As a Shiva worshipper and Indian Hindu, this is one of, if not, the best portrayals of Shiva I have ever seen. His voice actor is perfect and his design is incredible.
Im an atheist from Brazil, but I love mythologies, and Hinduism is one of my favorites, and of course Shiva is the one I admire the most, althought not being a believer. And I was so eager to see Shiva in this game, and I was so happy to see how spot on the devs managed to depic the great Shiva, in both the most respectable way possible and also in the best representation possible. He looks absolutely incredible! As he should be.

For the visual aspect, that is almost exactly how Shiva looks in Hindu mythology in ancient drawings and scriptures.
I still genuinely think Shiva is one of if not the best designed character in all it Smite, in terms of thematic and visual appearance, and the sheer amount of extra thought and attention to detail put into his conceptualization.

They had to be very careful with Shiva. This is probably the biggest god Smite will ever have in its roster aside from Brahma and Vishnu. Maybe hopefully we’ll get The Buddha and Jesus Christ but until then this is as big as it gets.
After using him for a full day yesterday, i can say that this god is extremely fun, literally unstoppable in his ultimate especially when a cthulhu runs alongside you

I’ve already got ptsd from him in shin megami tensei 5 but I’m glad to see him in smite. He’s one of the greatest and most worshiped gods in Hinduism and definitely deserves a spot

@@smilehaver No, nothing like that, although I have heard that of those from the Indian community did had an issue with that (I mean he is one of their primary gods so its understandable) But the reason for the ptsd he's mentioning it's because (Spoiler warning):
He is one of the most difficult boss in the game you fight at around the late game (like around lvl 90+), he's capable of one shoting you, healing himself, debuffing your entire party and summoning high lvl enemies at his side just to add salt to injury.
@@smilehaver because he’s the hardest boss in the game and can obliterate you in mere moments if you’re not extremely careful. He summon allies, heal himself, and use his social move that does massive damage and reduce your defense to 0
I havent played smite in years but damn this God’s reveal video is so badass! So elegant and respected by the other Gods even tiamat had to put her anger away
I only recently came across Smite and it looks like a really fun game, all the the lore stuff is right up my alley, this reveal looks amazing. It's just a shame it's near on impossible to get games in OCE because I feel like I would really enjoy it :(

@@keni7566 No as in the issue is that nobody plays on the OCE servers and the best ping I've gotten to anywhere else is about 240 to NA West which just feels unplayable
@@mattnorris7124 Ah, I see, my bad. Then I don't know what you could do. I had to play with huge ping issues for a long while so I kinda adapted, but I can't expect anyone else to do it too. Hopefully you find a solution though.

My Favourite God. Would have loved to see the Shiva's Third Eye opening ability; which can destroy any enemy infront of him.

The Third Eye could have been his ultimate ability and maybe they could have kept it fixed in one direction once activated like Jenos from Paladins

He seems quite well balanced, but I feel like his 3rd eye should have been incorporated into the game somehow. Either as a passive, or ability, or even an ultimate. Still seems like a good character nonetheless

@@kooochie I think the third eye would be a good relic instead, acting like a combination of Ra’s and Janus’s ults. It’s be like a charging, hyper precise, instantaneous moving, map crossing beam of power that ignites the ground it passes over to deal a true damage blow to enemy gods current health, crippling them on direct contact. Like a bulked up but harder to use sunder.
One branching upgrade could make a massive explosion on impact that stuns and blinds enemy gods directly hit (along with a deafening roar for anyone with headphones) and damages and trembles enemy gods in a 60 meter radius, while leaving a blazing wasteland in the blast zone that deals low but persistent damage in its wake until it expires. Think like a combustion bender from the _Avatar_ cartoons.
The other upgrade makes the beam ignore walls and other obstructions utterly and it marks all enemy gods hit. Marked enemies are revealed for a duration (even when stealthed), you and allies move faster in the direction of marked enemies, and killing them while revealed recharges ability and relic cooldowns by a few seconds, while this upgrade itself already has a faster recharge and or an extra charge compared its more blatantly destructive counterpart.
Shiva's third eye would crash the game.
They will have to use Shiva 3 eye ultimate move which can erase anything Unpure in it's existence

The Third eye opening would have been a great addition to God Shiva. In mythology it turns enemies into ashes. Although for sure that would take the fun out of game.

@@AyushSharma-jw3kr Not limited to Hinduism, stories of religions change as they are passed down generations. May be great people like Lord Ram and Lord Shiva must have lived during their time, but some parts of their stories must have additions and deduction over the years.
I suggest you learn more about Hinduism and not be limited to Grandma stories. You'll get to mature as an individual and appreciate this beautiful religion than this blind faith.

He has a great design. I actually don't like the passive on him, the rest of the abilities are great. To me that passive seems like it would have been better on a stance-switcher where you have more control on the added effects rather than having a gauge that you have to manage and possible lose any advantage mid fight. Its not bad but it seems more geared toward upper levels of play.
maybe as they slowly nerf him they will hit a point where they will need to make it a switch if they did it rn it would be to op with his kit
@@Galahime His kit is already a little OP even without the added effects from the passive. He has an area Vortex, cone damage with Knock-up potential, and a Double Dash with Damage mitigations. I don't see him becoming a full stance-switcher(maybe do something like Achilles) but I could see him get a different passive and some of the added effects being just standard part of the ability. That passive just seems like something you should have more control over and not have to worry about managing all the time.
@@jettblade yea i know you're average player like me will just end up losing the CC/heal when I want it. But at the same time I think if they really wanted him to be a healer type they'd have made him more like Hel, so I think this is there way of nerfing his ally support. I do think he's cool though and the fact they made him more aggro makes sense he'd be a warrior but he leans pretty heavily towards guardian too me which is a lil scary especially with the current meta being so hybridized. Who knows maybe its easier to manage than we think
I'd be happy if they made more gods geared toward better players. There's over a hundred gods to choose from and a few high skill high reward gods don't hurt the game.
@@xKyanite An issue is if you have a god that only top-tier players can play like Yemoja, Persephone, or Freya. You get to the point where they are impossible to balance: either they are overpowered or utterly worthless with little in-between. I do agree that there needs some variance in skill level with gods but having ones that only work at the highest level is a bad design. Shiva overall is kind of a bridge, Most of his skills are easy to learn having a low skill floor but that passive gives him a high ceiling. He will be easy to play but hard to master, which is not a bad design.

Fun fact, in Hindu mythology, Ganesha is Shiva's son. Parvati is Ganesha's mother and Shiva's wife. One day, Parvati asked Ganesh to guard her while she was taking a bath. Shiva was out doing stuff and came back to parvati to see her but Ganesha was in the way and wouldn't let him through to see Parvati. In a fit of rage, Shiva cut Ganesha's head off. This made parvati very angry and upset so Shiva went out and obtained the head of an elephant and put it on Ganesh. That's why Ganesha has an Elephant head. I believe there are other interpretations too

Let me add one more thing.. ganesh is son of shiva and parathi, but there is one more thing u don't know, he is not the biological son . shiva didn't even know ganesh was his son before he cut ganesh head. The reality is Ganesh was born by parathi devi herself , devi use chandana( sandle powder her body before bath and making a idol of boy with this powder it contains her sweat also then this idol become a human boy that is ganesh. Then she said to ganesh she is going for a bath never let anyone into Kailsah (Home), that time shiva and his bhooth gana came there , shiva try to get in his home but ganesh stop him and make a counter attack. Chandra(male):- the moon
Durga:- a normal version of kali
Karuda( a humanoid eagle):- the seeker and protector

If he had third eye ability in game then I think that it would be same type as thanatos's ultimate that executes enemies. Difference is that, instead of killing them, it turns them into ashes like how Medusa turns enemies into stone when she kills them with her ultimate.
I don't play this game, but this video popped up in my recommended and I figured I'd watch it. Gotta say, I love how much care they seemed to have showed lord Shiva here.

This design looks insanely well done, the lore behind him makes him look like the strongest god in smite by a light year which I just love.
I was hoping that his "Ulti" would be the "Deva Loka", I know that many will understand why, and to a certain extent we had it at least in concept, with his "dance to the sound of the universe".

I'm eyeballing maining him. Great jungle potential and kill securing. His pull and poke is terrific while his dash has a lotta application. Flexible tools for solo and team fighting. His ult is great for winning team fights. Really hoping we get some killer skins.

Hirez will never fix the programming problems with this game, they are too invested in skins.
Let's say they have X amount of money, they will invest 60% of that into the design team and then the other 40% gets spread out between the programming team, merch team, ad revenues, taxes, etc.
