How does one go about ordering the custom Bandits? Discount Tire is a US Mag distributor in my area, but they have absolutely no clue as to what i'm talking about when I inquired about ordering custom offset wheels. I used a Verified Fabrication Wheel Off-Set Calculating Tool to figure out my requirements on my '67 GTO with narrowed currie rear... thanks
I didn't know this tool existed; thanks, this is exactly what you need when your working with a 59 GMC truck with a 78 Camaro front end and a 97 Camaro rear diff.
That's Awesome! I almost didn't make it... there were so many things that had to happen in a short amount of time. Yes, I video'd it... it's crazy. Did we meet? (Sorry, it was a long week) See ya!
@@FastMontydidn’t get a chance to meet you unfortunately. I followed along on the Road 2 Reno posts and decided to come check it out. Looks like it was an amazing road trip to Reno. Your mini tub looks great!
@@joeholland4131 Thanks Joe! Yeah, couldn't be happier with the FAT tires. Glad you made it to see us... bummer we didn't get to meet. Saturday was my first chance to "relax" so, I was watching the Olympic Basketball team, pool side. ha, ha... Next time!
This is why I prefer to work with offset rather than backspacing. Offset is measured from the center, so there's no ambiguity. When I order custom wheels, I always specify offset and let the wheel manufacturer figure out what that means for backspacing on their specific wheels
I might be misunderstanding an already confusing situation. But from your video I gather what your saying Is that backspacing is measured from the inside of the rim where the tire bead rests, or whats called the bead seat not the outer edge. Yet Race Star wheels, Weld and Mickey Thompson all say that Its measured from the outer most edge. Which is It? I mean It's 1/2" difference from one to the other. That could make or break the Install? Or am I misunderstanding your explanation? ua-cam.com/video/n96lE8jdMlQ/v-deo.html
yeah, it's a confusing subject. And, thankfully, yes, you're confusing things. :) Backspacing is measured from the OUTSIDE lip, just like all the wheel companies like. I was saying that the Measured Wheel width is the inside measurement between lips. So, if you order a 12" wide wheel... it's actually 12 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 13" from outside edge to outside edge. In this video I noted that the tool does NOT mimic the outside edge correctly, so you have to adjust for it. Hope that helps!

@@jeffreysobeck3309 Hey Jeffrery, yeah, that's frustrating. I'll reach out to my US Mag contact and find out your options. Give me a few days...
Great job with this video.

Nice build ... yeah, this tool is super helpful. Thanks for the comment!
Good video Mike. Thank you! I got to see your car last Saturday at GSR. Car looks absolutely amazing!

Great info to give the average car person comfort to do it themselves
Thanks Chris!
Nice video Mike. I was considering getting one of those tools when the time comes.
Thanks Mike! It absolutely works, as long as you add the extra 1/4" to the backspacing, as discussed. Thanks!
can you change the offset measurements of the wheel with this tool?
Once a wheel is manufactured, you can not change the offset. Unless you shave the mounting pad. Not sure if that's what you're asking?
I almost bought that very tool.
You still can... ha, ha... thanks Brother!

Yeah, depends on the wheel manufacturer too. Thanks for the comment!
Thats how I like to do it also!! 👍
@@hybridmusclegarage4590 Yep, more than one way to skin a cat, right? ha, ha... thanks for the comment!
Im confused as to why they make this cool laser cut tool and we can use any of the laser etched measurements on the tool. What am i missing?
That's my point, you need to measure it the way I did to verify everything. Don't just blindly trust the measurements on the tool. Have fun!
