have set last year. Every few days I would go check up on the traps and there were very blatant signs of theft from these pesky intruders.
I'm sure BamaBass has some ideas to combat this and I am excited to hear what awesome plans he has in mind.

yeah didn't look like Clyde's Cove was doing too much so it's time for another run at the pond experts! I know they're sensationally busy but can't wait till they make it back out here to Crimson Oaks for the next pond build. I wonder if he's gonna keep shad in with the shrimp? would be nice in emergency situations in case their numbers get low he'd have that to restock it but these are just ideas I'm sure the pond experts will answer all our questions when they arrive 😎

Why not plant wildflowers, long grasses or shrubs instead of sod to help with future erosion issues? I bet that would have the added affect of attracting even more kinds of wildlife . IMO it would look better than plain old grass as well. If that would cause a access issue there's nothing stopping you from just mowing walking paths, or only planting in areas vulnerable to erosion

  • @duck-fil-a3606
    @duck-fil-a3606 Рік тому +1

Did I hear you say that the location of the new pond is where all your natural drainage/ inflow comes into the main pond? If so, that new pond will fill up quickly and either overtop or route around the new dam you just built.
Just be aware of that fact because the #1 way to fail/breach an earthen dam is by overtopping. It may not happen right off the bat, but you would be better off putting in an armored overflow spillway from your new pond into your old pond to keep from having that issue or to at least control the erosion when it happens.

Could you plant some fruit trees, they will be eaten by the animals, but I am reasonably sure they will leave you some for you and your family, maybe, I have no idea what type of fruits you can grow at the pond but I think the raccoons will love them have them spread wide apart so they don't just go from tree to tree, thank you.

Wonderful to see - I follow your pond progress with great interest, Congratulations on the arrival of son 'n heir and trust both he and Mom are doing well. It's so great to see cutie-pie Sierra being the proud big sister - and I especially liked her jump-on-the-shovel tactics to get the optimal amount of mud collected. So very cute! 🥰🥰

@Bamabass would you consider adding a bank to the pond? Maybe sand, gravel, or stones or large stones in some areas?

I feel like we are part of the extended family, congrats and many blessings to mom and baby Oliver.
The new pond is the perfect "plunge pool". Be ready to be dredging it regularly as it will collect quit a bit of sediment from the first flush of rainwater.

Your tree hole inspector did an amazing Job. Most would never actually get in the hole to make sure...She deserves a raise...then a new hard hat, safety vest and clip board.😊😊

I think the raccoons are going to devastate your prawn population when you start the new pond. I don't know how you may want to deter them

You could put a door on the duck house that has a solar door that opens during the light and closes at dark. They make them for chicken coops

The hawks you were unsure of are red shouldered hawks their diet is mainly small mammels and snakes.
