Great job on the mower. You had a good supervisor keeping an eye on you. Always nice to have the mechanical ability. Save lots of money that way. Happy Fathers Day.
Zach, good to see you've "caught" the family work-ethic! It's also good to see that you've caught the family patience!! Working through "stuff" is a fantastic life-talent, and it appears you and Sam are off to a great running start together! Rose is fantastically cute, and here's hoping that life just gets better for all of you!!
Zach awesome rebuild job buddy!! I actually helped a younger kid that has opened a small engine repair shop along with selling lawn mowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, also works on vehicles, & does tire repairs & sells new tires!! There is a couple reminders I will tell you!! First on the tubes for the tires I always blow them up first to verify that the stim is pointing in the right direction!! I have seen many new tubes where the blue lines were wrong!! Second thing is that you was one hundred percent right on the valve issue on the old motor!! I can’t tell you how many times I have seen some one bring in a mower & say it has a hesitant to start but if I take & try to turn it over a little by hand it will get enough to turn it over fast enough to start!! I always ask them if they have about 20 to 30 minutes & I’ll have it fixed!! Some will ask well what is the problem?? I’ve put a new battery in it, I’ve put a new starter in it!! I’ve also put a new solenoid in it & none of that fixed it!! I ask them have you ever taken it in to have the valves adjusted?? No what does that have to do with it starting?? I have gotten a lot of pissed of customers that always say well I wish I would have just brought it in to you first instead of spending a couple hundred on all those new parts that I put on that my mower didn’t need!! I then tell them well now you have some back up parts!! Lol!! It is so amazing how many people don’t realize that mowers definitely need to have the valves adjusted after so many hours!! They will also tell me well no one said anything about needing to bring it back in after so many hours to have the valves adjusted!! I usually tell them that maybe they forgot or just didn’t no them selves!! I have also had many mowers that have been taken to other shops & they could not figure out the problems!! One other thing on that cub cadet is keep an eye on the front tire as they are very common for them to like be towed out or towed in witch can cause the tires to wear out very very fast!! I have seen that problem more then a dozen times in a mowing season with all being new customers!! Definitely change the oil at the beginning of each year & I live on a farm so have probably about as much as your dad has to mow & I then change mine in the middle of the season also!! Good clean oil is a must with small engines & also make sure that the oils have the zinc & all the good stuff that they have taken out of most oils today!! I have also seen people take the shields off that some engines have that like rap around the heads!! People don’t realize that those shields are there to help cool the engine!! The other thing I can suggest is after each mowing just take your air compressor with an air nozzle on the end & just blow off all the loose grass that gets pulled in against the engine this will also help keep the engine running cooler last longer & also during the winter will help keep the mice from taking all the grass clippings & taking them & building a nest in the air cleaners or under the flywheel!! That is another big issue that I have seen people come in for is that they will say it was running just fine before I put it away last season & then the first thing when I got it out this season is that it would start to cut out, miss, backfire & I can’t figure out what the problem is?? The first thing & every time is I will look & see if there is little peace’s of grass sticking out around were those shields are that wrap around the head & if there is 9 out of 10 times the mice have gotten in under stuff & will chew on the wires to the coils!! I thought maybe some of this might help you out Zach!! If you ever have any other questions on some of that stuff I’d be more than happy to help you out!! Awesome video buddy & remember keep up all the good work!!
Happy Father's day Zach. Good to see you have become a chip off of the old man. He taught you well. Keep up the great work and not being afraid of tearing into something like this. Keep loving and taking care of the family. God Bless.
Great video Zach, I always enjoy when you chime in on the channel, especially the mechanical vids like the argo series. You are becoming a very competent husband and father, good for you saving that mower and turning trash into treasure
My goodness, when I watch you and see how knowledgeable you are...what a great husband and father you are....and what a hard worker you are... (third generation strong) it makes me wish I'd been born in Minnesota....this comes from an old grandma down here on the NC coast by the way...who has been watching your Dad and Melissa for a while now...Does everyone there work this hard? Lol... Can't wait for the tour of the new place! Congrats!!!God Bless!
Well done young man, great to see young people using their abilities like our older generation. Back then ( we’ll in my fathers time, and I am 67 now) they fixed everything they could if it was cost worthy just as you have done. A+ !!
Just wanted to say thanks for the video ! I have a small cub with the same Kohler “bucket” engine & was looking for a replacement & your video pointed me towards the Briggs 19 hp professional series. It was just what I looking for.
Nice save Zak, you should get plenty of life from that Cub now................Your Dad has been a wonderful teacher, great to see young guys with "Man Skills"
I learned a lot about you today Zach.. I'm guessing by a comment youre a marine and Joe is your pops..I always get great satisfaction fixing things and possibly saving a few bucks. Also the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree I can only imagine you're pops was an excellent role model growing up..I was very fortunate also..turning 61 and still feel strong in mind and spirit..you and the family have a blessed day sincerely jeffrey
Geweldig om te zien hoe u het voor elkaar krijgt om hem weer toekomst gericht te kunnen gebruiken! Nu nog een mooi huis en een groot grasveld. Met vriendelijke groet, Peter Nan from Holland. (google translate)
Somehow this channel got lost from my feed. Years went past and this teenager now has a family and obviously paid attention to his Dad over the years. I can remember the videos of the two of you and saying he was doing fatherhood right. I am writing this on Father's Day. You have a beautiful young family. I hope that you do as well as your dad did.
good job, well done. you cut a little bit to low for my taste. 3" cut height is all you need. now you can cut my grass. Lol. them 19 hp Kholer's are perfect motors for that 1040 Cub, which looks great considering where it came from. i owned a few Button comercial 52" walk behinds for my lawn company i had a long time ago. i took the Briggs off and replced them with 21hp Kholers and they ran forever. what i prefer for a rider..is them Commercial Kawasaki 27 hp you find on 1990s 61" Scag Hydro turff tigers. omg..talk about easy to maintain, plenty of power. last forever. one fault, was the airfilter..always got buggered up with grass clippings, so keeping that airfilter clean is a must. drain the gas for winter storring zach, i always used synthetic Mobil 1 in my New motors to break them in properly also. Oh..the cutter housings on the mower deck..them will need to be changed out eventually. i know their expensive, but well worth to include them in on the rebuld.
I was not surprised to see you roll up your sleeves and take on another project ! Best call was new motor over trying to fix the anchor !! Maybe the new old boat can use the old one ? LOL !! Stay Safe and happy hunting !
I didn't know you were going to buy another house> That's a good idea try to always stay in real estate. As young, as you are it will always pay off if you buy the right property. I have been buying real estate for many years here in California and it has really paid off!! Prices go up and down buy during downtimes if you can.
Cool video zach how goes things been long time since u put video up hope all is well with u and family good luck looking for a house miss the old one it as a Jem
Hello Zach, Well your Dad is great Hunter, Carpenter but I take it his mechanic skills are a little bit this side of oh crap its broke park it outback. Laughs. Good job.
Koehler has crap for quality control. My new 2018 cub couldnt start in winter for blowing snow. Valves were so far out of spec it’s amazing it started when warm. Reset and now she’s a gem. Reading the web, their lack of quality control is well known.
Thanks for the video and Happy Father's day
Great job Zach and helper Rose.
Great job on the mower. You had a good supervisor keeping an eye on you. Always nice to have the mechanical ability. Save lots of money that way. Happy Fathers Day.
Thanks for stopping to explain things during your project. Great job!!

Nice job young man
Loved it, especially the ending...Good Job
Great job! You seem to have a knack for salvaging stuff & turning junk into functional equipment. Awesome.
Like your pup.
Well done, Zach! You fix machines and metal as well as dad does with wood. Just a bit less experience. Good movie, & good job on the Cadet!
Good mowers for the money. The kohler courage these came with were problem childs, but the mower itself is solid
Its alive, thanks for sharing.
yes, I was always real good at taking machines apart. You are blessed to be able to put what your fixing back together!! that is genius. well done!
Nice video Zach.
Nice job, Zach!
Nice video zach.
Many could learn from this.
Great job Zach...... I didn’t think you’d do all the work in one episode..... when I saw the valve head missing I thought this will be fun 😱...👏👏👏🙏
good call on the motor, along with the belts on the deck check the deck spindle bearings.
I have faith in you Zach you got this ,but hopefully the crank isn't bent
Good job Zach, like your daddy, you're as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Keep fighting the good fight.
Zach you have alot of your dad in you...great job!
Good Job there Zach with fixing that lawn mower .
Geweldig om te zien hoe u het voor elkaar krijgt om hem weer toekomst gericht te kunnen gebruiken!

2 stroke wont hurt it, being new it would help it
Here's to getting a big lawn to mow!! Fingers crossed for ya sista!! 😲

Awesome work and Happy Father's Day
My brother loves his Cub Cadet, an oldie he renovated years ago. His is much older than this one.
What a wise buy! I'm glad that Joe had that one with so low of hours. Semper Fidelis
You should do your own version of "pimp my ride"!
I thought you bought a new house. Maybe i am a bit behind, Great job rebuilding the mower.
I was not surprised to see you roll up your sleeves and take on another project ! Best call was new motor over trying to fix the anchor !! Maybe the new old boat can use the old one ? LOL !! Stay Safe and happy hunting !
Good job!!!
Your very handy at small engine repair.
I see you brought your sled dog Phoenix ❤️💯🙏🏻😂
I didn't know you were going to buy another house> That's a good idea try to always stay in real estate. As young, as you are it will always pay off if you buy the right property. Get you one of those Light Bands that goes around your head. Its a flashlight.
Good Job
You're amazing Zach, you really have a knack for small engine repair.
Nice job Zach. I don't know if they work on the Briggs, but on my Cub LTZ1045 I run Motorcraft oil filters. They're about 1/3rd the price.
I hope when you buy your new house its FAR from the cities MN is overrun
Yes we are, the new place is in a town with wayyy less population.
Good to hear. Its a shame whats taken over.
You said the engine has a hard spot when you turn the flywheel but that it ran good. Could that hard spot just be the compression stroke?
Awesome video ty
Great video, this one
How much was the new engine?
Use baby power putting the tubes helps to not pinch the tube.
Would you possibly know what's wrong on a cub cadet if it runs but won't move forwards or backwards?
Dude those blades need the rust knocked off and sharpened. Have a great one !
Laughs. Good job.
Awesome!
Awesome! Love your projects. Zach, sorry if I missed it, but what about the ARGO that you restored? I was so excited to see it in action.
Not afraid to get your hands dirty
Definitely put a new motor in it
What model# was the briggs motor?
Out from the graveyard of decay to be given a whole new lease on life.
Zach shape the blades! Barbro Sweden
Hi zach hw r u brother long time I didn't c u n the video nice to c u
Tick city!!!
Don't let your dad store it for you!
Zach you want to sharpen the blades to !!!!
👍🏼👍🏼

Nicely done 👍
Why do I have a foreboding about Cub Cadet transmissions... expensive to replace and not reliable.
Nice job man.
Their not hard to bead back up either and air hose.
Great job!
