08/09 Toyota Corolla Steering Noise

Knocking noise heard when shaking the steering wheel left to right. Its also heard when driving on uneven roads. Is it this shaft making that sound?

Change 2 bolt at each end of shaft can be purchased in any Toyota dealership & give them a good torque // plus split shaft when u have it of and pack with grease including spindles ,lithium grease kt solved in my 2008 Toyota auruis.. no more rattle noise,

2013 Scion tC, had the same issue. Bought a whole new intermediate steering shaft from ToyotaPartsDeal for $150. The grease had leaked out of the bearings in my old one and the car drives like new again. Much more responsive steering, no more clunks, creaks, and vibration.

Here in Serbia You can change just bearings in this cardan shaft, something like 30 euros for refurbish.

I was able to fix a similar sounding issue on a 2012 Corolla just by tightening the green bolt that tightens the u joint side to the steering wheel

Can you please explain which green bolt you are referring to?

I’ve seen videos that needed a piece to go inside of steering dampener that disintegrated

Not on the 2009 those are for the newer models 2012 and up

Aziz Bamyani yes, replacing that same intermediate shaft fixed the problem

Same issue corolaa 2008 100 speed drive ok 110 to 120 strering same vibration
