@@unwintson if you hit +1 quality and 1+ socket on a 5 socketed 20% qualility gem then it will be. same as in poe 1 it's risky but if you get it you'll get massiv dmg upgreats.
Wouldn't you rather wait to Vaal after you have increased the quality on them? Quality often has really good bonuses on the gems and can dramatically increase their damage.
No because that would take forever to max a gem quality and then brick it with corruption You start with the hardest part first which is the corruption and waste it on throwaways and if they hit then just max that gem out
@gringoboy701 You can't use gemcutters on the skill once it's corrupted. But I would still say to save your gemcutters. A 6 link is often more powerful than quality, and you can just wait till you can afford a real 6 link and then add the quality.

with how common skill gems are and the price of the second tier of jewelers it's much smarter to actually vaal. Much more cost effective even if you brick multiple skill gems. Especially with going for the final socket, even if you gcp the skill, it's just such a massive money saver with the final tier of sockets. Cant stress enough how much of a money saver this is even if your brick like 5 skills.

Turns into a vaal version of the skill gem which uses souls instead of mana to unleash about 5 times stronger skill (which seems like there's none in poe2) 4. Nothing happens and it just gets corrupted. So now that gems have sockets, it makes sense that one of the options adds a socket
still better than buying a 4 socket. you get 3x 3 sockets for like 1 exalt but you need 17 for a 4 socket. you have 3x17 tries to do it. Probably 2x17 tries to be actually worth it as you need to buy a 4 socket anyway if you ever get a perfect jewellers.

Tried this just now. I hit multiple times. Buying the vaal orbs and lesser jewelers orbs and rolling like this, statistically is always cheaper than buying the greater jewelers orbs themselves.
Don't worry about the quality this early in the game. Gemcutters are expensive and you shouldn't waste them on the lottery. Just use a corrupted 6 link until you can afford a real one to pump quality on.
Unless I'm missing something, this isn't worth for 5 slots. Medium jeweler costs about 20e and large jeweler is about 50e so you only get 2.5 tries. Worth it to do from 3 > 4 though for an early power boost
Get a good wife, and include her if possible. Talk to her all the time about it so she knows it's important to you. Been with my wife 5 years and we both want each other to have their own thing. You want your SO to have their own thing...thats not another guy
Tbh it seems like you can just do both here. When you unlock the lesser jewelers drops you won't have currency to add quality to every gem and upgrade them with jewelers so you would be waiting dozens of hours of playtimes before you get to actually upgrade some of them. So getting a cheap skill gem and corrupting for a socket might award you a better character for dozens of hours with little investment. You can always get a new skill gem and fully level it up with jewelers and gemcutters.

In the campaign they drop in act 3, since it's tied with the Vaal Lore. You can also find a corruption altar there that acts the same as a Vaal Orb.
That's because they don't exist, Vaal orbs do though lol

Tried this 7 times and got 1 that increased quality to 6% but no bonus sockets on any of them. RNG sucks on this.

You can level them up, but you cannot add quality or another socket afterwards.
Do you know how I get extra sockets on the summoned hound or the skele warrior that is implicit on a sceptre?

Nope. That’s far too risky early game. The RNG to hit must be incredibly low.

Bad idea, corrupting gems stops you from being able to add quality, short term gratification is never better than long term achievement.
Tbh it seems like you can just do both here. When you unlock the lesser jewelers drops you won't have currency to add quality to every gem and upgrade them with jewelers so you would be waiting dozens of hours of playtimes before you get to actually upgrade some of them.
