I appreciate you showing the ferro rod actually starting a fire because a lot of times people complain that after they buy a product with that feature it doesn’t work. So that was cool to see
I didn't realise this product was so old! I've been after a multi tool like this for a while. I just purchased this one from a local outdoor store in the UK. I'm a motorcyclist who loves long trips out, and recently have come across occasions devices like this would be great in my workplace. After unwrapping the tool, I decided to take to youtube to see how people have got on with it. Your review is fantastic! I love that you have thrown on some practical applications too. The kit doesn't come with any instructions, just a leaflet telling me to register the product on the leatherman website, so I didn't even know there was a locking mechanism to keep it closed tight, for example. So, thank you for posting this video. I raise a pint to you!
That Beefier blade is something unique! If they could only find room for those Surge scissors it would probably be the perfect multitool! Thanks for sharing👍 BB
I always carry my leatherman signal combined with my leatherman Micra, that way i'll always have a set of scissors plus i get those nice tweezers, nail cleaner and small flathead :)
Bought a Leatherman signal yesterday. Dropped it on the cement today. When it hit the ground it cracked the plastic tip off the ferrocerium rod (opposite the end of where you blow for the whistle).. the portion that holds it into the frame. Found out two things that you might be interested in: 1. Found out that the ferrocerium rod is crucial to being able to close the leatherman back up. Without the rod in place, the pliers can awkwardly poke out the side where the rod is supposed to be. 2. Don't lose or break the ferrocerium rod. 😊. I think it would've been nice for them to make it out of some sort of light metal rather than plastic. This would be my one gripe so far about this tool after just one day. You're the man! Keep up the great videos!
Great review! Loved how you included the side by side with some other models for comparison. That makes the overall review so much better. Keep up the great work!
Great review, thanks. Just bought one for hiking - it's an edgy looking piece of kit. The replaceable wire cutters are so practical. Cool saw, nice build. Can't wait to field test it. I'll feel more comfortable knowing I have this for emergency situations etc. Appreciate your comment re the fire starter for emergency use. I'll continue to carry a separate fire starter.
The greatest failure of Leatherman (I own and love them) is the goofball idea that they have to have a serrated or combination blade on almost all of their tools. I'm toying with the idea of some how sourcing another tool to replace the idiotic serrated blade on my EDC Sidekick.
The Skeletool Rx has a straight blade, and along with the Style CS is the only tool I EDH anymore. It's got exactly what I need and is lightweight. Of course, going outdoors is a whole nother ball game, but for at home it's perfect. Check it out if you're in the market
I just ordered a Leatherman Surge, but after seeing this, I have changed my order to the SIGNAL, but I really want the Surge also. I have a great 2 strips with many different bits fitting both the Surge and Signal. But the black Surge is really a nice tool. At any rate, I have much survival stuff, as you said, you would only use the signal for bonfires if you did not have other fire-steel, for this is ONLY for the last resort, as this little fire-steel would wear down in a month or 2 of heavy use. My friend has special handmade me the biggest Fire-Steel in a homemade version where the steel is as thick as my pointer finger, and it's put in the coolest sheath, where all is thick well-treated leather, handstitched all over, and Polished Brass, it really should be seen. But this fire-steel is one of the coolest ever, and so well made, it's art. But it will easily light about 5-10.000 fires. And the glowing sparks are over 2000 degrees hot and do not go out right away. I tried it inside my home, it cost me burns on the floor and holes in my pants, lol. The Signal will be my backup for my backup, in case. I wish I could show you pictures. Thank you for this video
Thanks for the video. I got this from a friend and he didn’t tell me anything about it. I was planning to add this to my EDC pack. I didn’t realize it had a whistle, which could come in handy.
I've been carrying a signal for a couple of months since I lost my fourth wave. I really love it, as you said it has all of the useful tools that the wave has and none of the ones I never used anyway. I never used the scissors, what's the point when you have two sharp blades? The pliers are great, and another tool I frequently use. The bit driver is the most important thing to me, and the reason I have no interest in the OHT. I love having just about every size of square, hex, and torx in my bit kit. I also keep a Surge strapped to my backpack that goes everywhere with me, and a Style on my key chain anyway. However, there is one tool that I just realized a few days ago which is missing on the Signal -- the ruler. I used the heck out of that little ruler on my waves. I know it's only 8 inches, but it can easily measure stuff far bigger than that by simply holding your finger as a marker at each 8 inches. I just bought another Wave today, the two-tone looks really awesome (I've already had two in silver and two in black oxide so wanted something different). They seem to last about two years before I lose them, hopefully I can do better this time!
Many years ago, I brought an original Leatherman Charge. Loved it until it was stolen. Seems shortly after introducing it, Leatherman came out with version 2.O which is the one currently available to this day. I can afford a new Charge. But the lack of an awl on arguably one of the best ever designed multi-tools out there, makes no sense to me. Get rid of that huge dedicated driver, and you've got plenty of space for the awl. But I like the Signal and will likely buy that soon.
You did a great Job Ben, you really showed all the awesome features of this. I'm really liking it. I never leave home without a multi tool on my hip. I just hope this thing isn't too Gimicky that's all. I'm an Indistrial Mechanic and faithfully rely on my multi tool. I'm still up in the air over the this one and I can admit it's not my favorite color.
I'm always fascinated with every new Leatherman Multi-Tool. I like owning a Leatherman but rarely ever use it. I just like the darn thing. A very good video review.
Thanks for the review. I am trying to decide between grabbing this or the wave. I spend a decent amount of time outdoors so I might have to go with the signal
I go camping a lot during the fall and I hike as often as life allows so I'm intrigued. If I find a used one or catch a sale I will add it to the collection. I would like the "hammer" on my Surge for sure! I carry my Surge and SwissChamp in the bush and have a whistle and an f rod with my first aid kit that I fanny pack even on short hikes. But again, I'll keep a keen eye out for a deal on one. Great video! Very thorough.
I've owned the signal for about a year now. I thought the hammer was a gimmick but it's actually very well designed. You can really get some force down without hurting your hand.
@Prestia2011 I definitely like it, I wasn't joking when I said I'd like it on my Surge. It's probably a good last ditch self defense tool as well! But the practical aspect even when not in the bush makes a lotta sense to me.
I enjoyed your review, in which you covered it all. In fact, the other few reviews I saw on the Signal, I never saw the ferrocerium rod and the sharpener put to use. Thumbs up!
Have to agree with you Ben. This looks like a great outdoors version of a Leatherman multitool and a quality purchase for any backpacker, added the link to my amazon cart. One thing I disagree with you on, everyone needs glasses, you just don't wear your glasses yet kid.
That's really slick. I edc a surge because scissors are a must have (my 4yo likes her straws shortened at restaurants) for me and I don't want an extra tool. Might snag one of the truck though.
Thanks for doing the compare as I’m up grading from my Wave I will miss the awesome little scissors on the wave they are great but I carry a little Swiss army Rambler in the multi tool leather case piggy back just for that anoying toe nail after a hard days hunting it’s a shame you can’t get those wave scissors on the Signsl that would be the ultimate
I like this leatherman , it's worthy of having a nice leather sheath made for it. My wife bought me a Eddie Bauer multi tool (they no longer make them) but i need a more sturdy one. I just might be buying this from your site. Thanks
I bought my first leatherman 4 years ago, leatherman wave.. and it’s been beyond useful. I really love it. The very first thing I did with it was fix my glasses and it’s just been brilliant since then. I’ve bought many friends and family Waves as gifts as I think they’re sort of perfect. I think in a way it’s Wave for the city, signal for the country. And a big shout out to Adam Savage from mythbusters who talked a lot about the leatherman wave on Tested and made me want to get one.
They should make the ferrocerium rod larger and replace the pliers for a sturdy pair of scissors. Why do I need pliers in the middle of a jungle? And get rid of the bit driver also. Add something for fishing like a separate fish hook and a compartment for the fishing line as well. Leatherman still had a mindset of a mechanic in mind when they designed this tool. This multitool needs a new update asap, it's been 5 years, unfortunately.
That was a great review Ben. Very well done. Some thing I've always wanted on a multi tool was a good cooking thermometer. I made that suggestion to Swiss Army Knives because I always carry one, but they never even responded. I think that would be pretty handy when cooking some thing like a bigger bird in the bush as well as when resources are limited for boiling water. You could just pasteurize the water and know it's good with a thermometer. Besides, how many different screwdrivers, saws, knife blades, can openers, and scissors can you have on a multi tool, and still keep them new and evolving each year. Anyway, keep up the great work.
+wjf213 that would be a nice addition to a purpose built tool. the biggest thing is they have to appeal to the masses unfortunately. i'm glad leatherman went outside the box on this one.
Great review - I've been hoping for one and I'm glad it was you who delivered! I know you can't please everyone, but I know I would've bought one already if it was a simple flat blade instead of the combo. You confirmed what I expected as to how great the rest of it was, though... Still tempting...
The flat screwdriver is good for turning into a chisel or opening paint cans. Aside from that they really should replace them with a better tool by now. The multi bit driver is just too good.
I think if they added a cool dime sized magnifying prism and a small compartment to put Maybe a needle and thread or Fish hook and string ,,that would be cool I really think weatherman leads to incorporate virtually a small toolbox that will latch closed on the side and then you can put in a small bit of survival equipment your personal own that would be really neat
very nice review. Great demonstration of the tool functions. I have a gerber multitool. It has a sheath with a flashlight and a firesteel. It is ok but the build quality is not as good as leatherman. The signal looks like a strong well made item.I wish leatherman would make a swiss army type multitool without the pliers , that would be cool as well. I think that anyone who spends time in the outdoors would be happy to own one of these. Hopefully these will be available in canada soon
Nice review of the Signal, Ive been following it for some time now and wanted to know how it would pan out in the real world situations. Looks good to me considering buying it.
Great review and view of this tool. I EDC my skeletool CX, it's great for my job and day to day and some tasks while camping(opening beers, being pliars, opening more beers, knifing things up). I think the signal would be great for a bug out bag or Get home bag, aka secondary knife or some such.. Normally while hiking I have a larger fixed blade, with a real 'light my fire' rod and striker. heavier, sure but lasts a very long time and the knife has more uses simply due to size. I might consider the Signal for my GHB as currently it contains my LMF2, and other heavier gear which really should be elsewhere.
Good review, balanced, unbiased and informative. Should I ever be able to drag myself outside of a pub or bar, I'd be taking a Leatherman Signal with me, if only to use the whistle to hail a taxi. Cheers, Bill
Great job friend, I love that it is lighter weight and they don't have all the dublicated standard screw driver blades. It also opens one handed and locks the blades I am getting one. Well done
+Mr. SirKing Don't come the raw prawn, cobber. Since small cans of beer were first introduced in the early 1960s in Australia they have NEVER been referred to as stubbies. Stubbies was the name given to small bottles of beer, which at their introduction in the 1950s, had no 'neck'. From that time on regular bottles of beer were differentiated by the term 'long necks'. This situation was somewhat confused when, sometime in the 1970s stubbies gained their now familiar 'long necks' and the 'no neck' stubby bottle was gradually withdrawn from use. So, at no time was beer, cider or any beverage sold in either 'tin' or aluminium cans ever referred to as stubbies. As an alcoholic I take the nomenclature of drinking and the unique history of our 'Strine slang seriously. hic, hic, hic!
You're like the P.T. Barnum of UA-cam. I can imagine you with a cane pointing up at your product and barking to the eager crowd gathering around you, "STEP RIGHT UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, GET YOUR BRAND NEW SHINEY LEATHERMAN SIGNAL . . . " Nah, I'm just messin' with you. Another great review, my spikey-haired friend.
One of your best reviews. Thanks. I like the way you compared other leatherman tools. It's my birthday in 3 weeks now how do I drop hints for She Who Must Be Obeyed?
I think you did a great job with your review, very informative! I am not impressed by this multitool at all though. I'll just stick with my surge and carry a full size ferro rod. Thanks for the great review, keep up the good work.
How long would that ferro rod last? This seems to be the only problem...regardless I'm still buying one I think I'll buy spare shit too though more whistles and sharpeners
Excuse my dumb question. Is there a reason for coordinates 45ºN - 122ºW stamped under the pocket clip of the Signal? Never owned a Leatherman, this is my first and only, given to me as an employee award.
Fantastic review! Extremely thorough. I'm considering getting for our group's next hike to review afterwards. Wish there was a way to beat that $100 price tag, but I'll probably just suck it up anyway :-) I had one question for you; I read a review that brought an issue I hadn't considered. I primarily EDC a Wave but normally I go into the woods with my Skeletool CX. The one thing that I don't like about the Skele is that because of the carabiner, the bit driver must be used with the handles in an extended position which I find ergonomically clunky. I imagine using the in scale tools (can opener, bit driver, awl) on the signal are the same, yes? How do you fare with their use? Again, great review. Thanks.
+Half Mile to Go yeah the same BUT the handles are more ergonomic than the skeletool and you can get the bit driver extender for the surge/wave/signal making it essentially a screwdriver.
+Living Survival I have the bit extender so that wouldn't be a problem. It's not a huge deal; certainly not a deal breaker- was just wondering what your thoughts were. Thanks for the reply.
Hi there. Great Review Video. I'm very interested in buying a signal now. I have had a few different Leatherman tools with the Supertool 300 being my favourite for a balance of repair, survive and cut applications. But, after your review I am very interested in the signal as a backup survival tool, which can be very necessary in the New Zealand bush.
Love the videos - saw your coverage of the Strongarm Gauntlet with the Dakota Fire Hole, which led me to subscribe. What is the mat you are using to gather your tinder and kindling?
My wife was a little pussy I spent $140 on a knife so when I showed her this video, she was actually a LITTLE less pissy because you could explain it so much better than I could as to why this signal was a worthy buy. Thanks for saving me a sleep on the couch. 👍🏻 🧔🏻
I like it. But I'm still having a hard time letting go of my Swisschamp. As I look into Leatherman I see no products that cover everything the Swisschamp has.
Also good for crushing things, bending metal (say you're in the middle of nowhere, and you have a bike, or a crashed car), or as a large set of tweezers. I've seen Les Stroud (aka survivorman) do a few things with 'um on that show.
Pair of hydraulic cutters are the only thing useful with a crashed car ;) seat belt cutting excepted of course :P I was thinking more of that this is specifically designed/meant for being in the woods, if you're on a bike you should have a bike tool kit anyway (possibly containing a LM type multi-tool). If someone else is on a bike and doesn't have a toolkit, that's their problem :P I'll have watch of the survivorman channel looks interesting, any you recommend? Thanks
Sure, its a nice show, very authentic. I've seen the first 3 seasons. The two I've seen him use the multi-tool on are Arizona desert and Winter plane crash (might be more though that I've forgotten).
I liked how you used the knife for something other than its obvious use as in making and pounding a stake. Could you make annother video for this knife showing some more outside the box survival uses forr this knife? I really like this knife and am considering getting one this would really help me out and i think it would be usefull for mmany others considering i havent been able to find any videos like this.
Now i nnotice the sheathe for this has a little bit of room in it and the drill bits fit nicely in in. i was wondering if you had any neat ideas of useful things to put in the sheathe given that this is a survival knife?
great review, I personally place this leather man as the perfect one for me, even before this came out I was crying for a leather man that had a pommel, driver bit and changeable wire cutters, I will be upgrading from my skeletons to one of these as part of my EDC! three things that you overlooked in your review. the signal is partly skeletonisez to save weight. the saw serves a secondary purpose in that the end of the saw has a small cleft for removing fish hooks from the mouths of fish. if like me you have bought the leather man driver bit sets then you are already carrying a small Philips and flat head bit for glasses as it's included at the top of the bit set. again, great review for what I think is leather man's best multitool for me so far.
I appreciate you showing the ferro rod actually starting a fire because a lot of times people complain that after they buy a product with that feature it doesn’t work. So that was cool to see
Thanks for adding actual "use" demos.
@Christopher Jaxtyn Lol

it would be bulkier but they could put 2 more outside accessible tools on the other side.

Great review! Loved how you included the side by side with some other models for comparison. That makes the overall review so much better. Keep up the great work!
+Greg Joram i try to answer what I think people will ask. i always forget something though :)
Great job. I really appreciate when content is kept efficient and focused on the needs of the audience. Kinda like a multi tool, appropriately.
Great review, thanks. Just bought one for hiking - it's an edgy looking piece of kit. The replaceable wire cutters are so practical. Cool saw, nice build. Can't wait to field test it. Excellent video. I've been pondering the Leatherman Signal and you truly went over what I needed to know. Thank you and all the best.
First time I have been on your channel, very good narration and pace. Great review
I love my signal. I would love it more had leatherman gave it a 154 cm blade
154cm seems kinda long for a multi tool
@@elijablin1171ha ha ha, thanks for pointing that out. I meant 154cm steel blade.
@@elijablin1171 truthfully if they can use spyderco steels like that maxamet would make it my ideal carry
420HC is tougher though so will hold up batoning and general abuse better. Yes it wont hold an edge as well but will be easy to sharpen.

Thanks for actually comparing it to their other multitools, been looking for this. There's so much to know
You didn’t mention the fish hook remover that is on the end of the saw.
Great review Ben. Appreciate the comparison to both the wave and surge. It actually helped me to see the signal in a new light.

+acgraham4 you could probably swap it with another blade...i looked at the wave blade and the wave blade is not as thick.
Great Information. I recently picked one up and wanted more information about the features. Thanks for the video.
The flat screwdriver is good for turning into a chisel or opening paint cans. Aside from that they really should replace them with a better tool by now. The multi bit driver is just too good.
I think if they added a cool dime sized magnifying prism and a small compartment to put Maybe a needle and thread or Fish hook and string ,,that would be cool
I really think weatherman leads to incorporate virtually a small toolbox that will latch closed on the side and then you can put in a small bit of survival equipment your personal own that would be really neat
+Mike T thanks for the comment.
Great review and demo , looks like the one for me !good to see ya my friend atb john
+the mi woodsman thanks for checking in John, hope all is well.
I haven't seen the two in person but it seems like the Signal had a very thick blade. Can you confirm if it is thicker than the Wave blades?
very nice review.
The best review on the Leatherman Signal!
Thanks!
Nice review of the Signal, Ive been following it for some time now and wanted to know how it would pan out in the real world situations. Looks good to me considering buying it.
+Jose Garcia it is a solid tool for the outdoorsman.
Thanks for sharing ! Bought mine just few minutes ago and I love it ! Great tool and review !
Nice review, boss. Im new and just started camping, the Signal is the one for me.
I might consider the Signal for my GHB as currently it contains my LMF2, and other heavier gear which really should be elsewhere.
thanks.
Thank you for blowing the whistle, not like these armature youtubers. Good review
This leatherman sounds pretty cool been looking for one to buy. I will be getting this one. Thanks keep up the great vids.
+Kevin Jones cool man. good choice.
Good review, balanced, unbiased and informative. Should I ever be able to drag myself outside of a pub or bar, I'd be taking a Leatherman Signal with me, if only to use the whistle to hail a taxi.
Cheers,
Bill
Good one 😝
Thanks for the review, I saw these at shot last year, looked interesting but I like the improvements they made. Will be picking one of these up soon.
+Iridium242 they tweaked it just a little but in good areas.
Great job friend, I love that it is lighter weight and they don't have all the dublicated standard screw driver blades. It also opens one handed and locks the blades I am getting one. Well done
I am really liking this one. Thanks for showing it off Ben. Excellent video.
+Feral Woodcraft thanks Joe.
I love that! I EDC a Leatherman MUT and I see a ton of similarities. Looks like a great tool!
+Adam Salyers Yep, some.
What is a "cap lifter"? I have heard several people say this recently. Is it what we used to call a "bottle opener"?
+Tracy Reed Same thing. People from different areas call it different things.
Just like "soda" vs. "pop". I'm from the south and say soda.

In Australia we call it soft drink or a can. Cans of beers are called tinnies or stubbies.
+Mr. SirKing
Don't come the raw prawn, cobber.
Bill Halliwell lol! Same here in Canada...
Lol.
One of your best reviews. Thanks. I like the way you compared other leatherman tools. It's my birthday in 3 weeks now how do I drop hints for She Who Must Be Obeyed?
+John McLean thanks for the comment.
Nice review! Thanks! The final version looks much better than the prototype, worth buying! That fire looked so easy!
+Kik Stark Fire is all in the preparation :)
+Living Survival I have to work on my fire making skills xD
I think you did a great job with your review, very informative! I am not impressed by this multitool at all though. I'll just stick with my surge and carry a full size ferro rod. Thanks for the great review, keep up the good work.
+BushcraftOnTracks thanks for taking a look.
Very articulate and thorough review! Thank you!
+Roger Young thanks Roger.
Great review. I use the leatherman MUT almost daily
+kyle pitts thanks kyle
Haha you aren't helping my Leatherman addiction...this is definitely going on the list!
+Eric Lykins haha, i know what you mean.
Awesome new tool from Leatherman. Cheers Mate ATB Mark.
+Mad Muttonbird thanks mark
How long would that ferro rod last? This seems to be the only problem...regardless I'm still buying one I think I'll buy spare shit too though more whistles and sharpeners
Use it as a backup to a lighter and it will last a lifetime most likely.
Great review Ben! I just bought that orange Wave from Cabelas and the Signal could be my next one! Very cool multi tool!
+sevenrayz ooohhh the orange wave :)
The most important survival skill is the ability to open packages. Amazon packages sent directly to the desert island.
Very thorough review! Thank you; it was very helpful to me in making a decision.
I wonder what the price of it was 6 years ago? They now sell for $300 Australian
Excuse my dumb question. Is there a reason for coordinates 45ºN - 122ºW stamped under the pocket clip of the Signal? Never owned a Leatherman, this is my first and only, given to me as an employee award.
Great review mate. Solid, to the point, quick and no BS. Cheers!
Thanks
I switched to Gerber multitools years ago but this one looks like it could get me back to a leatherman.
+Jason Browder thanks for watching Jason.
The "cap lifter" is actually a Carabiner used to clip on a backpack or your pants but I guess it could be a cap lifter too
+/\/ / /\/ _/ /-\ /\/\ /-\ /\/ it is dual purpose
Fantastic review! Extremely thorough. I'm considering getting for our group's next hike to review afterwards. Wish there was a way to beat that $100 price tag, but I'll probably just suck it up anyway :-)
I had one question for you; I read a review that brought an issue I hadn't considered.
For sure, thats a great tool to carry it every day, thanks for sharing and explaining Ben, take care, Taro
+Taromovies Swiss Bushcraft thanks Taro.
Hi there. Great Review Video. I'm very interested in buying a signal now. I have had a few different Leatherman tools with the Supertool 300 being my favourite for a balance of repair, survive and cut applications. But, after your review I am very interested in the signal as a backup survival tool, which can be very necessary in the New Zealand bush.
best review and demo of a product I've seen. amazing job man.
I have this already but im planning to buy the wave plus because of the scissors, do you think its worth to but a new multitool just for the scissors?
IS there a way to use the bit for glasses found on the bit set on it?
on the Wave is that just a file or a metal saw like on swiss army?
I just lost my surge yesterday l ' m so angry right know I'm going to have to buy the signal oh well hopefully I won't lose these one
now that's what I call a multi-tool. nice review man.
+Jay Scott thanks jay
:) Nice fire starting skills man. I would have taken 10 times that long to spark up that fire. I think ill buy one, nice review!
awesome, definitely gonna buy this to replace my charge. never knew about this, and this fits my needs way better.
+I NEED It nice.
Love the videos - saw your coverage of the Strongarm Gauntlet with the Dakota Fire Hole, which led me to subscribe. What is the mat you are using to gather your tinder and kindling?
+longhornjake it is called a multimat compact kumfie
Which watch is that you’re wearing and do you a recommendation for a watch for camping? Solar or kinetic powered or something?
Suunto, garmin, Casio all make great watches with compass, gps, hiking apps etc.
Wawe(+) is EDC, Signal is outdoorsman's tool.
The whistle is great for cease fire toot when hunting
My wife was a little pussy I spent $140 on a knife so when I showed her this video, she was actually a LITTLE less pissy because you could explain it so much better than I could as to why this signal was a worthy buy. Thanks for saving me a sleep on the couch. 👍🏻 🧔🏻
Glad I could help.
I like the new Signal Ben....kinda like a lighter version of my Leatherman MUT.. may have to pick one up...
+alex “bikeman” o'neal thanks for taking a look.
What’s your favorite most carried used leatherman?
Wave or Charge.
Thanks for the rewiew! one question: is it possible to change the main knive from SURGE to SIGNAL?
+Вячеслав Стасевич Not sure, I haven't tried.
I like it. But I'm still having a hard time letting go of my Swisschamp. As I look into Leatherman I see no products that cover everything the Swisschamp has.
+NewHampshire Bound swisschamp is nice for sure :)
Can't argue with one strike gire. Great job, and that ferro rod looks tiny to me. ATB, Laura
+Lellobeetle thanks :)
When would you use pliers out in the wild? Or wire cutters?
Wire cutters are handy when setting snares/traps and pliers are handy to lift hot pots off the fire or repair any metal object. Lots of uses.
Don't do a lot of trapping in Britain and I think the only metal thing I'd need to repair would be the pliers :)
Also good for crushing things, bending metal (say you're in the middle of nowhere, and you have a bike, or a crashed car), or as a large set of tweezers. I've seen Les Stroud (aka survivorman) do a few things with 'um on that show.
Pair of hydraulic cutters are the only thing useful with a crashed car ;) seat belt cutting excepted of course :P
I was thinking more of that this is specifically designed/meant for being in the woods, if you're on a bike you should have a bike tool kit anyway (possibly containing a LM type multi-tool). If someone else is on a bike and doesn't have a toolkit, that's their problem :P
I'll have watch of the survivorman channel looks interesting, any you recommend?
+Sam McCollum thanks for the input. i usually try to show some actual activity with the stuff I review other than just a table top review.
Thanks for reviewing. Gonna grab this one.
+CedricAda Gear and Outdoors thanks.
Leatherman, definitely the best nose hair puller on the market!
+Erik22552 Ouch!
