I love that look on Johnny Sack's face when Carmine asks him if Ralph slepted with Ginny, he's like "I won't even dignify that with a response" hahaha.
+Young Bachelor Magazine Just Carmine. Everybody else were a bunch of cowboys. Carmine had to constantly remind everybody that we're all here to make money and not let stupid shit mess up a good thing. This, just another example.
Carmine actually took a big risk on this one. Emotional or not, Johnny was one of his closest guys and very valuable to his organization. Johnny still felt insulted after this and was even planning to whack Carmine in the Season 4 finale before the hit was called off. Carmine dies of a stroke in the Season 5 premiere but if he'd lived I'm pretty sure Johnny would have ended up killing him eventually, especially once he had Phil backing him up. Why risk the loyalty of one of your closest guys just to protect a piece of shit like Ralph Cifaretto? Ralph was pretty much a dead man walking at this point anyway since he was making enemies left and right.
Carmine showed good sense. Its all about business. As The Godfather would have said "Clipping Ralph is not justice. Your wife is not dead nor has she been physically attacked. We'll deal with it, but clipping? No way!"
Another Godfather quote relevant to this discussion: "I don't like violence. I'm a business man. Blood is a big expense". If you whack a made guy from another Family, a high earning capo no less, there better be a good reason. The fallout from a war could cost you more than those words cost John. We see in S6 how sick the NY guys are of Phil's war, even though it was much more justified at the beginning than this.
1:13. That moment when he slowly sips his cappuccino in total silence in response to Johnny's ranting and raving. He then slowly puts it down. No words. Total silence. You know shit's going to get real.
don't think you'd sip a cappuccino in a cup that small; its probably espresso. not saying this to be an ass but saying it as someone who recently discovered his addiction to cappuccinos. delicious.
This is the difference between Johnny Sack and Carmine as Bosses. Carmine always acted like a ‘Boss’ and it created stability during his long reign. Johnny was always up and down as a Boss and his reign was always unstable, wasn’t as long and led to an eventual war after his departure.
Carmine is the only real boss on this show. Tony lips portrayal of him is so good you think that he was really a mob titan. Nobody casted better than David Chase.
+JimmyJam1125 Fuckin A, dude. I have no idea why Tony and Johnny Sack considered Carmine an idiot. The dude was all about business and didn't let his emotions get in the way. It's no surprise that things turned to shit as soon as John took over after Carmine's death (and then even worse with Phil).
They also implied that Carmine Sr. was an idiot when Tony referred to Little Carmine as "Brainless the Second". It was never verbalized maybe but Tony and Johnny Sack didn't really take him Carmine Sr. seriously.
I kinda disagree with that since Johnny Sack was ready to undermine Carmine Sr. by (almost) going thru with the Ralph Cifaretto hit, thereby directly disobeying Carmine's orders not to touch Ralph. Sack and Tony were inches away from whacking him if Tony hadn't backed out last minute. Don't get me wrong, I loved Carmine Sr, and I thought he was an awesome boss, I just don't think he was respected by Sack.
*"What did he say?"* *"Do I gotta repeat it?"* *"Not if you want him clipped."* *"He said...I can't wait to see you in GI Jane 2"* *"........."* *"The implication is her head is so bald she could play in that movie."*

That smirk at 0:43. Even Johnny Sack couldn't keep a straight face telling that joke
"Ralph slept with ginny?" Lmfao
ltngirlll he wants to fuck her? Lmao
You’re so cute marry me
He was freak in a bed though so it could be possible 😆
Yeah, and he was wearing Christophers mothers muff on his head. Fkn prick!
Couldn't have sipped that espresso at a better time. Fantastic lighting too.
I ALSO LIKE THE COLOR OF THE WOOD IN THE BACKGROUND. VERY WOODISH.
The sounds of the city outside.
Perfect
@@CooManTunes very allegorical.
1:13 I always loved how he pauses, takes a sip, calmy sits the cup down before his final answer 🤣
YUp. Mind you he says "there are millions of dollars at stake" TWICE. Once in two separate episodes. The other was at the sit down with 4 of them AND Junior listening in thru a burner phone.
The look of disgust on Carmine's face when he asks "Ralph slept with Ginny?" it was almost like he wanted to follow the question with "ewww"!
😅😅😅
Carmine has the best poker face ever...
No, Putin is NO. 1 😂😂
John's not worried about Ginny, he's worried about how much respect is given to him
you need to be respected to survive in the mafia
EXACTLY! In John's mind, if Tony's crew is laughing at fat jokes about Ginny, it means they arent afraid of John and therefore dont respect him. Since he is New Yorks envoy for dealing with Tony's crew he has to be feared/respected to do business with them. This whole thing is about John asserting his position over Ralph and Tony.
bingo
I think it goes a lil deeper than that. Fair points though
@@hullbreach33 100%. All these people making out like its because he loved his wife more than anything. You can love your wife without wanting to kill someone who insults her behind your back!
"He violated my wife's honour."
"Ralph slept with Ginny??"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
These poor mafia bosses and their (crew) babysitting issues 😁🤣😂
That might have been the funniest thing in the entire Sopranos series; "Ralph slept with Ginny?"
I don't know what you mean with that .but you clearly dont understand nothing , always pretending to be the centre of the world . it Hurst so much to you that is not.
this was about money and Johny sack honour ,not about the wife ,it was about that they insulted him , it's a thing of power it's about they dare to insult him. It's all about pride here , things that woman's doesn't understand to be honest.
@@Gunner192 I think the funniest line is shortly after. "He wants to fuck her?"
it's peripheral scenes like this with peripheral characters that made The Sopranos the best show on television ever.
Well said
You have some low standards
Fuckin nauseating
Clearly you've never seen saved by the bell
Every single thing about this show was perfect. Every single character was totally 3 dimensional, with goals, conflicts, backstory, and relationships. From Tony to Carmine. Everyone had a purpose. Add the great writing, perfect acting, great use of music... I could go on. God, I miss this show.
1:06 ...absolute gold😂😂😂
I heard that when Ginny Sack wears high heels, she strikes oil.
When ginny sack goes camping, the bears have to hide their food

@@dave123xxx HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
@@dave123xxx 😅😅....that joke always kills me!
A $200K tax on all of you who insulted his wife’s honor!
The real funny thing is that Johnny Sack actually thinks no one before made fun of his wife.
@@cornusia Yeah he just wanted to cement his position as a tough prick so he'd have no opposition as next boss. He even says it's his honor.
I agree with Phatohobic but at the same time, I think it’s made clear as the thread of this plot line progresses that JS was genuinely angered over the woman he loved being insulted.
@@cornusia you're seeing too much under the water. Years passed and nobody disprespected John in his face. Every reaction of his concerning that joke was genuine anger about his wife, you can tell by looking at him in every scene
Will Smith
I'd say it really was about the wife considering that when he found out that she was breaking her diet he decided to forgive the whole thing because he believed she was genuinely trying her hardest to lose the weight in the first place and yet he accepted her for who she was all along but also thought that she was being unnecessarily picked on until he realized she truly wasn't putting the effort he thought she was.
Will smith: I want you to sanction a hit on chris rock
Carmine: what are you fuckin kidding me?
Will smith: he violated my wife’s honor
Carmine: chris slept with jada?
An Oscar for insulting my wife?! What’s next ?
He gets to FUCK HER FOR A MILLION ?!?!
😂😂😂😂
Good one!!
NO , But just cause Jada phuks my sons friends & got pregnant by him, it's still not as bad as being insulted by "This Ralph FN thief" lol
People have copied the same sopranos inside jokes and I’ve laughed every time. You managed to be the only unfunny comment I’ve ever come across in this community. walk away now. Or suffer.
I love Carmine in the very beginning. "Are you fuckin' kiddin' me?"
I love that look on Johnny Sack's face when Carmine asks him if Ralph slepted with Ginny, he's like "I won't even dignify that with a response" hahaha.
The look on Carmine's face after Johnny told the joke. "Is this fckin guy serious ?? "🤣🤣
Carmine Lupertazzi and Jackie Aprile were the best bosses, hands down.
Young Bachelor Magazine Then that two faced ungrateful fuck took the throne and the rest is history
Don't give me your fuckin Manson lamps

Just Carmine. Everybody else were a bunch of cowboys. Carmine had to constantly remind everybody that we're all here to make money and not let stupid shit mess up a good thing. This, just another example.

Other than Carmine making an appearance in Tony's dream later on. Could have done without that.
"I'll crack em good " Love it.
Carmine: "I'll crack him good."
Johnny: "How are you gonna do that?"
Carmine: "I'll have Ginny sit on him."
lmao
"Ralph slept with Ginny?"
😂😂 Carmine is visibly disgusted at the thought
Never thought of it that way

Carmine's face makes me laugh everytime.
It's almost as if his facial expression is saying "Are you fucking serious."
"My estimation of will smith as a man, just fucking plummeted"
Hilarious

Carmine did the right thing. He could clearly see that Sack was acting off of emotion, and that's never good for a man in power.
Yeah....if u ever notice that the real top guys are like that....kinda like Paulie in Goodfellas....calm, calculating...but a G nonetheless
@@silversnail1413 ralph was by far the best earner
Agreed
John was a terrible boss. But great underboss.
Carmine showed good sense. Its all about business. As The Godfather would have said "Clipping Ralph is not justice. Your wife is not dead nor has she been physically attacked. We'll deal with it, but clipping? No way!"
Justice is a myth in these circles, always has been
Ginny never even heard the joke and Ralph was always polite to her in person.
Another Godfather quote relevant to this discussion: "I don't like violence. I'm a business man. Blood is a big expense". If you whack a made guy from another Family, a high earning capo no less, there better be a good reason. The fallout from a war could cost you more than those words cost John. We see in S6 how sick the NY guys are of Phil's war, even though it was much more justified at the beginning than this.
i read that in a marlon brando voice. brilliant
If it was the Don's daughter, the assailant would die a painful death
When Carmine genuinely thinks for a second that Ralph slept with a Ginny😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Everytime it gets me 😭😂😂😂😭😂
😂
I love this scene, it’s got it all, fantastic acting, alternative humour, dark drama this is a perfect moment in a brilliant show.
Don’t you laugh though
What a great scene by both actors. The way Carmine sips his coffee considering his next move. Zero F's given.
0:03 when i watched the many saints of newark
Carmine was a great boss. He knew John was acting on emotion, and that's never good for a man in his position.
The entire facial expressions of Carmine during this talk are freaking hilarious.
After Johnny tells the joke he is like: Fuck contain the laughter contain it.
Him and those fishlips
Will Smith at the Oscars 2022
haha i knew someone else was thinking the same thing
1:13. That moment when he slowly sips his cappuccino in total silence in response to Johnny's ranting and raving. He then slowly puts it down. No words. Total silence. You know shit's going to get real.
He's not ranting or raving
don't think you'd sip a cappuccino in a cup that small; its probably espresso. not saying this to be an ass but saying it as someone who recently discovered his addiction to cappuccinos. delicious.
Johnny Sack: My word's not good enough?
Carmine: Not if you want him clipped over it!
Carmine's feigned cluelessness against Johnny's rage is hilarious.
"It's an off colored remark..." lol
Al Cabone “well that’s uh....deplorable!”
It was highly inappropriate.
It's not important, let's just agree it was unkind.
The point is that it's the wrong word
This is the difference between Johnny Sack and Carmine as Bosses. Carmine always acted like a ‘Boss’ and it created stability during his long reign. Johnny was always up and down as a Boss and his reign was always unstable, wasn’t as long and led to an eventual war after his departure.
"What? Are you fucking kidding me" lmfaooo
"Are you fuckin kiddin me?"
Carmine should have said that he will crack him good and ask for Ralph’s shinebox on top of the 200k.

@@bluesnake1713how about a million?
As Carmine sips his coffee, to think, you can hear the construction. He’s thinking about the esplanade
“Is it all about money?”
“Fam, what do you think we’re here for?”
It’s always amazed me how the writers were able to inject comedy into really serious scenes without being hokey.
“Not if you wanna clipped over it” classic line!!!!! The best!!!👍👍👍
+pavel brodskiy It's Little Carmine Jr., Carmine's son that Tony and Johnny Sack considered an idiot, not Carmine Sr.
They also implied that Carmine Sr. was an idiot when Tony referred to Little Carmine as "Brainless the Second". It was never verbalized maybe but Tony and Johnny Sack didn't really take him Carmine Sr. seriously.
Disagree. Carmine was The Boss. Who was treated 100% seriously by Tony and even by underboss Stack.
“Ralph slept with Jenny?” -one of the best responses in sopranos history.
Ginney
“Ralph slept with Ginny” 😂😂😂😂
We all sat there ready to burst with Carmine... but he stayed poker face. True G
*"What did he say?"*
*"Do I gotta repeat it?"*
*"Not if you want him clipped."*
*"He said...I can't wait to see you in GI Jane 2"*
*"........."*
*"The implication is her head is so bald she could play in that movie."*
"It's an off-color remark. It was highly inappropriate. If you want, I'll demand he doesn't host next year. But clip him?" *shakes head*
Johnny damn near laughed at the joke himself when he explained it to Carmine 😂😂
That sip of the cup......basically telling Johnny Sack 'You're wasting my time.' Classic.
Title should be changed to "Johnny Sac thinks he's Sir Walter Raleigh"
"What, are you fucking kidding me?"
The best thing is Carmine's subtle smugness and underlying cynicism... the whole "Are you fucking kidding me?!" tone and look he gives Johnny tell a lot about his no-bullshit, fair but cold-calculating character.
Carmine's utter lack of reaction to the joke, is hilarious.
0:33 imagine if Carmine started laughing at that lol
0:34 HAHA Carmine definitely wanted to laugh there. He was probably thinking "LOL that's not even the worse thing I've said about her in the past".
Johnny was my absolute favorite. I always liked the new york crews better than the jersey guys anyway. Jersey was always too sloppy. Between the blabber mouths, the rats and the out of pocket moves everyone made, Jersey was a fucking mess. I fucking love this show.
jokey
Darryl Paramore It's like NY said, the New Jersey "family" is nothing but a glorified crew.
Darryl Paramore I'm sure Coco didn't think they were a glorified crew when Tony went to NY and bashed his face and teeth in.
Robert Fernandez or when fat dom got done like a fat pig LOLOL
NJ might have around 30 made man, it was implicated that NY have over 200 made man and probably over 1k associate. You cannot have a weak unprofeesional boss with that much member.
This here, is the moment johnny sack becomes Will Smith.
(I love how all the other sopranos fans are coming together to make this connection, very based.)

After Johnny Sack leaves, Will Smith walks in and asks Carmine to sanction a hit on Chris Rock for his 'Gi Jane' joke about Jada.
I love how the old timers like Carmine and Junior didn't get the joke at all!
Oh, they got it. They just can't laugh or react as angry as Sacks. Cold and calculating. Carmine is just waiting like, "... yeah, and?"
"Is it all about the money!?"
Pretty much John yeah.
I laughed more at Sack elaborating the joke to Carmine than I ever did at the joke itself.
