Hey guy's. I've been a working drummer for about 40 years and I just want to say that the most important thing a musician can do is listen to the musicians in their band. This guy is NOT listening to his band. I find it incredible that he even remembers the arrangements while putting on this show. That being said, ZOLTAN is AMAZING!
It's a shame that some of you don't get what's going on in this video. I've never heard of Zoltan before today, but from what I see here he's a solid drummer who is showing off a little bit. And honestly doing a damn good job at it.
My problem with this is that he isn't playing anything hard.... like, at all. I show all these kinds of beats to students who haven't even been playing the drums for 3 months and they can play them. How does this guy practice.. or better yet, what does he practice? that's why i love Mangini, practices 5 hors a day or more, and can play some of the craziest shit ever. His time spent practicing and not jumping around has shown through his skills of playing. This dude probably don't even know 7/8.
There needs to be more showmanship in music, but a drummer needs to pick and choose the right place. Heaven and Hell is such a GROOVE orientated song with the bass especially locking in to the groove, that doing showmanship on this cover just doesn't work. Showmanship should NOT take away from the drum playing and if this dude thinks the other way around, he's wrong. Play the parts with feel and accuracy and then throw a stick or two in the air....I guess??
No doubt that he has talent, but all the flash is overkill. It sounds nowhere near as good as Bill.Ward,Vinny Appice, or Cozy Powell playing it. Feel has to count for something. All that cymbal swatting leaves me cold.
The man is perfect! I'm 50 years old, I've been around, and I'm telling anyone who makes a snide remark to kiss the man where the son don't shine!
Right on Mike, thanks for sharing this, dude is sick!!

5% drumming, 95% acrobatics
yes, he probably doesn't know 7/8 but he makes a lot more money out of drumming than some of us
Seems like he has taken a few moves out of Steve Moore's book
Ronnie james dio have to be very proud in helleaven
But an intelligent conversation is way better than babytalk.
what band is this with?!
The dude's having an epileptic fit behind that kit and nobody went to save him? Rude.
i like him better with Slaughter .. seems weird playing that way on Ronnie's songs

MEnTAL
Why is that important? Flashy beats would kill this song...you should play what fits the song. Right?

this makes "drummer at the wrong gig" look like an amateur....

The flash is what makes it!
Drum-abuse.
