    A little clearing the sand from in front of the back wheels would have made that recovery much safer using much less effort so that should be emphasized ! Jimmy

    A well presented video on a 'snatch' recovery.
    However, it should have been prefaced with the most important message of all - a safety message.
    The SAFEST recovery option attempted should ALWAYS be the first option used and the safest is via the use of recovery tracks (you had 'em. They are seen in the back of the Bundera at the end).
    It's just not as testosterone filled and macho as a 'snatch' recovery.

    Nice vid, would of liked to see a comment on how much run up and throttle is appropriate for the recovery as a lot of guys seem to think that you need to floor it with 6m of slack to do it properly.

    A tote bag full of sand would also work well in the middle of the rope.

    .....and that's how it's done.

    Two dampeners is better than one. One on each end. Stop the momentum sooner when the strap or shackle breaks

    Why are Australians hung up on kinetic straps as first choice? Ard they the best universal choice or is it just s adrenalin thing?

    Just a quick question , I have an 80, is it better to snatch with rear lockers off or On when you’re on sand ?

      On would be better, but will make little difference.

    2:40 why not use a tow ball?

    • @supercheapautotv
      @supercheapautotv  5 років тому +6

      Hi Codywohlers, Tow balls are a single sheer bolt and are known to break in a snatch recovery situation resulting in damage to vehicles and in some cases, serious injury and death. Check out this handy guide about recovery points on vehicles for more information. ua-cam.com/video/APuksmXZreA/v-deo.html NEVER recover off a towball.

      Because it will break off and can fly through the windscreen of the rear vehicle that is being recovered and has killed many people who use the tow ball! Jimmy

    • @neth77
      @neth77 4 роки тому +1

      They kill people, it has happened plenty of times in Australia! If you have a toe ball you have a tow bar, which means you can go and get a $50 recovery part and put it in there and live another day.

      it doesn't break off when you tow a trailer. (including slamming on the breaks, collisions, etc)

    • @chrisjones1864
      @chrisjones1864 4 роки тому +3

      codywohlers it doesn’t break off because a trailer provides downward force hence the name “ tow ball”

    How about the “U”recovery that comes with the car?

    • @harmeetgp
      @harmeetgp 5 років тому +2

      That is a tie down point.

    • @freefall0483
      @freefall0483 5 років тому

      @@harmeetgp No. It is not. They are recovery points. Same as Pajero and Patrol.
      Still better to upgrade though. More safety margin.
