Wow. 🥇This is not only a classic pattern in the world of textiles, but one of my favorites and you just elevated the classic in wood. Here's to you. 🍷 Hope you don't mind, but I started line dancing to the music.
I usually check out of 'how to' videos with long intros pretty quickly, but this one kept me laughing all the way. I think the intro was more creative than the houndstooth board. Thanks for your efforts, I really enjoy the many works that you do!
Wow. This is different, and awesome. I can’t imagine a Tennessee fan wanting to make anything houndstooth. 😂 Living in Birmingham, I may attempt this to sell. I’m a UGA grad myself, so I’ll have to grin and bear it. Thanks for sharing and I’m glad I found your channel!
Dude, Billy Stark, you have a Jarvis in your brain! Not sure what level of math, geometry, and att you got up to, but it’s impressive! You made an incredibly complicated pattern look easy. Great job, and awesome intro!
Awesome video. Loved the intro. Thanks for taking us through this you did a great job of explaining things. Much easier to follow when people do that. Appreciate it. 👍
So on Amazon right now there are wall mounted panel clamps that act as calls and your clamps. Best investment ever, especially for this kind of stuff. And for the price of a woodpecker square you can make an entire wall sized panel clamp.
Great video Billy and thank you for putting this together; I am looking to fabricate one myself and am wondering if you recall the dimensions of the glued up strips (3:28) - looks like 1 1/2 " square in by maybe 18" long?
It's very frustrating that the dimension wasn't included, and I can't seem to find it on plans anywhere. I've made several of these now, but largely had to figure it out for myself. I reasoned that if the striped pieces are cut down to 7/8 square, they must be 1.5" from corner to corner diagonally. 1 1/2 divided by 4 = 3/8. So the strips are 3/8 thick and 1.5" wide. Length is variable depending on what size board you're making.
And here I was thinking the last cutting board I saw was epic... And then I see this one. I still wouldn't defile it even with my most expensive Japanese knives.
I hate putting 10-15 hours of work into a gorgeous cutting board to give to someone as a gift just for them to not bother using it. Cutting boards, especially endgrain ones, are MEANT to be used for cutting. An endgrain board has a self-healing design that makes it harder to build, but much more resistant to getting marked up over the years.
It's okay. I haven't used many other bandsaws to compare it. It has a large resaw capacity, which is important to me. I'm not thrilled about the stock guides on it.
I’ve gone back and forth between watching this video and reading your post on the instructables website I can’t figure out the thickness of the strips. Math has never really been my friend. It’s just the 1 1/4 inch divided by four?
Why do you you tubers always use the most irritating music you can find . I know I know just lower the sound or don't watch if you want subscribe rs take the costume critisim as offered. Other wise it was a great video

Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. 👍
I love how you mix technology and woodwork, both of my favorite things! Love your videos
Love the board and your shirt
Million dollar cutting board! Great job man!👍🏻👏🏻
I tried your finishing process on a couple of end grain boards and it is superior to dipping in oil. So pleased to learn this. Thank you.
That's awesome to hear!
Love the intro. Very trekie futuristic. 😉 👍🏽
awesome , great planning and designing

Houndstooth is timeless. I always wanted to make it out of wood.
What a stellar video! From the awesome subject matter to the cool intro to the great editing -- you nailed it! 👏👏👏
Just amazing work. Great teacher at work here.
Thank you so much!
Really nice looking board. Time to go make some sawdust!
Man I love your channel Billy. My wish for 2021 is for your channel to explode with subscribers, you really deserve it. Keep it up.
Do you have plans with measurements details for this and the plaid boards
So cool! Love the intro😜
Excellent design and execution.
I wish I had the patience to make board like this. I still make pretty cool ones though. Great work!
Very nice board. Thanks for sharing it.
Good morning from SE Louisiana 24 Oct 21.
So so beautiful!!! 👏👏👏👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏👍👍❤️❤️
Absolutely beautiful
At 6:12 I noticed you have one of the end boards facing a different direction. The cutting board came out great.

Great job, and awesome intro!
Hello Billy How long does it take for the petroleum smell to exit the board? Thank you
Do you think 3/4" finished lumber could be used to make a houndstooth cutting and charcuterie board?
Che lavoro meraviglioso, bravo. Peccato che non capisco una parola 😢
Awesome! Will definitely be trying this! Great video, thanks!
I love this and the plaid cutting board. Amazing. Just curious- what is your actual time investment from start to finish in this project?
very nice
Very Nice. Thanks.
It turned out very beautiful! Happy New Year!
Liked, subbed, purchased plans! ✔
you are the biggest nerd! i love it. now, back to the video...
@@NewtonMakes as it was intended. no higher calling than nerddom.

Im not sure why but i think of galaga the video game when i see this haha. Awesome work!
Awesome video. Loved the intro. Thanks for taking us through this you did a great job of explaining things. Much easier to follow when people do that. Appreciate it. 👍
Great video! What songs are you playing in the background?
No idea. After over 100 videos with a half dozen songs per video, I can't keep track.
I followed a link from another Newton Makes video. Was there supposed to be a hologram in the intro?

That is awesome sir. Question, how big were the blocks before you put the 45 on it?
I don't remember but I wrote a pretty lengthy blog about it on my website. It may help.

@@NewtonMakes Awesome - thanks! I'll shoot you a picture when I'm done!

Would you use the same finishing process with an edge grain board?
Man that turned out amazing Billy was a blast watching this come together and really cool intro 😎 you got all the cool toy's on the block 👍👊
Great idea and love how it turned out! But didn't we all sign something that said we can't show the holographic gesture field to apple users?
And here I was thinking the last cutting board I saw was epic... And then I see this one. I still wouldn't defile it even with my most expensive Japanese knives.
Stay tuned this week for another one!

Do you have a place that I can get all of the cutting board plains
Sure do! They are all on my website newtonmakes.com/shop
I can’t see a hound tooth but I can see a galiga fly. Lol. But still awesome design.
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho ficou linda a sua tábua

Check out my Instagram! Posted several pics. 👍

How do you like your Rikon Bandsaw? Pro's / Con's
It's okay. I haven't used many other bandsaws to compare it. It has a large resaw capacity, which is important to me. I'm not thrilled about the stock guides on it.
An excellent build and a great video. Now, do one with the basic tools that most of us hobbyists own.
How do I build my own frame?
How can i but this cutting board ?
Why are you using Titebond Quick and thick instead of Titebond III?
I used quick and thick only on the jig that I made because I wanted it to dry as quickly as possible.
Would be more helpful if you provided the milling dimensions either in comments or during video.
Gorgeous! I'd love to know how many total hours you spent on this!
Uasyiiiik....!
wunderschön 1a
What's the music at around the 7:10 minute mark?
Martin Carlberg and Oomie - Down in the Dirt
Are you serious?that advertisement on your video. No more from you😝
I’ve gone back and forth between watching this video and reading your post on the instructables website I can’t figure out the thickness of the strips. Math has never really been my friend. It’s just the 1 1/4 inch divided by four?
Yes, exactly.
That you Ricky?
