This simple melody is made more complex and virtuosic with diminutions that are very reminiscent of those of Jakob Van Eyck. I must say that this melody was starting to tire me but done this way, I love it!
I wish you made this video years ago when it was viral so you could get a lot of views... But the quality is so good that it doesn't matter when you upload it. Talent is timeless
Professor Sarah's expertise, training and knowledge with the recorder gives her the uncanny ability to transform the simplest of melodies into complex interpretations.
I have been playing electric guitar for decades. Of course I have played recorders every now and then, even on my hard rock demos. Still, I have got really entusiastic only recently. And Sarah's lessons and performances are not only informative, but also ve-ry inspirating!
Priceless performance, from the smile at the start to the burble finish. And the calm continuity radiated by the pianist as the recorder goes furiouser and furiouser.
Me too. I'm self taught and have been playing since Feb. I'm not quite at the level where I can play all the pieces fluently, but its good having something to work towards. Also, the pieces themselves make for great listening.
Gorgeous! It's always impressive to see how much embellishment can be done on simple folk melodies. I quite enjoy using them in orchestral writing myself and kinda using them "inappropriately". For example, taking a lullaby and making it fast and raucous or taking a work song and making it sweet and serene 😆

Thank you! That was exactly the idea - writing variations in the style of Van Eyck, and the last one - Vivaldi ;)
I would love to see more of you playing such pieces! That and anything baroque and/or classical. You're such a virtuoso!
Thank you! ❤️ These videos are all from my book release concert, and there are more to come 😊
You can listen to Sarah's Album "My Favorite Melodies" and play along with it too! For me its on UA-cam Music 😊

Haha thanks! I did make a Wellerman video back then: ua-cam.com/video/P3KkYUgYgjA/v-deo.html And then HAD to include the piece in my book 😌

It just goes to show that the recorder can be a career, and play beautifullly like this

Beautiful! Do you accept any fan compositions? I have a piece for a recorder trio (alto, tenor and bass recorder)
I'm in the US, can I purchase a copy of your book?
Absolutely wonderful! AI has a long way to go to replace your expressive playing.
That's an instrument that under the wrong hands it can be a nightmare to listen to. Masterful execution
Hmm ..
Not a terribly good song, at least you made it fun to listen to with the variations.
