Sponsors pay most of the bills and that is even starting to fade away. Which is why Supercross riders are starting UA-cam channels. Buttery Films is not even a racer just an average free-rider and has made millions on UA-cam. You don't need millions of subscribers. You just need 10 to 15k subs who are loyal and willing to buy merch and spend money on ads. Many Supercross & Motocross riders are making it that way. A bunch of Enduro guys are getting rich doing the same. Patron if the 3 dollars a month fee and 10 k members that is 30k a month.
Phil said truth about real prize money in SX events … ask Roczen or Dungey about money in general earned in SX or MX. They won’t tell any money value ever because - Different riders, different levels, different sponsorships. Btw, all of them mentioned are my favourites 😅

With the rise of WSX & before the creation of SMX I was hoping somebody could race AMA SX & if the calendars aligned then they can race WSX. while those who race MXGP would be able to also raise AMA/MX. So we would have 4 series to come together as two overall series Motocross & Supercross. We would have specialists who focused on only Supercross or only Motocross. Because they're World series you could have MXGP racing in warmer climates places like Australia when it's winter in the US & vice versa

Racing is not a poor man’s sport. You have to be more than a racer to be a multimillionaire with supercross. You have to be a personality. It’s why guys like James Stewart and Dungey made a good bag.
It’s disgusting and pitiful how little these guys get paid!!!! The fact that they have to pay entry fees is an absolute INSULT!!! They should get start money at every round commensurate with their popularity/fame/experience.

Two things need to be fixed ASAP: 1, riders, especially privateers, need to be able to sell their merchandise. This is insanity. 2, purse money is way, way too low. I'm tired of explaining to people who don't know the support that, "yea, the purse money is stupid low, but they get these bonuses!" Let's have the companies issuing bonuses, pool at least a portion of that money, and use it for purse money.

Think.. top football QB’s are signing 100M contracts. SX riders signing for Pennie’s in comparison. Insane!
So who gets my coin? I am aware of stupid junk fees attached to purchase of ticket.
In Europe it’s that bad that not the talented kids getting a ride.. it’s the kids with money..
Making stuff like mxon for 65-85cc and Guess who is riding there.. the kids they can afford that trip..
But it’s probably everywhere the same to a degree..
Other problem for Germany(my home) it’s car nation.. and kids got compulsory schooling..
And it seems you have no option to be a factory guy you need that home schooling to ride all day.. or got a private track like roczen

12k for a 450 win I’d say it’s still more than the gp guys
SX rider prize money is still a joke! $12,000 for first in a 450 main is peanuts! Look at how many people are in the stands! 50-60 thousand people paying on average $80-$100 a ticket. That is crazy money, tv package gets them a ton of money, riders still have to pay an entry fee is just absurd. Raise the ticket price $5 and guarantee that money goes to the riders purse. Privateers can barely afford to get from one race to the next. Pay them more money. Factory guys have huge contracts and get paid very well, but what about the little guys who are doing it on their own? I love this sport ever since I went to my first Super Bowl of motocross in the 70’s at the Rosebowl in Pasadena when I was just a little kid! Getting vip passes from the vice president of miller beer because Don Shasha was a friend of the family.
Wow. 12k is what you get for a 450 main event win!? That's it!? I know these riders get more than that from their respective teams. Amd sponsors. Etc. But that prize money is dismal.

The riders should be taking the lion share of the money. The series promoters and everything else are not the talent and are merely just a leech living off the riders. Yet they make most of the money 🤔

You were so pumped on WSX. You thought that this is it baby! AMA Supercross is on the ropes. Now the riders can get paid what they’re finally worth. Then the announcement was made that Supercross and Motocross were to join forces with playoffs.
I remember your show vividly. Thank God, there’s tapes. You thought this was arranged to tear down WSX, when in fact it’s documented that talks for this merge happened much earlier. Besides , who the F cares anyway if it was done to sabotage its competition WSX?! The United States should start protecting their intellectual interest.
Conclusion:
Riders get paid what they’re worth, and fans get a series that has the best of the best riders. If you wanna hate on our series- build your own. Oh wait,, they did. How’s that working out for ya😆
