Hey thanks for watching the video!
Hey Jan, what a fascinating channel you have, loved the filming & drone work.
It was a pleasure to meet and shoot the bow with you, e'll definitely have to do it again, maybe with a crossbow next time. Julie'll put a community post on our channel linking your video tomorrow when our video is posted. All the best!
😜
Please explain about the netwrap, what it's made of and why it can be ground up with the straw for feed.
Why don’t you take the net wrap up the bales before grinding? Does that hurt the cattle or no?
I was wondering about the net wrap too?
My thought also! @@kevinwc5439
It gets caught in the machine.
He showed it on a video a couple years ago. The machine collects and they are able to clean it out every so often
I was thinking the same, now I know..
I can’t believe no one’s asked about the net wrap…😂 love the daily chore- come along videos! Happy Autumn 🍂
Jan explained that in an earlier video, machine sort of spits the netting out.
the netrap is maid from himp .
I am wondering how that machine gets rid of the net wrap, I do not see how it could be sorted out of the mix.
I like the music that plays during the hay grinder. Also, the cars in the video are very nice and that might have to deal with it being a bright sunny day.😀👍
Grinding the straw and putting it in with the feed is kind of like sneaking veggies into kids meals. Good idea. Super drone shots of the grinding. Thanks again for taking us along with your daily chores on the farm.
Shouldn't the netting be removed before the bales are ground up? Is the netting bidegradable? Or is it plastic?
Plastics get trapped in the cows alimentary canal
Why is the netting left on the bale Going into the shredder
Plastic in a body is extremely unhealthy and harmful@@frimmbits
Big surprise to see Kevin on Your farm. That was almost like a glitch in the UA-cam world. Good content as usual.
Thanks for sharing the long bow lesson.
What is the wrap on the bales made of
What happens to the plastic?
Great video, Jan. So that rat thing is crazy. Another good thing you all do... keep the vermin away. The calves all look happy and healthy to my eye. And "little" buggers? To me not so little.
You grind up the net wrap with the straw? Do they cows eat that as well?
Cool video. The Longbow would make a great decoration in your house.
love the vlog of shifting calfs - as they are new to what you are wanting them to do there is a lot of man handling to get them to do what you want - the funny ones are when one gets the zoomies and they all want to join in the fun
Have a great week brother from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲🚜
Is the bale twine also good for the cow's diet?
Fascinating So much going on ...and you and your dad are always on top of things. Great videographing. Great people.
Very kool to see the tub grinder that's a lot of bales to grind
Does he grind the plastic wrap???
Thinking same thing that cant be good for cows.
Curious what the answer is...🤔
They also grind the netting when bedding. All their land is covered in microplastics probably.
And people get mad when they regulate farms...
Yes, a little concerned too. We would not be permitted to grind the netting as well.....
This is definitely the most popular question on this video so far.
Your dad is always so interesting to listen too.
It looks like the birds did a number on the equipment . Uses what you can to clean the suction cups and floors with dish soap we do it .
I had a cross bow with a loader you load the arrows and it loads automatic loads itself. Pretty cool but sold it couldn’t bring it back home with me against the law to have own where we live.
Great video Jan! You're a long bow natural. Well done! Interesting video to inspire activity in the comments section. Enjoyed the video. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing love your videos
You saying never-ending job of cleaning and you can tell, your farm is always neat and orderly. Wouldn't you rather walk into the parlor where it's nice and clean instead of filthy? And as you know it needs to be done often. Thank you for educating and thank you for helping to feed of the world.
That was interesting watching the grinder. What about the net wrap. Otis always wrapping on our spreader. A real mess
work work work!.... have you tried a Rotating Turbo Nozzle for pressure washer?
Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Jan for another great video. 👍👍
thanks Jan for this great and intressting video 👍💪
I liked the variety. Love those little buggers
Wait, what about the wrap on the bales?
very interesting buddy..Thank to you and your family
@SaskDutch-Kid ok
I was thinking,I hope he brings the drone out
I have watched many of his medieval weapons videos. Cool stuff.
Your pest control officer would have a field day down here in New York city!!
Nice video as always Jan yeah have a break then upload the next video when you're ready as we Know you Record the videos then upload them onto youtube and it'll take time to do it I look forward to seeing your next video.
Must be putting that garage gym to use .. the guns are popping !
Good job guys
So cool I watch the History Squad independent of your channel. I knew Kevin lived in Saskatchewan, and around Saskatoon, but i never expected to see this. Top notch.
Enjoy it while you can. Trudeau's introducing bow-control.
what about the net wrap? does that also go into the feed?
You dont take the net wrap off the straw bales ? I feed 4 kg straw to the dry cows, put the straw first in the mixer than the other components let it mix for 10 minutes and its just as short as haybuster straw, just my experience.
LOL. A pressure washer to clean your dishes. Only from a single guy. LOL. 😅
Great video! Enjoyed it!!! Ty! ❤🙏
Neverending chores on a dairy! Amazing skill set needed.
I really enjoyed the longbow shooting!
You have a lot of really great looking cattle.
Call me stupid; in all my years no one has ever showed me to use brake cleaner to clean a funnel. Thank you Jan, that is a great shop tip!
Love the drone shots. Actually, love all your videos.
A good pair of barn cats are the natural version of rat/mice problem.
Soup to Nuts on the farm today!
Good grief. Net wrap in the straw? Hope that was mistake.
that long bow looked like fun. i’m not a fan of rats. yay for the pest control man!
Really interesting stuff today with the long bow and rat anticoagulant
Your vlogs are very informative. Great information.
Thought hit me today when you were sorting the corrals. Have you ever considered running a small rotovator or chisel plow in the lots in the unfrozen months to keep it drier/prolong manure storage? Like the "sand flulffer" maybe it would make these lots drier? Also, level out the dug holes. No experience, just thinking out loud
We use a 5 gal pail w/ windshield washer fluid and a special lid/ramp thingee with peanut butter on it. That attracts mice like crazy. The fall in and they don't get out. We also pour a circle around of a type of lime ( I forget what it's called) our combines & forage harvesters. When critters walk across it, they will lick the powser off and that will "dry them up".

Satisfying drone video of the tub grinder working, also did you keep your white truck
GOOD AFTERNOON
What happens to the netting when you are grinding the bales?
Ah kevin from history squad. Nice surpise
Never ending things to do on the farm, thanks for making the effort to feed all of us!
GOOD MORNING GREAT JOB
You grind the wrap to ??
Cheers.
for your silage chopper, if you fed dry straw would it just clog? Be nice if you could use chopper and trucks to haul straw chop to put up like silage.
Doesn't rain and snow affect the quality when the grind straw sits outside for a few months?
Rain & snow are just water, which the cows need a lot of. It's only a problem if you get mold, etc. c=growing on the straw.
@@timothymbonham4453 Mold exactly what I mean. The straw gets wet and then takes heat and starts mould. Especially when winter has not yet arrived.
Please tell me that the machine is isolating the net wrap out of the feed it was great to hear about the rat numbers, 0:04 A very big problem in New Zealand
so the stuff the bale is wrapped with his safe for the cows to eat? what is it made of?
I am in the hay business in Southern California, I don’t deal with round bales , so what about the net wrap ?
Nice video
Rainy Day collars and computers TED Talk, please. Great drone video!
This might be a strange question but the wrap on the straw does it just get ground up and fed to the cows and is it eatable? Guess I should have read some other questions about the wrap sorry Jon.
Excellent video and very interesting about the rats, then there is the Raccoons.
They just love the city lots of food. special garbage cans they still find away to get in.
What you do with removing Net wrap and preventing the grinded straw from rain?
No - his wife sits inside the machine and sorts it out😂
sence when has netrap been good to eat no mater for you are the poor cows ?
The speculation about the fate of the net wrap and health of the cows is hilarious. I’ve got trust and confidence that Jan’s farm would not allow the wrap to hurt the cows or the environment. So. The grinder must either separate the net, or it is an edible product
How do you get the net wrap off before you put the bales in the grinder?
There is a sanctuary type thing apparently and here on UA-cam there is a short that tries to portray a Heffer recognizing her calf that they rescued. Someone should show her Cows are curious of any new thing that is in their area/pen. It wouldn’t matter what it was she would of still walked up to it and investigated.
3:31 Money Shot
Good day sir
What happens to the plastic wrap on the bails when it goes through the grinder?
Those rats are a bad thing, we got a big problem here with them. One got in my attic and ate into my water lines and did 18,000.00 damage and flooded my kitchen.
Can you tell us about the net wrap please ?
time to do some long bow hunting!!
Why you do not remove the net-wrap from the straw bale before grinding ?
how many of your heifers do you keep and how do you choose? Do the rest go to market or other dairies? Thanks you for all the great videos.
where all the net wrap on the bales go?
How does the inclement weather affect the pile after the bales are shredded ?
Do you take the net wrap off? will it hurt the cows?
I'm very impressed with the low percentages of vermin in Saskatchewan even if the actual numbers are debatable. Some people debate the idea of pest control, but the dairy is not naturally occuring it's man-made. So,the extra tats are attributable to the farm. If not for regular pest control, the surrounding environment wouldn't be able to sustain the excess population. So,good job!
I don't have Telegram on my phone, but I'll have my wife help me download it after work and I'll message you
What do you use the shredded bales for? Why pile it all out in yhe open instead of inside sonewhere?
If they had extra 'inside' space, surely they would use that to keep cows in, out of the weather, rather than just storing bales.
Is that netwrap digestable?
What happens to the mesh wrap on the bales?
Do you not find that the ground straw get wet, here in UK we would prob have to store under cover and even then you would find vermin infesting it if stored for long
Had Shredded wheat. Not sure shredded straw would be a good breakfast cereal.
Mission accomplished Jan. You need to show straw grinding more. You’re getting comments out the wah-zoo.
I know what you mean about the brake clean. When i was in the military i would use brake clean to get rid of poison ivy after we got back from the field worked great.
Good to see you yan sir don't forget english muffin start your day lol
so why do you feed net wrap to the cattle?
What about that green plastic wrap, isn’t that hard on the cow’s digestive system?
