When you drain water from the water heater and then refill it, any debris or buildup on the bottom gets stirred up. So you usually get some cloudy water.
I installed a new water heater and black water came out of the taps. When the water pressure is turned back on, the air in the pipes shakes them, loosening the deposits in the pipes. It does not come from the water heater. Any deposits are on the bottom of the tank and would not get washed up to the hot outlet.
What do you do if the basement ceiling is not tall enough and will not give enough clearance to remove the old anode rod?

Hi, they have a dedicated ground wire going to a tank screw for grounding.

Yes when ever you stir things around inside that water heater it will kick up settled sediment off the bottom of the heater it’s normal
