This video is several years old, so misses one key feature. You can open your door when frozen, within the App. Just hold one of the symbols like the fan symbol, and more options will appear. From there, you can open the door.
Please edit your voice in adobe audition next time, because its really bad... Keep it up... Thanks for watching. Sorry about the audio. I was trying out a new mic that recorded too hot. I have another mic on order. One unique thing about my channel is that everything is 100% recorded and edited on my iPhone. I have the freedom to edit anywhere I want without the need of carrying other equipment like laptops. I’ll work on better audio. Thanks!
I would recommend using Lithium lubricant instead of WD 40. Works much better in cold climates, but I use it in Florida too. Good for garage door hinges also.
You're right, and this just happened to me the other night. The charge port door froze open while I was charging outside. I heated up the inside of the car, and this helped with the port a lot too. There was still ice, so I scraped as much as I could to get the charge cable removed, but the door still would not close all the way. The car still allowed me to drive away with the door half open. If this happens at home, I would use a hair dryer or cup of warm water around the door hinge. I was at work so I didn't have any of those things. It let me drive away, and with the heat still on, it melted by the time I got home and it's door was closed.
I would like to add that you basically gave two introductions and summarized what the video would be about in each. Just get to the point and stop copying garbage channels because it's popular.
Thanks for the critique. For the record, I’m not sure which “garbage” channel you’re talking about copying. I’ve never seen any videos of lubing the pivot points in the handle or around the window. I just thought this would be helpful advice. 🤷🏻♂️
Can you use the WD-40 Lithium lubricant on the charge port door as well? And if so, where would you apply it? Where it hinges into the vehicle? Thanks for making this video. I've ordered both of these lubricants you mentioned.
Thanks a lot! Please advise: One time my charging port didn't open because there was ice in the upper gap. The gap that provides the space to allow the mechanism to open. So since ice was filling that gap the charging port cover had no space to move into and thus - did not open. Any advise on this one? Thanks!
Try tapping around the port door first; just like the door handle. Many auto parts stores carry a de-icer spray can made for windshields but can also be used on door handles and charge ports. Just keep the can inside your house to use during an occasion like that. If you’re unable to have access to a product like that, you can pour a little hot water over the port door. Just don’t get any hot water on the glass windows as they could cause cracking.
@@BecauseTesla Thanks! I appreciate your advise but I have a feeling you haven't had this issue yet. Lucky you. :) The car is outdoors so this thing is bound to happen again. De-icer of any kind might work but the gap is pretty big for de-icing fluids. I haven't tried it yes (obviously) but I am afraid the amount of ice will be able to resist de-icing fluids. Actually I am surprised that not a lot of people complain about this.
Erik, you make the best most informative videos for the Tesla Model 3! Thanks, subscribed and notification bell was clicked. Also, I'll use your code when I order my Model 3.
If you're at home and have an extension cord to reach the car, sure. Hairdryer will work. My problem has been leaving the car in the parking lot at work, and coming out to a frozen door. At home I don't have the frozen issue because it is parked in the garage.

Yep. Outdoor mailbox doors ad well. Hidden gem of a product!
it breaks down rubber and plastic I wont recommend this
How much range do these door handles actually add, anyone know?
you forgot to mention an important part, the charging port! what if you cant open/close the charging port or remove your charging cable?

Great tips! Thank you for posting them!

No problem. Yeah, don't pay the service center to perform this very easy maintenance step. Thanks for watching!

@@Tja000000000 My car is currently outside in a snowstorm all night, so we shall see.... ;)
Thanks for the video. I have been looking into teslas for a while now and the window and handle were 2 of my concerns I’ve had with living in Canada.
How often it has to be done?
There are no rules for this. It is done "as needed". It is pretty quick and easy to do though, so I will probably do it at the start of each winter.
@@BecauseTesla thanks
Thanks...

hey sorry for my late comment, how often should I be lubing the rubber and spraying the WD on the door handle everyday?
Once every couple of weeks, or more often if you experience sticking. I did mine only twice last winter.
Very informative, clear instructions. Thank you.
Instructions were unclear. I lubbed my rubber shoes and cracked my skull.
You lubed the wrong rubber, my friend. Slick shoes = big headache. Lube the right rubber and you will win popularity contests. 😎
Thx! Usefull video! :)
And what about Hairdryer on the handle when It gets frozen ?

🙏🏼 thank you
Gummi pflege Stift. Its written in german. Lol
LOL, yes it is a product of Germany. Very good stuff though...I highly recommend it.
Just start preheating the car earlier. 45 min and you will open everything without knocking anywhere
Like you said sometimes you are in a rush and you can't preheat early
How much battery power you are draining with that
Yep. It takes me no more than 10 seconds to turn on climate control and within a few minutes it's toasty warm.
