Nice video Bob! Thanks for sharing. Questions. Let's say the current and wind are too strong and you got pushed out to the open sea. Should you try to land on the beach of the east/west side and wait for the tide stop and then slowly kick back to the launching point or simply call for help? If call, who do you call to?
Good question, thanks for asking! If you ever have a real emergency on the water, you can simply call 911. All the local police agencies have harbor patrol units and they can send a boat if needed. The biggest part of float tube safety is to stay aware of your surroundings. If you're so oblivious to what's going on that you let yourself get washed out to sea, you shouldn't be on the water at all. If you feel like you might be getting in trouble, beach yourself, figure out where you are and what your options are and take it from there. If you can't wait for the tide to change, if you can't pack it up and walk out, if you're really, truly stuck, I'd imagine you could call an emergency boat towing service to come pick you up. I also imagine the bill wouldn't be cheap.
Thanks Bob, very helpful info. This is exactly what I was looking for
