    I see no reason to not find a small waterproof box to house the drill and Cut a hole for the switch and waterproof it.

    Would it be easier if, on the pipe that holds the tray, or on the tray it self you put a trolling motor instead of the drill?

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  2 місяці тому +1

      It certainly would, and with better results than the drill. This was more of a fun project for me, rather than a very clear goal of usability. Since posting the video I have given up on the drill mostly because steering is difficult.
      An 18lb thrust trolling motor would be more than enough power (like the Watersnake T18, which is only 6lb ). Small and light, with a short shaft, it would be much better than the drill idea. It could be combined with a 30Ah LiFepo4 very light battery (about 7lb), which would be placed on the back of the seat, like the one in the video.
      The only con I see is making sure the prop doesn't hit your feet/legs. I only use leg power in rivers now, and for lakes I bought a Zodiac inflatable, but if I were to do it again I would certainly look at a small trolling motor.

    Thanks for the video. I will give this set up a try. It looks the best from what I have seen. Did you glue the mounts while the float was inflated or deflated?

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  6 місяців тому

      Deflated for sure. Marked the spot with a pencil when inflated, then deflated it. Even if the glue is on the skin of the tubes, some might reach the bladders, and HH^^ can melt an inflated bladder.

    Awesome idea. Do the rocket launchers loose their ability to be rod holders with this design? it looks like your crossbar basically bisects them so I assume there's not enough depth to still hold a rod. If that's correct, what do you use the remaining section of the Rocket Launcher for?

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  Місяць тому +1

      That's correct, but it can be mitigated. Think a round clamp around the rocket launcher instead of hole for the crossbar. The are electrical clamps big enough. I don't use it for anything now, the two rod holders on the crossbar are all I need but they could be adapted for gopro, or anything else creative

      @@AndiDan FYI i asked an electrician friend and he recommended a 1.5" conduit pipe hanger. It would allow you to reverse the way you have the cross bar mounted essentially. You would put the large end of the clamp around the Rocket launcher and then use the smaller in of the clamp to bold to your 1" PVC crossbar.

      I replaced it with some paracord from Walmart. I don't remember the size, but I got like 50 ft. Maybe 1/4 in? It was enough for a 3 lb grapple anchor

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  Рік тому +1

      Just used it yesterday again :) No problems at all. Pads and mounts are solidly on. I only need to have a small rechargeable pump with me because within 15 min of cold mountain water, the bladders contract by a third. First time it happened I though I had a leak, but fortunately I didn't. I top them off and I'm good for the rest of the day. It's also unbelievable how much abuse the bottom of the tube can take on rocks without even getting scratched. Quite impressive.

    • @2011KGM

      The rod holders. Since they are mounted on the sides, not only top heavy, but hook up a big fish...
      Seems like it would rotate away from the tube. I'd be afraid the stress on the tube over time will cause a catastrophic failure.

    • @2011KGM
      @2011KGM Рік тому

      Also, did you use HH-66 glue? Would it be possible to put the mounts on the top of the tube? I am interested in getting a Cumberland so doing options research. I currently have a Togiak but the tube cover is fabric, not PVC. Same with my Creek Company Sport pontoon.

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  Рік тому +1

      @@2011KGM I see what you mean. Didn't have a problem at all. When you sit in the boat they actually lean inwards and compensate. I caught 2-3 lb fish and no problem. I doubt they'll fail. The tube will be pulled before the holder will fail. If you are concerned about rotating, put an eyelet on the top or middle of the rod holder, and anchor it to the tab behind the pocket. That will completely secure it
      Yes, I used HH-66. Yes about the top of the tube. The mount that I linked it both for side and top installation. My cover is also fabric and didn't rip or anything.

    How did you attach the PVC rod between the two scotty bow holders? I really like that idea and want to copy it.

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan  Рік тому +1

      You can see a detail at 1:06. I drilled a side hole in both scotty holders (check the outside diameter of the PVC to choose the size of the hole), inserted the pvc pipe on both sides, then used a bolt and nut through both of them to hold them together
