      There was a lot of energy and time spent on talking about sexual sim, but I feel like the substance of salvation assurance and refuting Calvinism got missed. There’s compelling reasons from the Bible to believe Calvinism, so how do we know who’s right?

    I've struggled with porn for over a decade, I'm almost 30 now. It came originally from curiosity and then after I was sexually assaulted in the church, it got worse. I was raped later in life a few times as well and it only amplified. I'm working on healing now from porn and it's intense. It's made all romantic relationships difficult. I'm on a healing journey from it and when you said it takes time bur victory will come, it gave me hope

    The Lord turned the tide for me with sexual sin about a year and a half ago. I started by praying whenever I felt tempted. I simply acknowledged the sin and prayed that God would take the temptation from me. I found it impossible to give into the sin when I was in direct communication with the Lord.
    Something else that helped me was I got my physical Bible out of the drawer and dusted it off. When I was tempted to look at something on my phone, I put my phone down and picked up that Bible to read. Doing this over and over has delivered me to a place I don't even feel tempted anymore. When I'm alone, I'm thinking about Jesus instead of the lustful garbage that caused me to sin. I hope this helps anyone struggling with this and pray God blesses you.

    I reject Calvinism because of its false sense of security, and it's "do nothing, God does everything" philosophy. How lost does someone have to be that even calvinism makes them insecure? If you're born again, just sit back and enjoy the ride - you're predestined! How is that too hard?

    I'm not clear on what people are saying that Calvinism has some kind of hold on them they can't get away from. What is that? 1. are we born at war with God? Yeah. 2. Is it the Father that does the drawing and choosing first? Of course. 3. Is salvation eternal no matter what? yeah. 4. Will God keep you no matter what you do in the flesh? Yes, so what are people hooked on that they want to get free from?

    hey pastor jesse and brother trent ❤️🙏 I am happy to be given The Gospel of Jesus Christ to all everywhere.
    I Thank GOD for this ministry and channel.
    It is helping me out a lot .
    I just thought of something that you just said something that stuck out about being tired or bored etc.. when temptations are being presented .
    That is so true .
    you also said something about the old sin nature. I do understand that we will have it until we either get raptured or die .
    I am trying to understand what sin in the mind does
    can you please explain if something pops up in the mind bad thoughts
    how do I stop them from coming into my mind and like while praying and reading Scripture
    These thoughts are so vile
    Not really sexual or anything but really horrid .
    I heard when you said to wash my mind out .
    I don't doubt my Salvation anymore because I know that Jesus Christ alone paid for all my sins past present future on The Cross by HIS death burial Resurrection.
    but now it is with my thoughts that bothers me really bad.
    It's almost like hearing two thoughts at one time.
    I hate these thoughts.
    I wanted to also know what paul meant about " thorn in the flesh" " messenger from satan"
    can I stop those thoughts?
    I haven't been resting well in a while with those thoughts on my mind.
    It's even effecting me at work and I am quick to get irritable with others fast and I don't like telling my personal business to them as well so I try to protect myself but I feel I am not going about it the right way.
    Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    GOD bless you all ❤️🙏

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  11 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for the comment. We should all be honest in admitting that overcoming the thoughts in the mind is the hardest thing. Sin always starts in the mind.
      A few things:
      1) Don’t beat yourself up too hard. God is gracious and forgiving. If you always dwell on the struggle and failure, it will lead you to more struggle and failure. I know this personally.
      2) As Pastor said, when the thought comes, find a way to target the thought and where it may be coming from. What are you doing in the moment, where are you, are you bored, tired, lonely, hungry, etc…? Write it down. Maybe log the thoughts and try to figure out why it’s coming about. This is practical advice of course.
      3) Pray, pray, pray, and read, read, read! God has the power to help you overcome this affliction. His word mentions “bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Jesus Christ.”
      I hope this helps somewhat. We love you, and we pray for you!

    I enjoy your videos brother Jesse, but , I don't believe we ought to mix our words.
    For example:
    Our Salvation in God is positional indeed, not progressive.
    Our justification is also positional, not progressive,
    So therefore our Sanctification is also positional.
    Salvation is positional because we are Saved, can never be lost, so our justification is also positional because we are justified through the Resurrection of Christ, it's not on Going at all
    Also our sanctification is positional as well.
    Sanctification means to be set apart for Christ from the world, we belong to him.
    Then only thing that can be progressing would be our Glorification when we are in Christ presence.
    Totally Glorified before the Father thanks to Christ our Saviour .
    The rest of your video on how to deal with Sins temptation is very good & true.
    In love I say to all of us who teach & preach the gospel of Christ in his death, burial & Resurrection we all should be careful that we handle the word of truth doctrinally correct.
    Your brother in Christ: Dave- California!

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  11 місяців тому

      Agreed. The use of sanctification is used three fold in scripture. As you pointed out 1) the positional sanctification upon belief in Christ (we are set apart in Christ) is a one time moment. There is no changing this.
      2) There is a progressive sanctification, but hear me out. This has nothing to do with salvation, at all. It’s really just the same idea as Paul states in Romans 6. We should not continue to live in sin, but we should (because He died for us) walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh. This is progressive because we still sin lol. Again, nothing to do with salvation. Sanctification simply put us “to be set apart.” We set ourselves apart by not continuing in sin. Nevertheless, our spiritual, positional setting apart in Christ never changes.
      3) The final sanctification idea is when we will literally be set apart in heaven with Christ. This one is of no need to explain. It’s coming when we die or are raptured.
      And yes, justification and salvation are positional, and they never change. Jesse was not mixing words, but the focus is on that discipleship/progressive sanctification idea.
      Thanks brother!!

    Such good and godly advice! Find out what triggers you. Often I have counseled others that Christianity isn't really about me stopping my sin, it's about walking in righteousness. It is stop doing and start doing this. If we fail to replace the sin with righteousness then we'll keep yielding to the sin. And brother I love the counsel to wash your mind in the word of God. Again, it is replace the lie with the truth. I appreciate your ministry to the body of Christ!

      That is their typical argument. They attack the Bible’s authenticity claiming the Quran is the uncorrupted text to read. They often claim the Bible has been copied and copied, and therefore it is corrupted. They claim it has many contradictions.
      When we examine the Bible without any bias, we find no contradiction worthy of any concern. There are a couple spots of potential copyist error (I think of one case where Chronicles says 20 and Kings says 40 - or something like that - regarding the age of a king), but even in these cases there are explanations that hold ground.
      The Quran also mimics much of the text of the scriptures. It references many characters in the Bible, and it even has quotes from the Bible.
      Upon reading it, you find quickly that the opposite is true regarding the Quran’s authenticity. It has many contradictions and problems. The Quran presents an unloving “God” that is not the true God. They are also no different that a Christian works based system.
      The Trinity is also often attacked, and admittedly is difficult for human minds to grasp. The nature of Space, Time and Matter all existing in one is also a fascinating thing for comparison. One cannot be without the other. Illustrations tend to fall short, but the Bible is clear that God is in three persons (not three gods).

    I don’t understand what Calvinism has to do with not having assurance of salvation. Obviously I am much older than this pastor. And I learned about Calvinism long before this pastor’s parents were even born. I was raised as an orthodox Presbyterian. I had to read Calvin, Knox, and Pink as a teenager. But evidently what he calls Calvinism isn’t what I call Calvinism. Calvinists of my generation had no problem with assurance of salvation. If you are elect, then there is nothing you can do to lose your salvation. Sin wasn’t really a problem since you couldn’t sin your way out of being elect. If you’re elect, you’re elect. End of story. No problem with assurance. I completely disagree with all five points of TULIP. But I don’t understand why Calvinism would lead someone to doubt their salvation. If there is a problem with recurring sin, isn’t it really one’s conscience and certain NT Bible verses that are causing the issue with assurance, and not Calvinism? But good teaching about fleeing sin. Thanks.

    • @BibleLine
      @BibleLine  6 місяців тому

      A humble person in the system of Calvinism would doubt their salvation because how do you ever know if you are actually elect? Is it by faith alone, or is it by the works you do to prove your faith (perseverance)?
      That’s the problem…
      “I am much older than this pastor” does nothing but make you look arrogant. One is not wise or learned due to age. Next time, instead of attacking the intellect of the individual, perhaps you could attempt to reach us with truth.

      @toddstevens9667 6 місяців тому

      @@BibleLine I have no idea who Trent is. But my point is that the entire understanding of what Calvinism is all about has completely changed. And the point of the Perseverance of the Saints isn’t about assuring yourself that your saved. Perseverance, at least in my day, argued that you couldn’t lose your salvation. That there might be seasons of doubt or back sliding but that eventually you would return to the faith. And none of the Calvinists I ever knew doubted their salvation. They always assumed they were elect and never doubted. So it is a very different understanding of Calvinism. My assumption is that the difference is that people of my generation, I was saved and baptized in 1941, learned their Calvinism from books by Knox or Calvin, while this generation is learning Calvinism from kooks like Piper and Washer and JMac. There are different theological arguments now than there was in my youth. For instance, repentance and “Lordship Salvation” was taught by Arminians in my youth, and the Calvinists pushed back against those doctrines. The first time I heard Lordship Salvation and “repent of your sins” taught was from Billy Graham on the radio in the 1960s. And he’s about as far away from Calvinism as possible. And no, I am not a Calvinist, but grew up in the Orthodox Presbyterian church. I haven’t been a Calvinist in many decades. And evidently I haven’t been keeping up with changes in the theological landscape.

      @toddstevens9667 I’m the editor that attempts to respond to comments haha!
      Anyway, yes, I understand that the “P” (as typically cited from TULIP - yet I know you have your reservations) is not stated for assurance of salvation. It is generally used for eternal security. Nonetheless, the question remains; how much persevering? Are we saved because we believed in Christ, or are we saved because Christ “perseveres” through us? Is the work done in the life of a believer a proof/evidence that they are saved, or is the believer saved solely on the fact that he has believed in Christ? That’s the issue.
      I believe old and modern Calvinistic teachings still confuse this issue. They put the onus on the works done AFTER believing rather than the faith in Christ itself.

      Those who believe (anyone has this ability from God) in Jesus Christ as their Savior are saved. Not all will be saved, but those who believe are saved. John 3:18.
      Of course God draws and convicts, but he isn’t a respecter of a certain group of persons. This is why he is very clear in John 12 “all men.” Even in John 3 “whosoever.” Also 1 John 2:2 - “the whole world.”
      It’s like you want me to be offended or something. Im not sure what you’re trying to Lord over me right now. God is more sovereign in the fact that he gives everyone the ability to believe, but not all do. He gives everyone the same opportunity.
      Would I be offended by a “God” who would send me to hell in spite of any choice I have - without I’m ever giving me the opportunity - just because he hates me - even though he would be the one who made me like “Esau?”
