I came here looking for info on how best to can sweet potatoes this weekend, and stayed to watch ghee, paper bag meals, and your unique and entertaining approach to plum jam, which I think I'll try. I've been canning, dehydrating, etc. for around five years, have watched lots of videos, and really like your approach. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Subbed.

I've been canning for over 40 years but have never tried sweet potatoes. They are very abundant in Mississippi and I've been wanting to try some. Have watched a few other videos but I really liked yours. You didn't waste time on insignificant things and you included each step for beginners. Thanks for a great video!

I love the fact you say common sense! Sometimes people drive me nuts with their opinions. When you have been canning as many years as you and I, you do know what it right and why. Hope you have a very blessed week.

My slips went berzerko this year. Had more than I could even give away! I planted a ridiculous amount (had an idea to grow them up a trellis that doubles as a shade wall to keep my living room cooler), and I still have quite a big pile of sweet potatoes on the shelf from last year. I think it's time for some overnight canning marathons again, and I'm so glad to have your channel to refresh my memory. Yours are the very best canning videos on the platform and I can't thank you enough. 💚🤗

After watching this video, I mentally placed canning these sweet potatoes on my 'to can' list. Since it's just my husband and I at home now, I knew I did not want to can a huge amount. In November 2022, our local Kroger had them for 19 cents a lb! I knew it was time to get this project done. I finally had time to can them last week and now I have beautiful sweet tomatoes on our shelves! I only used hot water as my husband is diabetic. I canned 10 pints and can't wait to taste them! Thank you so much for showing how to can these! (I too had a thin-bladed knife to use to peal, so easy!)

Growing up (only 100 years ago 😆), my grandmother had one very similar, if not the same. And you are right. Thanks for bringing back some great memories from the past.

As a former teacher, who comes from a long line of teachers (and who is married to a most excellent college professor!), I SO appreciate your outstanding teaching- clear, concise, rational and logical. My father, Jim, a science teacher, taught me at an early age to believe in science and to appreciate the specificity it requires. I LOVE your videos. And a big shout-out to YOUR Jim- he is a truly awesome videographer- always steady, zooming in and pulling out just when I want and need him to- you two are just perfect!
Here’s my query- you mention “our pantry shelves” in almost every video. I have developed a SERIOUS desire to see them! Would you and Jim ever consider giving us a pantry tour? Maybe you already have and I just haven’t come across it yet, but, boy, I sure would love to see them!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent content you and Jim are creating. You’ve given me the knowledge, inspiration, and confidence to begin my canning adventures in earnest.

Thank you so much for all your kind comments--especially for Jim. He will especially appreciate hearing what you said. Our pantry shelves are nothing special--just shelving units in our garage, which is insulated. Maybe someday we will show them!

It would be so AWESOME to see them! Our pantry is SO SMALL, and I know we’re going to need more space, so I’ve been investigating others’ solutions to their pantry needs! I’m an avid fermenter and sourdough bread baker and I’m considering turning one of our spare bedrooms into a sort of kitchen “annex” since we’re blessed (cursed?) to have such a TINY kitchen! 😂
Thanks again for all you and Jim are doing!

@@allygirl641 Yes, I agree- a tour would be awesome! How and why you shelf things which way. It might be short, but so worthwhile!

I have always wanted to can Sweet Potatoes, but didn't, because I thought it would be too hard and complicated. When I saw how beautiful your potatoes were I got tears in my eyes and determined myself to-do some this season. Thank you so much!

A few yrs ago, I was having terrible stomach pains, and thought maybe it was cancerous. I prayed and told God I was not going to any doctors, so if He wanted me to live, He'd have to heal me. The next morning I woke up to a voice in my head that said EAT ORANGE FOODS. Sweet potato, yams, winter squash, pumpkin.. Well, I don't always listen to the voices I hear, but I figured it couldn't hurt to do this, so I went and bought some sweet potatoes. I boiled and ate one, and that very HOUR, the PAIN STOPPED, and my mind got a surge of 'good mood' and memory INCREASE that I hadn't had in YEARS! I was remembering words that I forgot I knew! And the mood was like I had taken some great drug, or something. ! I thank and praise JESUS for this miracle, and if you know anyone who is sick or wants better memory..Tell them to eat orange foods! God bless.

So long story short, you were deficient in vitamin A and potassium which was affecting your overall health and immune system. Amazing how the body will tell you what you need inherently if you will listen 👍🏼

@@DebRoo11 I give credit to the Lord Jesus Christ and God who created me. My body didn't speak to me like that. But it was an amazing recovery.

Thank you Mother for showing us how to do this. Someone gave me a bunch on sweet potatoes. Some began molding. But I cut the moldy parts off and cleaned them. So I’m gonna try canning some.

Thank you for all you do. Especially sharing the truth about items used in canning. I searched for a plastic tool like what they say to use but couldn’t find one. I ended up using a plastic orange peeler but have used a butter knife as well. Thanks to you I know it’s ok!😁
